Apuski my ds has conjunctivitis too. Rotten isn't it. He's the world's worst with drops too, have to pin him down it's awful. But I caught it early and it seems to be clearing well.

Violet 2 out of 3 times I've had a scan my LO has been facing down! The third scan he (gut feeling) flipped over quickly but the second he scan took ages to flip over. He's obviously very comfy like that!

Looking in my fridge just now reminded me of all the lovely cheeses I can't eat at Christmas. Boo hoo. Should have made everyone else suffer so I don't have to watch them, lol. Got a family member staying next 2 nights and the house is upside down, I feel so unorganised it's awful

tsc treat yourself to that wine one won't hurt

Albrecht · 23/12/2009 19:42

Our lo was moving around loads at the scan - flipping over onto tummy and back again, kicking arms and legs. I'm sure they move around a fair amount as they have loads of room! You just don't usually feel it till later.

WhatSheSaid · 23/12/2009 19:56

Tsc I'v been having the odd swig of Dh's beer and I'll probably have a glass of wine on Christmas Day. I don't think a bit of alcohol hurts though of course the official advice here is NONE.

Re the food safety guidelines, they vary from country to country so I don't take them completely to heart - e.g here in NZ we are told not to eat quite a lot of food that I think is considered OK in the UK. Looking at my list, I'm not meant to eat any cold meats (ham, chicken etc), no seafood unless steaming hot (so no smoked salmon etc), no ready-made salads, no cakes with cream or custard in...the list goes on and on. I have been eating some ham and cold meats, which I know are fresh and have been stored properly in my fridge.

I've been pretty much living off jelly, apples, ice lollies and caffeine-free Coke anyway, so have been avoiding lots of food just through feeling too shit to eat. I've been cutting down on my caffeine a bit but I love tea so much and have quite a few cups a day.

kkfairybrains · 23/12/2009 21:50

stac im 12 weeks 5 days.exactly the same as my own dates.and im living in cavan.
yeah no1 can believe how clear the scan is and i got a 3d one aswell and didnt know i was getting it he just done it with the other one and its amazing lookin at it its just like a photo of a baby.can see its legs and feet and big belly really clear!
laughing at tsc! im sticking to coors light whenever i do have anything! manys a night i would have got through 2 bottles of wine but thats all in the past and im imagining itl'l be a long time again before i do anything like that! started telling people 2day and any1 i'v told is so excited it just all seems so real now!.we were looking at the pics a while ago and we'r just overwhelmed that its actually our baby we'r looking at! all my friends are referring to it as OUR baby 2 so itl have plenty of aunties and uncles! evrybody going out 2nite and im just finished work and dont know whether to join them or just get into pj's!

violetbubbles · 24/12/2009 07:00

Thanks for the advice and information TishTosh21, WinterMadness and Albrecht - you've put my mind at rest . I have all of my scan photos in front of me right now. Still can't quite believe there's a LO in there! Although I'm reminded every two hours when a wave of nausea hits! .

My MW yesterday said I had to abstain from ALL alcohol but I believe that we're all intelligent and mature enough to decide for ourselves whether we should have a glass of champagne or two over the festive season. I'm looking forward to a cheeky wee Kahlua and milk this evening - I think I deserve it! .

Good luck to everyone going for scans today! xxx

WinterMadness · 24/12/2009 07:20

When I was pregnant with ds the advise was no alcohol. When I was 8 months pregnant it reverted back to the previos advice of one or two units once or twice a week (dept of health) but they obviuosly try to promote no drinkng where possible. I reckon so long as you're sensible there's no harm so that's what I'll do.

Btw - had my first 'vivid' (rude) dream last night!!!! I was mortified when so woke up!!!!! Still blushing, lol.

Anyone having a scan today - Enjoy!

kittykat77 · 24/12/2009 08:17

Stac yes DS is under the weather, he is full of cold, hoping it gets a little better before xmas! We were supposed to be not telling many people, but somehow there are rather alot of peeps that seem to know now! Mainly just my work that don't know yet! And MS I am still getting that too, although not quite as bad now. Coz we went out for dinner last night and didn't eat until about 9pm, when I finally did get to bed I couldn't get to sleep for feeling sick! Guess it was coz we ate later.

So quick question for those who are having no.3 (or more!) anyone getting p*ssed off with people coming out with very irritating comments like 'what another one?' or 'was it planned?' Think those are a couple of the most choice phrases to date. Why do some people look at you like you are completely crazy to want more than 2 kids? And we are only on no. 3 ffs. It's not like we have 10 or something...Grrr. Rant over for the day.

TishTosh21 · 24/12/2009 08:45

haha winter I had a rude dream last night too, what made it more bizarre is that it was with a girl i used to know from school! I woke up like what the...it was so so vivid!

beckyg123 · 24/12/2009 14:36

Can't believe its Christmas tomorrow

Just been for a MacDonalds with girls from work - the first time i have eaten one guilt free since i was 14!!! I do feel a bit bloated and windy now tho!

Hope everyone is looking forward to tomorrow! I'm a bit overwhelmed with how much i have to do tonight when i get in from work! oh dear... I just feel like crawling under the covers!
Any tips on how to get some energy... without alcohol or proplus???

I don't think i'll bother to drink at all, i really don't miss it and i'm not great at just having 1! I actually think it would make me sick just now.

I'm also very lucky in that i hate cheese, eggs and pate! The one thing i will miss this Christmas are prawns! I love them and always have prawn cocktail to start! I never even realised i couldn't have them until my mum told me in a horrified voice "you can't have prawns!" Oh well... melon it is!

Not sure if i'll get online tomorrow so hope you all have a lovely day and all the outlaws behave themselves!

Merry Christmas

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/12/2009 14:50

Hello ladies!

Sneaking on here while South Pacific entertains the masses to catch up on scan news! So pleased everyone's scans are going well I look huge today but that may be something to do with being constipated for 5 days again aaargh!! I think after christmas I'll be asking the gp for lactulose. We had a massive chinese last night and with a massive dinner tomorrow I may well actually pop.

are we really not allowed prawns? I can't undertstand why you can have them cooked and hot but not cooked and cold? Am I being really thick? I'm also eating runny eggs, they were the only thing I could stomach when I had ms. I had a teeny glass of champagne last night for dh's birthday and it was lush. Planning on glass of red tomorrow with dinner and to last me the afternoon - we've blown nearly £40 on a nice bottle as my christmas treat! Tell you what I will miss: glass of sherry when cooking the roast Can I risk a snifter of it do you think? Also missing pate in a big way.

Right, I'm going to attempt a nap now (got another head cold and feel quite tired today) so going to give the laptop to dd to entertain herself. Bad mummy! Outlaws and dh have gone out for a walk. DD had a tantrum at the top of the road so they helpfully brought her back. THANKS.

Merry christmas ladies! Hope we all have a lovely (non pukey) day! x

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/12/2009 14:51

becky Lucozade. It's keepin me upright at the mo

beckyg123 · 24/12/2009 14:57

Ohhh wwsw thank you! will get some on way home! any particular one or will any do the trick?
Had thought we would get away early today but it looks like 5pm as usual!

beckyg123 · 24/12/2009 15:09

Nope - just looked at food standards agency site and prawns are only ok if hot! I WANT COLD ONES!!!!

WinterMadness · 24/12/2009 16:01

Becky everything I have been given says you can eat prawns as long as they've been thoroughly cooked. That doesn't mean they have to be hot, just cooked, i.e. not raw. Midwife said to me just don't take any silly risks, for example don't eat them if they've been in the sun on the seafront fish-stall all day, but if you trust the source they've come from you'll be fine. I'm certainly eating them anyway!

Feel marginally more organised now. Still got loads to do but getting there. Wondering why I offered to cook now and why I said family member could sleep tonight & tomorrow...must have been mad.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas Eve x

Firerise · 24/12/2009 16:51

Merry Christmas everyone! I accidently crawled into bed when I got home from work and do not want to get out and do the thousand things that need to be done tonight! Haven't wrapped any of dh's presents and have just realized I've run out of paper! B*llocks.

Super tired and really hormonal! I actually screamed at some horrible kids that pelted me really with snowballs yesterday- totally lost it, just stood there shouting and waggling my finger!

Anyway I hope you all have a fantastic day tomorrow and if anyone can wrestle the cold prawns away from me good luck to them! X

stac14 · 24/12/2009 17:09

kittykat77 · 27/12/2009 07:45

morning everyone!

We have officially survived xmas - and that is despite everyone (including me!) having coughs and colds, which is a little tiring to say the least!

Well we had our scan on Xmas eve, and everything looks ok. My due date has changed to the 18th July though, so I am a few days more than I originally thought!

Know what u mean about all the drinking Stac. Things never seem quite the same when u can't join in. I should have learned by now - this will be the 3rd time I have been pregnant over Xmas, should have timed it for after all the festivities really! ANyway hope everyone had a good Xmas and is not too tired!

TishTosh21 · 27/12/2009 10:54

morning all!

survived xmas with saying i 'didnt feel like drinking' to family members! dont think it raised any suspicions.

Now im really counting down the days to my scan on 5th Jan. I can tell this week is going to go quite slow. At least ive got DP off work this week to keep me company which is nice.

Got some very nice pressies too!

Hope everyone had a lovely xmas and wishing you a happy new year.

Emster30 · 27/12/2009 12:23

Hello all! Just catching up with internet stuff after a few days away from the screen.

I've had a lovely Christmas with lots of family, and being spoilt/given the best chair etc! Lucky me! Unfortunately I came down with a cold yesterday so have been feeling a bit rotten.

Only 3 days until the scan - CAN't WAIT!

Am bulging out of all my trousers - my MIL has given me a pair of elasticated size 16 stretchy jeans (not new, they used to be hers! I am usually a size 12) which have been very comfy if a little embarrassing. Assuming all is well on Wednesday I will go to the sales and buy some maternity clothes or at least some bigger jeans.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 27/12/2009 19:42

Evening ladies!

Did we all survive christmas? My mil survived by the skin of her teeth, I tell ya that woman just makes me want to scream. Still I take my joy where I can (deliverately only cooking roast potatoes coz apparently she "doesn't like them. wtf?! She ate 4. HA) and she likes her meals microwaved before being served them so I fucking nuked hers this year. I just find her insufferably rude! I'm not going to go on, altho my blood pressure could do with a raise, it's just too stressful and the nice thing is dd had a fabulous christmas and was really lovely . They've gone home today so we've spent the day vegging, watching movies and doing jigsaws. V wholesome lol.

Sorry everyone has colds - mine still hasn't gone and it's on my sinuses now so think it's a trip to the gp next week.

Got some beautiful maternity clothes from my parents, spa day from dh (I loves him i do!) and fluffy socks from my sister Really great christmas, despite mil. Was very grateful for my maternity dress xmas day,I would have died in anything else I think!

Now, is this an incresed size bump, or just dinner?!

Onwards we go - happy new year! tish how are you getting out of that one?!
