Thanks for the cake, Dibbydab. And Victoria sponge, too - my favourite .

I've even been poking my stomach a bit to see if I can feel my uterus . Turns out there's too much fat in the way .

neenz · 25/01/2010 15:00

It's lovely to read some good news . Congrats Blueberries and Soph.

Elusive, I am the same! But I have been more positive since realising that if you get to 12 wks with no bleeding then it is very very very unlikey that anything has gone wrong. So I am just hoping to get to next wed intact!

I was reading my Miscarriage book last night (great book by Lesley Regan), and it says if your last pg was successful you have only a 5% of MC. If it's your first pg you have a 5% chance of mc. If you had a mc last time the risk rises to 20% - but remember these are not MCs at 12wks, they include MCs much earlier, so the odds really really really are on our side at this stage!

I have spent much of today in tears. The twins (21mo) have been quite difficult this morn, DD seems to be battling with me over every little thing - bibs, food, shoes, clothes - and I am trying not to give into her, but I am so tired. Then my Tesco shop turned up and somehow there was yogurt dripped on a lot of the itmes, and the thought of having to wipe it all up and then put all the shopping away just made me cry! Then I thought the twins are just getting to the terrible twos and I am having another baby! What an idiot . Feel better now after a good cry though

Chulita · 25/01/2010 15:08

Aw neenz, [hugs] I cry so much when pregnant just about normal things...terrible 2's are a whole different kettle of fish!
I can feel my uterus if I dig around in the post-DD spare tyre that's disgusting protecting Finlet. I almost bid on a pram yesterday and then got paranoid and thought I'd better wait til the 20 wk scan just to be safe [rolls eyes]
I wondered how you were bewler, hope the scan goes well!
And well done to all scanees

tah2 · 25/01/2010 15:13

Just checking in to say my scan went well today. The baby was lying on one of my arteries so the pulse made the baby bounce around like he/she was on a trampoline - very cute and very funny!!!

chulita those pj's are gorgeous - may have to treat myself now i know things are looking well.

Congrats to sophable and blueberries on their scan, plus any other ladies who have had a good result in their scans today!

Right, im off to have some yummy home made apple pie

Dibbydab · 25/01/2010 15:18

All those scanning this week, you have the positive thoughts of all the August ladies with you, when you get that scan pic it really is the best feeling and all the worry goes for at least ooooooh a couple of hours...

Ooh, are we sharing cakes and ice-cream? This is my kind of thread Just had a midwife on the phone reassuring me that my bean won't have been affected by the V&D and not to worry. Phew!

And thanks for the positive stats Neenz. It's very easy to get frightened, especially in the first trimester. Must think positive.

mrsZaC · 25/01/2010 16:03

mmmmm kaylo not you've got me going too... totally thinking about making apple pie tonight... I know DH would LOVE to come home to that tomorrow night...mmmmm

just want to say, that miscarriages after 10 weeks are not common! for those that are scared first time preg, if you've got as far as 12 weeks you are highly likely to be fine!

awful awful awful for those that aren't, but I think that you can read things on mn and think that they are the norm...i know i have been and do.

for a first pregnancy your likelihood of miscarrying after 10 weeks is about 5% and after 12 week scan 1%. still horrendous tragedies behind those tiny stats, but really really important to remember that for the vast majority all will be well...bewler and anyone feeling like her, please remember that!

popAwheelie · 26/01/2010 13:59

Yay! bigmuther! that's made me v happy. Get well soon.

I don't know about the rest of you but it's sooo hard to think about work at the moment. What an inconvienience.

I had some friends over on Saturday- both who have little babies. They were recommending that as well as oiling the belly, boobs, thighs daily, that I also start oiling ahem..., the perineum. One felt that this massaging and oiling helped her to avoid any tearing during birth. Better invest in more baby oil!

Rubena I'm finding it a wee bit hard (as it's my first) being so far from my family and am hanging out for a Xmas in the NZ sun with them & the baby in 12 months time! Know what you mean about parents and their agendas- hope your mum makes it over.
