The scan im having on tuesday isnt my 12 week scan. Thats been booked for the 16th feb. This scan is strictly a reasurance scan since it will be past when i normally M/C.

Today is gonna be a busy day. My mum is moving 300 miles away so thats me on my own really. Just hope she comes down when the babies are born

popAwheelie · 23/01/2010 09:33

Hello everyone. Sorry to hear about your loss liah take care.

I am 14 weeks today. I had my scan a week ago and it went very well- baby was waving and kicking legs. Was great to see. My hospital- in east London is fantastic. We've enjoyed telling our friends post - scan, though it's been a little overwhelming as well- somehow makes everything very real! One thing that has slightly annoyed me is when people say: was it planned? I probably shouldn't find it annoying but for some reason I do.

My DPs parents Now seem more excited than they did. Hurrah! Caution is sensible before the 12 week mark but also seems a little pessimistic too.

The names we like are:
boy: Albert (Bert), Cass, Noah, Luca
girl: Sabine, Hannah, Rosa, Peta, Edie

Starting to think about babies bedroom (shelves up, paint, curtains, should we get a cot?) and DP is obsessed with buggies. Anything that has wheels is important right!? At this rate it will cost more than both of our bikes put together.

Kaylo I'm also feeling fluttery feelings but perhaps it's
the sack ? I dunno.

Restful weekends!

Dibbydab · 23/01/2010 10:01

So sorry for your loss Liaghen I was convinced that as we were all moving further towards our due dates the losses would stop. Big hugs for you .

I know what you mean BlueBerries, have been on this journey with a lot of you girls since the beginning and it's heartbreaking.

The bad news isn't diminished because it's someone we don't "know" in real life - we all share the common link that we're trying to be mums and we all feel it when another mum's dream is cruelly taken away from them.

Any news Kaylo?

x

vix206 · 23/01/2010 10:02

Hi everyone, just a little positive news from me. My Angelsounds doppler arrived this morning and within 15 mins we found a very strong fetal heartbeat just left of centre above my pubic bone. Very relieved

babyducky · 23/01/2010 10:55

hi everyone,

great names pop
Glad your scan went well too

Really hope yours went ok kaylo, let us know

My doppler arrived this morning aswell, will have a try later when dh gets home from work.
I'm only 10 weeks though so not getting my hopes up too much!
How many weeks are you vix206?

vix206 · 23/01/2010 10:55

babyducky I'm 9 weeks 6 days

Alicetheinvisible · 23/01/2010 11:04

Morning

Liah so sorry.

I have my appointment for the obstetrician on 2nd March, and a Nuchal scan on the 5th feb. I haven't heard from the midwives yet though, and i didn't have a nuchal scan last time, they have just booked me in for one. Is that normal?

babyducky · 23/01/2010 11:08

oooh really vix maybe we will hear something then, hope so

vix206 · 23/01/2010 11:25

babyducky it took a while and I really didn't expect to find it. Had to press quite hard, I calculated the beat to be 168 beats per minute. It was just the best sound in the world, I have been worried because I have basically lost almost all of my symptoms now except for the strong hunger/nausea when I don't eat every couple of hours. My boobs aren't tender anymore and I don't feel THAT tired, so I was concerned. Especially with all that has happened on here - it made me so worried. Let us know how you get on later.

sam86 · 23/01/2010 12:27

hi all, really sorry to hear bad news, hope you are keeping ok Lia.
think I might get a doppler now too if all goes well at my scan on Monday, fingers crossed.
DD had her heart scan yday and had some good news from that- the valve looks thicker and the holes are smaller than last year (although he said theres two now and there was only one last year, but theyr smaller at least).
so happy for everyone whose had good news from their scans and fingers crossed for everyone over the coming weeks. DH doesnt think I should read the thread until after the scan as i am getting so worried, but I still want to keep up with everyone. Hope everyone is ok, xx

cakeywakey · 23/01/2010 14:36

Liah, so sorry and take care Kaylo, are you about? Hope your scan went well.

Congratulations to all your ladies with positive scans and doppler readings

I still don't have a scan date and am getting a bit foot-tappy waiting for it. Off to see the hospital midwife on Friday so hope that I can chase it up while I'm there if it hasn't come through by that point.

bouncingblueberries · 23/01/2010 15:17

Had my booking in appointment with the midwife yesterday but came away feeling a bit weird. She decided to try and find the baby's heartbeat, which I thought was a bit given that I'm only 12 weeks and carrying a bit of a jelly belly left-over from ds1. Also, we were disturbed about every 5 seconds by other midwives and various members of staff, and she had hardly any doppler gel left, so not only could she not concentrate on finding the heartbeat, she ended up giving up after about 2 minutes.

I know the likelihood of finding a heartbeat with a doppler at 12 weeks is slim, especially if you;re not so slim, but I really wish she hadn't even bothered. I didn't think it was possible to be any more terrified about my scan on MOnday, but I am.

It's such a miserable grey day outside as well. I need some cheering up.

Doodleydoo · 23/01/2010 15:17

hi ladies, is everyone ok today?

kmac80 · 23/01/2010 15:24

Hi everyone,
I noticed this thread and thought I'd join in for the ride. I am due 17th August (though was on the pill at the time so the dates could be skewed..) Nearly on to the 2nd trimester and dearly hoping that the seedy drank too many tequilas feeling will go soon. Anyone experienced the pain in the arse that is sciatica??

NichyNoo · 23/01/2010 16:00

So sorry to hear your news liah - I've said it before and I'll say it again - I am truly shocked at how many ladies have had to leave this thread. I had no idea the risks were so high

Starting to get worried about kaylo as she hasn't updated us yet on her scan....

I am (hopefully) 12 weeks today!!!! My scan on 11+3 was perfect but that hasn't stopped the worry as I'm fully aware that I have no idea what is going on inside my body and have no control over what happens.

Have just booked a weekend away to Berlin for when I should be 15 weeks. It is for DH's 30th birthday which was actually last weekend (3 days before the scan) but we were both too nervous to even think about enjoying a weekend away at that stage

Good luck to all those with scans coming up this week.....

bouncingblueberries · 23/01/2010 16:22

nichynoo I'm worried about kaylo too - hope she's too busy celebrating some good news

girlsyearapart · 23/01/2010 16:31

blueberries try not to read too much into it. My midwife completely refused to even try listening to the heartbeat at 12w saying it was far too early.

DH was pleased as he didn't want me to try to listen as it would stress me out even more if she couldn't hear it. Not long now until the scan then you'll know.

nichy enjoy your weekend.

I am off to Champneys tomorrow for two nights. Cannot wait - some sleep at last the dds have been sleeping v badly recently..

Chulita · 23/01/2010 18:10

@ Champneys, grr! Hope you have a lovely time and get home totally relaxed!
Welcome kmac!

vix206 · 23/01/2010 18:52

Yes I was very surprised to be able to pick up the heartbeat, but I am very skinny which is supposed to help, and I guess just lucky. Plus there is a question mark over whether I am in fact 14 weeks rather than 10 - have to wait until scan to find out - still no date confirmed for that. So don't worry blueberries, I'm sure everything is just fine it is apparently really difficult to find the heartbeat this early.

Wish Kaylo would let us know how she got on, I hope all is well

KayloHalo · 23/01/2010 19:23

Hello everyone - I'm sorry I haven't updated sooner - scan took longer than anyone ever thought and I didn't make it back to work in time to update you all.

First of all I would like offer condolences to Lia I'm truly so sorry honey.

Seems a little inappropriate to celebrate my scan now - I feel so bad for Lia.
Here goes:- we arrived at 3:30 and went in straight away babys heart beating away (thank goodness) but baby was asleep!! In an awkward position as well so sonographer said after 20mins of prodding and shaking said go for a wee walk around and wake it up. So I did and had some chocolate to see if I could energise it that way, went back in to scan room at 4:15 and baby was awake and wriggly but still with it's back to us so she had to prod me again. Twas fun, we eventually completed the nuchal at 5pm!! Which was nice and thin so looks normal. So we have re-nicknamed our baby - LazyBum And they say I'm about 13+5 days as well need to wait for official results through post tho for my new due date.

I haven't read all the posts (I promise to tho) I just thought you'd waited long enough for the result!! The reason it's so late today is because my silly dh has a work party tonight and needed a new suit. Didn't tell e until yesterday at the hospital so we've been chasing our tails today trying to find hi a nice one. Eventually got one from a massive Asda supercentre in Pudsey - and also bought me some maternity clothes and a baby shawl love baby shopping!!

So there you have it.

Oh, have updated list as well with my scan result and have sadly taken Lia off

Great news Kaylo! That's lovely to hear

I had another go with the doppler today (10+6) but couldn't hear anything, but feel ok about that cos if MWs aren't confident of getting it before 14wks then how am I supposed to? I will try to stay away from it for another week and try at 12w, but it would be nice to hear something before the 12w scan (Feb 3) so I won't be shitting myself so much.

I have had two naps today so think I am still pregnant

bigmuther65 · 23/01/2010 20:14

Thats great news Kaylo

I have been bleeding quite alot today having to wear sanitary pads,no pain though and i have had bleeding in this pregnancy, but never as much as this. But on the other hand my sickness is as bad if not worse than it has ever been.

Heathcliffscathy · 23/01/2010 20:21

went to epu as was really worried...had scan...all well! baby kicking around and instead of 11 weeks today i'm 11w6d....so new due date is 8th august!

morning all have updated the list with my ammended due date.

Glad to hear all well kaylo

Taking the dds swimming this morning then am off duty till Tuesday avo. Brief struggle with thinking I shouldn't be so happy to get time on my own soon outweighed by the fact that dd2 has woken me up every night for the past 3 weeks..

nichy just seen you're in Brussels. I lived there for ten years.
