Hi all - just a quickie as I feel as though I have been hit by a train and need to rest while I can.

Patrick Anthony arrived on Thursday 18th Feb at 10.12 pm weighing 5lb 4oz (a very respectable weight considering how worried they were about him). Delivery was very dramatic and ended in an emergency c-section but I am home now and he is an absolute darling!

Congrats to all who have had their babies - more news later. x

Hi Grizzer you'll find us over here now
Sorry to hear you are facing induction due to complications. I don't have any experience of induction, hynotherapy or acupuncture, sorry

Report
Grizzer · 22/02/2010 22:51

Congratulations to all the new mums!
Advice needed please, I'm due Friday week but had appointment with consultant today & induction was mentioned due to my high blood pressure and baby has a small heart problem . I've been trying natal hypnotherapy and so am really not keen on being induced. Would anyone recommend trying acupuncture as a more 'natural' method of induction? Does it really work?

Hi there, just popping in to say lovely DS2 born by section as planned. Just recovering but wanted to let you know all is OK.

Got lots of your news to catch up on, hugs to alll x

Wow, just caught up on the last 10 pages (is it just me or are we the most prolific antenatal bunch on here?) and two more babies! And possibly more than that! Huge congrate to Sarah. Think I already congratulated P&P. Hope you're all enjoying lots of snuggles

MummyElk you asked about the "bathroom lady", that was me. It's all finished now, still not entirely happy but at this point I'm just glad to have them out of the house so I'm learning to live with the "imperfections". They touched up the bath with enamel paint; it's not perfect, but it'll do for now. My Dad has been here this week doing lots of little DIY jobs, bless him. My Mum has a bet that the baby will arrive while he's here; he's leaving tomorrow though! Actually I think I could cope with the baby arriving now (I'm 38+1). Would prefer that to having 4 more weeks to wait..

Caitni I think I saw you mention that you're booked in to the Whittington but now I can't find your post to confirm it. Sorry if I'm mixing you up woth someone else, but anyway.. me too! Hoping to use the shiny new birth centre, it looks lovely. And I also have a to do list, actually an Excel file, divided up by room Am slowly getting though it, and finally feel like if the baby arrives soon the house will be in a reasonably organised state.

Shroomer sugary things really set my heartburn off too, but I don't have the willpower not to eat them It seems to be getting much worse now too; maybe just more relaxin in the run up to the birth?

Hope everyone else is doing well... I'm going to have a look at the postnatal thread.

NEW ANTE-NATAL THREAD HERE

*

And on there is a link to the post-natal thread too...

Report
MandaHugNKiss · 20/02/2010 12:12

siamese thanks for the tip...

And the shoot was ok, well, you know, something different to do on a thursday rather than sit around moping!

I was the only pregnant one there and literally everyone asked how long I had to go and whether I knew what I was having! Then, during a smaller group shot, a lady behind me passed out and I had multiple comments about how everyone thought it was me/was gonna be me Cue lots of 'you've done so well to be on your feet all these hours...' When the group shots were done (one with everyone, 60+ women - then three lots of about 20) there was the oppourtunity to film vox pops but I was pretty knackered by then (almost 4pm and I arrived at 10am) so chose to go home with my goody bag (a few dove products, a £20 M&S voucher, and £10 cash travel expenses).

Of course, once I hear about it going live on the website, a link will be provided

manda nice to 'see' you again - did the Dove shoot happen this week?

If you want to find the post natal thread you can click on my username (or someone else's who has mentioned it) and see what we've posted on recently and click from there..

Im soooo tired whinge I havent slept properly in weeks it feels like - these chuffing hands!! Splints have stopped helping, and Im taking paracetamol like its going out of fashion.

Cant remember who asked - was it Smac - my midwife was telling me it was unlikely my waters would break before contractions kicked in - after anxious enquiries from DH about amnoctic fluid and its effects on new matresses and car seats.. she may have just been calming him down.. - give what has happened our ladies here so far!!

Thanks for telling me I'm 'normal' ladies... that's the frustrating thing; when you know you're not yourself, know it's normal, but can't do a darned thing about it!

Where, oh where is the post natal thread? My brain has seriously gone into melt down lately and now it seems I'm even incapable of finding a thread!

Ah, Sarah has popped too! And presumably mumbot is also a-snuggling. Awwww. Many congrats! little teary eyed

In the meantime, for all of us still waiting, we need another thread. I love "I'm a baby get me out of here!" Is it ok if I start another thread with that title? We won't be on it for too long anyway...

Also I copied and pasted the latest list (that Sarah just posted) but without the spaces as it takes up so much space. Hmm I must be bored today, feel like one of the head girls again...

Right, will try and go back to bed now...not only am I suffering from leg cramps & heartburn I also have a horrible throat infection which is keeping me awake. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Sarah and Rebecca big congrats on your speedy births . Also a bit of the speed! Am delighted for you both.

P&P so glad you're home with your brand new girl - I love the name Annabel by the way!

Well done to all our new mums and hope mumbot's doing well as well

DrSkid sorry that they couldn't be more conclusive re waters but I reckon you won't have long to wait now [caitni polishes her crystal ball of baby gazing]. Nothing much came of my little show on Sunday, other than my cervix feels quite soft and low now but discharge seems to have tailed off so definitely no more pinky mucous. But Braxton Hicks/tightenings have started since the acupuncture yesterday. So am hoping things are moving in the right direction!

Shroomer loving the show dream - sounds like the sort of one I'd have (loved the genius programme btw. Also not particularly squeamish!).

Scooby sorry to hear the nobby stiles are still bothering you...

Manda sorry to hear you're feeling a bit blah...tis perfectly natural at this point I think. Do feel free to come on and vent if you need to - no need to be "social" iykwim as we're here for all the bits, good and bad and blah! Hope the BP and ketones stay down too.

Scooby gosh, it would be most inconvenient for you if baby arrived this week!

Pacific hurrah for maternity leave! And so nice about the flowers & chocs...though what a busy weekend you have planned [tips imaginary cap at PD's amazing multi tasking ability!).

Donttry thanks for that link - sounds like a v good idea that bra. Need to find a place that will meausre me [hassle]. Although my maternity bras still fit fine (relatively roomy really) so am wondering if I can just go for the same bust size but go up a cup size...

And big waves to everyone else. Hope everyone's doing well, barring the usual aches and pains of late pregnancy...

All these babies arriving have been a bit of a reality check for me. So sat down this afternoon and wrote out a big list of things to do, divided by room etc [anal emoticon]. We've now started on the tasks, and already I'm feeling like this baby won't be born into a squalid flat to parents who procrastinate the most basic/random things! The simple reward of ticking things off a list is not to be underestimated

Most excitingly, the birth pool is filling as I type, so that it is actually ready for when I go into labour. I'm so glad my DH isn't phased by filters/heaters/random pipes as it looks like way more hassle than I'd be able for!

Right, off to check out the postnatal thread...

Sarah-wow and congratulations! Pacific-enjoy your well earne maternity leave now its finally arrived-although the wore bonkers comes to mind for voluntarily having so many small boys under your roof at this late stage! X

BelgianMummy · 19/02/2010 22:31

Congratulations sarah and Rebecca! I am very impressed with the speed of your births. I hope it's contagious! I can't believe how many babies there are suddenly, and there isn't even a full moon. Good luck DrSkid Pacific Enjoy the first weekend on maternity leave, although rest doesn't seem to be part of it. Oh well, plenty of time for that next week!

Walnut I think it varies. Mine stayed huge throughout 6 months of bf... I had bought one or two before my DD was born and was only able to use them the past few weeks. I also like the idea of expanding bras!

Manda, hang in there! Not long to go now.

According to my scan my little boy is nice and average. I know they aren't reliable, though I have mine done by the same dr. with the same machine each time, so it should be relatively reliable. At least it means that the ELCS is not being brought forward .
The bad news is that baby is back2back at the moment. Apparently I have to lie on my left side and let me belly hang over the edge of the sofa/bed. Sounds very uncomfortable, but any excuse to laze in front of the tv! .

I hope you all have a very good night without too many trips to the loo!!

Oh, congratulations, sarah, how very very exciting! Phantastic name, too, BTW (both on our short list ).

Hope you and your son are doing well and having lots of cuddles

Gosh, I am hyperventilating with excitement - this is faaaaar more exciting then any Super G !!

Re feeding bras - I always went for stretchy that would 'cover' a couple of cup sizes rather than really huge, as things do settle down again after the initial boob-trying-to-take-over-the-world stage.
Can't remember where/who mine are from as I keep recycling the same ones [tight]...

Last day at work today and was almost reduced to tears when presented with chocolates and flowers by reception staff, sniff! I thought I'd have to produce a baby first before I'd be entitled to gifts .
Are you done as well now, BPM? I seem to remember we had the same finishing off date.

Busy weekend planned: pick up my DB from airport, friends coming to visit with their 3 boys which will give us a total of 6 boys under 10 in the house >
Hove to book DSs birthday party.
Make chocolate brownies
Usual firefighting to keep the mountain of laundry down
Oh, gah, I better go to bed when I think about it...

Take care everybody .

Hi all,

Welcome back iwonka

Hope you are all having a restful friday night. My sis is coming up from London tomorrow and had hoped that small child would have appeared - just for her- this despite her being a doctor and knowing he's not DUE for another 2 WEEKS!! Shouldn't think it likely but given that we are likely to have 2 funerals late next week and DH has a job interview on Thursday it would be about as inconvenient as you could get - so you never know

Off to read in bed and enjoy the peace that is DH being nightshift - oh the joy of starfishing in a big bed!!!!

Evening all - thanks for the good wishes.

We've had a lovely cuddly day today and she seems to be feeding.

Feel a bit knackered and sore, but feel I got off pretty lightly.

Have posted the birth story on the post-natal thread - it's not too scary in terms of writhing in agony but a bit of a crazy rollercoaster as it was so fast.

Will do my best to read back and check in with all of you soon. Can't wait to hear more from March thread babies - even if they do decide to show up in February!
