Due May 2010: Into the third trimester we go, can the bumps get any bigger?

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 02/02/2010 14:19

So here's the continuation of the thread previously known as Due May 2010: Where we get a 'bloom' just in time for the christmas mayhem???
Let's see if this one lasts up until the first birth... Knowing how chatty we can be, I doubt it!

luckyc- wishing you a speedy recovery, so you can have a lovely time in bruges.

im in the middle of clearing under the satirs...ive been stashing toys that Ds is getting to big for under there and have been bagging them up as there is a charity collection on thurs, although didnt realise there were so many.
also getting rid of all the paperwork thats under there that i keep meaning to burn, so have bagged it all and will sort through it all tonight, ensuring i dont burn my birth cert! and then burn it all on thurs afternoon when Ds is at nursery. hopefully when its all clear i can get all the toys under there and thats where they can live again. heres hoping!

still no word from Los dad, will give him till friday to call and then call him and gove him a reminder that i only have 11 weeks to go and that the baby will need a pram!

im very envious of all those decorating nurseries...Lo will be in with me and then we will move when she is a bit older and i will put her in a room of her own, although Ds wanted me to put the cot up in his room...think that will change when he realises that babies cry alot.

have been to a pregnany group this morning and had a lovely massage, which made me want to rest up this afternoon but am making the most of having free time to sort out, but hopefully i will sleep better tonight after having it. therapies lady is also willing to do reflexlolgy to turn baby if necessary and also accupuncture to try and enduce labour, so very useful to know if im very past due date. we also did some relaxation techniques.

anyway hope all are well
back to the sorting and clearing!

SquirtsMum · 23/02/2010 15:47

TwentiethCenturyHeffa yep i'm a World of Warcraft player have been for 4 yrs now, its actually how DP and i met lol!! I have 2 accounts, one is mine and the other is DP's nephew - but as he hadn't played in 3 months or so i cancelled it but with the whole account merge/Battle.net gubbins i cancelled mine instead ... i blame the pregnancy
What race/class are you? I made the mistake of lvling a dorf pally as holy from the beginning and now i couldn't DPS or tank with her if i tryed

Btw i'm orginally from Torbay but moved to Belfast to be with DP after we found out we were expecting

30wks today... time is going too quickly!!! Bump doesn't seem to be getting bigger and Squirt's movements are no longer gentle or rippling - they fecking hurt! Think my skin can no longer stretch any further and Squirt may just burst out of me a la Alien

Warning: Mini rant about generally feeling like poo (some of them are just random but they add to the general feeling).....
Still getting cramp, losing my lovely expensive tweezers and realising i now rival Dennis Healy , now have 2 fingers that keep locking into place at work, am pretty much celulite (sp?) from the waist middle down, needing a hair cut but never seeming to have the time to get one, sleeping no more than 4hrs a night, pins and needles constantly, waking up when i do sleep and bursting into tears, not getting the lovely house we were going for, having to wait till friday to hear whether we have the apartment we like, having to live with DP's mum till we get somewhere (she's lovely, she's just...well... not my mum IYKWIM), feeling like Morgan Freeman is narrating my day a la March of the Penguins... oh and to top it all off we had snow on sunday and i managed to fall over in it on my way to work, landed on my right knee so thats lovely and bruised and my thigh is killing still

Anyway - hope the rest of you are well and pregnancy hasn't turned us all in to blubbering, wailing harpies (as my DP jokingly called me.... he slept in the spare room that night)
xxxx

memorylapse · 23/02/2010 16:15

luckyc..hope you are feeling better soon..

Squirtsmum...ouch that must have hurt..Im fed up of this stupid weather..its chuffin snowing again here..grr

my anti biotics are making me feel poo...I feel really run down and crap...full of cold..dizzy, shivery..spent all of last night awake..and am slumming it in my dressing gown today.

30 weeks today and my bump feels like its right up under my ribcage..baby feels like she is trying to headbutt her way out sometimes..as I type Ive got one hand on the top of my bump to try and stop a body part from bouncing into my stomach.

Ive been so worried about buying baby stuff as tbh..I still wont beleive it all until she is in my arms. But today I gave in and ordered a few more bits...a winning the poo boucing chair from Babies r us..reduced to £14.99...some new born bibs and a changing bag and mat....blimey I really pushed the boat out!!! life on the edge eh??!!

I also got a fisher price rainforest melodies activity mat from ebay second hand for just £12..I picked it up locally and they usually sell new for £54..the seller was lovely and had even put new batteries in it..it looks like new.

sweetkitty · 23/02/2010 17:32

I have been quite energetic today, cleared out a drawer for the baby so he now has a drawer to himself poor wee thing other babies have nurseries he has a drawer! So far the drawer consists of some socks, sleepsuits, vests, a hooded towel and a blanket oh and a toy lion! Also went through the others 3 drawers and cleared out a load of stuff. Very strange putting DD3s clothes in the charity bag, I have always kept everything in a decent condition.

We already have a bath seat, bouncy chair, swing, moses basket, car seat, play gym, travel cot, bedside cot, trying to think of what else we will need, think a list is called for.

ML - happy 30 weeks seems like a big milestone, I reach it tomorrow. Well done on your ebay bargains too.

Squirtsmum - sounds about right for being pregnant have a good old rant makes you feel better, sorry to hear about your knee as well ouch. I so need a haircut as well, did the eyebrows the other day but looked in the mirror and someone else's thighs were looking back at me, I seem to have spread sidewards from the waist down.

itshappenedagain - don't worry DS doesn't have a nursery either, we are seriously cramped in this house.

heffa - thanks I should know what this feels like by now shouldn't I? You are very brave putting DD into a bed, DD3 won't be going until 2 1/2 at least once all the work is finished on the house (better make that 4 lol)

brightred - I agree most of the 5+2 cars are the same, was peering in a Zafira today and no space in the back at all. I used to drive a Clio then we got the CMAX so that was a pretty big difference. SMAX is very nice but v pricey. Do you need a true 7 seater or one that will take 3 across the back. I have heard good things about the Citreon Picasso? This baby will be here before we get it sorted out I am sure. Did I tell you they are now doing 20 week scans at Wishaw and telling the sex? How am I, I missed one by weeks.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 23/02/2010 19:27

LuckyC - sounds like you've been having a rough time, hope things get better in time for your weekend in beautiful Bruges! Are you planning on checking out the chocolate museum while you're there?

Ithappenedagain - sounds like you've had a very blissful morning and productive afternoon! I've been working from home this afternoon as had first NCT class this morning, but I don't think I've been particularly productive, as I keep stopping to try out the various pelvic floor exercises she suggested, and the exercises to get the baby into a good position!

Squirtsmum - Sorry, I couldn't help but laugh at the Dennis Healy reference. Please don't apologise for having a moan/rant, that's what we're here for! You'll either find someone who has the same things as you, so you're not alone, or you'll make someone else feel like they're not suffering alone, or you'll make some lucky person feel glad that they're not suffering from the same thing, so everyone wins! By the way, I LOVE the story about how you and your DP met ! Were you incredibly nervous the first time you actually met face to face? I very boringly met DH at uni - we got together at a drunken boat-club dinner. In fact we'll be celebrating 14 years together next week .

ML sounds like you've managed to get some fantastic bargains! So satisfying when that happens!

SK - your comment about clearing out a drawer for your LO made me laugh, as it made me think of a bit I read yesterday in a Rough Guide book about travelling with children. It suggested that, if you want to travel light and not take a travel cot, you can put a folded up sheet in an open drawer and put the baby to sleep in there! I know that's not what you meant, but it still made me smile!

DH is travelling for work tonight, so I get a lovely evening to myself, and as I've been working at home today, I can have a nice early dinner now instead of having to wait until 8.30/9, and I can watch what I want on TV all evening!

OP posts:
pamelat · 23/02/2010 19:51

30ish my DH not interested in sex at all. He hasnt been since about Christmas He says its disgusting as he (also irrationally) says its too close to the babys head, and feels like he would be having sex to his sons head!! I can kind of understand what he means but obviously its a bit weird

Initially I didnt mind as I was so tired it was almost a relief but now I do feel the lack of intimacy between us.

I was ok post natally last time, within 2 weeks or so but I think I had a lucky birth (would not have said that at the time ).

Lucky you with back massages etc. I feel we dont have intimacy at all at the moment. Its more a competition to see which of us is more tired . Me, me, me!!

memorylapse · 23/02/2010 20:04

Sex??? whats that??..oh ok..I think I vaguely remember

sadly its not happened for us as obviously the first 4 months I had horrific sickness and was put on pelvic rest due to the bleeding..then due to further bleeding was advised not to...
poor DH..he would still cheerfully have sex with me even though I look like a whale..he thinks I look lovely..should have gone to specsavers

I have..ahem,.helped him out..and we still cuddle lots...with me its been a case of the mind is willing but the body is too clapped out to bother!

after dd2, normal service was resumed after 2 weeks but its because I had such an easy birth..

sweetkitty · 23/02/2010 20:04

Marquise - ah I see what you mean lol hey he could go in a drawer though he hasn't got a bed yet although if anything like his sister he will be in with us. DP and I will have been together 15 years next month we are not ones to rush into marriage though lol

pamelat - glad it's not just us then, I have never been one of these rampant pregnant women just as well really

pigleychez · 23/02/2010 20:18

Heffa-Glad DD like her new room and bed. Did she stay in bed or keep getting out? Strangely DD never gets out of her bed during the night and even in the morning even though she def knows how to!

Lucky- Hope you feel better soon. Sounds awful Hope your being taken care of!

Happenagain- Your massage sounds lovely! Looking forward to my spa weekend even more now.

Squirtsmum- I know what you mean about the movements. When this one moves it bloody hurts! It stretches out too and its feet stick right out the top, really feeling like they are going to break through the skin!

Also with you on the general rants..
Manky hair- My hairdresser sister is sorting that on thursday- Yippee!
Pins and needles but oddly just in my fingertips.
Cellulite- One of the mother to be treatments they do at my spa weekend claims to prevent cellulite and stretch marks..Mmmm...Bit past that i think!

Hope the knee/thigh is better soon.

Memory- on the bargins!

SK- Yay for DS's drawer

MDM- How was your first NCT class?

Lady at toddler group bought her 2week old DD in this morning (2nd baby). Soo cute and small.
Seems she had an expected homebirth! Hospital told her to come in when contractions were 5 minutes apart. Hers were 10 minutes for ages then suddenly went to every 2 mintues then baby appeared so gave birth at home on the bed!
DD's had a big beaming face when seeing the new baby which is a good sign

Had a nice little splash in the bath with DD tonight, so im now laid out on the sofa in my PJ's and dressing gown waiting for that channel 4 programme again tonight.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 23/02/2010 22:02

LuckyC - hope you're feeling a bit better

Squirtsmum - hehe, DH and I play together as well He got me hooked after we got married and have been addicted ever since (although we don't play as much when I'm pregnant because I'm too tired and can't get comfortable enough to play). My main is a Tauren resto druid - I made the same mistake as you and levelled her as resto and now I couldn't play anything else (never even tried feral in 3 years ). We're currently levelling some Alliance alts ready for the expansion though, although whether we'll get to play with 2 little ones I'm not sure . The Battlenet thing is very confusing. Good to know there's someone else from Devon here as well! I grew up outside Exeter. Amazing that you met your DP ingame! I've heard of it happening but not met anyone (although we've met a lot of other WoW couples ingame).

SK - sounds like you've been busy! We didn't want to buy another cot but DD's been climbing out of hers anyway so we would have had to move her I think. Feels quite weird seeing the empty cot though.

Pigley - so far she's stayed in the bed. She napped in it earlier and then just woke up, came downstairs and demanded lunch. We'll see how tonight goes. She looks so grown-up and so small in it though, very cute

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 23/02/2010 23:00

Pigley - first NCT class was good thanks! Was just the girls today, 6 of us, and the men will join us for the next session. Teacher seems really nice, not preachy. Lots of stuff today about pelvic floor exercises and encouraging the baby into a good position. The girls seem like a good bunch too.

OP posts:
Sweetpeasmum · 23/02/2010 23:04

pigley & heffa - DS has not quite got the hang of his bed yet, the first week was good then he started coming through as soon as he woke up in the night. Some nights he sleeps in the bed and on other nights he asks to go in the cot. He's a bit under the weather at the mo and I think he finds some security in the cot.

Pamelat - I'm glad my DH isn't the only one who doesn't want to commune with his baby. I thought he was just being weird!

Hobnobfanatic · 23/02/2010 23:06

I really MUST stop watching One Born Every Minute! I cried and cried and then went ballistic when that horrible husband was being a complete bully and S*t to his poor partner. The policeman in episode 1 was a twunt - but not malicious. OOooh, my blood pressure is raised, for sure.

And when it took an age for the baby to breathe... and the baby in the incubator - I'm just too emotional to watch this programme! I must ban it next week!

Squirtsmum - I think I may qualify for the wailing harpy award, toO!

TomlinTowers · 23/02/2010 23:08

Hi all

Lovely to catch up on all your news. It sounds like everyone is getting ready for the new arrivals! Our decorator is coming on Tuesday to re-do the nursery, it is already beige from DS1, but will be done beige again but with a different border for this LO as daren't do it all in pink in case it turns out a boy!

Heffa - we moved DS into a bed when I went in one night and found him spreadeagled across the corner top of the cot trying to climb out . He actually sleeps much better in his bed - I think it's to do with the fact that he could get out if he wanted to - although he actually doesn't.

I have read everyone else's posts, and had loads of points to make, but I've forgotten them all! Needless to say hope all is well, and for those having a tough time, I hope it all gets better soon. Happenedagain - your massage sounds amazing, I'll have to get one booked in for when I finish work!

Two new things here - had my 28wk appt with MW yesterday. I am 28.5 weeks, but bump measuring 30 weeks. MW didn't seem that concerned - does anyone know if that is something worry about? DS1 was always spot on for dates. I can't decide if it means LO will arrive early, or otherwise be massive baby, or it is just fat from all the extra chocolate I've been eating! Also found out that baby was transverse but I think she is moving around loads still - getting loads of kicks just above my pelvis tonight. She is a real wriggler! MW said it would only be a problem if she isn't engaged at 36 weeks.

Also - we might be moving house in August - eek! Long story but essentially friends of my parents are downsizing and have offered us first refusal on their house. They want out by August - I am having kittens at the thought of selling our place, moving house, getting a mortgage, and all related hassles - all with a three month old. Am I mad??!!

Also quite jealous of all people starting AN/NCT classes - I feel like I could do with a refresher, especially about all the stuff to do when you actually go to hospital, like where to park, how to get the permit etc. Hope it all comes flooding back to me when it all happens!!

SquirtsMum · 24/02/2010 00:28

MDM I was not the slightest bit nervous meeting him, we'd known each other for about 18 months through the game He confessed he had a soft spot for me a but me being in a relationship at the time he was happy just to stay friends. Needless to say the relationship didn't last and he became a sounding board for my thoughts... nxt thing i know i'm flying over to Belfast to meet him and tbh i saw him outside the airport looking terrified manly and knew he was the one for me

TwentiethCenturyHeffa Some ppl think its sweet that we met ingame, other's think we're complete nut-jobs... tbh i think i'm a nut-job most of the time too I tend to play on my laptop so its easier to get comfy and play (usually in bed), i'm looking forward to mat leave as i'll be lvling a hunter ready for Cataclysm and farming ICC for some more shinies on pally getting ready for Squirts arrival ofc I believe we're expecting the guilds first baby and the our online friends are placing bets on the guild forum about what race/class we roll lol

SquirtsMum · 24/02/2010 00:34

Fecking typos.....

lvling a hunter ready for Cataclysm and farming ICC for some more shinies on pally

was hoping

need sleep....zzzzzzz snoozeville awaits

brightredballoon · 24/02/2010 09:11

SK I knew they were giving 20wk scans but they are telling the sex too. So rotten you missed it by weeks.
Yes you are right, we just need 3 proper seats across the back. Looked at the Grand Picasso because having the extra two seats in the boot would be very handy on occasions but we cant justify the extra cost of the car for the two seats so probably will get a Picasso C4. Have been totally gobsmacked at the prices of the cars, Macchargs wanted £21k for an sMax!! I would imagine fancy sporty cars cost that not a family bus!!

All this talk of intimacy etc, DH doesnt seem that bothered by my excuses! He is a very loving man and perhaps as this is our 3rd child he knows how tired I am and how awkward I find it with a huge out the front bump. However he assures me our kisses and cuddles keep him happy enough and usually we resume normal habits a few weeks after birth.

Off to the shops to hopefully get some baby bits, however will have to hope the roads are clear as we have about 2 inches of snow yes can you believe it? Its the end of Feb and still getting snow, I just really hope it has gone by end of April!!

Hope you are all ok, sorry for not being more personal in replies, I just have such limited time toread and reply but I am thinking of you all.

itshappenedagain · 24/02/2010 11:56

mornig all...just!

slept fantastically last night...must have been a combination of massage and the fact i felt much better knowing that under the stairs was all sorted out and i now have my lounge free of toys again...well at least when Ds is in bed or at school.

been to baby connect class this morning, and was the only pregant one there, but is on for 16 weeks plus there are school hols inbetween so should see me through till after baby is born, mainly consists of recording feelings about pregnancies and child development milestones etc, but gives me something else to focus on.

anyway im off again now, time to take Ds to school and go down to uni for some info on postgraduate info...plus may have a chance to get some more bits that i need!

cupcakefairy · 24/02/2010 12:00

Hi girls, quick hello...
loving all the intimacy talk I had a slight phase of wanting to ravish dh which he thought was great! But now I'm off it all again...he would happily try every night though; last night I got into bed and said 'shall we read?' (which we usually do for a bit before sleeping) and he replied 'I was thinking of other recreational activities' (he didn't get his way sadly! My book was much more interesting!) but I'm glad he hasn't been put off by baby.

pigley yes that sounds like acid reflux to me- I have that horrible burning/sicky feeling in throat. Get gaviscon

rachel I have terrible mouth ulcers too they are so nasty aren't they! You have my sympathy. I recommend Corsodyl mouthwash. Tastes grim but does work!

squirt I met my dh online too! on the website of a band we both love..we met face to face at one of their gigs & I also knew straight away I would marry him

Carikube · 24/02/2010 12:37

Tomlin I was measuring 2 weeks ahead of due dates with dd so had convinced myself I was having a big baby; she turned up almost bang on time (3 days early) and exactly average for weight (7lbs 10oz) so there was no need to get concerned.

I finally have a MW appt tomorrow - my first one for three months! Hopefully everything will be ok; she'll be taking blood ready for my anti-D injection in a couple of weeks. I also have my last antenatal refresher class this evening. I can't believe they're finishing already.

Anyone else going through a bout of anxiety? I don't recall getting this nervous with dd but I seem to be getting more worked up this time round, probably worrying about how I'm going to cope with 2 so close together. I don't really know what to do to get over it - I know it's too late to change my mind (!) and I'm sure everything will be fine but I can't help getting worked up about it

Gils · 24/02/2010 13:30

Afternoon all

"cupcakefairy" Oh glad I wasn't the only one, DH also loved it although feeling very unattractive and uncomfortable now. DH would still happily do it every night, unfortunately (wink) the baby always seems to be active when he wants it. No way then!

"SK & Itshappenedagain" Our wee one will also not have own room. We only have 2 bed so baby will be in with us until I am confident he/she won't wake DD. Once back at work will need to seriously think about moving house.

"LuckyC" Enjoy Bruges!! I am away on 15th and really looking forward to it. Although my family aren't the most relaxing to holiday with I am hoping DH DD and I can escape for a while.

I also need haircut/ waxing etc but never seem to have time. Been getting quite bad cramps in my legs too and was going to have bath. Never have time when DH is away and when he is home just want to cuddle up on couch.

Went to wedding show on Saturday, only good thing was a few free samples of cake. No date has been set, not 100% sure what they want so seemed pointless. Place was so busy. They are having a baby show there couple weeks before due date, reconsidering if I want to go now.

Did come home to DH cooking dinner and lovely bunch of flowers.

Had terrible day on Sunday. Had so much back and lower tummy pain I was sick and thought I was going into early labour. Now in panic so making DH get up loft to get newborn stuff down. Made first baby purchase on Sunday, packet of nappies and vests from tesco. Really like them, button down front like a sleepsuit instead of at nappy so no pulling over head.

Must go lunch over

memorylapse · 24/02/2010 13:42

Tomlin...dont worry about fundal height..my bump is today measuring 35 weeks..its been about 5 weeks ahead for a long time

Im loving all your stories about how you met your DH'S/DP'S....

I met my DH when I moved in next door to him

pigleychez · 24/02/2010 14:00

MDM- Glad you had a good first class

Hobnob- I too cant believe some mens attitudes towards labour! I wish they could try it! I keep telling DH tht it should be his turn this time but hes not having it
Makes me apprieciate how supportive he is during labour.

Tomlin- Dont worry about the meaurements. Its def not an exact science with that tape measure. Think they usually give 2cm either side of your amount of weeks. My MW has never measured me yet. Only once had it when at the consultants appointment at 25 weeks and it was exactly that.. 25cm.

Our hospital offers tours without having to go to any classes. Might be worth finding out if yours does the same. In my pink notes theres a number to book tours on.

Feeling abit pissed off right now actually. Drunk my lucozade for the GTT at 6am (yuck) and had the test but since realised I picked up the wrong bottle. I drank the Orange variety as opposed to the orginal. Just checked the nutrional info on Tesco website and the Orange has LOTs more sugar in it so guessing my levels will be higher meaning they diagnose me with Gestationl diabetes.
Ill have to mention it to my midwife at my appointent next week. Bet it means ill have to do it all over again!

memorylapse · 24/02/2010 14:10

pigley..that sounds odd...re your GTT..they usually ask you to attend for a fasting blood test at about 9am..then you drink the glucose drink they provide..then re test two hours later

rachelfruitloop · 24/02/2010 14:14

Cupcakefairy I just got some Corsodyl mouthwash yesterday, coincidentally, and it already seems to be working wonders on the mouth ulcers! I also met DH on the website for a band we both love!

Hobnobfanatic I also cried through nearly the whole episode of OBEM last night! I was so angry at that husband as well, so rude!! I find the programme is reminding me of the strange feeling I had when giving birth to DS1 ... that I am alone, it is down to me, and having my DH or mum there won't change that. I don't think I ever experienced that before and I find it quite a scary and sad sensation. Anyone else experience this? I hope it's easier to cope second time in that sense, at least I'll be a bit more confident.

LuckyC hope you have a great holiday!

Tomlin they say the margin is 2 cm either side of your weeks on fundal height, so sounds like you're still in the normal range. I also wonder if the transverse position of the baby might make the measurement a bit different, possibly?

Just got back from having GTT at hospital. What a hassle! The bus to hospital broke down, and then the one home was 5 mins early and zoomed past as I waddled to the bus stop! They were so busy in the lab but luckily set me as priority. I think they definitely didn't do my GTT in my last pregnancy correctly, last time the midwife had me fast for 12 hours and then drink a cup of Lucozade before coming to the clinic to have bloods drawn. This time I had bloods drawn after fasting 12 hours and then drank the sickening drink (not nearly as nice as Lucozade) and then had to wait there for 2 hours and then they took more blood.

Tomorrow will be another bus adventure to a different hospital for a meeting with a consultant midwife. It is also my DH's birthday tomorrow and I have made him a cake that is shaped like a Star Wars Lego Rebel Pilot mini figure. (DH is a bit Lego mad, big kid!) I'm really looking forward to eating lots of cake! I hope everyone else is well and hanging in there!
