Due May 2010: Into the third trimester we go, can the bumps get any bigger?

So here's the continuation of the thread previously known as Due May 2010: Where we get a 'bloom' just in time for the christmas mayhem???
Let's see if this one lasts up until the first birth... Knowing how chatty we can be, I doubt it!

Hello all,

Family have just gone and DH has just put DD down to bed so FINALLY, I get to sit down! Talk about knackered. Family did try to help but sometimes it easier and quicker to do it yourself as you know where everything is etc.
My Dad especially has been so worried about me today saying how tired and ill I look. Embarrasingly DH has just said he told him to make sure he is looking after me Not in a nasty way but expressing his concern, bless him. Im def a Daddies girl!

Anyway, Had a lovely but busy family day and im currently stuffed to the brim with food!

ML- Not had any BH yet, but then didnt really with DD either.
Def with you on feeling the feet sticking out!

Angel- Well done on the bag. I have a few bits ready but need to buy a new bag as DD has claimed the one I used last time as her swimming bag!

Pamlet- Congrats to your friend.. Think its only about 5% that arrive on due date.

Wibblela- Congrats on your Niece. Lots of newborn practice

Anyone else getting lots of pins and needles in their toes? its sooo anoying!
And getting sharp stabbing Boob pains in the evenings?

hormonalmum · 14/03/2010 21:14

Hello everyone. I have been trying to catch up with everyone's news but find it difficult! I should try and log in every day but that is not always possible.

Thank you to everyone for the positive vibes, I am feeling the same, but dh has been a real star these past few days and I realise how lucky I am when I read some of threads. I think it might have been Sweetkitty who said count down every day and that helps and as I know we will not be having anymore children. I sometimes feel the end is in sight some days, but others I really struggle.

I cannot get anything other than paracetomol unless I see the consultant and I do not want to do that as I really want this baby at home (if circumstances allow of course)

On a postive note, I have been able to get some baby clothes out and have sorted some out to wash.
Lots more jobs to do but finally feel I am getting somewhere.
I am getting alot of bh - some of which hurt a bit. I usually get them in the evening.

Dh and the lo's have throughly spoilt me today. Had a lovely lie in, followed by a cooked breakfast. Dh took the lo's outside and they both planted me a pot of bulbs each. Then dh gave me a frame with lots of photos in of the lo's. I also got some daffodils and homemade cards complete with lovely drawings and writing.

We popped to see my mum for a while and I stayed a little longer than dh and dc and when I got back, they were all making dinner for us. It was lovely day and I feel very spoilt.

I hope everyone else has had a nice day and got spoilt a little bit at least.

sweetkitty · 14/03/2010 22:04

Happy Mothers Day everyone hope you all had lovely pampered days. I woke at 5.30am and couldn't get back to sleep (couldn't blame it on DDs either) so bang went the lay in. Had breakfast, lunch a dinner made for me (Chinese OK cheating but I am not complaining). We went out to a little farm and swing park and DD3 went mad when she saw the pig, she was grunting at it and singing Old Macdonald it was very funny. Came home and went for a nap and DP took them all out to play as it was so nice.

First Mothers Day I have had noone to buy for as well which was quite sad, MIL died last year and I don't speak to my Mother.

Finally wrote my list out for things I need for the baby and for me, even though we have a lot of things it still came to £800 and that was not me being extravagant at all, right enough the pram will be £500, DP also got down all the clothes from the loft for me to sort through, kind of sad that it will all be going. DP then said to me "SK maybe we should keep it in case something happens to this one!" I was like what a thing to say and told him even if "something" were to happen there is no way on this earth I am getting pregnant again, I cannot do this anymore, I know I said it last time but this time has been the worst and I cannot go through this again.

Loads of BHs here, I didn't have one with the first one, not even a twinge until my waters broke. I have loads of CM as well and am very swollen downstairs, coupled with a sebaceous cyst I think I have and piles I feel awful (sorry TMI).

Am with you memorylapse I feel very full to bursting and it's all hard little bones and painful when he kicks, feel like there is no cushioning at all.

hormonalmum - another day almost over and survived it's hard I know, you have my sympathies

pigley - that's so nice about your Dad, it's a different ball game this pregnancy malarky once you have one already isn't it?

Right best be off wrote enough might do some knitting and watch Heroes then bed night all restful sleep for us all x

brightredballoon · 14/03/2010 22:24

Hi everyone

Not been on for a few days as DS's S&D bug kept going until Thursday and then had a few palavas to sort out (car was profusely leaking oil had to get that seen to then the washing machine broke down, perfect timing when you have a bug around eh and then did some babysitting for a friend).

SK I really do think this is our last baby too, I am so grateful for the two I already have and hopefully this wee one will arrive. I am looking forward to when the youngest is DD's age (4) as we can really get out and do a lot more things and everything seems a bit easier. Perhaps thats because I have quite, erm how can I describe them, energetic kids?!!

Pamelat I will look out for your thread, we have a 2yr old DS who is quite a handful (don't get me wrong he is an adorable wee soul, very loving and good fun too) so I empathise with you.

Wibb congratulations on your neice, that is a good sized baby!

Sorry for not replying personally to more, I am so tired tonight after yet more decluttering and sorting out the spare room

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 15/03/2010 07:41

Glad everyone had a nice day yesterday. I got breakfast brioche in bed and a lovely jasmine pot plant. DH had made a picnic so we went and had a picnic on the moor with my parents which was fab. DD loved it as well and was jumping across the stepping stones in the river. She did get quite wet though.

Wibblela - congratulations on your niece

Hope all the BH contractions slow down a bit for people! I'm feeling much tighter movement all of a sudden and have had some BH. It feels like the head is really low down already although I'm not sure if that's the case.

SPD really hurting today, I think I overdid it yesterday walking on the moor and getting some gardening done.

Pigley - very sweet about your Dad looking out for you

Angel - Hungry Caterpillar stuff sounds lovely, I had a peek on the website and it's gorgeous.

Hollyoaks · 15/03/2010 08:38

Happy belated mothers days to everyone, hope all the first timers had a relaxing day too. I got a card from the bump as well as one from dd which was really sweet.

Wibbela - congrats on your niece, no wonder she wasn't coming out via the conventional route Baby born at our local hospital recently was 12lb 3oz!!!!!!!!!

Pamelat - congrats for your friend, a girl from work had her ds on Wednesday so its been a busy week.

Angel - the hungry caterpillar stuff is lovely, Next have a lovely cot/bed set in that design too.

Pigley - glad you had a nice family day

BRB - hope your ds is feeling better now.

BH - I get loads of them and there really strong, just watch out for them coming in a regular pattern or getting painful.

Hospital bag - its not packed yet as my ds still has a lot of the newborn stuff, dn is 5 months old and still fits into some of it . However, did get my birthing nightie from Primark, some breast pads, cotton wool and some maternity pads with aloe vera to sooth the stitches

Nursery is now painted and carpet being fitted this afternoon. Can't wait, getting very excited Have also reached the magical 3rd trimester at 29 weeks, jealous of some of you further along but also very nervous about the birth.

Ooh and experienced restless legs over the last two nights, awful!!

newmomma · 15/03/2010 08:43

Morning ladies,

Don't mean to just dump a comment and run but I have to chase off after my 14mo who is about to drop something he shouldn't into the dogs water bowl...

I was wondering if anyone could help. I have had a weird red itchy/lumpy rash on my bump/chest/neck and its driving me nuts. I don't know what's caused it and was wondering whether it was a pregnancy symptom/problem or just something I should see the normal doctor about?

Thanks

Hobnobfanatic · 15/03/2010 10:08

Glad you all had a nice Mother's Day. I got cards from bump, DD, cats and dog - I'm mummy to them all. A lovely voucher for the hairdresser's from DD, and some cute vests for bump - from bump! It's all the home-made stuff I love - a lovely little flower display that DD did at Rainbow's, and some cards she made at school. The best bit was the Mother's Day song she sang me - and danced to. I cried, it was so cute!

Had lunch cooked for me - and DP washed up - then went to the cinema to see Alice, which was great.

Mw came for 1.5 hours, to chat about everything as there are no antenatal classses at the practice at the moment. Heard bump's heartbeat again, which is always lovely. Glad to report that she's turned now, so is no longer breech. Hope she stays that way now!

Went through my birthnotes from my last DD and mw said I should get to hospital at the first sign of a contraction, as my first labour was so fast, there might not be time to hang around at all this time. She also told me what to do if I end up giving birth at home on my own . When you live in the sticks, I guess it's a possibility - a friend's hubbie had to deliver her baby in the bathroom!

Newmomma - not sure about the rash. If in doubt, call a mw - that's my motto!

myfirstbump · 15/03/2010 10:29

Congrats to all who have new babies joining the family! It's not going to be long before the first thread babies start arriving!

Have picked green for the baby's room (can hardly call it a nursery, it's more of a box...). Hoping it's not going to look too green now, but it's a really pale, delicate shade, and we get lovely sun in there in the morning, so fingers crossed!

Angel - glad the police got back to you, but EEK that it was the second time it had happened! Hope the owner sorts it out. And the HC stuff is Gorgeous (with a cap G)

Hollyoaks - at DIY surgery. You're definitely made of stronger stuff than me!

Pigley - bless your Dad. I love it when they look out for you like that. You forget that it must freak them out that their baby girl is having babies of her own. I'm getting all emotional just thinking about it.

Spent the day with my Mom, making a fuss of her on her last 'just' Mother's Day. It was lovely We were going to go and see Alice, but in the end we just lumped on the sofa and watched Up (and both cried in the first 10 mins!) Was it good Hobnob? Your DD sounds so cute with the song and dance! Nothing from bump, but DH was out all day so I thought better of expecting anything in the end.

Hobnobfanatic · 15/03/2010 11:06

Myfirstbump - yep, I loved Alice. Loved Up too - like you, I wept and wept at the first 10 mins. Sooooo sad! BUt then, I cry at anything at the moment!

LuckyC · 15/03/2010 11:07

Morning all, especially all on the 'Feeling Rough' bench. I so hope we all turn the corner and start feeling good for last few weeks - and get some nice early spring sun.

memory, hollyoaks, pigley, angel, Littleowls, sweetkitty, pamelat, twentieth, wibblela thanks so much for support. Really, much appreciated. I am feeling calmer, more positive.

Gils enjoy holiday!

wibblela Is it you with MS and norovirus??? Either sound like way too much on own.

pamelat I would also feel defensive; maybe she is acting up cos of new baby?

hormonal hope you are hanging in there.

newmomma sorry, no experience or advice for you. Do you still have it?

Have has a sudden burst of activity - ordered cot, which has arrived. DH and I walking around it like it's a box of snakes. Borrowed ancient bugaboo frog from neighbour - if we like it, we'll buy it. Anyone any experience of them? And went to NCT nearly new sale and bought a bunch of stuff from memorylapses list.

hey, don't you find that newborn clothes are suddenly looking SCARILY ENORMOUS???

memorylapse · 15/03/2010 11:48

morning all..Ive spent 12 hours in bed..and Im still tired..FBC shows Im still anaemic though, iron tablets are not doing anything..I need a guiness

newmomma..speak to your caregiver about the rash..best to be on the safe side.

33 weeks tomorrow..so am off shopping at the weekend for stuff for my hospital bag..then will get it packed..couldnt sleep properly last night as had lots of low down pressure

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 15/03/2010 13:53

Hello Ladies!

Having a very quick catch-up on all the weekend's posts while I eat my lunch at work, so please excuse the lack of personal comments. Lovely to hear about all the fab mothers' day celebrations / presents / treats!

Hobnob - we went to the cinema too, to see The Hurt Locker, which was excellent. Can't believe it was directed by a woman - it was such a masculine film, really impressed with it.

Had an e-mail from a friend with a 9 month old baby on Friday, offering to lend us their moses basket & stand, car-seat and a baby bjorn carrier, which was a lovely surprise.

Myfirstbump and Hollyoaks, am jealous of you getting your nurseries sorted. MFB - green sounds lovely. We're keeping ours white, but will put lots of brightly coloured pictures up and get bright cushions, bedding, rug etc.

The nursery furniture was supposed to be turning up this week, and I was getting so excited, as we were going to spend next weekend putting it together, but when I phoned today to find out when it would be coming exactly, they said there had been a mix-up with their delivery centre, and now I won't be getting it until the week after easter. So annoying, as I ordered it back in January!

Rachel - that really sucks about your job. Is there any chance you could engineer a good redundancy payment instead of going back to something that doesn't suit?

DH's cousin's wife had her baby at the weekend - 10lb12 by CS. There was a bit of confusion for a couple of hours, after DH's dad had originally written the message down wrongly and told us it was 20lb!

I have a belated 32 week check on Thursday (when I will actually be 33 weeks) and then a meeting with consultant on Friday to go over notes from last time, discuss options for this birth etc.

Getting MASSIVE kicks under my ribs on right hand side, also a sort of stitch-like pain under right boob

Will try to catch up on thread this afternoon. Hope everyone is OK today, lovely sunny day here but I've been too exhausted to take DS out so far [guilt]. He's napping now, but I'll try to make it over to the park this afternoon

cupcakefairy · 15/03/2010 14:39

Dorothea I'm getting stitch-like pains under boobs too; I assumed it was from boobs beginning to burst out of the maternity bras I bought at 18 weeks! I definitely need some new ones...

Jealous of everyone getting nurseries sorted too! We still need to move before I can even think about that...hopefully it's next weekend! Dh started the packing yesterday and I directed him
PIL are buying our cot for us though so have been doing some research!
I'd love to have browns and greens in the bursery as they're my favourite colours but seems to be slim choice out there for anything other than pastel colours! Grr!

Rachel sorry to hear about your job too, the uncertainty is horrible isn't it. Hope they find something that suits you.

Question: How many grobags and what togs are people buying? We got one that's 2.5tog but now worried it'll be far too hot for little May baby.. should I buy a 1tog one too? And will I want a few incase of vomit etc?!

cupcakefairy · 15/03/2010 14:39

bursery I meant nursery!

DorotheaPlenticlew · 15/03/2010 15:01

cupcakefairy, is the stitch-y thing like a stretching sort of pain that gets worse if you take a deep breath? I'm wondering if it's from the baby wedging her foot under there or something. My bras are too small as well though ...

Haven't bought any new grobags so far but I would get a couple, so you can have one in the wash and one clean. We are in Scotland in a drafty flat so, for DS, we used to move between 2.5 tog and 1 tog even during summer (or as it is known here, "summer"), depending on the temp in his room. They come with a little room thermometer. Think it may depend on your location & how drafty or otherwise your home is.

cupcakefairy · 15/03/2010 16:11

Thanks think I will get a 1tog as well. I'll prob be checking the room temp religiously!

No my pain isn't quite like that, more like a kind of strain as if I've slept funny on it. Yours does sound like baby in an awkward position!

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 15/03/2010 16:22

Dorothea and Cupcake - have also had rib-pain from time to time, and was told it is probably the ligaments between the ribs stretching as the ribs expand to make way for the bump.

Cupcake - have a look here and here for some brown and green coloured baby things.

Quick question about Braxton Hicks. What do they feel like? I don't think I've had any, but am only at 32 weeks, so maybe they haven't started yet.

Heard a brilliant birth story from a friend at the weekend. She went in at 42 weeks to be induced but when they examined her they told her she was already 4cm dilated. She hadn't realised she was having contractions! She said she'd felt a bit funny that morning but not really in pain. 1 hour later she was at 6 cm then after another hour was at 8, at which point her waters broke and the baby popped out an hour after that! Her DH only just got there in time!

OP posts:
Hobnobfanatic · 15/03/2010 19:38

Thanks MDM- I LOVE birth stories like that!
If anyone else knows any that are as wonderful, please share!

AnAngelWithin · 15/03/2010 20:02

hello fellow natter boxes!!! how are you all??

MDM great birth story! This is my first pregnancy I have notice BH. My tummy goes all tight and hard but its painless really.

ML You must be needing the rest, so do as your body tells you!!! {nag emoticon needed!!!}
Cupcake my friend has bought me the matching hungry caterpillar sleeping bag (to the gorgeous sleepsuits i bought the other day!!), 0-6m in 1 tog as I think it might be getting warmer then anyway, and if not, will only need one blanket anyway. Better that than a thicker one and overheating.

LuckyC dont rush about too much with the energy burst!!

Heffa I love Jasmine!

BRB Hope everyone is better now bless ya

Hollyoaks, you have done it now!!!

Anyway, I have had a complete hair overhaul today and had a whopping 6 inches lopped off it!! haha. DH was a bit shocked when I got home!!! But I am pleased with it. I was dreading the hormones kicking in and me hating it after it was too late!!! lol.

30 weeks today. MW visit today. Saw my lovely midwife, who, unfortunately, isn't very happy about me having a homebirth, so off to the MW unit for the birth I will be. A bit really but clinging on to the hope of a 6 hour discharge!! Baby measuring 32 weeks. And BREECH please turn baby, please turn!!! I thought I was more uncomfortable than usual the other day and movements werepainful, it much have been turning then. The upside is, I can breath easier lol. I have all sorts running through my head about needing a caesarian or god knows what now

pamelat · 15/03/2010 20:18

Hi all, a friend of mine had her baby this morning! 2 weeks early. She had a baby boy, she was convinced she was having a girl as had felt so vey different to her first pregnancy with DS1.

She says she had a very long labour but that all is now well

Am so excited for her.

2 weeks early though . I am sitting my uni exam 2 weeks before my due date!!

MoggMum · 15/03/2010 21:00

Hi, just trying to catch up on all your news but find it hard to remember who said what.

of all those who had lovely Mothers days yesterday - mine started out well enough with card & chocs from bump & cats! It all went rapidly downhill after that though when MIL played up big time and managed to spoil the day for everyone else !!!!!! Not sure I can forgive her for this one but feel sorry for DH who's somewhat caught in the middle (although he thinks she's out of order too!)

Anyway enough of my moaning, good to hear all the positive birth stories from your friends/relatives. Not long for us now

Still got lots of things to buy (including pram/travel system) and haven't even made a start on nursery yet (what nursery?!!)
Baby will be sleeping in my bedside drawer at this rate

sweetkitty · 15/03/2010 21:10

pamelat - I was 15 days early with my first as well. There was a woman on my last antenatal thread who I think got married and 2 or 3 days later had her baby about 3 or 4 weeks early I think it was, must have been the excitement. There were quite a few earlies but a load more lates (waves at pigley)

Re the sleeping bags, I remember we got one with DD1 (coordinating with everything) and we had a nursery thermometer I was so paranoid about overheating, anyway she was born in July amid a heatwave and spent the first 6 weeks in a vest and nappy, the thermometer was off the scale most of the time, babies do fine in really hot countries as well don't they? No chance of that this time though May in Scotland = freezing and raining.

MDM - it can happen a friend of mine went into hospital when her waters broke to find out she was 7cms with no pain (first as well) she was in about 20 mins then had the baby. We can but hope. BHs I never had any until no2, they are like sharp pains low down kind of like a cramp or tummy pain, they pass quite quickly. Can be quite sore at times and make you think you are going into labour but they usually stop as soon as they start.

cupcake - we don't have a nursery either, just a drawer in the big DDs room. Am loving the idea of the hungry caterpillar babygros will need to have a look.

I must admit I am loving all the pastel blue maybe because it isn't pink lol. Bought another 2 little outfits today but am a bit about babygros, have bought some 0-3 month ones that go up to 14lbs but need some smaller ones but they only go up to 9lbs 4ozs, I think M&S and Next do newborn up to 11lbs as chances are this one will be hitting 9lbs I reckon.

brightred - aren't all kids energetic by design, I'm just feeling a bit low I think I do suffer from prenatal depression, just feeling so immobile and sore. Definitely our last baby no way I could be pregnant again, it's really taking it's toll on my body.

ML - I am taking a Sanatogen multivit which has iron and a Spatone sachet for extra, after DD3 I got very anaemic and rundown so am trying to boost my reserves to avoid it this time. The spatone isn't too bad I just mix it in with orange juice.

brightredballoon · 15/03/2010 21:17

For those looking for grobags make sure you check your local TK Maxx, they often have the fully branded Grobags for £14.99 instead of £28 + in the shops.

Just had an enquiry for DH's car, woohoo hope it sells this week then we can pick up the people carrier at the weekend! If I get it before Easter I think I will take the kids down south for a few nights to see my parents, I know I will be 36/37wks pregnant but surely if I take my hossie bag with me it might be alright? (eek hadn't actually realised I would be so far on, maybe the 7/8hour journey might be a bit too much alone)

I bought a swaddle blanket today, its a lightweight cotton so I can use a celluar blanket ontop if baby is too cool and to also keep the baby from wriggling around. I found it a godsend with DS who loved to be swaddled but could break free in minutes and start crying again!

MDM I haven't a clue what a BH feels like and this is my 3rd child! Sometimes I get a really tight feeling across the middle of my bump which I am unsure if that is one but otherwise I haven't a clue!
