nothin in for headaches, so would have to go to town to get rid of it without it going on its own, where would i get solphadine from?
and ye been wanting to take him for few days now, but not got round to doing yet
think it just depends how the headache goes i think.
not so good about the walls diege, but at least u can stil decorate it in some way.
good luck with some marking, it seems never ending for you

Morning all,

I've been lurking but had no time to post. I am shattered - C has turned into a terrible sleeper . She had a couple of good nights after we turned the heating up but since then she has gone back to taking ages to go back to sleep after her feeds (at least 2 a night and takes over 1 hour to resettle) and now has a lovely new habit of waking around 2 or 3am and screaming for an hour or more. She also refuses to sleep past 5.30am though she used to wake at 7 or 8 . I've had less than 4 hours sleep every night for 2-3 weeks and I'm not coping well with it. I've told DP he has to help more as he never gets up at night - that worked when C slept better and he got up with her in the morning but he is so busy with work he starts at 6 so isn't helping in the morning either. He thinks we should start her on baby rice but I don't think she needs it yet. She is only 17 weeks and most people I know have said that solids didn't help with sleeping. To be honest its not the number of feeds that's the problem, it's the time it takes her to get back to sleep and the early mornings. I just don't know what to try .

Oh dear, she is starting to grizzle on the mat so I'd better dash. Sorry for me me me post - just needed a quick moan to the wagon who understand how this feels.

Diege · 13/02/2010 10:15

MMM, you can get solphadine from most chemists (solpahdine max is best). Tell them it's for a migraine as it's pretty strong stuff (sorry SES ). Hope you're ok x

RUGBY, my god that sounds tough Can I ask if C is waking out of hunger at night, or habit? On paper she shouldn't be needing feeds at night at 16 weeks, but obviously if genuinely hungry could you increase daytime feeds and then see if this has a knock on effect? If it's not hunger could you get tough and try to see if she cries it out? All very easy for me to say...I do know how tough the screaming at 3am is Is she having too many naps in the day d'you think? All obvious things which I'm, sure you've already tried. If may well just be how she is at this 'phase'...Not sure what else to suggest really other than hang on in there and get dh to help! You must be shattered

maxxymoosmummy · 13/02/2010 10:32

ok thankyou, think im going into town shortly, so will see if the chemist is open. and go ask for some.

RUGBY i agree with DIEGE on the advice, but like she says you have probably tried most things. hope she settles for you soon, and sleeps well again.

tinksbabyis1 · 13/02/2010 11:09

nat - i ordered dd1s bed sheets for new bed online with next wanted to pay by card went on an account so paid them with card when i received then shut account straight away.
will be doing same with vertbaudet account

maxxymoosmummy · 13/02/2010 11:39

change of plan :D think i am going to the zoo
all excited like a big kid. haha.

Diege · 13/02/2010 12:31

Enjoy the zoo MMM
TINKS and NAT, I have been awful with the Next Directory and ran up quite a debt. I think they've got in trouble with the way they don't give you the option of paying there and then with debit card, which makes the whole thing a glorified store card with a very high apr. Still, I also find it hard to resist . Good on you for closing the account TINKS!
Right, dd2 has the moon sand out so better go!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 13/02/2010 15:37

Afternoon- just took the DC's out for a ramble in the countryside. My parents met us there- was good fun, they walked about 5 miles in total- loved it!! They'll sleep well tonight!!

The course was a really good start, very interesting, nice to hear other opinions and experiences which i've never heard of or experienced myself. DD enjoyed coming with me, seing and being somewhere new- noone could believe she's nearly 1yo!! A week today and it's her bday!! Can't believe it myself.

Off to wolverhampton tomorrow to collect her cake from DH's aunty. Should be good as meeting MIL & S-FIL too.

Got in from my course yesterday, oh actually had just spent 2hrs doing food shop in tesco before got home, but anyway... got home and had a banging headache, started to feel sick and was almost out of it i was so ill, was sick a few times, but i fed DD2 and went to bed at the same time as her!! slept right through till she woke me at 3ish for a feed... was really ill again at about 5ish then, sick a few times again then was ok by about 8ish... hence going out for the day.

I'm getting really done in by DD2's waking too. Rugby- she's my first of the 3 thats still woken at this age, I can sympathise with you on so many levels!! She will normally go to bed at 7ish, sleep till about 10-11ish when we go to bed then will wake then for a feed, then she'll wake at 3ish, then at 5.30-6ish and stays awake after waking then!! With the other 2 i never saw 6am- they always slept till at least 7am!! It's so strange for me, and i think i'm gonna start the tough-love this next week while the DC's are off school, then i can get a nap etc during the day when they nap or watch tv in their room.

gingerbreadlatte · 13/02/2010 15:51

Hello
Hope everyone is having good weekends. Sorry for the poorlies and the night wakings. Both are just the bad bits about being a parent I think.
Cant is this the BF counseeling course? I am still waiting to hear about funding for my NCT one but that takes 2+years. What one are you doing? Might be better for me given that Im working 50hrs a week already

I have been keeping an eye on the thread this week but cant remember much. So hope everyone is ok... Where is that waiting to TTC list? I thought I might put my name on for 2011!!!

What are everyone's valentines plans? If any?

All good with us, another week, another illness. This week we all had really bad colds, the type where you sneeze literally every minute for 3 days with a nose like a tap and your eyes dont want to stay open. I've not had one like that since I was about 18 and a fresher at uni! Oh, and the SG is just dealing with a bout of conjunctivitis! Poor thing. I cant wait for the spring when I hope things will calm down a bit.

We've just been for lunch and the SG shared my DH's starter of Kippers. SHe loved it- she definately has my DHs palate which is great

Better go and tidy up before DH gets back with the sainsburys shop.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 13/02/2010 16:04

GBL- we've also had conjunctivitis- first DD1, now DD2 is just about getting over hers.

The BF course is with BFN i have to say, even after the first session it's really interesting and i can't wait to be back in 2 weeks!! It takes 12 sessions, but we've doubled up and do 2 sessions a week, so takes 6 weeks to do ours. Then we can do another course after that to be able to go on the wards etc. which i'm defo gonna be doing.

I believe the course you're going on was the founders of 'BF helpers'... however, they take sponsorship money from formula companies so i'm not into training with them. BFN was formed when 3 trained people from that 'organisation' didn't believe in the ethics of their ways so split from them and created their own organisation.

As for valentines... not a lot, going to see DH's aunty and parents (MIL & S-FIL)... wont be home till about 8ish or so. Might have a bottle of wine before hoping into bed... but DH is back at work on monday so prob not!! Not really 'do-ers' of valentines.

Kayzr · 13/02/2010 16:59

Glad the course was good Cant. I just don't believe that R is 1 in a week!! It's just flown by.

Ginger, I am making DH a meal. We are having Indian for starter and main and I am attempting to make a soufflé for dessert. I might be mad.

maxxymoosmummy · 13/02/2010 17:51

just back from the zoo and DS loved it alot again. and luckily my hedache went on the way so we all had a great time.
just had DS walks all the way from the living room to my bedroom with my phone nt sure why but its cute
hope everyone is ok, and as for valentines, im spending it alone until DS gets back from his dads haha.

Rugbylovingmum · 13/02/2010 18:14

Hi all,

Diege - thanks for the advice. She often has a huge 3 hour sleep in the morning and I really need to stop her sleeping for so long then but it's tough when I am so tired at that time. I don't think she is hungry when she wakes at 2 or 3 - she will always take a feed if it is offered but often brings most of it back up which only happens in the day if she is feeling greedy and has an extra feed (eyes too big for belly already). She doesn't sleep after the feed anyway or seem any happier so I think she is just waking out of habit then can't get back to sleep.

I think letting her cry it out is the way to go but I'm always worried she is sore or uncomfortable and I'm just leaving her - I'm no good at being rational during the night . I'll probably end up sitting with her with a hand on her so she knows I'm there but just let her cry. I did it when she was a newborn and it worked but she is more stubborn now so I guess I just need to stick with it for longer. Wish me luck.

Cant - glad the curse went well! Rs waking times sound just like C before she started this screaming at 2am nonsense. Hope the tough love approach works for us both.

Kayz - enjoy your valentines meal. Souffle sounds very swish!

GBL - sorry for sickies.

Rugbylovingmum · 13/02/2010 18:16

MMM - xposted. Glad you had a good day at the zoo and DS sunds very cute. We'll have to have another York meet up soon, I'd love to see how all the babies are doing now.

maxxymoosmummy · 13/02/2010 18:29

RUGBY ye that sounds good, theyve all probs changed lots. DS is a little terror now that hes walking haha. into everything, but it is sooo cute

maxxymoosmummy · 13/02/2010 18:32

now that im home, my hedache has came back with a vengence

gingerbreadlatte · 13/02/2010 18:44

Hello everyone.

Cant- Glad your course is going well and you are enjoying it.
Re my course- that's definately not the course I will be taking! Like you, I wouldnt do something that is sponsored by formula companies.

My course is Diploma in Higher Education Breastfeeding Counselling. Its part of the University of Bedfordshire. The shortest time to do it is about 2years (according to a tutor that I discussed it with) but you can take longer or a break if you decide to stop to have another baby. As it involves evening tutorials and a lot of written assignments I need to see whether its possible with my work load but I really want to do it...

I've never heard of the course you mention. It wasnt even suggested when I enquired with the NCT. A BF counselling course sponsored by Formula companies sounds like a massive contradiction!

Kay- your meal sounds fab, bet the souffle turns out really well

Rugby- How old is your DD now? I've lost track? could she be having the 4mths growth spurt ? My DD changed completely at this time and did lots of weird sleeping/waking etc.

Hi MMM and everyone else

gingerbreadlatte · 13/02/2010 18:44

MMM- sorry for headache. Hope you feel better soon.

Diege · 14/02/2010 09:49

Morning! Hope the headache went MMM - at least you felt better for the zoo visit. Are you drinking enough water??
RUGBY, I think getting tough may well work. I'd try to limit dds sleep to no more than 2.5-3hrs max in the day (say 40 mins at 9ish, 2 hrs 12-2, 20 mins or so if she needs it late afternoon). Then I'd do controlled crying tbh. The fact you go back and reassure every 10, then 15, then 20 in infinitum isn't the same INO as letting them 'cry it out' as such (though it seems so at the time!). I think you're right about weaning and waking - think the small amouint they eat in early days are simply tasters, and would hardly fill them up. Good luck! I have 8 years of cc experience to call on if you need a shoulder
CANT, course sounds great, and it sounds like you'll get a lot out of it.That formula sponsored one sounds odd - I suppose they're doing it for good PR?? I guess you could argue that, in a robin hood sort of way, if you did that one and then converted people to bf, you'd be getting back at them in a odd sort of way! Your course sounds good too GINGER, though as you say good luck with fitting it in !
Hello to everyone else. Vals day a non-started in this house - dh adamently opposed . Still, because of the dds he gets me the usual box of ferrero rochhers .
Hope everyone else is being pamapered . Back later!
Oh and have just ordered some more wallaper samples (and fabric) for ds's room this time. Very exciting!

tinksbabyis1 · 14/02/2010 10:30

maxxymoosmummy · 14/02/2010 10:54

morning everyne, well woke up without my headache, but its started to come back, starting to wonder if i need glasses as it seems to be when on laptop, reading or watching tele more.
DS has banged his head on the bath this mornin, blood came to the surface of the top of his eyebrow seems really painful for him poor boy, and theres a nice bump to go with it too, so we had cuddles and he has just fallen asleep on me, so put him in his cot. hes off to his dads later, but cant go in the car as not got a car seat for him yet, as hes too big for the baby one.
hope everyone is having a good day.

GruffaloSoldier · 14/02/2010 13:54

Hello everyone!

Headache here too so just a quick post and then I am going to take some tablets

Had some pink roses for vals day and DH has just taken GC out for the afternoon so I can get some time to myself Yay!

We are having a take away tonight from our favourite Indian restaurant.

GC coming on leaps and bounds, he now "chats" on his fisher price mobile phone and has started doing shape sorters which I am very impressed with.(just copying at the mo but very good ) He is also giving kisses and that just makes me melt In the last week he has suddenly got soo affectionate.

MMM - you might be right about the glasses, you should def get it checked out.

Tink - hooray for DD1's new bed

Diege - very exciting about DS's new room, what colours are you going for?

Ginger - hello! sorry for more poorlies, course sounds exciting!

Cant - glad you are enjoying youre course.

Sorry to anyone Ive missed, right I am going to take some tabs and then do a bit of this education law course Im doing for volunteer job. Im really enjoying it so far

Rugbylovingmum · 14/02/2010 14:04

Afternoon all,

well, we had a mixed night. C went to bed at 8 - she woke up about 10 but I just put her dummy back in and she went back to sleep then she had a quick feed at 11.30. Between 12.00 and 3 she woke up around every 15 mins - she has a slightly stuffy nose and I think she spits the dummy out to breath then can't get back to sleep without me putting it back in so I decided to get rid of the dummy. We had a huge screaming fit but she did eventually fall asleep around 4ish. At 5.30 she woke and seemed hungry so I fed her, put her back in the cot and she slept till 8.30! I think we need to stop giving her the dummy at night or I'm constantly going to be replacing it, she will happily suck her thumb or fingers during the day but seems to forget how at night. I started off patting her when she cried but when she had the long tantrum I tried to leave her for a couple of mins then pat her. To be honest I think patting her was just disturbing her when she was starting to settle herself so will try to be a bit more tough tonight. Diege - may be asking for more advice as time goes on. I'm going to try to limit her naps too.

MMM -sorry for headache coming back, might well be worth having an eye test.

Tink - yah for new bed and covers! Just had a peek on fb and she looks very happy in there.

GBL - DD is 18 weeks now, I think we have just passed the growth spurt and I don't think it is hunger waking her but who knows? Totally impressed you are going to try to fit that bf course in - it sounds great but I don't know how you find the time!

Kayzr · 14/02/2010 14:17

Hello.

Having a lovely day so far. D is sleeping. F and DH are playing with F's trainset. So I am lounging on the sofa watching the rugby. Don't think it will be as good as the Wales game yesterday.

I've got one of those spice mixes from Rafi's Spice Box in York to make a curry later and I hope it all works
well.
