Doodleydoo · 22/01/2010 10:12

Liaghen - where are you going for one, as typically don't have a date and am getting a little worried - just want a little reassurance!!!!

Doodleydoo · 22/01/2010 10:20

URGH - just phoned up the scanning dept, they haven't even got to my request form yet - therefore no date, have told me I have to wait for the letter.........Uhm yes because we have had post recently . Really angry already as at St George's where had dd they were great and really helpful, move away and get miserable cow who will book it on the day I can't go and will then refuse to give me another appointment. So if I can't do it I just won't go!!!!

liahgenisuptheduff · 22/01/2010 10:21

here doodley

Have been to them before, (sadly less exciting circumstances) and they are lovely. Not that expensive either. I called this morning and have appt for half 12.

Have you tried chasing hospital for your scan date, best is 12 wks and 5 days for nuchal

Doodleydoo · 22/01/2010 10:21

Sorry, am grumpy because just feel like it is all such a frigging hassle for everyone else.....so where can I get a private one done to rest my own mind?

liahgenisuptheduff · 22/01/2010 10:22

ah cross post. Thats crap. How many wks you now?

Dibbydab · 22/01/2010 10:23

Hello Girls,

I am

Scan was brilliant yesterday - good strong heartbeat and Kip is a real wriggler. Baby didn't like the sonographer pressing down at all and was trying to move out of the way all the time - completely amazing.

DH was in awe, I think it's finally become real for him (he wants to start decorating Kip's room this weekend...)

I've uploaded the photo, but it's not too clear - the copy we have you can actually see a little button nose, lips and eyes - WOW!

I got my blood tests at the same time they did the Nuchal scan and my Down's risk went from 1:430 to 1:8600 so although I may still be the 1 it's less likely.

Good luck to KayloHalo and everyone else scanning today/tomorrow.

I feel so much better now (mentally), though still throwing up like a good 'un, can't have it all I suppose.

Have updated the list with "12 week scan fine"

fab picture Dibby

neenz · 22/01/2010 10:59

That's great news Dibby!

I got my doppler and I heard a hb but it was a little slow, only about 115 when the normal range is 120-160. I have to count the hb myself though cos the doppler doesn't have it on a screen, so it's possible I haven't counted right or that it doesn't matter anyway [hopes]. I only heard on hb though thankfully!

neenz · 22/01/2010 11:00

sorry, one hb!

NichyNoo · 22/01/2010 11:34

Dibby - I'm so pleased for you! DH has seen me logging onto the laptop constantly to check for updates and didnt understand when I told him I was impatiently waiting to hear scan news from a woman I've never met

I'm 11+6 today - feel a lot more relaxed after my positive scan although I know a few people who have miscarried at 12 and 13 weeks so am not fully relaxed.

I've update the list as my due date changed slightly following my scan. Am now due on 7th Aug.

Huuuge congrats on scan results dibby and nichy Such a cutie picture!!!

Not long til mine . have my pint of juice ready, now thats gonna go well with nausea!! getting so nervous now. Also worried that I'm gonna be late because I'm not leaving work til 2:30 due to a meeting I have to attend. Then I have to dash up the motorway (only 2 jcts but still) to pick up dh where he will then take over to get us to PGI!!
On a less stressful note - I wonder if my due date wil change? Again

lia has her scan soon - GOOD LUCK LIA!!!!

xxxxx

Soooo nervous!!!!

neenz · 22/01/2010 12:21

Good luck Kaylo, I asm sure everything will go fine.

I thought I heard a hb earlier but had another listen and I think the hb is mine . I am kind of glad cos 115 is quite low. I would rather hear no hb (which is normal at this stage) than an abnormal one! Might try again later - any tips from others who have managed it?

I can also now hear the hb in two/three places so I hope it is mine lol!!

Dibbydab · 22/01/2010 12:37

Kaylo I drank 2 pints of water before we left the house, then had another 3 cups at the hospital as I didn't feel like I needed the loo - biggggggg mistake - was 30 minutes late in being called in for scan - was busting by the time I got in and the sonographer asked me to go and empty at least half of my bladder as it was so full she couldn't see the baby properly

Trying to persuade myself not to get a doppler - what with listening to that and being on Mumsnet I'd never get anything done.

NichyNoo · 22/01/2010 12:40

It's interesting that you guys were told to have a full bladder - I was told to just be normal and not do anything special. When the doctor started to try and scan the baby my bladder (which only had a glass of water in it from about 1 hour before) was too full so I was told to go and pee!

bigmuther65 · 22/01/2010 12:46

Cute picture Dibby great to have such good news as this tread has lost so many recently.Good luck Kaylo for today.
Have my scan booked for the 1st feb not to long to wait.Just a little rant coming up,told a few people about my pregnancy and have had comments of are you trying for a girl as i already have 2 ds,s,after all the crap of trying to get wear i am today i will just be grateful for a healthy baby to hold at the end of this boy or girl.. rant over and breath.
Really need to get to the shops today as have nearly eat everything in sight ,all so a little confession, thought i was being smart when i saw easter eggs in shop thought start buying early. Well eat a rolo egg in record time last night.

vix206 · 22/01/2010 13:09

neenz I read about dopplers the other night (I'm trying not to get one because I would get OCD about it I fear) and apparently you can hear your own heartbeat in several places but especially in the placenta. I'm sure you know this but apparently the sound you are listening for should sound like galloping horses or a fast train. Hope that helps! Let us know if you manage to find it, I know midwives don't like doing it before around 15 weeks because it can be so hard to find.

mrsZaC · 22/01/2010 14:13

yey what a happy looking day!

I'm feeling better today but still not tip top (probably cuz I'm back at work) heart palpitations are driving me nuts just now, keep threatning to go to the doctor to make sure it's normal but not managed yet as they NEVER have a free appointment when you need one.

Good luck lia and Kaylo for your scans today

Congratulations Nichy and dibby what a gorgeous pic

vix206 · 22/01/2010 14:21

mrsZaC I've been having them too, mostly at night when I am in bed.

I am so weak, I've just ordered an AngelSounds doppler from eBay.... ;)

girlsyearapart · 22/01/2010 14:35

All good

Baby due on August 4th which puts me at 12+2.

Even though I drank loads and needed a wee the sonographer said I had an empty bladder and needed to drink earlier next time.

Anyway will update list later gotta go pick up the dds

Think I'll float there on my cloud of relief!

ElusiveMoose · 22/01/2010 14:45

girlsyearapart, that's fantastic news . So happy to see another positive scan. It's so weird about the bladder thing, isn't it? Last time round I had my scan done privately, and they said there was no need to drink water before it. This time it's an NHS scan, and they haven't said anything at all.

Had a rubbish day yesterday. Car went in for its MOT and failed because the indicator bulb had gone. No problem, methinks, but because the indicator is on the wing mirror, they have to take the whole bloody door off to replace it . The garage I'd taken it to couldn't do it, so it had to go into VW today to have the repair done, at a cost of over a hundred quid!!! AND we had to have the shower replaced yesterday, so all in all it was a bloody expensive day (though I can't tell you the relief of having a working shower after 3 months without one ).

And I'm just SOOOO tired at the moment. 12 weeks tomorrow - when is my energy supposed to come back??

Sorry for grumpy post on such an otherwise happy day. I just need to keep focusing on the leftover banoffee pie in the fridge that I've got earmarked for pudding tonight....
