...now the "Crazy Baby Ladies"!

Had the idea to start this thread because, after getting my BFP on Monday, it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to lose contact with a lot of lovely people. I feel sad every time anyone leaves (though obviously happy for you that you've got your BFP) and thought this might be a nice idea, so that we can continue to keep in touch. After all, we've been through a lot together, haven't we?!

Also, I felt a bit out of my depth on the other threads, where it seemed like most of the members had already had children. There didn't seem to be a "first-timers" thread on here. (Unless I missed it!)

So here goes!

Oh my, its like a broke the seal...i cant stop peeing today!!! (also two more BFPs today!) And is excessive.....wind.....a common symptom...cause lets just say im running out of air freshener!! HAHA!!

Spirael is Gadget the name you have chosen or just a nick name until baby is born?

bunny Id love to have some maternity jeans even when i wasnt preggers..lol, they look so comfy! I know a girl who had a baby over a year ago and she still wears them secretly..lol, i have a feeling i will be one of those!!

Ack, i gotta stop getting excited...im so afraid something is going to happen, but trying to stay calm! Had my first avoidance of alcohol in public moment today, wow..i really hope that gets easier, but successful none-the-less!

pixiestix · 01/05/2010 20:27

Congratulations Homebound. I am LOLing at the image of your caveman DH - mine was exactly the same!!

Bunny - Glad you found some nice maternity stuff. It is out there but you really have to look past all the tent shaped stuff. I have managed to get some really nice summer dresses, but trousers have been a bit of a disaster so far. I have always looked foul in skinny jeans, pg or not, so at least I didn't have that worry! Grr at your DH not going "Oh wow, you really do look pg now!" or something equally flattering!
I love the idea of God giving you well timed wind for the scan! But I think it was probably more like baby movement!

Trying - hope that you are doing ok, and that LO has turned. Great news about the urine tests coming back clear.

Lucky7 - that was one hell of a deceptive drinking plan! Let us know if it works or not. Hope that whatever happens re the drinking you have a fabulous birthday! And how did your mum and sister react? Was it non-stop screaming? My mum did a bit of that herself!

I have been feeling much better thanks Roses. In fact, I was actually getting a bit complacent this week and thinking that the sickness had disappeared. Nope. Cue me with my head down the toilet and DH standing in the doorway saying "WTF?? What is going on?? You don't get sick any more!" Um, yeah, thanks for that love, but as I am currently barfing my guts up I think maybe I do still get sick after all!! But I am a million times better than I was a few weeks ago.

Gorgeous nursery Spirael and OMG do I have bump envy!!! Fantastic tum! Im totally with you on all the "Little Princess" clothing - if I have a girl I'm hoping to get some fab red or orange sleepsuits. But most things round my way are either baby pink, baby blue, or beige

Good question about hopes for after pregnancy Hermya. At this stage it is so all-consuming to just want to get out the other side with a LO that I tend to neglect the fact that I will then actually have a baby! I too want to breastfeed for as long as I can, and hopefully without too much pain. I want to keep LO away from chocolate and TV for as long as possible. I want to spend lots of time outdoors, so hopefully winter 2010 will not be too horrendous! I want to keep up my studies, which only take up about six hours a week of my time, but which I fear might get totally shelved with a squawking newborn in the house! And like Ozzie I want to hold on to the relationship I have now with DH. That is one of my biggest fears. We are so happy right now - I would hate to look back on my life and think that having a LO was the point at which everything screwed up. But hopefully that won't happen.

Well, have a fab weekend everyone. I work in tourism so I will be back at work bright and early at 8am tomorrow morning - think of me as you have your Sunday lie in, with a Bank hol to follow!

pixiestix · 01/05/2010 20:33

Oh god, I was yapping on so long I have cross posted with everyone!

Your "delusional" child sounds lovely Hermya - I might have one of those for myself actually!

Homebound - yes, unfortunately wind is a common symptom. I live in fear of the moment that I stand up suddenly at work and accidentally trumpet a dawn chorus! LOL at Spirael calling the baby Gadget for real when she arrives. Although obviously, if she does we will all say how lovely and unusual it is!

bunnygirl80 · 02/05/2010 01:34

I am posting this on both threads so feel free to only read it once!

chance Is it a while since you've been back to Oz? All the men here are criers now - if you walk down the street they are all sobbing like girls over cute puppies Actually I am convinced they get the contestants for those shows from some sort of asylum! I did see a story on the news the other day about a guy getting bitten by a snake but not bothering to go to hospital until he'd finishing whatever sport it was he was watching on the TV

Glad your MIL is doing well, and I hope her surgery has been successful this time.

spirael I love the nursery pics. It makes me a bit sad that as we're in a rented place we can't decorate much. Not that I have the artistic ability to paint murals on the wall - it would just end up scaring the poor baby!

worrisome It must be nice to hear Mr Teeny's heartbeat. Are you looking forwards to your trip to NZ? Maternity tops all seem to be cut to fit over huge bumps - I ended up buying ordinary tops in a size bigger than normal. I went for looser fitting long line tops and I actually think they'll last me for ages.

I didn't buy any baby things when I went shopping - I ventured into the baby section and felt all tearful looking at the tiny clothes so I ran away before I became a complete wreck

Hermya I hate it when that happens on ebay, although I never bid until right at the end so I'm probably guilty of doing the last minute outbidding!! I'm watching a couple of Bugaboos on there at the moment - one is going for a really good price, so if it still looks like a bargain in a couple of days I might go for it.

Homebound sadly wind is a common pg symptom. It only seems to affect me in the evenings though so no worries at work. I just blame it on the baby - I told DH the wind passes down the umbilical cord from the baby to me and has to exit via me or the baby might explode

Pixie It must be rubbish having to work when everyone is off enjoying bank holidays. It's not a holiday here so I'll be in work on Monday too

I had my second netball game of the season yesterday, and we lost big time. I'm not sure how many more games I'll manage as I can feel my exercise tolerance starting to drop - I was getting out of breath quite easily. Although I'm not sure how much of that was related to pg and how much was related to the opposition all being about 10 years younger than me

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/05/2010 09:10

hermya well I think it was the head anyway! It was very hard and felt round but feeling it through my skin it could have been his little bottom aww its all so sweet!

Spirael · 02/05/2010 09:30

Morning all! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, and for those in the UK who are looking forward to another day off tomorrow for the bank holiday. Too bad the weather has gone a bit grotty, but at least it's not as bad here in Yorkshire as it is down in the South of the country!

For those who asked, I'd love to say I did the animal pictures in the nursery myself... But no, they're actually wall stickers. These ones in fact! My DH wouldn't let me do much painting in case I had problems with the fumes, so all I got to do in regard to the painting is mark out the hills. The stickers are great though, and easily removable for redecorating at a later date - though hopefully we'll have emmigrated before that happens!

You might be able to get away with using wall stickers in your rented place, bunnygirl? If the walls are painted, the stickers peel right off with no damage! I keep moving the animals around in the nursery at the moment trying to find the perfect positions for them. My DH thinks the animals keeep migrating!

To cease concerning people, Gadget is a nickname for the bump and not the true name for after birth. We haven't decided on a name yet, but we have a shortlist of three for a female and two for a male that we'll probably pick from once LO has made an appearance. I figure that if we settled on one name now, Gadget might pop out and look nothing like it! So best give ourselves some options.

I've had problems with only finding pink/beige/blue in shops for newborns too, pixie. It drives me insane! There are so many gorgeous colours out there, and few people know for definite the gender of their LO, so why limit it to such gender specific colours? I've managed to get some orange and yellow jungle themed vests and sleepsuits from mothercare, and my MIL managed to find a chocolate coloured hat with a matching blanket.

I, ahem, did indulge in picking up a couple of little dresses in the Monsoon Kids sale earlier in the year. I figured if the gender prediction is wrong then they'll make nice gifts for a friend or relative who may have a daughter! However one of the dresses is a bluey-green and the other is grey. No pink, woo!
