cantmummyhaveabreak · 21/02/2010 10:33

I think i might be getting DD1 these and will get her some doodles from the outlet near us, then she might be able to get 2 pairs again for the same price that they are in the normal clarks. :D

tinksbabyis1 · 21/02/2010 10:37

those are great cant dd1 has had them 2 years running i will get dd1 those 2

Diege · 21/02/2010 12:24

Afternoon. Sick of snow too CANT - a real pain trying to push the pram etc and manage the others at the same time! It's gone slushy here, so fingers crossed will have gone by tomorrow.
Love the shoes! I like the gunmetal paor best TINKS, all nice though. Had the same pair as CANTs last year for dd3, but with little ice cream cones on. Sandles are great - dds wear them to death until they've literally fallen off by September! Dd1 being a rebel has the boy's sports sandels instead - same principle though, and a bit more hard wearing.
SF jabs fine - not a murmer out of the pair of them, though ds fell straight to sleep!
Older dds off to playbarn woth a friend this afternoon - I am on marking countdown, just 35 left now!

maxxymoosmummy · 21/02/2010 12:54

good going with the marking DIEGE same with the snow here, its either all gone, or where the last bits are its slushy. so hopefully tomoro morning it will be clear.
ive had a letter about the swine flu jab for DS but not to sure if to get it or not as hes already been treated for swine flu. when doctors said he had it.

Diege · 21/02/2010 13:13

Hi MMM. When I was reading up about SW it said that if you got a 'real' diagnosis and it was logged as an actual case, then you didn't need to get the vaccination. I assume this means if you were given tamiflu (or whatever it is they prescribe for sw) and ds took it and seemed to improve etc then you're in the clear and he has natural immunity. As you say, cloudy area relates to if they actually had sw in the first place. Apparently, it doesn;t do any harm if you had the tamiflu, and then were vaccinated, but you may want to check up on the facts etc. The nurse today said that they are expecting a '3rd wave' and that, even though it seems to have died down now, there would be a rush for vaccinations when the next wave hit. Of course, it could a be a different strain, and we'd all need a new vaccination then!

Kayzr · 21/02/2010 13:22

Glad you had a good day Cant. We have loads of snow here too.

The boys aren't having the SF jabs. I don't think there has been enough research and when we spoke to the GP he said his kids weren't having it so that swung it for me.

maxxymoosmummy · 21/02/2010 13:30

well i dont know if he actually had it, the doctor phoned the nhs helpline thingy, and they then put it down to being that, and he was treated for it, with the treatment he did get better, and was fine with it and after it. im just really confused about the whole thing, s i dont know if it was logged as a new case or not, and everything else. you think my health visitor will know more about it? or the doctors? i dont know where to start.

NatalieJane · 21/02/2010 14:50

Hello everyone

Am really sorry, I am going to be very rude on two accounts, I haven't caught up at all, haven't even read the last message and I really don't have time to catch up today, but I am hoping you're all doing well, and I will try to catch up tomorrow

Second round of rudeness, Diege, can I pick your brains please about some ID diploma courses again? I have spent the morning emailing a load of ID companies asking exactly what they want in an employee, but with it being Sunday, I've not had any response yet, and I have found this course, not sure if it's too good to be true? The difference in the course fee's (the KLC one is nearly £1400, plus all of the equipment) would make it possible for me to start the course so much sooner, and I am guessing that if it is linked to the gov. that it has to be legit? Do you know of the diploma it's offering? Am getting rather excited here! If it's one that's worth doing I could start in April, maybe even next month depending on how DS's bday goes!

Sorry everyone hope you're all having good weekends?

tinksbabyis1 · 21/02/2010 16:24

hi diege and nat

just took dd1 to see the frog princess couldnt believe how still she sat and she enjoyed it

Diege · 21/02/2010 16:49

Just very quickly (all hell breaking loose here)yes the course is legit NAT (staff uni). If you go onto Staffirdshire uni's website, you'll get a better idea of what it's about and how it (the foundation degree) could lead to the BA degree. Good to have one governed by a uni as yes, eligible for gov funding plus has the 'status' and legitimacy of a university course.Looks pretty good to me if distance learning is what you're after
Better go, ds screaming!

NatalieJane · 21/02/2010 17:04

Hiya Tink, glad DD1 enjoyed it

Thank you so much Diege, I was hoping and praying for you to say that! I had actually just come back on to say that I'd seen the qualification reffered to on the gov. website (on about framework thingys !), I would still need to do the diploma first, but it says at 20 hours a month it takes about 6 months, so that'll be fairly easy, leading to the place on the degree course which takes 2-3 years which set's me up perfect timing for DS3 starting/settling at school.

I can not tell you all how excited I am I know it sound's so very OTT and dramatic but I honestly thought I'd be doomed to the whole SAHM thing even when they've all but left home and the thought of more years just stuck at home was driving me insane, was actually wondering if I was getting slightly depressed, the thought of another monday coming, and another week of being stuck in 4 walls.... but, hey! I am going to be a career woman I am so ready for this! Honestly, even if we won the lottery next week I couldn't be happier than I am right now, imagine how I am going to feel actually getting the course material and getting started!!! Am going to get more wine, and maybe dance around the kitchen with DH...

Arrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhh, might ring my mum.... and my friend

Thank you thank you thank you Diege xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (and if MN doesn't like my snogs then it's tuff innit?! )

GruffaloSoldier · 21/02/2010 21:32

Evening all,

we got back early this evening from my friends. It was such a lovely weekend and GC was so good. He slept great, despite an unfamiliar house/room/bed and I was so relieved! Was lovely to see my friend. Her DS is 15 months and she is expecting DC2 in May. Her DS isn't walking and when he saw GC walking he started to walk! By the end of the weekend he had taken his first unassisted step so cool.

DH back to work tomorrow after his half term hol, but 3 day weekend next weekend so looking forward to that We are also off to the theatre in London on Wed and my sister is having GC and we are staying over after (she lives in London). Am really looking forward to it. But a bit worried as she will have to put GC to bed - eek!

Diege - good going with the marking!

Tink - was it Marwell zoo you went to? we took GC last week (his first time at the zoo!)

NJ - course sounds promising.

Cant - glad DD2's birthday went well!

Hello Kayz, dont think we are doing SF jabs here either.I wont go into my reasons but I'm not 100per cent no yet, still thinking really.

We have had no more snow here thank goodness!

Hi ses, hope O is better now. Thanks for FB comments! the video was taken a couple of weeks ago and I cannot belive how much he has progressed since then. He is walking alll the time and he really loves his shoes hwich is great

Right think I have written enough...hello to aanyone Ive missed!

maxxymoosmummy · 22/02/2010 08:25

essenceofSES · 22/02/2010 09:37

Morning all!

By the end of this week, I'll be properly back at work!
O is doing a full week at nursery so Ive dropped him off this morning and come into town to get a few bits. Then home to do sorting and cleaning.

Nat - that course sounds just what you are looking for. I really hope it all works out for you.

Gruff - glad you had a good wkend

MMM - sounds like an exciting day ahead! Hope you get some good info/options

Hello tink, Diege, Cant and anyone else around!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/02/2010 11:27

Morning- can't stop, DC's all on the loose and have a man coming to fix the dack door in the next couple of hours- best wash the pots once the washing machine has stopped!! Dont want him thinking i'm a lazy mare (even though i didn't really do a thing all day yesterday!! )

Nat- good going on the course.

ses- good luck with last week before work.

Gruff- hello- we're also not getting SF jab's for the DC's. The girls were exposed to SF when DS & DH had it and were fine. And DS and DH were over it in a couple of days.

tinksbabyis1 · 22/02/2010 15:00

which coat for dd1 for summer

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Girls-Coats-Jackets/35051/Girls-Fun-Coat.html

or

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Girls-Coats-Jackets/35050/Girls-Jersey-Lined-Anorak.html

mum over today

went food shopping

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/02/2010 15:11

not too keen on either coat really tink- not when i love this and this but if i had to choose one of the boden ones i'd have to say the pink one...

Safestyle man has been, was here all of 2mins to fix it. DS said the man smelt wierd tho... not sure what he meant- he just smelt like a builder sort of guy... maybe he's not sued to a man who smells like he's actually done a days hard graft- unlike DH who swivels on his office chair all day

NatalieJane · 22/02/2010 15:22

Afternoon

Gruff, glad you had a good weekend, and Wednesday sound's v. exciting

MMM, what courses/jobs are you looking at? Have a nice afternoon with your mum

Ses, hope O settles at nursery, and enjoy your last free(-ish) week!

Can't, hope your lock is fixed?

Tink, I prefer the green one but think the pink one might be a touch warmer? Tricky with not knowing what sort of spring/summer we'll be getting if any. Thinking of the wind and rain from last summer year I'd go with the pink one I think.

Thought I'd stumbled on a bit of a set back on the course, was reading it again last night and can't remember the wording but on the requirements for the degree course it sort of sounded like you had to do the diploma in curtain making and soft furnishings as well to get on the degree course, que bit of panic since I am a 'can't even sew a button back on, wonderweb is my friend' type of person, but emailed them this morning and no, just the ID diploma is enough phew!!

Now, how to convince DH that actually we don't need to sort DS1's bday and party, and eat next month, so I can pay for it now and get going!

NatalieJane · 22/02/2010 15:26

Ooops x posts Can't, your lock is fixed then!

Ooooh, I like that first coat, I'd wear that, with the right outfit, when I've finished losing the weight, and when I was 18... forget sometimes that I am seemingly zooming towards being too old for 'high fashion'

NatalieJane · 22/02/2010 15:32

Oh and forgot to add to my very sorry for itself attempt at a catch up, Kay, also not getting the boys SF jabbed, feel it's a bit late in the day now, if it is going to come back again then it is likely to have mutated to a different strain, still not sure if I had it or not (got the tamiflu but didn't take it, just didn't seem like answering yes to a few options on a webpage diagnosed SF accuratly enough!) but if I did, they've already been exposed, and if not, then I am sure we've all been exposed at some time or another, it went round DS1's old school, he didn't seem to get it, and have heard of so many GP's not giving it to their kids (including our old GP and our new one, and the other GP's in the new surgery IYKWIM?!) I just don't think it's worth it.

GruffaloSoldier · 22/02/2010 16:14

Hey all

Tink - both coats would look lovely on your DD but I would go with the pink one solely for the jersey lining for the warmth factor. If you liked the first one you could always get a thin fleece for her to go underneath for cooler days.

Cant - I liked your first link LOL at man smelling weird

SES - hope the nursery goes ok today. cannot believe how quick its come round, so what day are you actually back?

MMM - courses/jobs sound good. what do you want to do? I too have had a very lazy day!Not planning on going anywhere as its miserable!

NJ - good luck convincing DH!

tinksbabyis1 · 22/02/2010 16:17

cheers ladies

LaTourEiffel · 22/02/2010 16:27

Hello all. NJ, I can guarantee your catch up will be better than mine as I'm not even going to try!

I've just been texting with Glask, and saying that I just don't seem to have any idea of time these days...I'd blame it on having 2 kids, but most of you seem to have more than that so that's a bit embarassing!

In summary, Christmas was a nightmare, January was better and February has been busy. Next year we'll be staying home at Christmas - thank goodness.

DS1's potty training has 100% regressed, and is back in pullups full time, and showing absolutely no interest in changing that...I had the health visitor development woman come round, and she said that DS1 is quite advanced in many of his other skills and that's playing a part, as well as being down to DS2's arrival.

DS2 is absolutely gorgeous, I love him to pieces - he's my little blonde haired, blue eyed bundle of gorgeousness. He's happily giggling in his swing, watching DS1 play with his garage, and blowing raspberries.

DS1 and I have had a go at making some banana bread this afternoon - its a cbeebies recipe, but I wasn't prepared so I've used vegetable oil instead of sunflower oil - hope it doesn't make a difference. I also doubled on quantities coz it didn't look like it was going to fill the tin, but now I'm not sure if I remembered to double ALL the ingredients!

We've been poorly here for the last few days - DS2 had a very grumbly Thurs afternoon, followed by about 12 very messy pooey nappies on Friday, OK on Saturday but overtired thanks to PIL visit. Sunday he slept all day. However, Sunday 5am, I woke up and chucked up all my dinner, followed by a good 24 hour bout of diarrhoea. Then yesterday afternoon, DS1 showed signs of going the same way, but has now gone a different course - he has a high temperature, bright red cheeks, loss of appetite etc - not sure what's going on with him. He keeps telling me he's better coz he wants to play outside....brrrrrr is all I can say to that.

NJ - I've not given DS1 the SF jab either, not really sure why not, just didn't really seem that essential with all the likely exposure to it at pre-school.

In true style, got to go as DS is getting very stroppy about me not playing with him. Will try and get on later, and talk about the 'real issues'.... rather than my daily drivel x

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/02/2010 17:23

LaTour- So bloody good to see you back on!!

Nat- i too would wear the 1st coat!! Think it's on the list for DD1.

Have spent the afternoon sorting throguh DS's wardrobe and have a ton to sell!! need some more 4-5 pants for him now though as he's only got about 5 pairs...
