Due May 2010: Into the third trimester we go, can the bumps get any bigger?

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 02/02/2010 14:19

So here's the continuation of the thread previously known as Due May 2010: Where we get a 'bloom' just in time for the christmas mayhem???
Let's see if this one lasts up until the first birth... Knowing how chatty we can be, I doubt it!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Forces..I was whining last night about how uncomfortable/in pain/crap I felt..and DH says.."yes..all the reasons why we werent having anymore...you knew what you were letting yourself in for!"..err I didnt hear him protesting back in August...anyway I must confess that after last nights convo..I think the universe has just paid him back..god Im wicked

cupcakefairy · 19/03/2010 11:19

Thanks for all the tips girls, Marquise you are the queen of good links
Re the antenatal/postnatal thing I only comment cos I've noticed other threads start a PN thread as soon as first baby arrives and it means all the ones later in the month are left in AN with barely anyone to tell that their babies have arrived too. I just find it a bit because I'd still want to read the postnatal news even if I hadn't popped yet so why not all just stay on one thread til all babies arrive...
Anyway, just a suggestion...

Forces lol, love the comment about 'can you just take the baby'

We ordered our cot the other night so convincing dh about that lovely expensive bedding is the next step

itshappenedagain · 19/03/2010 11:33

hello all!

there seems to be a reoccuring theme regarding the extremely stupid things that partners or husbands are saying to there now heavily pregnant partners/wives...maybe we should start a whole other thread about that! then again the amount of stupid comments ive had from other women i could fill a thread all by myself!

ML- im with you on the karmic concequences! and i love the man logic of you knew what you were doing. yet you never hear them say anything like that when they're hung over do we!!

forces and SK- i understand how you must feel, had SPD with DS and im thanking my lucky stars that i havent got it this time.

i was having a bit of a panic yesterday night, as had been having very strong and regular braxton hicks, went on untill about 3am this morning, by which time i had unpacked and repacked the bag and checked my checklist of things off again. luckly they died off and i managed to get some sleep. my curtains are finally done and think i will ask someone else to put them up as it would mean getting up a ladder...although i must confess that i have been painting all afternoon yesterday, so may just get sick of waiting and do it. just waiting for the men to call about the delivery of my wardrobes (tapping foot impatiently emotion!)

pigleychez · 19/03/2010 12:23

MDM- I thought the eternity ring was after years of marriage of after the birth of your child. Which ever came first. Never got one after DD so may have to drop hints this time round!

30ish- glad the bump is ok.

Hollyoaks- Glad your arm is sorted now.

ML- glad you found some bra's. Hope everyones better soon.

Just calmed a hysterical DD down after DH left in a cab with the guys for thier stag do in Dublin. Just finishing lunch then driving down to my parents for the weekend... Wish me luck on that one!

Ill try to keep up but my parents internet is painfully slow it really does my head in!

pamelat · 19/03/2010 13:29

Sorry about the partial and rushed response yesterday. I was online from bed and it said 3 minutes battery remaining. I was too lazy to get up and go downstairs to plug it in

1030pm is a late night for me

Dont you the think the nicer weather makes all the difference? Its quite sunny and warm here today (no coats required ) and I feel like everything is manageable.

Took DD to playgroup and aside for the very end bit (I think she got tired) she behaved fine. We then had a picnic on the park and drove her around (again practise for new born!) until she fell to sleep.Seems to be working as otherwise she just isnt having a day time nap.

Am sorry for those in pain. And am very angry on behalf of those whose parents or inlaws favour one GC over another!! Thats disgusting.

DD is the first for each side of ours. DS will be the second. I really won't be happy if any favouritism is shown. If it was overt, I would not visit.

Anyone else finding that they are actually sleeping a bit better now? (sorry to those that are not). During Jan and Feb, I was awake most of the night, or so it seemed. Now I still wake once or twice, mainly to wee, but am getting back to sleep fairly quickly.

I cant really complain aside from a few aches and pains. I got cramp in my calf a few nights ago and it still aches a bit now. Also my neck and back are fairly uncomfortable but nothing serious.

Wanted to ask if anyone with a toddler is planning on buying a buggy board? Am thinking it could save the expense of a two seater buggy, especially as my DD (2.2) doesnt really go in the pushchair anyway, she always wants to walk or be carried, which is becoming a struggle and will become impossible.

Anyone else finding that back ache is much worse in the evenings? Last night I was starting to think that it was like having very mild contractions, know its too early but think I am paranoid about it

pamelat · 19/03/2010 13:35

and can anyone rememer, or does anyone know, how many weeks you have to be to hire a tens machine from the hospital?

newmomma · 19/03/2010 14:13

pamelat The hire period is usually for 6 weeks (seems to be with most places) and they aim to deliver it two weeks before your due date. Most of the websites offer an extension service I think but not sure how expensive it would work out?

You could hire one now, I should think, if you wanted. But it might work out cheaper in the long run to buy one? Are you worried about early labour?

I found a VERY good deal - the make isn't so well known as some others (Elle/Femme etc), but its the one that my MLU and hospital and physiotherapist recommend...

Just thought it might be of help.

Tens machine

Plus its about twenty quid cheaper than from the suppliers own website!

Pagen · 19/03/2010 14:55

Hi All,
Just a quick update.
We're just back from the hospital after my GDT, if there is anything in the results they will call me on Monday else i won't hear from them...I'm still hoping the dizziness is down to my other infections and just general third trimester tierdness.
I wasn't too impressed with the nurse/midwife who was taking the bloods, Chris and I were running late (Very typical for us!) so he threw me out at the entrance and went off to park, I waddled in just in time but she wasn't happy that I had left my notes in the car and we had to wait for Chris to park and bring them. Then she was just acting all rushed and stressed and there is nothing worse than having your bloods drawn by someone in that sort of mood, I just wanted to tell her to sod off!
The second lot of bloods she tried 3 times to get before she said "oh we'll have to get Jackie in to do this"...Jackie got it first time and it was perfectly smooth, why "Jackie" doesn't do all the bloods first off is beyond me!
On the plus side we did get a sneaky peek at the birthing pool rooms and they are lovely! So fingers crossed i do get one of them, Chris was quite happy with the comfy lazy-boy chair too (Well, thats all that counts eh LOL). We also got to chat with several other mums who were also in for the GDT, and I do love chatting with other mums and mums-to-be :O)
Anyway, I'm off to crack the whip at Chris as the midwife is coming round later to discuss the birth plan and as usual the house is not up to my recent uber-clean standards! LOL
ForcesSweetheart - Thanks for finding me on facebook, I've added you and sent a msg!

Newmomma - My midwife told me we would discuss tens machine hire at my 36week appt.

ML - You think you've got it rough, my bra measurement a couple of weeks ago was something ridiculous like 40AA!!!! I've always been flat-chested and was very proud of my recently sprouted buds but apparently I'm not big enough yet for a maternity bra..in fact the woman at M&S who measured me was so disdainful when she told me I nearly pinged the bra I was trying in her face...hopefully I'll still grow enough before my due date to be able to breastfeed!

memorylapse · 19/03/2010 15:30

Pagen..sorry to hear you had a bit of a stressful experience at hospital..sometimes health care professionals forget that patients pick up vibes from them....lovely lady in marks and sparks..charming..look at it this way..my boobs are fast heading south...at least you will still have perky boobs when mine look like an old age pensioners

DAU again today..CTG and more bloods to check LFTS and Bile acids..I wish I was 38 weeks already....I cant walk now either as baby is fully engaged so it feels like my insides are dropping out..and if one more person asks me if Im overdue/having twins..I wont be responsible for my actions....grrr

SquirtsMum · 19/03/2010 16:48

Hi all

Pagan - @ the marks and sparks woman, but as ML says at least yours will still be perky

Pamelet - There's a diary outside the Physio's room in the hospital that we put our names in on our due dates and we get a call to pick a TENS machine up about 2wks beforehand, we then leave it outside the room before handing home with new born

MDM - tried dropping hints to DP about a new mum prezzie but he wasn't getting it, in the end i told him either some earrings or new shoes God love 'em but sometimes our menfolk ain't the brightest!

33wk app yesterday, measuring 35wksbut MW is happy with that as Squirt is a good size and i have a healthy layer of cake padding over tummy still (its slowly disappearing). Have noticed in my notes 'Ceph 3/5th'.... any idea what this means? MW also told me to start drink Raspberry Leaf Tea from 36wks onwards... again why?

Sent home from work this morning as i managed to pull some muscles (or whatever is left of them) in my side and walking/carrying/moving/laughing is killing me so now tucked up on the sofa with everything in easy reach - but it looks like DP maybe home early as there are maybe 2 'bombs' on the trainline he works on, in his own words 'It's been abit quiet lately so we were expecting something', i love the casualness of it all lol

Hope bumps are behaving for everyone

xxxx

SquirtsMum · 19/03/2010 16:50

BTW i've asked to join the FB group - my initials are KC

xxxx

SquirtsMum · 19/03/2010 16:52

Ignore me, i see we are already friends lol

xxxx

sweetkitty · 19/03/2010 17:12

squirtsmum - 3/5th ceph means cephalic presentation i.e. head down, 3/5ths means she can feel 3/5ths of the head so 2/5ths is in the pelvis, don't worry this changes day to day.

Raspberry leaf tea - well there is no scientific evidence but the theory is that it helps tone the uterus to make the contractions more productive, the tea is horrid, I have taken the capsules from Holland and Barratt from 34 weeks each time, don't know if it works but cannot hurt can it?

ML - I'm the opposite keep getting told how "neat" I am, don't feel very neat!

pagen - any size of boobs can breastfeed, you will be amazed at how much milk they will fill up with, remember everyone's actual breast tissue is the same size the rest of it is just the fat around about it nightmare about the blood taking why is it such a faff?

pamelat - I have never used a TENS machine but a friend has one she is going to loan me so might give it a go. DD3 likes her afternoon naps so am hoping she keeps it up for a while, DD2 goes to school with DD1 in August so am hoping DD3 will still need a nap then I get the afternoon with DS (still feels weird saying that)

cupcake - I think that is a good idea about not "crossing over" until the last one of us has delivered, with DD2 I was second to last and it was quite lonely on the thread.

pigley - have a nice weekend

am off to make dinner now

Yorky · 19/03/2010 20:45

Re: secret stork
Message from him indoors - ML, you're in.
11 ladies so far
AW from Harrow, can you e-mail him your MN name please?
James, are you still interested cos he hasn't had an e-mail from you?

memorylapse · 19/03/2010 21:00

lol..Yorky that sounds so kryptic!..this message will self destruct in 5 seconds

Im going to buy a mum pressie as I think its nice to be bought something for yourself after having a baby

Yorky · 19/03/2010 21:27

I could say more but I'd have to kill you!

Agree totally, babies get loads more pressies than mums.

sweetkitty · 19/03/2010 22:23

Yorky - am I still in, did send an e-mail a while ago?

Must go to bed falling asleep, hard hard day

mustbemadno3 · 20/03/2010 08:59

pagen sorry for late reply, havent been on for a while as I have spent most of the week in bed feeling sorry for myself! I am on Celaflexin and canestan cream. But I have to change antibiotics on Tuesday to treat the other infection.
I was interested to read that you felt dizzy too. I have been feeling shaky and light headed and Thursday evening I fainted. Ended up going to see G.P my bp was ok but my hr was slow but she said thats due to baby being low and lying on main artery? I just dont feel any better really. I cant wait to get weekend over so I can see g.p tues, mind you hopefully feeling better by then? I just keep thinking how am I going to get this baby out when I feel so shit!!

Oral thrush is awful I do hope it improves soon.
Sorry to everyone if I sound selfish and am talking far too much about myself but I'm feeling very down and tearful. It dosnt help that its been mothers day and the anniversary of my mums death at the same time. My dad has a new girlfriend whos moved in his house and to be honest hes a selfish b.....d. For instance I finally decided to let him look after my ds2 while we are at a wedding in April, and he had an absoloute fit saying he hadnt the time and he cant do everthing???
When he found out I wasnt well all he could say was not to rely on dh as he is sooo busy but to ring him instead?? Bizarre.

Sorry everyone I feel awful not reading everyone elses posts properly, just needed to put pen to paper...!

Hollyoaks · 20/03/2010 09:05

Morning all

Cupcake - I like the idea of staying on the one thread until all the babies are here, not at all biased or based on the fact that I'm on the end. Will enjoy hearing all of the birth announcements and how the first few weeks are going. We'll need a new thread very soon anyway so might as well fill it up.

Pamelat - I find my back is always worse at night, I think its as I spend a lot of time on my feet at work and carrying dd, it eventually takes it toll. I remember having to soak in a bath every night by the end of my last pg.

ML - hope the bug clears up and you don't catch it.

Pigley - enjoy your weekend.

Iron tablets - does anyone on iron know how long they take to kick in. I'm absolutely exhausted but have only been prescribed one ferrous sulphate and one folic acid per day. They don't repeat the bloods for another fortnight to see how my hb is responding.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend and the weathers better where you are, rain here

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 20/03/2010 09:34

Forces - you're so right about trying to explain SPD. I found that since I got a referral from the physio, people have paid a bit more attention. I'm not convinced it will be particularly useful but at least people are taking me seriously now.

Pigley - hope you have a good weekend and your Mum behaves herself.

Pamelat - I'm sleeping a bit better too. Think I'm mostly so exhausted that I can't help but sleep. We bought a buggy board for DD, we got a Kid-Sit which looks quite good.

PAgen - I hate it when blood taking goes wrong, some of them seem to be terrible at it.

Memorylapse - hope the D&V bug isn't causing you too many problems, sounds awful.

Mustbemad - that you're having a hard time. It must be really hard with Mother's Day and the anniversary of your Mum's death especially if you're feeling so rotten as well. I know it's very un-MN but hugs.

pamelat · 20/03/2010 09:58

Hello all, hope everyone else has woken to a better morning than here. Warm and sunny yesterday, 5pm Friday came and the rain has not stopped!

Have woken with a slightly sore throat and feeling sick. Think I may well be physically sick. DH has taken DD swimming but she woke at 6am (usually 7am ish) and is grotty. At least she should sleep at lunch.

I am meant to be sorting things out for a local jumble sale but am lying around browsing on the internet!

SPD sounds horrific, apparently more common with second/third etc pregnancies?

AnAngelWithin · 20/03/2010 11:35

morning all.

feeling totally pathetic today. Ache all over, especially my legs, teary, and feel totally pathetic. Everything i eat is going through me. The colours drained from DHs face and he said 'you were like this right before you went into labour with all the others' no no no no...... I have been mooching round the house for no reason, all restless, but totally exhausted. At the same time, feel the need to DO something....

Yorky · 20/03/2010 11:53

rather than list all the secret storks DH has sent a brief email to everyone on his list so far. there's still time if anyone else wants to play

memorylapse · 20/03/2010 12:38

angel and pamela..sounds like you both have a virus..take it easy today.

well after hunting high and low..Ive discovered a lingerie shop just 5 miles away...got measured today..42E..have come away with comfortable but functional triumph soft cup bra (think Mrs Slocombe in are you being served)..but am just so chuffed..also they do feeing bras too

Pagen · 20/03/2010 13:03

Hi All!!
I'm feeling good this morning, the antibiotics are in the bin and I had a lovely long (apart from toilet breaks) sleep last night and now have a day of laziness ahead!!

My arm is bruised up lovely after the tests yesterday but atleast its done now, just keep my fingers crossed for no phone call on Monday :O) (They said they'd only call if the results warranted it)I'm hoping that the dizzy spells this week were just a result of a very active weekend and those bluddy horrible antibiotics I was on(Midwife said she was shocked I was given that make anyway as they are notorious for making people sick...shes gonna have words with the family planning centre manager...ooops).
The midwife didn't get here until 5 last night so tea was delayed, and she was here for almost 2 hours so i was contemplating chewing on my own arm by then...I really am no fun when I'm hungry and tierd! LOL
Still, she was one of the more experienced midwifes I've met (I always seem to get the really lovely but sooo young, fresh out of college girls), she was definately one of the "old school" none of this namby-pamby stuff women...I liked her :O) However I did take her advice about not using dummies with a pinch of salt as i plan to do whatever works as long as it doesn't hurt the babs.
We talked over my birth plan and she did assure me I would be able to use the birthing pool, however if i need IV antibiotics for the strepb (and she thought it likely i would) then apparently they will put a drip lead in and give me the antibiotics when I arrive and then leave a waterproof lead in so i can go in the pool (Phew...although I hate having those things in my wrist).
She also told me to chuck the antibiotics I'm on, she explained that Strepb and thrush are just one of those things that some women carry and occasionally they rear up and thats when we get sympotms. The antibiotics and caneston cream etc... treat the symptoms and calm the infections down but they don't get rid of them....just "send them to sleep for a time". So while it is possible to send them to sleep for months or even years at a time they will likely re-emerge during periods of illness, stress etc... and most definately pregnancy. So, she said, they don't bother testing or treating thrush or strepb during pregnancy but if they know your a carrier they will test when you go into labour and treat with fast acting IV antibiotics then. Apparently the IV antibiotics start to work within seconds so protect the baby and if they are happy they got the antibiotics on board in time then everything else is plain sailing, they will even let me go home after the birth and not keep me in to monitor babs.
Apologies to all those who know this stuff I just thought it might be of use to anyone going through similar problems.
So whilst I'm annoyed I've wasted a week taking antibiotics that made me feel really nauseaus for no good reason at least I feel like I know whats going on with my body now and it will all come right in the end. My biggest fears were A Infecting the babe and B Not being able to have a water birth...but all looks good now :O)

Forces - sorry if you are getting de-ja-vu...to save time I just cut and paste most of this from the email i sent you this morning

SweetKitty - I have my Raspberry caps standing by for when i hit 36weeks. I first heard of it when i used to foster queens (cats) and kittens for the CPL (Cats protection league), it was recommended by the charity head that I sprinkle the leaf in the mums cat food to help with the labour...none of the cats complained and anything good enough for my cats is good enough for me LOL

MustbemadNo3 - How wierd that we are both suffering with dizziness! Do you think its the infection or the treatments! Whatever i hope now I've had the treatment and finished with it hopefully the dizziness will go, I'll let you know. However I am also "low" so perhaps my babs is lying on something he shouldn't be too? Whatever I am fairly sure the cure will be giving birth .
Don't feel bad about being down, I think we can all sympathise there...I'm aiming for a cry a day for a week at the moment as I've already gone 5 days!! My man keeps finding me on the floor in various locations having a good sob but he's pretty good at looking after me till it passes...anything will set it off so it can only be worse when you have a really good reason and it sounds like you have more than enough of them. Take care XX

Pamelat - Damn! You've just reminded me that I forgot about the local NCT jumble sale this morning...cue cry number 6

Angel - Sounds to me like you are getting close.....

oh and before i forget, I will get myself on this list!!
