Due May 2010: Into the third trimester we go, can the bumps get any bigger?

So here's the continuation of the thread previously known as Due May 2010: Where we get a 'bloom' just in time for the christmas mayhem???
Let's see if this one lasts up until the first birth... Knowing how chatty we can be, I doubt it!

LuckyC - glad you had a fab time in Bruges, I must watch the movie - so many people have recommended it! The 20minute Ikea trip was admittedly a one-off. This time took us a bit longer though, as we had to go through all the room-displays to try out chairs, but ended up getting what we wanted (including a chair for the nursery for the night feeding and one for our study), and DH got his fish & chips in the cafe, so he was happy too.

Had my 30 week m/w appointment this morning - yet another different m/w, but she was really nice and had a lovely student midwife with her who was really enthusiastic. Measured 28cm, but M/W explained to the student one that although average is same no. of cms as no. of weeks, +/- 2cm either side is fine. They both said I had a "lovely neat little bump". Am sure they tell everyone their bump is lovely, but but irrationally felt a little stab of maternal pride, as if it was something the baby had achieved!

Watched OBEM last night with DH, my favourite episode so far! MFB - I got very attached to Fabio and Joy too, they're hilarious, especially Fabio setting up his sound system and just being ridiculously calm the whole time, then not knowing what a babygro was! Even DH had tears in his eyes when they finally had their baby.

Angel and MyFirstBump - can I join the Shropshire meet up too?

anangelwithin Cant believe you only put 51b on ..ive put 2 bloody stone on! My auntie came round yesterday and said 'oh dear, youve lost your cheekbones just like I did'! Not impressed at all

luckyc glad you enjoyed Bruges, we go to Lille at christmas and thats magical too with the little christmas markets and giant ferris wheel (not that I dare go on it!)

AnAngel - only 5lb?! I swear I've put a stone on per boob - let alone my bump weight!

Also cried a lot at OBEM last night. Joy's baby was so beautiful! I got very annoyed with the five-timer refusing to get off her back; I'd have lost my patience as her mw, which is probably why I'm not in the caring profession!

I must look into the pros and cons of having your waters broken...

Hello everyone - I have been of mn for a while - trying to get things sorted but failing miserably.
Hope everyone is feeling ok and better than I am!
I have skimmed the last 2 pages but that's it, so do not know everyones news. Hope that everything is going well.

I am in absolute agony all the time, pain in abdomen which is nerve related. Bump is obviously squashing everything up and I am paying the price. I am not sleeping very well either so feel like a bad mum as I have little patience for dc. Much to my shame I am horrendous when I am in short of sleep.
Last night I ended up on the sofa crying because of the pain, lack of sleep and feeling generally sorry for myself. I feel a little better today, but not much.
I am seeing the mw later this week, so see if she can suggest anything else that I have not already tried.
I am counting down to finishing work - only a few weeks to go.

LuckyC - glad you had a good time in Bruges, it sounds fantastic.

Hormonalmum - sorry you're struggling a bit It is tough when you're running on empty. Hope you're midwife can offer you some help. Can you take things easy at work for a while or is that not possible (can't remember what you do, sorry )?

Heffa - wow fame at last!!! You know I will have to go and buy it now, was it about DD1 having such skinny arms the scratchmitts wouldn't stay on and it was a hot July so she was in a vest, I used those little cotton hair bobbles to keep them on

hormonalmum - oh no sounds like you are having a time of it, have you not been given painkillers, I don't know what I would do without the cocodamol. I don't want to take them all the time but take one with a normal paracetamol about twice a day. I don't function on lack of sleep either.

Primark is the place for scratchmitts well, £1 for a few pairs, if you do need them they go through loads as if they are like mine they tend to sick on them a lot.

They tend to need them for a few weeks only if they are scratchers that is, some are, some aren't

a quick post as Ive just wasted the day asleep due to being awake 2 nights on the run with heartburn, back ache, rib pain etc...

Hormonalmum..Im sorry to hear you are in that much pain..is there nothing your caregivers can do?...I really feel for you

weight wise..Ive put on...nothing as am still lighter than I was at the start

On the meet up note..is anyone in the north west or cheshire? Im about 5 miles from Chester..technically in North Wales but not really..Im only 20 miles from Liverpool

DH and I assembled the pram and tried out all the combinations of car seat/carrycot etc...then packed it away in a cupboard..I dont want to be looking at it as Im superstitious..it is lovely though and you get a lot for your money

hello all!
yes think this thread will be massive same as me! am about to request on FB so will some one add me!!!

ended up in hospital yesterday, baby not moved and didnt even with much poking. they could find HB on sonicade, so put me on trace where the little buggers FHR kept droping and peaking...que many registrars and midwives watching trace, then had mobile scanner brought in to reveal baby tugging on umbilical cord causing the dip then leting gowhen it all got to much, few more prods with scanner and all was back to normal. was told however to take it easy as have protien in urine and headaches( which i have put down to stressing) but if BP was high (its always low) then they would have admitted me for bedrest. they were very lovely and did feel that i was timewasting when she fianlly found FHB!
for all those in shrewsbury/ shropshire, my mum and dad live there and did think about moving back for more support at one point!

itshappened again..I had a similiar experience last week..hardly any movement..trip to hospital..then whilst on the ctg baby's hb dipped then shot up..so they watched it and it went back to normal..but I came home feeling very anxious...spoke to my MW who said the little devils can gran hold of their cords..causing a dip in heartrate

Re weight: I have put on about 2 stone, I put on 2.5 stone with DS1 but it all came off pretty quick. Lots and lots of walking with the pram when DS1 was a baby, to get him to sleep did the trick! Hope it will be the same with this one. Although I too just cannot control the eating at the moment - I just cannot have a cup of tea without a chocolate bar or biscuit at the moment!

I really struggled with BF first time round, so hoping it will go better this time round. DS1 was taken into SCBU for a week after he was born, because he picked up an infection, and he was fed through a tube up his nose and into his stomach so it totally messed up his rooting reflex. I managed 6 weeks and then my milk went down. My DM was really supportive - i cried the first time I fed DS1 FF because I thought I was poisoning him [random post natal hormonal moment] and my DH and DM were brilliant at reassuring me and telling me I just needed to make sure DS1 was not hungry which is after all the most important thing! However other family members not so supportive and kept telling me all about their friends who had had difficulties but had struggled on - not helpful when you already feel guilty about "giving up". You just have to do what works for you IMO and everyone else can keep their opinions unless you ask for them [MN members excluded from this, obv!].

SK - thanks for the tip about Primark scratchmitts, we used to lose them all the time with DD. Got a bit paranoid about them because my nephew scratched his face after his born and still has a tiny scar from that

Tomlin - sorry you had difficulties with bfing as well, it's so hard when people are unsupportive or insensitive about it I never understand why people feel the need to comment randomly.

yet another sleepless night..every night without fail..the itching starts...had the blood test for OC 5 weeks ago which was normal(so they told me)
MW has re tested for it on Tuesday and said..get the result when I next go to clinic..which isnt for 2 weeks...Im thinking of ringing DAU tomorrow..Ive scratched all the skin off my feet and hands..ewww

That sounds horrible ML Hope you manage to get the results over the phone, 2 weeks is a long wait if you're suffering.

Breastfeeding can be such hard work - why is it that even though people say to you for months in advance how hard it might be you don't really listen?
I think I just thought 'its sucking a nipple - how hard can it be'?? But it took us at least 16 weeks to get sorted (the tongue tie didn't help).
Does anyone know if its as hard the 2nd time round - was it me that needed to learn how to do it or the baby? Hope I don't struggle again quite so much with DD...

Sorry to hear of you itchy problems ML - perhaps you could ask the MW to try and get you some results sooner than that? Have you tried putting anything on your skin? I've had awful itchy/dry skin but not quite as bad as yours by the sounds of things. Doublebase is very good - as is Aveeno.

LOVING(!) OBEM... My husband isn't much interested in it - so every Wed monring when DS goes down for his morning nap I get to sit down and watched it recorded from the night before - always, always end up in tears. Fab show. Although it does seem to show the quickest/slowest/hardest worst case scenarios... The only good water birth they've shown lasted about 20 seconds! Not very inspiring...
