SCW - DH's parentes also used to do this - he's sit int he pub all night with crisps and coke whilst thye drank int he pub. ALso at 11 he'd be asked to look after his epileptic baby brother and would be told off if he had a fit!

Thing is - he still has his mum on a pedistal and has only recentl begun to relaise that this is not good parenting.

What scares me is what my children will sy about me on discussion boards

well my panic over position of baby seems to be unfounded. Just back from MW appointment and head down, bum up, 3/5th engaged, BP and wee wee all fine all set to go! No more Mw appointments booked as I have a consultant appointment at 40w so I'm to phone if there is any action . . . . .
House looking slightly better but still a bit more housework to be done but feel absolutely shattered after doing a Tesco shop.
IWCAS sickness and heartburn will disappear after birth
sounds promising siamese - your body is definitely getting ready for labour! I said to MW today I thought I would know what to expect second time round but I'm still dithering around analysing every twinge! She said, like every MW you will know when it happens

scooby26 · 16/02/2010 17:05

Hi all
sorry for not posting. I've been knackered. By the time I've read all the posts I haven't had time to then post!!!

Officially finally finally finished work - woohoo!!!! til about 12 Oct - not that I'm counting!!!

smac It's strange isn't it - I would never have believed before I was pregnant that I wouldn't be able to work out which way round the baby is but I really can't. I keep feeling lots of squirming but it's all a bit non descript. I hope it doesn't make me a bad mother. I keep being told he is head down but I'm worried that if I can't work it out - how do they!!!! I also keep hoping he isn't back to back but I wish I could tell.

I slipped on the ice the other day and did a bit of a 'bambi' Ever since I've found it increasingly difficult to walk and I get really sharp pains in my groin area. I can't decide it if's the way the baby is lying, this famous SPD or I've done myself an injury!! I really struggle to walk, stand on one leg (i.e to put clothes on not to do tricks!!!) or climb stairs etc etc.

Is everyone else still suffering swellings - I think I've put on nearly half a stone in just over a week - all fluid - the joys!!!

iwcas very jealous of your cleaner - can I have him/her??

As I type I am watching my potatoes boil - I'm making cottage pie on mass to freeze for the weeks to come. Made batches of lasagne at the weekend.

Sadky I can't get the same enthusiasm for cleaning!!!

xx

Hi, all,

oh, how wonderful to hear your good news, EmLouT! Great to hear your baby is doing ok. I wonder what the actual weight is going to be? Would it be in bad taste to open a book ?? V best of luck for Thrusday.

well, we made it back from Centreparcs, great fun was had by all and bump is still intact (no, I did NOT use pool as ginormous birthing pool ). Saw a tiny 10 day old baby in the pool which I now find a bit worrying as my 3 have come home with runny nose, croupy cough and conjunctivitis respectively, gah! Anyway, they do not care.
I walked a bit too much, some of it with DS3 on my shoulders and am now paying for it with SI joint stiffness - should've really known better.
On the way back to the car yesterday, DS3 was obviously so ridiculoursly tired, he fell asleep on his trike while I was pushing him, bless! I only realised when he started listing to one side .

3 more days to go at work, yeah! I so want to be nesting but no time so far: Must Have Time At Home Before Bubs Arrives

Sympathies to everybody who is getting fed up with being pregnant and wants to see their 'reward' for putting up with all this physical and emotional nonsense - me too!
According to scan dates I am 37 weeks today (according to LMP not before Friday...) and had another growth scan today: all well. My bone marrow did not show anything worrying which is the main thing, but equally nothing to explain what had been going on . FWIW, had my blood count checked again today.

Right, that's me checked in again.
I am now off to read PandP's thread, poor woman! Imagine the dashed expectations, nevermind whatever she had to live through...

Shroomer · 16/02/2010 17:17

Scoobie - you may have pulled something small in your groin area, everyhing's soft due to the relaxin. My pubis area is a little sort, but nothing major, and I'm putting this down to the baby's head (finally!) being engaged.

Yes, I had my 36wk MW appt today and all was well. No longer transverse, now bottom up and 2/5 engaged. Phew. She said, ominously, 'see you at in 2 weeks - perhaps'.

My tasks for this week: learn how to use new camcorded, then demonstrate to partner. Tasks for next week: begin batch cooking food for the freezer.

annamama · 16/02/2010 18:55

Smac - I was happy to read your post! I also think that the baby has turned into a weird position but I hope I'm wrong like you...

snowflakesarahandco · 16/02/2010 19:12

just checking in,

Poor you p and p hope your ok xxx

i spent all day yesterday being sick- and generally feeling awful - convinced labour was kicking off- had regualr contractions during the night- sadly come to nothing!!!! been having alot of tightenings throughout the day too but very irregular!!!

come on baby!!!!! i am ready now!!!!!

hope everyone is ok, xxx

Sariska · 16/02/2010 20:05

Also just checking in. First real day of mat leave today as I never work Mondays. Have a mammoth list of stuff to do but decided to prioritise sleeping - which was lovely. I am convinced I have ages to go before this baby arrives. This is in total contrast to my feelings last time round when I (a) interpreted every twinge as A Sign; and (b) was desperate to meet my baby. That's not to say I don't have total sympathy to those desperate for this pregnancy lark to be over and for their baby to arrive - especially P&P. I do hope things have gone better for her today.

I have another growth scan tomorrow as am now measuring only 32 1/2 weeks at 37+2. But it's an inexact science, isn't it? And baby is 2/5 engaged, which presumably has some effect on the measurements.

hecklephone · 16/02/2010 20:37

Hello everyone. I hope everyone's feeling ok tonight and getting a rest from all the late PG aches, pains and discomfort. And well done to those of you busy in the kitchen making lots of food! A great idea, but I'm not so excited about it I'd actually DO it...!

Just thought I'd post a quick update on my frozen face - it's slowly but surely unfreezing - hurrah! I'm really surprised it's happening already but delighted that it is - I was dreading the first few family photos with the new baby as I thought I'd look a bit freakish, but now I can definitely manage a smile and my eye's trying to blink again. I feel much healthier too - my energy levels are much improved (as improved as they can be at 37 weeks PG!) and I don't feel 'ill' any more, apart from still having pretty bad vertigo, which means I still can't drive or walk in a very straight line. Still, as I've said, I think this level of improvement is much better than I could've expected already and I'm so thankful that I feel much more like myself than I did 2 or 3 weeks ago. So thanks to all of you who sent happy thoughts and good wishes my way - it's obviously worked!

As for PG discomfort - I'm doing ok there but am definitely looking forward to getting my body back. Have been wandering through the shops recently looking longingly at non-PG clothes and looking forward to having a jolly good shopping spree when I'm bump-free!

Off to watch last night's Glee. Am taping One Born Every Minute so I can watch it from behind the sofa tomorrow morning and fast forward any scary bits!

Pingpong · 16/02/2010 21:00

oh that's great news hecklephone I'm so glad you are beginning to feel a bit more normal again. Like you I am desperate to get out of my maternity gear I'm so sick of it all now.
sariska hope your scan is okay. I'm measuring big you are measuring small - they need big ones and small ones to make an average don't they? That's what I keep telling myself anyway. Measurements are notoriously dodgy though but at least with a scan they can check your fluid levels too as I think that can be more of a concern than baby size.
scooby given that sometimes even midwives get it wrong it's not too surprising that we struggle. I think it gets harder as they get bigger as they are now so squashed up so bum is quite rounded as is the head - obviously!
Great news that babyshroomer is no longer transverse and annamama I hope your wee girl is getting her head down too and not playing at gymnastics.
pacific you are officially mad for trying to carry DS3 on your shoulders at almost 37weeks! You should know better glad nothing showed up on the bone marrow results but do understand you still would want to know what was going on.
Right I'm logging off for a spot of ball bouncing followed by an early night.

74slackbladder · 16/02/2010 21:15

Arcadie · 17/02/2010 08:37

well done Pixiegirl!

annamama · 17/02/2010 09:36

Oh how disappointing the One born every minute was last night! No births on camera! That wasn't P&P being induced I hope...? Poor woman although she was very annoying. The young one was annoying too bless her and the boyfriend looked traumatised throughout.

I'm determined to have an easy labour this time and smile and joke throughout!

74slackbladder · 17/02/2010 10:09

just been trying to catch up on last few days. impossible. a couple of days offline and i am totally lost!

seems lots of you are feeling like me and getting fed up with the whole pg thing now.
i still have 5 weeks to go in theory which seems like a lifetime at the moment.

me and ds1 have jsut had a nice couple of days at my folks. they did lighten the load of amusing a livley toddler i must admit.

And... we now officially have my dad on standby to drive over when i go into labour - hurrah! massive weight off my mind. they are only just over an hour away and we have been really struggling to think who we can reasonably call on in the small hours (had v quick labour last time) when we need to get to hospital. So he will be on standby with mobile phone parked next to his bed!

Right, today's job, tracing plans for upstairs extension to sumbit planning application before baby arrives. I get all the fun jobs!

On pg front, new symptoms for me, low level period type pain on one side. Initially was all excited it was labour, but its been like this since friday now, so i think just things gearing up slowly rather than any sign of anything imminent.

hecklephone · 17/02/2010 11:30

annamama I agree it's a shame there wasn't an on-camera birth (although I'm still a bit scared of watching so close to my own birth!) And I had thought there was going to be a water birth this week which I do want to see. That girl was soooo annoying - what a fuss she made! I just wanted to give her a slap and tell her to wise up! Her mum was good, though, finally telling her to get a grip. I felt really sorry for her poor partner - he looked utterly traumatised!

I'm with you - smiling, joking, relaxed labour for me please!

I've decided I really can't put it off any more - I'm packing the hospital bag today! First step, prizing myself away from MN....

MummyElk · 17/02/2010 13:10

i.....am......soooooooooooooooo........tired...........today.............zzzzzzzzzzzz

scooby26 · 17/02/2010 14:29

Afternoon ladies,

pixie soo pleased for your clever daughter!!

hecklephone Glad you're feeling so much better. I'm with you on the clothes front - although not because I'm sick of maternity gear - i quite like what I have - I just yearn to fit into anything vaguely thin!! I look with envy at gym kit of all things!!!!! I also thought there was due to be a waterbirth this week - never mind - have to keep watching. I soooooo hope I'm not as lame as that young girl!!!! Had the utmost sympathy for the chinese lady though - 4 days of trying to induce her and forgetting her lunch when she is diabetic - not good. I'd be losing my patience too.

Had a pootle into town and caught up wirh shroomer for coffee. Now wondering if I can justify one little afternoon snooze now that I've started my maternity leave..........surely the tidying up will do itself.......x

BelgianMummy · 17/02/2010 17:16

Mumbot you are going to have a baby tomorrow. How exciting! What time are you going in?

Pixie congrats for your daughter.Very impressive!

Not sure about where you all are but the weather had been heavenly where I am today. As a result I have finally had a day filled with lots of walking, which I have promised myself I would do as soon as I started maternity leave (3 weeks ago) but the weather has always given me an excuse. I hope you are all enjoying a rainless day too!!

Time for tea and s!

Arcadie · 17/02/2010 18:07

Woooo hoooo Mumbot Thinking of you.
and P&P - hoping that "no news is good news".

OP posts:
PacificDogwood · 17/02/2010 19:03

Just to say good luch to mumbot for tomorrow !! At least there will be no unsuccessful induction for you...
Tell MrMumbot we will be expecting photos within the hour of delivery, of course .
Seriously, wishing you all the best and cannot wait to hear good news.

Re mat gear, TBS, most of my mat clothes are more fashionable than my usual stuff - that's not saying much, mind you, it is just because it is a bit newer - I so hate shopping with a fashion. Must address this issue at some point. Mind you last time I really only managed to lose weight after I stopped BFing, gah!!

Great news, hecklephone, that your face is unfreezing and you are feeling better.

Oh, good, now DS3 is hewlping
