I'm sorry I've not posted in a while or that I've not responded to other's posts - please don't be mad with me!

I'm officially 30 weeks today and am finally looking pregnant - it's taken this long! I just looked really fat before, but in the last week or so bump has popped out. Pain was horrible so MS doc put me back on Amitriptyline to help, which it is doing and is helping me sleep some more. I am aware though that the baby could become addicted, and the first week she'll be going through withdrawal - has anyone else gone through this?

newmomma - from my experience BFing was WAY easier second time around, I don't know if it was because DD2 was 4 weeks later and 3lbs heavier so much more advanced IYSWIM, she was straight on no problems. Also being a second time mum I knew exactly what to avoid doing, DD1 was jaundiced and very sleepy and wouldn't latch whereas with DD2 I knew to put her on every 2 hours at least in the beginning to bring the milk in, didn't stress as much about it and it was great. DD3 the same.

I still think this LO is lying transverse kicks are all over the place, he needs to be heading towards the exit.

re scratchmitts, I haven't even bothered this time round!! I have bought sleepsuits with the arms that fold over at the end. Found scratchmitts a total waste of time. I didn't bother with them at all last time round either, dd2 ended up a thumb sucker!!! Even when she was tiny. Was vry cute seeing her in the pram sucking her thumb!

ML hope you get it sorted. I have been furiously scratching my arms just lately to the point ive made it bleed a lot. I didn't even think about OC really.....

Midwife tomorrow. Appointment was cancelled on monday. Baby feels like a lead weight lately. Very painful on my bladder when it moves around. I am totally exhausted after having 2 mad days sorting through the kids bedrooms and ebaying. Need to catch up now!!!

wibblela- think that it has to be a long period for addiction to happen, i was on amatriptyline when i found out i was havig Ds, doctors didnt take me off it for a good while, only when i pointed it out. plus if your planning on BF then some of it will be passed over in your milk anyway. i wouldnt worry for the moment as they will advise you if it happens.

ML- i would sit in midwives office until he can give you something to stop the itching...stupid question probably, have you tried having a bath, with some oats in, as i know that stopped my aunt itching. hope they find a reason/cure! you dont sem to be having it at all easy this pregnancy!

newmomma- i too am hoping that BF is easier this time around, as even though i continued for a long time, it took me a while to realise when he needed it, am hoping to be a pro this time!

i think i may take Ds out on his bike this morning, as the sun is shining, althought its very cold. plus i may get the libary bokks back before they are overdue...may be a first!

MW has just phoned..turns out that when they checked my bloods a month ago because of the itching..they didnt check my bile acids..just LFTS....midwife says my latest LFTS have come back abnormal..but the bile acids she took can take up to two weeks..Ive got to go straight to DAU now so they can monitor baby

ML eek, hope you get the results sooner i'm itching like mad too but its just bump where my skin now looks like a road map, DM suggested a loofa for some gentle scratching and its less likely to rip my stretch marks apart (which is what my nails are doing atm)

Watched OBEM at 4am this morning (drunk, snoring DP decided to 'cuddle' me all fecking night - might seem nice but not when he's built like an octopus!) - all i can say is i'm going to miss Joy and Fabio, they made me chuckle

Sun is shining here too itshappenedagain and its DP and mine day off so we're going for a long walk around one of the parks, might pick up a nephew or 2 on the way and let the boys play footie (i'm too kind esp after a sleepless night!!)

ML- Hope everything is ok.

I had a MW appointment this morning. My GTT test results were in along with my 28 week blood results.
All the results were high, Blood cell counts etc, Low iron so now need a suppliment for that. GTT has come back High (6.8) Explained about drinking the wrong flavour and she wasnt sure on the effect so said she would ring the diabetic nurse to check.
Then measured Baby.. Measuring 31.5 weeks instead of 29. Sample lit up the test strip like a xmas tree! Tested positive for everything except Protein! Keytones, Leucocytes,blood and sugar (3+). So with that amount of sugar and the measurements means im off to the consultant again next week!
My sample is also bring sent off for tests as it could mean an infection.
Typically the only thing that was ok was my BP- excatly the thing that was the trouble before!!
Oh why is nothing ever simple!

Hi everyone
Sorry I haven't posted for ages, this thread moves so fast! I'm still struggling massively with OC, am now on 1000mg per day of the ursodeoxochloric acid, plus vit K, plus Piriton, plus several baths per day in Oilatum and then Aquaeus with menthol cream, plus Phernegan for nights, also codeine phosphate because the urso affects my stomach, and for the pain of red raw skin. The poor baby is going to be rattling like a chemist shop. Unfortunately (sorry for those of you who are suffering also) nothing works. Now have to have a weekly scan, blood tests and consultant appointment. I cannot wait to have my baby, don't know how I am going to get through the next few weeks.

ML - That is exactly what happened to me. They are so stupid, the only definitive test for OC is your bile acid levels. Your LFT can remain normal for quite some time, despite your bile acids being massively high. Also they seem quick to dismiss OC if you haven't had it in previous pregnancies. I have to say now I am being treated the consultant has been fantastic. Hope you get some results soon - think they have to send bile acids to Birmingham, which is why they take longer, mine take 4 days each time they are taken, so they will have them before the 2 weeks is up. Take care of yourself.

Seem to have fallen off the MN planet lately. What with wedding only 3 weeks away (still no dress ? eeek) and working full time, running a business and being so tired all the time I just don?t seem to have enough time in the day. I have tried to catch up on everyone?s posts and but have failed miserably - they seem to get away from me.

I haven?t met anyone new around me who is also preggy and I am starting to feel a little isolated. We have a parent craft class next week (whole day 9-4) and then nothing after that, would have loved to have met some local ladies. Don?t really know anything about this whole pregnancy lark and the ONE friend who is pregnant is in South Africa and that obviously isn?t a help. sighhh I want my mommy!!!

Just catching up on everyone's news. Such a lot to read!

Sorry to all those who are feeling itchy. It seems very common during pregnancy, but it's not something I have experienced.

ML - hope the monitoring goes ok at
the DAU.

Pigley - I feel the same, nothing is ever simple is it!

Sorry for this long and winding ramble! Perhaps I'm overreacting!
I went for a growth scan yesterday (31+6), this is down to the blood pressure saga (which when the MW did it last it was 120/70). They estimated the fetal weight as 1610g which I think is about 3lb 5oz. Now they tell me that this is below the 10th centile and I have to go back over the next two weeks for more scans - doppler flow and growth. The dot they plotted on the graph is literally just below (touching) the bottom line. I am only 5ft 1, so this could just be a mini baby like me. I am very worried about it all as DSIL had a 32 week growth scan, LO was small (2lb 5oz!) and she had a CS the next day, I know this won't happen but you do dwell on others experiences. I know my LO is much bigger than this but I can't help but worry that something isn't right. Then I look at the different measurements such as head circumference which is at the right stage, but the abdomen and femur length are smaller than the dates (all thanks to some nice graphs I googled upon). Please tell me I'm being irrational and worrying over nothing, I don't mind! I have rambled on a bit and perhaps need to gain some perspective! I know many of you have experince of big babies, due to diabetes - but has anyone had any experiences with growth scans or having smaller babies?

Kateyjane - sorry you're having a rough time. OC sounds horrendous, it must drive you mad. Is there anything else they can try?

CornishSAMum - you sound v.busy! Sorry you're feeling isolated, it's very easy during pregnancy or with young babies I think. Whereabouts in Cornwall are you? I'm just north of Dartmoor so pretty close to the border.

Littleowls - that all sounds quite stressful, not surprised you're worried. I don't know anything about it I'm afraid although the sonographer at my growth scan told me that the measurements can be a bit inaccurate depending on what kind of picture they get. I hope everything's OK and you're able to get some reassurance from someone.

Cornish - I have the opposite problem here - almost everyone I know is having/just had a baby! There are 5 babies due at my work alone, then neighbours and other friends. Everyone's all a bit 'oh another one' about it all now . And a lot of them are second babies, so sometimes I feel like I'm asking stupidly obvious questions, and that sometimes people forget how momentous a first pregnancy is. Well, I know every pregnancy is but when you're heading into the unknown and people say "oh wait until [random future event] happens", I just want to stamp and jig. Help me, don't patronise me, please!

I hope everyone having tough appointments is ok. Pigley, ML, Owls and SquirtsMum - you could do without all that extra stuff taking up valuable thinking space.

kateyjane and ML - hope the itching gets sorted out soon, it sounds awful. My legs have been itchy but I think it is just excessive amounts of central heating, nothing like what you are struggling with. I hope you find something to relieve it soon.

pigleychez - hope you get sorted out soon too, at least if there is a problem it can be treated hopefully.

CornishSAMum - sorry you're feeling isolated. Do you have an NCT group or similar nearby? You can join the NCT at any time including after the birth - maybe that would help?

littleowls - I have no experience of small babies. All I can say is that my friend recently had her second baby (a little girl). Her first was born at the same time as my DS1 and was 10lb plus (ouch!). Because of this, they gave her an extra growth scan at 33 weeks which they reported as being on the large side, so they scanned her nearly every week from 36 weeks on to make sure the baby stayed under 10lb, and the plan was to induce her if the baby looked as if t was growing too big. Needless to say, the baby arrived two days ago, nearly two weeks overdue and was.....6lb 1oz! A little thing! So, all I think I am trying to say, is that growth scans are not that accurate, a lot depends on their interpretation, and hopefully everything will be fine. Hope that helps.

A question for you all - does anyone know anything about the strep B test that you can get at the MW? My friend (another one) mentioned that there had been a suggestion that all pregnant women are routinely rested for strep B at 36 weeks, as it can cause infection in newborns - I think they pick it up when they are on their way out! But, a pregnant woman can have strep B and not know about it because it causes no symptoms - is that right?

I am just concerned because DS1 had an infection within 24 hours of birth last time, and there is no way of us knowing where he picked it up and I have always wondered if he picked it up from me somehow. So, I would like to get tested to make sure everything is OK, but not sure how common this is, or whether you even can get tested if you request it? Any advice appreciated!

The itching sounds awful, my sympathies to you. My tummy is slightly itchy, mainly at night, and even that is annoying but nothing compared to what you are going through

I have just found out that 2 mummy friends from when I was pregnant with DD are due the same week as me. We had lost contact but should be nice to meet up again when "off" work.

I got a quote for a cleaner last night. £12 an hour, think will still do it but pricier than expected????

I have a hopi ear candle treatment tomorrow (never before) to try to sort out he imbalance/muffled sensation in my ears.

Tomlin if you have any discharge you could ask the MW to be swabbed and if you have Group B it will come back as showing that (amongst the reason for the discharge) thats how I found out I was a carrier when I had my first child. Alternatively you can got the Group Strep B website and order a test that you have to pay for. You are right, your DS could have picked it up from you - my 2nd child did.

Pamelat I recently got a cleaner quote (was hoping to get someone in 6-8wks postnatally) and it was £27 for 3 hours (2 women here for 1.5hrs). £12 an hour does seem a bit high unless you live in London?

Myfirstbump - that must be really annoying! It is easy to forget how exciting and consuming it is with your first. I used to hate it when people did that 'oh, you think that's bad, just you wait' or treat your questions as if the answers are obvious. I hope it helps to be able to ask on here anyway

Tomlin - I've not heard anything about the strep B testing. If you're worried it's probably worth asking your midwife though, especially if your DS had an infection.

Nope, just live in the midlands. had 2 quotes, £12 an hour and £11 an hour.

Will try for more quotes. I only want/need one for 6 months or so, unless this baby sleeps when hes born (DD never did!)
