Hang in there everyone! We will all have babies soon(-ish). And none of us will be pregnant anymore, hurrah!

Damn I missed that women's downhill, gah.

Yes, DB give us a quick post to say you're ok?

Congrats P&P! Post on the post-natal board soon to tell us more...?

Arcadie · 18/02/2010 15:35

2 more weeks until i qualify for "full term"...... Don't want a baby at 37 weeks as I have too much to do, but would quite like the beach ball off my stomach......
(Feeling sorry for self day)

Congratulations P&P!!!
I don't have time to read and catch up with everything, but I hope you are all well, enjoying your last weeks of pregnancy and good night sleeps

Dear DrSkid just for you I've obligingly relieved some pressure as you your being next in line by my waters breaking about an hour and a half ago!

Very glad I was at home as was the mega gush of films, followed by lots more gushes (still going).

Home birth midwife on her way to assess me and I think I'm getting what feel like strong braxton hicks - no pain yet.

Doula is of course going to Italy tomorrow morning (she's not on call yet as am not 38 weeks till monday) which is a shame, but hey ho!

Very amusingly young handyman was here putting up shelves and nearly died a death when I came in saying my waters had just broken.

Eek - am having a BABY!

Pingpong · 18/02/2010 16:29

WOW rebecca things are really happening for you!
Good luck and as it's a homebirth we are expecting lots of updates!!!!!
Shame about the doula but at least you have DH.

scooby26 · 18/02/2010 16:33

rebeccad - wow how exciting!!! Good luck - hope it goes ok for you!! A few weeks early but to term so luck you - best of both worlds!!

Caitni · 18/02/2010 16:47

Rebecca wow!! How amazing!! Good luck - sending you lots of vibes for a speedy birth

Ang am loving the reflexolgy vs acupuncture idea . It was very enjoyable today, I think she put needles in pretty much the same spots a reflexologist would use. Am back in for another session next Wed. I had a lovely walk back home in the rain and am now in the midst of a Curb Your Enthusiasm box set afternoon

Pixie sounds like those BHs were pretty full on, though glad your DDs are staying put for now. You're doing such a good job of carrying them so far! at your DC's responses to the skating...they're right, but i think that's why I enjoy it all so much!

So exciting that between Mumbot and Rebecca more thread babies are arriving...

evitas · 18/02/2010 17:03

Rebecca!! Oh my God!! Good luck. I'll be sending you positive thoughts (virtual hugs)

TakeLovingChances · 18/02/2010 17:15

Oh my word, Rebecca congrats to you! Hope all goes well for the birth of your little one.

rebeccacad · 18/02/2010 18:08

Quick update - midwife just been. All looks fine and though I haven't started dilating she said cervix was nice and short and soft.

Off to have a bath (apparently fine in my own bath even though waters broken), have a nap and then start stomping about, burning clary sage to get things going.

Thanks for all the good wishes.

x

Evening all - HURRAYYY Rebeccacad keep us posted, well done you! Oooh we'll have another by the weekend then!!

Makes my irrational AIBU rant that I was going to post about DH slightly whimsical so will leave it till he gets home and properly buggers it up at that

Physio today was semi successful, hoping I remember to do exercises and actually get some real movement in my hips..
And thanks for all good wishes on DD she is much better I think, I hope anyway!!
DH home back in a bit

DrSkidaddle · 18/02/2010 19:15

wow rebecca!!!! How exciting and do keep us updated (as long as you can - don;t need to tell us about the pushing bit ! And thanks for taking the pressue of me!

Feeling quite sorry for myself - saw the MW today for a sweep and she said the baby is back to back - are back to back labours really as bad as I've heard they are? Has anyone had one with no pain relief? She also said my cervix looked OK but not quite ready. (She also said she could feel the baby's head and he didn;t have much hair - that'll be my baldy DH's genes then...) Had stupidly been fantasising about going and her telling me I was 3cm dilated or something... oh well two more weeks until they have to induce me...

oh huge congrats to P&P - do we have any more info? Name? How did labour go?

BPM - how stressful re redundancies - hopefully you can push all that to the back of your mind once you're not actually in work anymore

Oh yes and another thing stressing me out is that DS has threadworm so we have been on a mad cleaning spree - wiping down all surfaces, washing all bedclothes, cuddly toys etc... I suppose I could think of it as uber-nesting...

hi to everyone else and of those enjoying ML (i.e. you lucky first timers!)

PacificDogwood · 18/02/2010 19:18

Wow, rebeccacad, how very very exciting! Hope you have a really good labour and delivery. No pressure at all to keep us updated with regular posts ! Your DH can do that on an hourly basis - it'll keep him out of your hair and us informed .

I'll leave it at just waving at everybody else, tired boys to put in bath and bed, early night for everybody tonight, me thinks!

Really hoping to wake up to more news of brand-new babas

74slackbladder · 18/02/2010 20:20

ooo how exciting a baby on the way....good luck rebecca

scooby26 · 18/02/2010 20:47

Evening- quick question. Am i the only one that has strange bodily noises? Let me just clarify! All day today if i bend or lean forward my bump makes a squelch or gurgling noise.tis very odd! Any thoughts? X

snowflakesarahandco · 18/02/2010 21:19

WOW REBECCA hope all goes well for you! i am very jealous!!!!! thats how my 1st 2 labours began !

really feeling fed up now, 38 +1 and not having a good week- have been being sick- i lost all feeling in my face and sight in right eye and pins and needles down my right arm- saw gp who thinks it was probably migraine related, thought i was on the mend- now it appears i have very loose stools(sorry tmi) am kind of hoping its my bodies way of getting ready for child birth but not really sure, these 3rd babies are so unpredicatbale!!!!

oh and whilst at the docs i picked up a vasectomy leaflet for DH def having no more babies!!!!!

Scooby-i am totally with you on the strange noises from bump- i thought it was my dodgy tummy but perhaps its not!

Hope everyone is ok,

sorry for miserable post but feeling sorry for myself!!!!!

Dalrymps · 18/02/2010 22:10

Evening

Wow Rebecca!!! So exciting, i'm very , keep us updated when you can! Eeek!

DrSkid - I had a back to back labour with ds1, he was perfect position till the day before then turned

Anyway, it wasn't reeeeally long, on the contrary it was a very short intense labour.

I would say the back pain was pretty strong but what got me through was dh constantly just rubbing/massaging the bottom of my back quite firmly, he had to start using moisturiser as a lubricant after a few hours as he said he was making his hands shiny . I don't have a 'normal' labour to compare it to but it was bareable... I got through on gas and air and did ask for pethadine at one point but I think I was in the transition stage by then and the midwife said it was too late for that. After that point it wasn't so bad as I went on to the pushing stage and I felt like the pain was more purposeful and I could do somehthing with it iyswim.

I would say if your baby still is back to back when you go in to labour just see how you go, don't expect it to be really bad as you might cope reasonably well, everyone is different... Equally though you don't get any medals for being brave so ask for pain relief if you need it!

Have uploaded some bump pics for you all to nosy at, please ignore my stupid smile, it was the end of a looong day!

annamama · 18/02/2010 22:23

Good luck Rebecca, so exciting!

Sarah - that sounds awful... hope you get better soon.

DrSkid - I know some people have ok back to back labours but mine was totally awful, sorry. I didn't even know it was back to back until it was too late. I had been sitting leaning back a lot (not good) and I also was forced to lie down in labour to be monitored. They didn't realise it was back to back until like 10 minutes before DD was ventoused out, then I was like, oh this is why I've been in labour for 3 days and had the most awful pain ever in my back and bottom, felt like I was trying to poo out a watermelon. So my advice is to lean forward as much as you can now and in labour! (I'm trying to do the same here.) And if it's still back to back, don't feel bad asking for an epidural (I did in the end).

MummyElk - good that your Elk is better! My DD has just come down with her 5th cold in a row... My mum has told me that the baby will also get all the bugs that DD brings home from nursery, great.

What am I doing still up? Better get some sleep while I still can... Nite nite all.

donttrythisathome · 19/02/2010 00:10

Exciting re Rebecca! Can't wait to hear how it goes!

Great news re pureenpearls too.

It's hotting up around here!

I'm 38 wks too but must be the only one hoping the baby stays in until the due date as loads to do in the house!! I'm not uncomfortable or anything so feeling pretty lucky.

Really want to hear how the remedies for starting labour go though in case I go very overdue.

snowflakesarahandco · 19/02/2010 01:51

Arggggg we're all having babies...... and soon!

siamesecatwoman · 19/02/2010 08:24

ICWAS i have no idea how I managed to get up and dressed and do housework etc and work in one day.. mat leave is flying by!

BelgianMummy · 19/02/2010 08:43

Wow - good luck to everyone in the midst of having babies! So exciting.

Morning everyone else!

I am off for a growth scan this morning to see how this little man is doing. If he is above average big then the ELCS will probably be brought forward which would leave little chance for a VBAC. I know I should have stayed away from those chocolates, cakes, sugary drinks, mars bars biscuits!

Can't wait to hear more from Rebecca and Sarah!!
