So, anyone else worried about telling work? I was self-employed for 2 years and only went back to being an employee in June 2009. So a bit nervous about telling work!

However, found out today that the wife of one of my directors is pregnant (due early July) so hoping this will pave the way somewhat for my news. What do you reckon? We're a really small company (although very successful). I guess it's "buyer beware" when you employee women of childbearing age

gosh, just made myself all nervous about it again. eek.

Hello, got a call from hospital today to confirm booking in appointment this Friday, with scan at 12 weeks.

Still feeling pants, and gagging at fish.

THis may be TMI but my poops seem very small for the huge amount I'm eating. I think baby must be making very good use of all the food as very little waste for the past few weeks!

I dumped the multivits at the start of this week, I was taking them in the evening with dinner and was feeling very sick the next day. telltale sign for me was the terrible taste in my mouth the next day, and a kind of furry coating on my tongue Not good.

So stopped taking them and now just taking Folic Acid on its own plus one B6 per day as that is meant to combat sickness.

Still queasy but much better. May go back onto Pregnacare once sickness is over and done with...

Aussieng · 04/01/2010 21:05

LOL at small poops. I haven' "been" for 4 days now. Very bloaty and constipated. Don't want to think about how much extra weight I would have lost if anything solid was actually coming out of me!!!!! I really need to start enjoying this pregnancy but feeling soooo sick right now. DH is working late and has no chance of me making him any dinner and I WANT MY SCAN DATE NOW. I'm nearly 11 weeks FFS.

*Bouncingblueberries" I'm dreading telling work. I have one colleague currently on 12m adoption leave, another going on mat leave in May whose jobs I have been earmarked for leaving my (very female dominated) department running at 2 people of manager level (me being one). Two of the alternate partners are pregnant (both after fertility treatment) and the other manager in my dept called me up today asking if I had any holiday plans for July\Aug as she wants to go on an extended 1 month vacation. Dreading telling my boss does not come close to describing how I am feeling. Does not help that I know she would have loved a second DC but never managed to have one. And I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and tell her this week before my scan since I can't let my colleague book that holiday without saying something. AAAAAAAAAAARGH! What's the lotterly jackpot this week>

santaschristmascakeywakey · 04/01/2010 21:10

I took Pregnacare for my last pregnancy and am taking it this time round again. I had no sickness (or any other pregancy symptoms for ages!) last time round. This time though, I'm feeling nauseous at all different times of the day, have sore boobs and already having bonkers dreams. Just one of those things I suppose. Every pregnancy really is different.

I'm also starting the day off feeling pretty svelte, but am ending it quite bloated. I just keep telling people that I've eaten too much over Christmas .

Am off to see my GP this week to get the antenatal ball rolling. Hoping I don't have to wait too long for a scan. Will have one done privately if the dates are a very long way off though - had one last time as I previously miscarried and was worrying myself silly.

acatcalledfidget · 04/01/2010 21:14

Aussieng....i'm feeling identical to you....i really want to start enjoying this too but my body seems to have other ideas. AND if one more friend dismisses my crap feelingness/constant sickness by telling me how they in fact had it much worse as they nearly died whilst pregnant or that their insides turned purple and they gave birth to a giraffe {obviously exaggerating here - but you get the idea} i shall scream, then puke on them. humpf.

santaschristmascakeywakey · 04/01/2010 21:28

Yeah, puke on their shoes acatcalledfidget. That'll learn em

acatcalledfidget · 04/01/2010 21:32

hee hee

mayte · 04/01/2010 21:59

Hello all...im 7 weeks baby due 14 August and feeling awful. This is my third child with an eight year age gap...im feeling lonely and my partner said to me this eving "sort yourelf out" as i`m struggling with work, homwlife and study....i need some girlie chats,,,xxx

acatcalledfidget · 04/01/2010 22:04

git, puke on his shoes!

Aussieng · 04/01/2010 22:29

Aww Fidget you have my sympathies. Not sure which is worse - that lot or the "oh I breezed through my pregnancy with nary a symptom other than my extra lustrous hair" brigade... grrrrrrrr

Mayte that's awful. Knob. Was he just having an off moment or he is generally so lovely and supportive>

I think that pregnant women should be given at leat 3 weeks off work from weeks 7 -10 if feeling unwell. Working in the run up to Xmas was the hardest thing I have ever had to do and I'm a veteran of 50 hour straight "shifts". Take care of yourself and feel free to vent here.

Aussieng · 04/01/2010 22:32

PS - sorry did not mean to discount those of you who are worrying about lack of symptoms. I know that is stressful for some of you. Just imagine how smug you will be when it is all over and you are part of the breezing on through with lustrous hair brigade though

isheisnthe · 05/01/2010 08:33

I am in a quandry! I told my doctors receptionist that I had moved (all be it 4 miles) when I went to see him, and I have got a letter saying I am outside their "list" range now and need to move practice - I don't want to!!!

I am nearly 8 wks PG, I want to go and book in proper and get my scan date rolling - do you think I can?

Chulita · 05/01/2010 08:37

I've ditched pregnacare and folic acid because they both make my nausea 20 times worse. I did take folic acid for ages before getting pregnant so I'm hoping that'll see the little one through. I can't cope with throwing up more than twice a day...
mayte - come and blither with us!

Boos75 · 05/01/2010 08:47

Sorry to have harped on about my lack of sickness when some of you are going through a really tough time. I know the grass is always greener and I'm sure when my sickness does come it'll serve me right for wanting it!

littlemiss72 · 05/01/2010 08:50

Morning Ladies,

I'm still taking the tablets and haven't really noticed any sign of sickness although that said last night I felt awful, bloated, sleepy and generally out of salts.

If DP rings me one more time and says 'how you feeling' I might just scream!

Not sure about the doctors thing isheinthe I would try again and see what the response is.

I'm feeling really worried this morning, how will I cope - what if I'm not cut out for this.. blimey, my minds all over the place! Not told anyone but my very close friend at work who is also TTC I'm hoping she'll be following me shortly.

Is anyone else freaking out?

More snow on the way woohoo! Have a good day all. x

bouncingblueberries · 05/01/2010 08:53

Morning girls

Ausieng oh no! that sounds like quite a situation! Is your work normally quite family friendly? I'm holding on to the hope that they MUST have considered the chances of having to pay me maternity pay when they hired me. Both male directors have young family and the female director is a mum herself, so it must have crossed their minds. Maybe just not so soon . Trouble is, apart from the directors, there are only 2 other permanent members of staff and I'm one of them. Och well, they'll just have to get some freelancers in. Might ask my friend for some advice - she's a senior HR manager type person. Lucky cow was tasked with rewriting her company's maternity policy and told to make it as attractive as possible. Just as it was approved, she fell pregnant, promptly followed by her director!

Had such a panic last night - thought my mum had announced to the world via facebook that I was pregnant. Thankfully it was a private message just to me rather than a wall post as I originally thought! Would have solved the problem of telling my bosses though

Hope everyone has a good day. I've just finished inhaling a Pret hot chocolate and croissant Should keep me going for a couple of hours!

bouncingblueberries · 05/01/2010 08:59

littlemiss I had a minor freak out about how we'll cope at the weekend. ds is very much a mummy's boy and although he's desperate for a little brother or sister to love, I'm worried how he'll feel about the reality of not having my complete attention (pfb syndrome, I know!).

But the thing is, we will cope. For one thing, I didn't know about these wonderful support threads when I had ds. I knew about MN but just used the product recommendations and what to pack in your hospital bag lists and such. But this time, I'll know where to come at 3am when the baby is going through a growth spurt and refuses to stop feeding!

You'll find your own way of coping. For me, it was giant bars of Dairy Milk, my NCT girls and retail therapy! This time, I'm going to limit the Dairy Milk!

bouncingblueberries · 05/01/2010 08:59

Don't worry Boos that's what this thread is for

Doodleydoo · 05/01/2010 09:52

Hi Ladies can I join in? Am approx 17th August from my dates. How do I join?

BigMomma3 · 05/01/2010 10:23

Happy New Year all!

Well my due date has now changed to 22nd July according to my midwife. Had my booking in appointment on Sun (she was here for almost 3 hours!) and we heard the fetal heartbeat through the hand held doppler which was amazing as she thought she would'nt find it (sure my roll of fat would'nt help) and it was very loud. As I was only 10+3 she has said that I may be even further on than that as it was so clear. Will find out at dating scan on Thursday (with Nuchal). Will also do all the blood tests and will be interested to see whether I am anaemic as I have been feeling very breathless more or less since I found out I was pregnant - anyone else had this??

I am really showing now. Look like 5 months rather than under 3 although midwife did say this could be because my uterus is so stretchy what with having twins last time.

Still feel pukey and thinking that carbs are not helping as I crave them but then feel tens times worse after eating them so have been making a conscious effort to eat more salads which I do really love but can't be arsed to prepare! Thing that's really annoying is the sour milk taste in my mouth. It's there constantly. I try to suck mints all day but as soon as I stop it's there again. Also (tmi alert!) terrible farts and constipation . Now I must say that my lady farts are normally silent and don't smell but now they are so rank, even the cat's running away in fright !

LilyPad72 · 05/01/2010 10:24

Hello - can I join, too? My date is 30th August, and this will be a much awaited DC number 1. Had an 'early scan' yesterday, as previously had fibroids and potentially a blocked tube and wanted to check not ectopic - and Woo Hoo! NOT ectopic - all present and correct in the right place! Relief is huge - can start believing it's real now!
But - apparently - the little bean is only 5.2mm, and I read somewhere should be 10mm by week 6? How much should I freak out about this?
Am also taking Pregnacare, but take it in the evening. Feel a little queasy in the morning, but not too bad.

bouncingblueberries · 05/01/2010 10:40

bigmomma - talk of lady farts did make me laugh! All dignity flies out the window when you're pregnant!
