...now the "Crazy Baby Ladies"!

Had the idea to start this thread because, after getting my BFP on Monday, it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to lose contact with a lot of lovely people. I feel sad every time anyone leaves (though obviously happy for you that you've got your BFP) and thought this might be a nice idea, so that we can continue to keep in touch. After all, we've been through a lot together, haven't we?!

Also, I felt a bit out of my depth on the other threads, where it seemed like most of the members had already had children. There didn't seem to be a "first-timers" thread on here. (Unless I missed it!)

So here goes!

hermya the crib was so bad it caused a volcano to erupt!!! How have you been feeling today? Is your friend still staying with you?

chance thats not good about the fainting make the best of having a week off tho

worrisome I think I will avoid googling ?ugly baby? I would get toad from ebay, the person selling the crib may have one she wants to sell

Its my 12 week scan tomorrow, and I cant believe that im that far along already. Just got to hope all is ok in there.

aly323 · 15/04/2010 21:17

Looks like I'm back to the ttc thread. Hopefully you'll all save my place here. I'll be taking meds to speed things up soon and intend to get back to ttc asap (no matter what the doctor says).

Hermya that crib was so awful it was almost amazing. However, I was afraid to say anything just in case you were just a little "different" in your tastes.

Take care all. I'll keep an eye on you and will hopefully be back here sooner rather than later.

Pidgin · 15/04/2010 21:27

hi all

I've been away with work for a week and seemed to have missed a lot! Congratulations fulham and welcome to Lily, what a lovely name.

aly, really sorry to hear your news, hope you are alright - and look forward to seeing you back here soon.

Hope you are feeling OK Hermya - I think pregnancy is a very anxiety-provoking time.

And worrisome, my skin is also looking nicely adolescent - I'm waiting for the spots to go and the glowing to start!

and congrats on youf bfp capricorn and your boy ozzie!

hope everyone's doing OK.

bunnygirl80 · 16/04/2010 00:05

Aly sorry to hear your news. I hope to see you back here really soon.

worrisome why on earth does your DH think you should rub a toad on your face?! I thought touching a toad gives you warts anyway - but then at least the warts might cover up the spots I currently have hundreds of spots, but only on one side of my face....so at least for photos I can just show my "good side"

chance sorry to hear your still getting dizzy spells. At least you're getting a nice week off work.

hermya my mum often opens her mouth before her brain engages - she has told me more than onve that when she was pg with me they were so desperate for a boy that they only thought of boys names and bought boys clothes. Was a bit of a shock for her when I was a girl!! Just what I like to hear from my own parents....that I am the wrong gender

At least she says I was a cute baby though

Well I was properly sick for the first time yesterday. After weeks of severe nausea I was starting to feel slightly better until my lunch made a dramamtic reappearance. I blame it on hermya's crib - I was feeling great until I saw that I discovered that our bathroom is really badly designed for ms as the toilet is really close to the wall so I had to contort myself around it from the side while lying under the sink to get to it!!

Ozziegirly · 16/04/2010 00:24

Aly I'm so sorry to hear your news. Will be thinking of you, and hope to see you back here very soon.

bunnygirl80 · 16/04/2010 00:29

Just thought I'd update the list as capricorn got her BFP days ago and we haven't put her on the list yet.

Aly I've left you on the grads list for now - hope that's ok.

I got a sneak preview of what it's going to be like saying no to a small child this morning. My niece is visiting with family and she came into my room this morning and started messing with a few things, I woke up and said (very nicely I might add), 'niece should you be messing in here?' to which I got a bit of a squirm, 'Did Uncle H tell you that you could come in here?' Yet another squirm, 'I don't think he did, did he and you shouldn't be messing with xyz either should you, right then off you go' to which she promptly burst into tears and fled the room. Oh dear!

Aly So sorry to hear your news, I'll save a packet of biscuits for you. Also that crib really isn't to my taste at all. I'd rather put my baby in a drawer.

Fudge I'm feeling a lot better, my friend went home the other day and we've now got family staying with us.

Bunny LOL!! Fabulous! I do hope you look back on these times and laugh. When I was about seventeen I had the biggest crutch on this guy and used to catch the bus home with him from sixth form, (obviously my Mum knew as she had been reading my diary ) and my Mum got on the bus with my little brother. Obviously she clocked me and came to say 'hi', she also clocked said guy and decided to announce in a LOUD voice 'oh so you're so and so, you know Hermya really likes you, she talks about you all the time'. Suffice it to say at that point I wouldn't have minded the bus going up in flames.

Worrisome Hmmm never heard of that one before, maybe we should be going to the other boots to buy our special toads.

Pidgin It's not nice at times is it.

fudgecat · 16/04/2010 13:57

aly do you still have your scan on Monday or are you sure it is all over now? Feel so sad for you

bunny sorry to hear you have been sick I can?t picture your bathroom... surely if you can?t reach it to be sick in it then how can you use it for its normal purpose?

hermya im so glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better

Just got back from my 12 week scan Little splodge now looks like a real baby and was wriggling about like crazy the CRL was 53mm and the NT was 1.4mm so both seem to be within the normal range. The results of the NT and the bloods will take 7-10 days to come through so fingers crossed all will be ok.

Hermya321 · 16/04/2010 14:18

Fudge Great news about your scan, it's an odd moment isn't it to realise there is something in there. But at the same time, very very cool!!

pixiestix · 16/04/2010 16:52

OMG I can't believe how much has gone on - I've only been away a couple of days!

Fulham - that is so exciting!! I am actually bouncing up and down here! What a way to get to the front of the Frolicker baby queue! I can't wait to hear all about gorgeous Lily, and to hear the birth story in all its gory detail!

Trying and Pepperoni - you are up next! How are you feeling? Nervous?

Hermya - sorry you are feeling so rotten. Sending you lots of

Glad the scan went well Fudgecat - its such a relief to see them wriggling about in there, isnt it.

Bunny - poor you, huddled around the toilet I wish I could say that you will feel better soon but I think that Roses and I are not very good role models for that!

Aly - I am so sad for you I hope that you will be back with us very soon with happier news. How are you feeling physically? Is the diabetes still raging?
Sending you lots of love and strength.

I am doing well - had my 16 week check up with the midwife at the beginning of the week and got to hear the babys heart racing away with the doppler which was lovely. My bump seems to have exploded this week, so I am going to have to bite the bullet and tell all the people who don't know still. I've really liked having this pg as a massive secret, and most of my friends and colleagues are still in ignorance, but it is getting a bit obvious now. I can see people looking at me and wondering if I have eaten all the pies!!! But I have some lovely maternity dresses now - the joys of Dorothy Perkins!

Right, I am off to have a proper catch up and to check out this crib that everyone is talking about!

pixiestix · 16/04/2010 16:59

Oh, wow. That's special.

Forgot to say massive congrats to SpanishLady, Luckyseven and Capricorn - how are you guys all doing?

Chance Don't be down - a week with no work, and nothing to do but Mumsnet! Just enjoy!

aly323 · 16/04/2010 21:01

Thanks for all the warm thoughts ladies.

I'm sorry to report that I'm officially out. I don't want to go into too many details, but I did get to see a scan and the baby was measuring to date, then a couple days later, she wasn't. My betas showed a problem from the start and I never really felt the way I thought I should. This one just wasn't meant to be. There are positives- now I know that I can at least get pregnant, and I learned about my GD and can take proactive steps for my next pregnancy. Another positive is that I get to stop the insulin for now and can eat again.

It's been a rough time. However, I want to start trying again soon. I really want to get back on here before you all graduate from the grads thread!

bunnygirl80 · 17/04/2010 00:50

aly sorry to hear that you are definitely out I've taken you off the grads list, but I'm sure you'll be back really soon.

Are you going to get the diabetes investigated further - for it to be so severe so quickly, it sounds like you may have had an element of pre-diabetes all along. It's worth having it checked out for the sake of your own future health.

hermya shame on you making a small child cry!! You must be a scary looking aunt....or did the poor girl catch sight of that crib all set up in the corner of your room. I think your claims that you'd rather keep your baby in a drawer are just trying to cover up your disappointment that we don't all love your cot choice

fudge glad your scan went well. My bathroom's long and narrow, so when you sit on the toilet your knees are pretty close to the wall. It's just easier to puke into it from the side so then I can lean right back after and flush without looking at the contents.....I don't really deal well with sick, even my own!!

pixie I can't believe you've managed to keep quiet about being pg for 16 weeks! I'm such a blabber mouth I'm struggling not to tell people and I'm only 9 weeks!

I'm struggling to find clothes that I can still fit into comfortably. Yesterday, my jeans wouldn't do up at all, and they weren't even my tight ones. I don't want to buy anything new until I've had a scan and seen a healthy baby in there though - for some reason I'm convinced if I do then I'll make something go wrong Looks like I'll mostly be wearing my pjs for the next 2 weeks then

Aly I am so sorry to hear your news, you are amazingly positive which is the best way to be. I hope that you recover and get back to ttc very soon. We will be waiting for you xxxx

Bunny I feel your pain about the clothes, lucky for me i have been able to wear my PJs this week But I have to go and visit MIL this afternoon, which means 2 hours in the car...I am wondering if i could get away with track pants and then putting on proper clothes when i get there...have to think about that. I am waiting for next week, there is 30% off at Gap (sorry i know that wont help you) next week end, so I think I will be stocking up.

pixie I am jealous of your 16 week check up...I dont know when I will see the MW next, and I really want to know if i can hear the HB with an Anterior Placenta. Must be so good to hear I have to second Bunny...how on earth have you not told people? The Jig is up for me, I think now as I am off work anyone who didnt know knows now.

Fudge Fantastic news on the scan, did you get a picture??? it's great to see them actually looking like a real baby isnt it?

Hermya I have been emailing that link to friends...I really wish I could see a photo of the woman who would put her kid in that! too funny dont worry about your neice, i have made mine cry plenty of times. Lucky you though, if any of them come in my room in the morning its usually to come and jump on me to wake up

Not much news from me, have been resting and trying to cook while sitting down. Going to MIL today, we got some bad news about her cancer, she has to have at least 2 more ops soon.

Hope everyone can enjoy some of the sunshine today

Hobnob76 · 17/04/2010 10:40

Hiya ladies, not been on here for ages. The only excuse I have is that as Bunny rightly guessed, life has been busy [grin, that and the fact that I'm still being and feeling sick all day everyday. I'm 17 wks tomorrow and seriously thought I'd be over the sickness by now! My 12 wk scan was fab, just the one baby in there and the NT bit of the scan was excellent, I'm very low risk for Down's. I had my 16 wk appt with the midwife this week and we heard the heartbeat again. We've managed to amass quite a few baby stuff already, mostly stuff that kindly friends and family have given us but some bought by us. It's still not feeling very real yet, I still can't get my head round the fact that I'm going to be a Mummy! I think I felt movement for the last few days but not 100% sure, it certainly didn't feel like the butterflies feeling that people have described to me. It felt more like a muscle twitch ? I have at times read but just not had time to post.

Hello to all the new ladies! After scanning through I've also noticed that whiteroses is also awol.

Have a good weekend everyone!

bunnygirl80 · 18/04/2010 00:24

hobnob good to see you! Sorry to hear you're still being sick-hopefully it'll pass soon. And it's nice that some people actually have enough of a life that they don't spend every waking moment on MN

chance sorry to hear that your MIL needs more surgery - I hope she recovers quickly. If I'm travelling anywhere by car, I tend to sit with my trousers unbuttoned until I get there and then do them up on arrival!

I'm taking DH to wine tasting today. I love wine so I'm a bit that I'll just have to watch. There is a chocolate tasting stand as well, so hopefully if I'm not feeling too sick I can spend some time there

Hermya321 · 18/04/2010 11:26

Hello fellow frolickers,

how are you all? I'm good, relaxing with family at the moment. Spent yesterday sunning myself and eating crisps, it was a very good day.

Spent twenty minutes in church this morning before giving up the game and coming home to have a nap, I'm still feeling a bit rubbishy and still really off my food. Did anyone else start to get really thirsty around about this point? Or start a bit of a brushing your teeth obsession? Those seem to be my new things.

Chance Apparently it's my nieces new thing to cry when someones says no to her, she did it again this morning when I took her bubbles off of her and said 'lets play with them later' (I'm not being mean, we were in Church and FIL had already told her not to open them). She cheered up again five minutes later. I showed that link to my MIL, she went quiet and said 'Do you like that?' to which I promptly burst out laughing. She looked ever so worried for a moment there.

Bunny You've sussed me out, I've already offered her a deal for the thing and am waiting with baited breath. Only hope that it won't affect LO too much if it's a boy.

Thanks Pixie! Hobnob Nice to hear you're getting on ok, I think Whiteroses is up in the Lakes at the moment on holiday.

Aly Sorry to hear your news, I hope you'll be back here soon.

Bunny Can you sneak me back some chocolate?

NovemberAli · 18/04/2010 14:28

So sorry to hear your news Aly, take care of yourself and really hope to see you back here soon.

Sorry to hear you?re MIL is not doing so well Chance, hope she recovers quickly from the op.

Glad to hear your scan went well Fudge, it?s amazing how well developed they are at 12 weeks isn?t it?

Loving the crib Hermya, very special! I notice she says the baby only slept in it 10 times, I wonder why? Blinded by the pinkness maybe?

Hoping all the sickness goes away soon for those still suffering.

I had my 20 week scan on Friday and managed to resist finding out the sex, so it?s going to be a surprise. Baby is right on target and everything looks good, it?s amazing how much detail they go into with it, I didn?t know they could pick out detail like the cerebellum and each chamber of the heart! Unfortunately my anterior placenta is also low lying so have to go back for a scan at 34 weeks to check if it?s moved, the majority do apparently otherwise it will be a caesarean for me!

mumnerves · 18/04/2010 21:07

aly Big hugs for you hun, I'm so sorry to hear your bad news. Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll be back really soon!

fulham congratulations!!! Lily is a beautiful name. Hope it all went well for you!

bunnygirl lol at your mum's comment! I'm just bemused that I'm carrying a tadpole-like foetus at the moment
I know exactly how you feel about clothes but considering it's still only 8mm I don't know where all the extra flab is coming from and am feeling a bit down as my trousers and jeans are all getting a bit tight. I'm also like you trying to resist buying maternity clothes. Did get a bargain today from a Next clearance store, got a pair of mat jeans for £4 and that's all I've gotten so far, except for new bras as I'm popping out of my current ones

Chance Sorry to hear about MIL Hope her operation goes well.

worrisome glad you're out of the first trimester horridness. I can't wait till I am. The blooming stage always sounds good!

Ozzie congrats on finding out you're having a boy! I'm sure your Dp is equally as pleased. My DH has said that it's got to be a boy or we'll take it back I don't think he knows what to do if it's a girl!

fudgecat I know exactly how you feel about outsiders finding out first. I had to go for my first midwife appt last week and my replacement was told why she was coming for a few hours to cover me and blurted out when she came back you're expecting aren't you??!! In front if everyone! WTF I'm only 6 weeks and even my mum doesn't know. I denied all knowledge but there is a particular collegue who is the nosey-est person and I'm sure she'll be looking out for signs now. It's been hard enough trying to not look like I want to throw up over everyone! ....also found out that anger and hormones are a bad bad thing together!!

Hermya lol at you and your niece, sounds like you'll be one of these mums where just 'the look' would suffice in stopping bad behaviour

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their sunday

chancewouldbeafinething · 19/04/2010 17:25

Hi All,

Have been trawling the internet for support tights...and came across some bargains at boots half price breast pumps www.boots.com/en/Philips-AVENT-Manual-Breast-Pump-with-Disposable-Breast-Pads_998927/ and sterilisers www.boots.com/en/Philips-AVENT-Microwave-Steam-Steriliser_33610/ just in case anyone is interested

Hiya Hobnob good to know you and bub are ok

bunny that is exactly what i did only problem I had was that when we went to see the grandparents we were sitting for so long i had to discretely undo my top button...must buy new trousers!

Hermya I was thinking of showing the link to MIL, but then i thought that its too mean to do that to a sick lady....maybe in a few months

november great news that everything on the scan looked good, sorry to hear about the placenta...but just think you get another scan You were very strong not to find out the sex!

mumsnerves good luck keeping the secret...deny deny deny is the best advice! How was the MW?

WorrisomeHeart · 19/04/2010 19:46

Hi all

Wow, what a fab weekend of sun!! So nice to start feeling summery again. We had a very busy weekend and consequently I am knackered (although to be honest, thats pretty much my natural state at the moment!). Went to check out the pram yesterday and it is fab. If any of you are still looking - I can recommend this (or at least recommend based on 30 min demo in shop!) Very exciting, I loved looking at the carrycot thinking about Mr Teeny snuggled up in there! We're going for the green option.

Aly so sorry to hear the sad end to your experience, but I'm sure we'll see you here again soon!

Hermya glad you had such a lovely day - at your MIL thinking you wanted that hideous crib!

fudge, hobnob and november great news about your scans!

pixie so fab to hear the baby's heartbeat - I have my 16 week check next week and am crossing my fingers that I'll get that opportunity too! Is it a standard check at this stage do you know?

bunny Hope the nausea ceased enough for you to try lots of choc!

mumnerves am at you being 'outed' by your colleague! I had a situation similar to that when I was 10 weeks when I was asked outright if I was pg by one of the guys I work with! It puts you in such a difficult position doesn't it - I felt really bad denying it but obv didn't want him to know at that stage!

chance so sorry to hear about your MIL, hope everything there is ok.

Trying4Baby1 · 19/04/2010 20:14

Hiya all, wow can't believe fulham beat me to it! I'm now 39 + 1 so hopefully not much longer to wait. Just trying to get stuff tidied up at the mo as the house is a tip but feeling really tired a lot of the time now.

Got all the baby stuff sorted now, or hope I do. I'll probably have forgotten something . Just finished packing my bag last week after getting moaned at by some of my friends. Starting to feel a bit nervous now, where as I wasn't bothered before. Don't know if that means anything. Also have a permenant shadow at the moment as the dog has taken to following me everywhere. Hopefully not much longer to wait although the reality that I'm going to be a mummy is starting to hit me.

mumnerves · 19/04/2010 20:36

Chance my mw is lovely. She really put me at ease as I was so nervous as was DH who also really liked her!

worrisome am liking the pram. It says up to 15kg so approx how old is that? I'm trying to resist looking at anything like this at least till after second scan (no sure how successful I'll be)

trying Good luck!! Is your dog a bitch? Just wondering if she is sensing it because of your hormones or if it's a male then maybe he's being protective? I think it's really sweet

Am alternating between either feeling sick and practically falling asleep at the moment. I have renewed respect for pregnant mums with toddlers! I really do feel like such a moaner and don't know how I would cope if I already had one. I also know I'm not having it that bad as I've not actually thrown up, so I really do feel bad for those of you who had really bad MS.
I've decided the sicky feeling is like a hangover so yesterday decided to try and pretend I'd been out all night....didn't work as the thought of alcohol just made me feel even worse

Have a nice week everyone!

mumnerves yes my dog is a bitch although spayed (don't know if that makes a difference). I had a stomach bug at the end of last week and she refused to leave my side just before that hit so she might be sensing that I'm getting close. Will just have to wait and see.

Wow it's been quiet here today.. hope you are all just having lovely days in the sun and nothing drastic is happening..

Trying so lovely to hear from you and how exciting that you're so close! V sweet about your dog too. Best of luck and keep us posted!

mumnerves the guy in the shop said 3 years - and to be honest I'm hoping that number 2 will have ousted Mr T from the Sola by that stage and we'll have a McLaren or something similar to supplement! Sorry you're not feeling great - it does get better, I promise!

Anyone else suffering from pregnancy insomnia? The last couple of nights I've woken up around 3ish and it's taken ages to get back to sleep - am consequently v tired! And if anyone say's 'it's practice' I shall be forced to drastic measures! My rationale is that if I'm not going to be sleeping when the baby arrives I sure as hell want to be sleeping now!!

Have a terrific Tuesday everyone!
