Due May 2010: Into the third trimester we go, can the bumps get any bigger?

So here's the continuation of the thread previously known as Due May 2010: Where we get a 'bloom' just in time for the christmas mayhem???
Let's see if this one lasts up until the first birth... Knowing how chatty we can be, I doubt it!

so sorry for your friend pigleychez

hope things start to get better for your friends family really really soon.

Good morning!

Had a very busy and yucky weekend! DD felt very ill whilst I was in the shower on Saturday morning and came to find me (i'd left her in the lounge watching Cinderella), depositing lovely piles of sick throughout the house on the way - why do these things always happen when DH is working? Bless her - she still isn't well today! Daddy's turn to stay off work and look after her!

Hollyoaks love your names! We are still stuck on Oliver/Ollie as we really can't agree on any others! I find names really difficult to choose being a teacher!

Newmomma we opted for the Quinny Buzz and bought it about a month ago. We bought the lascal buggy board to go on it (i did some research on the lascal website) but now I am really worried it won't fit on! Did you use yours with a buggy board?

When I last went to the midwife, he told me that the baby was breech. Will the baby stay breech from now on or will he move? It doesn't make any difference really as I have opted for another section but was just curious!

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 01/03/2010 11:04

X-post Pigley - really for your friend.

memorylapse · 01/03/2010 11:04

Pigley..thats so sad..your poor friend..I lost a baby premuturely at 23 weeks..I wouldnt wish it on anyone (one of the reasons why Im so paranoid this preg)

Hobnob..no dont panic about back to back labour..I had an anterior placenta with DD2 and in fact she was my easiest labour!

my hairdresser friend who is 39 weeks pregnant.had ECV last week to turn her breech baby..and it worked..she said it was very uncomfortable though but she was desperate to avoid a C Section.

I am officially having a baby next month!!!!..I cant beleive it.
strangely..mums up at the school have only just twigged that Im pregnant..did they think I had a beach ball up my top?

DD looked so cute this morning in her welsh lady costume..although she was whinging that it was itchy..she hates anything with lace on... off to meet one of my regular corporate clients in a min..Its A De Vere Hotel and Ive had to address a few issues that have arisen so we are having a lunch meeting..feel a bit nervous

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 01/03/2010 11:18

Pigley - sympathies with the stretch marks. I noticed this morning that one of the ones under my bump is really sore and red.

That's so sad about your friend I hope she's OK, what a horrible thing to go through.

Hollyoaks - I know what you mean about worrying how to cope with 2. Sometimes I think I'll be fine and other times I'm not sure how I cope with one.

30ish - hope your DD's OK.

ML - impressed that mums at the school have only just noticed!

newmomma · 01/03/2010 11:45

30ish i used my quinny just for ds1 as he was an only child (still is until may!)

but we decided we'd need a double with only 16 months between the two.

there are some websites around that will tell you what buggy board fits on to which pushchairs... not sure what they are exactly but i'm sure if you google them you'll find them...?

newmomma · 01/03/2010 11:48

ooh i found it...

which buggy board with which pushchair

did you see this - its from the same website you got your buggy board from?

Hollyoaks · 01/03/2010 12:43

Newmomma - that link was very useful, thanks

Pigley - so sorry for your friends baby, its tragic for the whole family. Hope they all come through it as a family and she goes on to have another lo.

30ish - love Ollie, and appreciate the problem with names when your a teacher. The problem is dh doesnt know why I can't ignore that the horror in set z has the name that he wanted. Plus, my lo is breech at the moment as I get lots of kicks v v low down, but I'm sure its got plenty of time to turn. Don't fancy an ECV.

SquirtsMum · 01/03/2010 13:04

Pigley so sorry to hear about your friend

ML at the other mums just noticing, i've been asked everyday since dec 'when is LO due, must be soon now' and get a when i say May!!!

30ish hope DD is feeling better soon

xxxx

30ish · 01/03/2010 13:28

Newmomma thanks - I did look at this website before I bought the buggy board but suddenly started to worry that it wouldn't fit!

Squirtsmum I getthe same reaction! Sick of people telling me how HUGE they think I am!

Hollyoaks · 01/03/2010 13:37

Oh and 20thC, Avatar was amazing. dh wasn't that impressed with the story but loved the special effects. I thought the film was great, a good love story with lots of action too.

myfirstbump · 01/03/2010 13:51

Hi all, look at how much has been happening while I haven't been looking! Glad everyone's getting on ok. It seems to be a decision making time all round!

Pigley - for your friend. Hope everyone's bearing up ok in the circumstances.

Had my 28 week apt on Saturday - am officially on the home run!! MW was a bit worried as the baby hadn't been moving much for a few days and suggested I go to the hospital for a trace if I hadn't felt anything within the next couple of hours. Baby obviously didn't like the sound of that much, as it totally woke up and started dancing on my kidneys! So I've happily been taking kicks to the ribs and everywhere else since!

Anyone had any experience of antenatal classes in Shropshire? A long shot, yes, but I don't know what to do about them. Will prob be NHS ones as we can't really afford to do the NCT or other private ones.

Which ones should we do, and which can we live without?

memorylapse · 01/03/2010 14:19

TCH and Squirtsmum..the thing that makes me chuckle is that my bump is huge!!!!..but I guess due to the cold weather..Id been well under wraps with a big thick coat on so folk must have thought Id eaten too much xmas turkey

had my first.."when are you due" last week..although there is no mistaking it now..especially as I waddle!

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 01/03/2010 14:29

weird, I posted this morning but it hasnt appeared.

TCH anaesbol you can get from the pharmacy, first got it when DD kept retching when I put calgel/bongela etc on her gums and it worked well for her and also for DS. I tend to only give them calpol for a temperature.

lizzie9442 · 01/03/2010 16:29

Hi everyone, sorry I don't post that much but I am always reading what your all up to.

pigley - so sorry about your friend, must be horrible getting to that stage to have it all go wrong.

memorylapse - glad everything is ok with your baby now, must be worrying when the baby doesn't move. I am 31 weeks today and the baby seems to move constantly. Does anyone know if a baby can move to much? I seem to be getting constant prods in my ribs. They feel really bruised now and find I have to lean back alot to try and make them feel better.

I still haven't managed to change ds1 schools to by our new house where we moved in december. He is top of the waiting list so hoping not to much longer. I am spending so long driving back and fourth every day and worked out about 3 hours of my day is speant in the car doing the school run.

I have a scan next tuesday when I will be 32 weeks to see if the placenta has moved and to see chances of having to have a cs, fingers crossed that it has moved. I have never had a scan this late on but imagine I won't be able to see much of the baby.

I have been getting alot of braxton hicks at the moment and last night they got very uncomfortable and kept me awake most of the night.

Had some really sad news today that my grandad has died, Still feel shocked by it and it was quite sudden. He lived to 86 bless him. I imagine the funeral will be next week so have to travel about 150 miles for that.

Hope everyone else is ok xxxx

scrannage · 01/03/2010 16:30

Hi lovely ladies

Newby to the forum - and thought I'd join my group. I'm due on May 17th - so only 11 weeks until due date.

So far I'm having a great pregnancy - which from what I've read means likely to give birth to the devil.

The bump (project name Ziggy) has actually just moved position and is now spread across my belly and from a certain angle it looks like a sausage dog door stopper. Since getting himself in this weird position he's found he can kick a lot harder and more often. Bye bye sleep!!!

Anyway - really wanted some advice. We are trying to sell our house - but not received any worthy offers yet. The problem is I'm now getting panicked because we haven't bought anything for the baby (were going to wait until we got to new house) and my husband still wants to hold off for a few more months (he thinks we can race round mothercare in an afternoon and pick everything up). Do you think we can get away with this? Or should I put my foot down and demand we frorget about selling the house and focus on making this one more habitable for a baby?!?!?

Thanks
xxxxxxx

Den26 · 01/03/2010 16:35

Pigley - so sorry to hear about your friend, thats terrible

30ish - hope your DD feeling better soon

Re names - we are thinking of Rian Alexander...Have no ideas about girls names so hoping sonographer was right about LO being a boy!!

of all of you reaching 30 weeks! Why does time seem to stand still? I have no patience

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 01/03/2010 17:26

Scrannage - welcome! Feel free to add yourself to the list of due dates - latest version is a few posts up from your first post. There are some others on here going through house moves at the moment, so I'm sure they'll be able to offer better guidance than me on how much to prepare now.

From the bits and pieces of shopping that I have done so far, it seems that some items you can easily just pop out and get there and then, whereas others need to be ordered a few weeks in advance (my pushchair and furniture are taking a little while - 6 weeks or so). It depends where you get things from though. If you're impatient like me and can't wait to get started on the shopping, you could always persuade your husband to go looking at stuff now, and pre-order it with a delivery date for the end of April, then you can always change the delivery address if (when!) you find your dream house!

Lizzie - so sorry to hear about your grandad . Hope you get the school situation sorted out soon, sounds like you need a break from all that driving.

Seem to have ended up with a hectic week coming up. Have got things planned after work for every evening! Out for dinner with friends after work tonight, personal trainer tomorrow night, NCT wednesday night and yoga Thursday. Hopefully Friday will be quiet though, as then have DH's parents turning up Saturday lunchtime and staying for 4 nights! Thankfully they're lovely and no trouble to have staying at all.

Den26 · 01/03/2010 17:39

Lizzie - so sorry to hear about your grandad, i lost mine in january, so sad. Hope you take care of yourself and LO ...

Welcome scrannage! you could do some shopping now and see if the shop would hold it for you??

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 01/03/2010 17:49

ML - I think my bump's been hidden under my winter coat as well, I just look massive rather than pregnant. Oh well, hopefully it will be warm enough to take it off soon.

BRB - thanks, I'll keep an eye out for that. DD won't let me put teething gel on her normally, she just clams her mouth shut. She does like brushing her teeth though. She normally has a bit of a temperature when she's teething so Calpol helps with that.

Lizzie9442 - so sorry about your grandad I hope you're OK. Good luck getting the school situation sorted out, all that driving doesn't sound helpful at all.

Scrannage - welcome to the thread I reckon if you haven't had any proper offers yet then you should start thinking about getting stuff ready for the baby. I get really stressed leaving stuff till the last minute but if you're more laidback then it's probably not a problem! MDM's right, some baby things can take a while to sort out and other things can be picked up very easily. You can always rearrange delivery or get baby stuff moved with the rest of your things. How far are you moving?

MDM - Sounds like a very busy week! Hope you have fun and don't get too exhausted.

scrannage · 01/03/2010 18:11

Thanks ladies

I have decided to make an appointment at John Lewis to make a list - and find out with my pushchair how long it takes. Hadn't factored in 6 weeks. At least then I can get a definite from them about when stuff will be delivered.

Can anyone advise whether you are going to put baby straight into a cot - or whether you will use a moses basket to begin with?

Lizzie - sorry to hear about your grandad - such a sad occassion especially as it came as a shock. I hope the funeral isn't too bad. From my experience - you should try to focus on the good memories and remember that he wouldn't want you to be upset.

Pigley - sorry about your friend. That is awful. Please pass on everyone's thoughts and sympathy.

Oh - and one other thing - maybe I've missed the discussion (will do a search) but do we have any preference re. NHS or NCT classes?

xxxxx

Hobnobfanatic · 01/03/2010 18:27

Lizzie and Den - so sorry; what terrible news. Hope you're both okay.

Welcome Scrannage. Like you, DP and I are trying to move, but we have two houses to sell as we don't currently live together. But I'm resigned to the fact that even if we had an offer accepted tomorrow, we'd never move before LO appears, so I'm spending every weekend, shifting rooms round to make room for baby and all her stuff.

As for NCT or NHS - the latter offer three classes at 2-4pm! No good to me, with an older child and a school pick-up at 3pm. No good to my partner, who would have to take three half-days of holiday, which I don't want him to do, as he doesn't get any paternity leave so needs every days' holiday possible to help me post-birth (I also don't get maternity leave, being self-employed!). I heard that some Sure Start centres offer classes; mine might in the future, but not yet... I'm so loath to go to the NCT ones, though, as my nearest is miles away and they are soooo long and intensive and expensive! I just need a refresher and a quick taster for first-timer DP = who is getting all his education from OBEM prog!

Glad everyone else is okay - and I'm please to hear about your positive anterior placenta story, ML. Had baby turned by the birth, or was she back to back?

memorylapse · 01/03/2010 19:28

hobnob..DD was in the perfect position for birth and was born in just 4 pushes

the anterior placenta was a bind though as I never felt really strong movements
