So here's the continuation of the thread previously known as Due May 2010: Where we get a 'bloom' just in time for the christmas mayhem???
Let's see if this one lasts up until the first birth... Knowing how chatty we can be, I doubt it!

ml hope you get more support from dh and dm soon. My dh thinks about nothing but work, which is obviously important but its not the only thing in his life!
squirtsmum hope you dh ok now?

Went to the birth talk yesterday, it was a privately run class but they offer ante natal. And it was much better than nhs ran class anyway! There was 8 other pg ladies and we all had lunch together. The mw's there were lovely, felt much more supported than I have been. Most mtb there were first timers and they are all experiencing the same problem - no antenatal classes locally, unable to look around any of the hospitals due to swine flu (what swine flu?) and classes at hospital are all full. How awful for the new mums. But at least I have found a nice support group who offer lots of classes.

I am now thinking of giving birth at a birthing centre 50 mins away, going to call them so I can have a look round. You can even be transferred from your local hospital for post natal care and you can stay in up to a week to help with breastfeeding etc.
Just worried if about being far away from ds2 as lack of people who are willing to help look after him while I'm pre occupied!

AnAngelWithin · 28/02/2010 09:22

morning all. so much to catch up on again!

ML hope your DH doesn't slip back into that. You know where I am if you need me.

SK hope you find a car! We decided on the zafira and search high and low for the model we wanted and one eventually turned up and we fell in love with it (only for someone to write it off for us 18 months later and now we have a crappier version that we hate cos thats all we could get with the insurance payout ) And no we haven't decided on names. We really liked Willow for a girl but kinda gone off it now! Nothing at all for a boy!

Mustbemad, glad you enjoyed the class

Squirtsmum hope your DH is ok, and hope you are ok after your fall. Look after yourself. Fab news about the apartment!!! )and the heels!! )

Den take care of yourself!!

welcome also to the newbies

Well I have dared to make a list of everything I want to get done before the baby comes. Think it will take longer than 12 weeks to complete though as it included decorating and a new kitchen floor!!

The house just feels so cluttered to me at the moment and annoying the life out of me. Stupid things like too many dvds on the shelves that need sorting, so have been looking for a cheap cabinet to match the rest of my furniture. DH worries cos normally when I start ordering and rearranging furniture, I go into labour a couple of days after, so I am restraining myself for now for his sake haha.

I have given the kids a list of things to do to help sort out their bedrooms this morning which they are cracking on with. I'm just having my cup of tea then I need to get motivated to go help seeing as they are being good enough to make a start!! I feel exhausted though as I was up all night with DD2 on friday night, she had tummy ache and felt sick and the runs Thankfully seems better now though.

I finally got my new maternity tops from newlook the other day. No more cold tummy haha. Only cos I found a 15% off code as well and had money in my paypal as I sold some stuff on ebay as well! Got a lovely chunky hooded cardi, nice and warm! Reduced to 12 from 25.

Got homevisit tomorrow, 28 weeks. Hoping it will be the nice midwife and I can have a chat about the HB possibility with her. Need to remember to print off my maternity grant form as well for her to fill in ready to post the week after.

Babys been very active this weekend. 15 hours constant squirming yesterday! Had bad heartburn by late evening, wondering if its cos the baby was so active?

Carikube · 28/02/2010 10:20

Morning all!
Squirtsmum hope your DH is ok and congrats on the new apartment.
Den hope you're feeling better - getting that sort of bug is horrendous at the best of times but when pg it's even worse!

Went round for dinner with friends last night so am exhausted today as obviously we couldn't have a lie-in this morning as DD was ready to get up. These friends have volunteered to help out with DD when I go in to labour so our little rota is starting to take shape and helping me feel a lot better already.

It's still raining here and looks like it will be that way for the day; I think it could be a curl up on the sofa kind of day really...

itshappenedagain · 28/02/2010 10:49

morning all!

everyone seems to be having very eventful week. hope all better now and getting things sorted out.

sweetkitty- ive decided ona girls name, but have a back up incase she doesnt look like that name...but am still figuring out boys names ( just incase) ive only told my mum in RL as people do that face and say really, and it can be very of putting!

ds let me have a bit of a lie in this morning, and played in his room...only thing is i now have to go tidy up all the other bits he has got out...oh well was worth it!

Angel i too make list of things which ahve to be done and am in the process of looking at furniture for my lounge, and am still trying to find a wardrobe and bookcase for Ds's room, have to save some pennies first though! strange that this is the first time i have been like this, but was lodging with someone when preg with Ds so wasnt much i could do!

anyway im off to have a bth, change beds and sort Ds's bedroom.
take care all

pigleychez · 28/02/2010 11:04

Welcome to the newbies

ML- Glad baby is moving around more now.
Hope your sort everything else out soon too.

MD- Enjoy Ikea today

Happendagain- Id love to get outside planting but it hasnt stopped raining for days now and its so grim and depressing!

SK- Sorry to hear about your car nightmares but aleast you are narrowing down the list now.

Den- Hope you feel better soon

Squirt- Hope DP is ok. Yay for the new flat too

Mustbemad- Glad you enjoyed your birth talk. Its sounds lovely.
Terrible theres no classes around though

DD appears to have sold her soul to the devil and has been a right madam the past week! Sooo demanding and stroppy. Everything has to be on her terms and she has developed a lovely loud scream! I swear she has Anger Management issues! Guess thats the joys of a toddler but could really do without at the mo!

My friends hen weekend away cant come round quick enough as I really need a break.
Been helping to arrange a few suprises too for the hen which is fun

The inlaws are up this afternoon to sit for DD for a few hours whilst we go to the cinema. All part of the operation to ease DD into being left with others in preperation for May. I havent been to the cinema in about 2 years!
Been running around like a mad woman cleaning/tidying though this morning as MIL is a huge clean freak and I dread to think what she thinks of my messy house!

newmomma · 28/02/2010 11:05

Hi ladies - blimey I seem to have missed loads on here.

Apologies for not being able to read through everyones posts - but just wanted to say something quickly and then I'll go back and spend some time browsing...

I have finally made a decision on the double buggy issue; (yay!) one less thing to stress about between now and May.

But I need to begrudglingly get rid of my Quinny Buzz - I should probably post in the For Sale section but they seem to want my credit card details?

I bought it last December for my son born January 2009. It has hardly been used (literally no more than 30 times) and is in fantastic condition. It is the newer 2009 model, which has the upgraded breaking system and ball bearings(?) in the wheels - in the Storm colour.

Anyway - if anyone is interested I need to sell it to afford the next double pushchair - just email me and I can send over some pictures/more info.

I also have the Dreami Carrycot to match which is brand new - I never even took it out of the box.

Sorry if this seems brazen to post on here but I wondered if anyone else due around the same time as me would be interested. My new pushchair will arrive in three weeks so you could have it from then.

Oh, and I'm in Reading, Berkshire.

memorylapse · 28/02/2010 12:10

Hello all...cannot beleive beleive that after today I will be able to say that my baby is due next month!!..scary stuff!

Slept for 12 hours yesterday..woke up full of energy and cleaned the house from top to bottom..so spent yesterday evening with raging back ache and pelvis pain..doh!
DS1 slept at a mates last night so it gave DH and I a chance to chat...he said he is just tired and head office have been putting a lot of pressure on him, coupled with the worry of the ongoing dispute with our former LL to get our deposit back, our inability to sell our car etc..he said he just feels a bit down..he said hes not depressed..but fed up that nothing seems to ever be straight forward for us..(I know how he feels).

went to bed at midnight and didnt get up until 11am!..I never stay in bed that long..feel like a right slattern! Im guessing my body needed the sleep though as Ive not slept properly for weeks.

Still no interest in our citroen berlingo which has been on Autotrader for 2 weeks now...weve put it on a bit cheaper and its in lovely condition..next step is ebay..it has to go..we need a 7 seater

Den26 · 28/02/2010 13:32

Hi All, feeling a bit more normal today thank god, very tired though although it didn't help that the other half fell in the door at 3am this morning blind drunk lay awake raging at him while he slept oblivious. Hes gonna have to get his priorities right soon. He thought he'd done ok as he'd put a load of washing on for me and cooked my dinner yesterday!!!!!???? Sitting quietly raging on here while ignorng him - what a great sunday

Sorry for moaning again...

Sweetkitty - parasite thing makes sense but also a bit weird!! Have tried the 'i'm creating another human being' but obviously fallen on deaf ears...

Angel, good luck with getting through your list!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 28/02/2010 15:47

Den26 - sorry to hear you've been feeling rubbish. Glad you're feeling better today but at your OH.

Squirtsmum - congratulations on finding a nice apartment, sounds lovely Hope your DH is OK.

SK - have fun playing dollies

Angel - good luck with your list!

Pigley - sorry your DD is being challenging! DD here likes her bed but is still teething her canines so sleep is a bit disturbed and she's a being a little horror too. We just had a nightmare trip to Pizza Hut - we drove to the next town so she could have a nap and then lunch but she just screamed and wiggled and moaned her way through lunch. Hope you get to have a lovely afternoon off

ML - glad you've been able to have a chat with your DH, I hope that's helped you.

AnAngelWithin · 28/02/2010 17:00

ah den poor you. Men eh?? I am glad my DH doesn't drink!

Well I have done 12 loads of washing in total over the weekend. Just put it all in the right buckets ready to take upstairs. Gutted and tidied the boys room today, put away £250 worth of grocery shopping then realised that £25 worth was missing damned tescos. They refunded me and the delivery charge as well but still a pain! Also sorted through all 4 kids wardrobes and chest of drawers and got a bag to sell on ebay and a binbag full for charity. Cleared out the bookcase as well of all the excess books and got 2 binbags full to get rid of. They all fit on there now!!!

Though I think I have traumatised DS1.... an advert came on the telly for baby milk, going on about breastfeeding being best. He just looked at me and I asked him how exactly he thinks you feed babies. At the age of nearly 11, he thinks its all bottles and thats that! When I explained to him that you can breastfeed, he started killing himself laughing being immature like boys do, saying it was disgusting etc, so i asked him how he thought i fed him sums up his face. DD1 age 8 was much more mature about it saying it was lovely

memorylapse · 28/02/2010 17:01

Den..grrr at your DH..I would have made him sleep in the garden

Im in agony..I decided to hoover even though my back was aching..and Ive stirred my sciatica up...the pain in my back is excrutiating and down my leg

Ive popped my bump pic up on the FB page..taken today...I look like a whale!

Carikube · 28/02/2010 17:05

ML - watch out for the hoovering - my physio told me that out of all the household chores, that's the worst one to try and do so obviously I will be going nowhere near ours until after LO is born

Newmomma what double have you decided to go for? We've just been in to town to have a look at some and having tried to push a couple and collapse them, I'm now even more confused. The ones I thought I wanted just felt too heavy to try and lift in to the car etc so now I don't know what to do.

memorylapse · 28/02/2010 17:20

Carikube..oh I didnt realise that..well in that case..its no more hoovering for me....the SPD is bad enough without this

pamelat · 28/02/2010 19:19

Hello all doesnt feel like long now, single figure weeks! Am 30 weeks tomorrow.

Had a lovely weekend. Its been DH's birthday. Had a day out to the National Space Centre yesterday, then a meal out (DD was babysat over night). I even stayed up until midnight! Had a lie in and then a day out today with DH's family and a huge Sunday lunch.

My only grumble for today (always has to be something hey ) is my back, its killing me. I find that during the day I am kind of ok, I can carry DD ok and get on with normal life but come 6pm the the aches start. This is despite a bath every evening. I also ache around my pelvis too, despite being smaller this pregnancy than last time too.

I work Mon - Weds and its always nice come Sunday evening to know I will be having a sit down

brightredballoon · 28/02/2010 23:13

Evening everyone

I am again up way past my bedtime, I am finding the children (4 and 2) really demanding during the day that once they are in bed and the chores have been done I am enjoying the peace and quiet of an evening. I would benefit from more sleep though I imagine.

newmomma what double pram did you decide on? We think we will go for the nipper as I can attach a kiddyboard to that for DD who cannot manage the uphil 1 mile walk home from the shops where we live. Just picked up my phil and teds sport from the pram centre as it was in for a service and think I might sell it as its all sparkling clean (I washed all the fabrics in that techwash which keeps the waterproofing of the fabric) and it has a brand new basket on it and looks pretty much as new so I should advertise it now save me cleaning it up to sell again. Just unsure if I would regret it as I really did find it was fantastic when DS was born and so mobile getting in and out of everywhere... hmmm just hard to decide as seems silly to have two prams in the garage and they seem to be selling for about £220-£260 on ebay at the moment.

TCH my DS is also getting his upper Es in, his sleep is disrupted and his temper is awful! I am finding anaesbol helping his paind though.

ANAngel wow you have serious nesting going on! Good on you, I have been doing a spring clean and being quite ruthless in what we are keeping. My two have birthdays around Christmas and with Christmas presents as well suddenly we had far too many toys and clothes. Feels good to be getting it sorted. Have no idea how you manage to control it all with 4 children!

ML bet you felt good for all that sleep. With all the stress and worry you have had lately it is no wonder you needed it. You just gave me a big shock saying about tomorrow saying due a baby next month, I am the same as elective section will be week commencing 26th April.... oh my goodness!

SK which car is it that you have decided on? we have spent a lot of time this weekend at dealers, we are now thinking of either Grand Picasso or the Grand Scenic, hoping to not have to spend more than £12k. Need to sort DH's car out in preparation for a part exchange or private sale

Welcome to the new ladies, this "due in" is huge, it will be so exciting as everyone starts delivering

newmomma · 01/03/2010 09:07

Morning all...

Carikube and brightredballoon we went for an iCandy Peach Blossom in the end. Was a bit at the price but it was far and away the nicest/lightest/easiest to use/most compact etc.

I can't wait to pick it up - I feel all excited about it!

I thought about the P&T but my sis-in-law had one and had no end of problems with it. Its also much heavier than the one we've bought. And the Blossom folds up mega small so no problems fitting it into my small carboot.

Its cheaper than having to change my car!

Am really struggling with being hugely fat (oh god and I' only 30 weeks...) and a 13 mo. Feel tired all the time, fighting with DH, awful pain due to a torn ligament in my pelvis. Still - the physio says I should not pick up my son for two weeks and then it'll heal quicker. As if! Am just looking forward to not being pg anymore. And feel a little guilty about it as I never felt like with with DS1. Like I'm already letting down no2 before she's even arrived. I suppose that's just a product of an unexpected (and sooner than would have been planned) pregnancy. Anyway. Monday morning whinge over...

Anyone interested in my Quinny??

Hollyoaks · 01/03/2010 09:33

Hi all

Welcome to the newbies, we really need an updated list.

ML - sorry your having problems with dh and dm, as hard as it is please try not to stress about it too much for yours and lo's sake.

Den - glad your feeling better.

Squirtsmum - hope your dh is feeling better, funnily enough my dh was also complaining of chest pain a few weeks ago. Turns out him and his ds had a small amount of fluid around their heart caused by a viral infection that causes one-sided chest pain and slight swelling . I'm liking the idea of some new heels too, there is no chance of wearing them atm but saw quite a few when out shopping at the weekend that I would have loved to have.

Angel - lol at your ds's reaction to bf.

SK - I think we have decided on Joshua William for a boy though we've told our family a decoy name to avoid the mixed reactions though still stuck for a girl. We still like Grace for a girl but dh is not sold on it yet.

Had a nice weekend, sil had dd overnight and we had a meal and then watched Avatar 3D in the new big comfy seats at the back with free popcorn. There was no way I was watching a 3 hour film in the normal seats with a belly as big as this.

Sorry if I've missed anyone, hope everyone is well.

SquirtsMum · 01/03/2010 09:49

Happy Monday morning all

Thank you all for your concern over DP and our lovely friday A&E drama. He is absolutely fine, well a bit of pain but nothing as serious as it was on friday. The hospital said something isn't right but because the pain had moved and now it more muscular than heart (which is what we think it started off as and they recognise there was heart pain) they given him painkillers, told him to rest and then see his GP. He doesn't do any form of painkillers so the ones he took sat morning knocked him out for 15hrs... fanstastic lol

pamelat i feel the same, single figures as of tommorrow, i'm getting quite excited and will be pricing everything we need and plenty of crap stuff we may need tommorrow

angel seriously about the nesting, hoping mine will kick when we move in 12 days!!! DP also confessed last night that he was glad we got the apartment as he thinks my cleaning my not be up to standard and i'll struggle with cleaning a house and looking after a baby wondering if i can find that long hoover attachment and stick it where the sun don't shine

ML wish i could have a sleep like that, you must have really needed it

Had a lovely evening last night with DP, home from work at 7pm and he'd was in the kitchen making me a cuppa and gave me a foot rub (he's feeling guilty about Friday night bless!), in bed for 8.30 watching Face/Off cuddled up eating lemon meringue pie... absolute bliss

Off to price fridge/freezers for the move, how bloody exciting is my life!!

xxxxx

pigleychez · 01/03/2010 09:52

ML- at that amount of sleep!

Den- Hope your DH suffered after Sat night!

Angel- Major nesting!

Hollyoaks- We say Avatar yesterday too. The inlaws had DD ( who was an angel!). Felt very odd going out with DD but was a nice break. Sadly our cinema doesnt have the comfy seats so i just had to shuffle for 3 hours!

TCH/Brightred- DD is teething too. No Molars here yet though, We are only on tooth number 6 at 19mths! She didnt get her first till 13mths.

DD has her swimming lesson again today so will be squezing myself into my costume again. Looking more a more hideous every week! Also noticed its become much harder and akward to defuzz!!
Had tears on fri night as discovered my tummy is becoming covered in stretch marks I got a few below my tummy button in the last few weeks with DD but this time they are sneaking up higher
Oh the joys!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 01/03/2010 09:58

Carikube - thanks for the tip about not hoovering! I always get DH to do it these days anyway because it always makes me exhausted. Also, I hate our hoover (annoying small Dyson thing which always makes me bend over more than I should) and he loves it so I like to make him do it in the hope that he'll feel my pain one day.

Pamelat - sounds like a lovely weekend

BRB - I've not heard of anaesbol, is that a prescription thing? We give her the teething powders which she likes and Calpol when she needs it but it doesn't seem to help hugely. She has all 4 of them coming through at once so I think it must be pretty sore. She keeps rubbing the back of her mouth as well so I'm not sure if the second lot of molars are coming through as well. She always teethes in huge batches - she got her first 4 at the same time and then the next 8 at the same time.

Angel - sounds like you've been very busy! I keep meaning to get newborn stuff down from the attic and sorted but never get round to it. I don't think I'd fit through the attic opening anyway

Newmomma - sorry to hear you're feeling guilty, I think it's completely normal. I veer between thinking I'm failing DD and thinking I'm failing DC2. Hope your day improves and you feel better

Hollyoaks - Joshua William is a beautiful name How was Avatar? DH is desperate to see it.

Hobnobfanatic · 01/03/2010 10:05

A quickie to those with anterior placentas - I had a sudden revelation that we're likely to have a back-to-back labour, aren't we? If, as my mw says, babies generally face their placenta, then the baby will come out facing the wrong way.

I'm panicking abotu this big time - so please tell me I'm wrong!

Will catch up properly later - have to dash out now. Just wanted to post this to give you a chance to respond asap!

Hollyoaks · 01/03/2010 10:06

Pigley - that must have been uncomfortable. It was strange leaving dd, though we've had about 4 nights out since she was born it always feels like somethings missing. We never get drunk or have late nights but we're grateful for the break and the sleep, oh and the lie in. Though the little monkey slept till 9am at sil's.

20thC - we think its beautiful too, I think its a lovely name for a baby but turns into a nice grown-up name too. dh still prefers William though so it could change before lo arrives. Or if its a girl .

Newmomma & 20thC - meant to say I feel the same about dd and do go between over compensating with her and forgetting lo most of the time and I worry how I can possible love this lo as much as I love her. Also dreading the worry and stress I'll be under with two

newmomma · 01/03/2010 10:22

Hobnob I've got an anterior placenta too - hadn't thought about the whole back to back issue!

My LO is currently head up. Not sure which way round though so breach and back-to-back isn't good. But chin up girlies - we've still got several weeks before we need to worry about the positions of the baby. She says hopefully...

squirtsmum am very at your lovely evening - DH and I currently just seem to argue and sleep in separate beds! Mainly my hormones I suspect. Glad he's on the mend too.

pigleychez sorry to hear about your stretch marks. My sister swears that Bio-Oil is good for 'lessening them'. But you have to keep applying it every day for a while.

Hollyoaks LOVE both your names - especially Grace. And my brothers name is William so also have a massive soft spot for that one too.

I should have gone back to bed this morning whilst LO is asleep. But it seems so wrong to be in bed on a lovely day like today. So instead I'm sat on MN...?!?

pigleychez · 01/03/2010 10:30

Hollyoaks- Yeah I was abit of a fidget!
We too have only left DD about 5 times and I kept checking my mobile which id left on silent.
DD is loving the 3d Glasses though... so far most of the soft toys have taken turns of wearing them!

Please dont read if feeling emotional*
Heard some sad news yesterday which has made me apprieciate this pregnancy more stop whiging so much. A Family friends DD was expecting her second abit after us. On friday she lost the baby at 23 weeks. She had to have c-section to deliver the baby. Seems it was 5 weeks undeveloped and had hardly any fluid. So sad for them.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 01/03/2010 10:54

Hobnob I have an anterior placenta too, but don't know if that means back-to-back is more likely than those who have posterior. My yoga and NCT teachers have both given the classes loads of tips to encourage the baby into the right position, and they didn't differentiate between people with posterior / anterior placentas.

Apparently the best thing to do is try and sit leaning slightly forwards, or with hips higher than knees as much as possible. Sitting on one of those big inflatable ball things is meant to be really good, and so is kneeling on hands and knees or kneeling leaning over a coffee table or beanbag or something when watching tv. They said the worst thing to do is to sit leaning back on the sofa with your feet up (something I am usually guilty of, so trying not to do now!).
There is quite a good description here.
