Hello All

Had the private scan today and was in awe of how amazing and detailed it was. Don't think I'll be worry free till the baby is in my arms but I feel so much more reassured now

So tired been a loooong day but looking forward to hearing how everyone having scans today/tomorrow gets on!

Emster30 · 21/12/2009 22:59

Great news Gibbon!

Sorry for those who the snow is affecting scan plans.

I must really go and get my bloods done tomorrow - went today but they don't do them on Mondays, I didn't read the form right... But it's going to be so icy I don't really want to walk there. Might persuade DH to drive me (he's not at work tomorrow).

I am really quite scared at falling over on the ice! I fell over in the snow in February and gave myself quite a bad bang on the head and had whiplash for a few weeks after (needed diazepam etc). Hope we all stay safe.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 21/12/2009 23:01

evening all

really good news re the scans violet and gibbon fabulous! So jealous, like tsc I won't get another now til mid/late Feb...then that's it til July eeeeeeeeeek!

tsc i feel your pain with the mil. Hoping xmas will go better this year with my outlaws as they won't be sleeping on the sofa bed in the front room. We've moved dh's home office into half the garage so the little room can become a nursery, but in the meantime we've put the worlds most uncomfortable futon in it so they have somewhere to to sleep...hopefully for very few nights!

gibbon none of us will be worry free til baby arrives, and then when it does it brings a whole set of new worries. Oh joy! I'm so paranoid about everything this time, with dd I got the bfp and that was it, no worries at all!

I'm well here, just quite dehydrated for some reason, feel like I'm drinking loads but I'm barely peeing and when I do it's pretty dark. Bizarre. More water I think!

Great news on the scans! I've got mine today so very excited. I'm having it a little early as I'm only 11+2 because I'm going home to Ireland tomorrow for Xmas, weather permitting. The midwife says it may still be too small to do all the necessary tests so fingers crossed.

My morning sickness and lethargy had really lifted last week. I even reactivated my gym membership and now I'm sick as a dog again! Oh well. I was a bit worried when the symptoms were disappearing so I can't really complain now they are back.

Finished work yesterday for two weeks and I'm loving sitting here in my jim-jams at 8am. I've been looking forward to this Christmas more than any other. Really needing the break.

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 22/12/2009 08:12

Enjoy your rest and the scan!!

I can't wait till the nausea goes, I am eating tons but bland things to try and stave off the nausea, I can't wait to really enjoy something I eat again, I love my food!

At the scan yesterday we got told the sex of the baby and that it's 75% to 80% accurate...I am wondering if I should still tell myself we have no idea till the day?(our trust do not sex the baby at the 20 week scan) I am honestly happy either way..we had none of this with DD as neither of us wanted to know

CurlyCasper · 22/12/2009 09:12

Great to hear the scan tales - good luck to all having them this week!

Wish this working week would hurry up and end!

TishTosh21 · 22/12/2009 09:22

winter thanks for reassuring me, ive got the midwife coming over today as she does the booking in appointment in 2 stages to give me time to fill out all the forms etc.
Ill just tell her all my worries so she can reassure me too! I dont think ill be really settled til i see the scan and know its all ok. Also having blood taken on the same day as scan for the tests. Im really looking forward to xmas this year even though its the first time i wont be able to drink. Still havent told my parents yet and my dad tries to give me alcohol when hes drunk, cant even say im driving as DP doesnt drink either! Oh what a fun day its going to be

TishTosh21 · 22/12/2009 09:40

Also, is anyone showing yet?

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 22/12/2009 09:58

I am tish

With DD I thought I was showing at 10 weeks but no one else noticed till nearly 6 months

Two friends mentioned me showing last week so I know this time it's not in my head

Tish I felt exactly the same as you before my scan, I know it's easy to say but do try not to worry, when you see that scan you will feel such relief!

DeeLite · 22/12/2009 10:00

I'm not showing although my jeans are getting a bit tight but that's because I've been stuffing my face with crap. I'm usually really healthy and thought I'd be super-healthy in pregnancy but all I want is crisps and sweets.

I'm taking Pregnacare supplements and hoping they are getting the vitamins through to the little 'un seeing as I'm going such a lousy job.

TishTosh21 · 22/12/2009 10:08

I cant decide if im showing or not as i get really bloated after a meal, but all ive eaten today is 2 biscuits with my tea and theres a little bump but dont know if this is just geneal weight gain, esp as ive given up smoking which can make you put on weight without being pregnant.

I know gibbon i cant wait for the scan to know its all ok. Il be posting the scan pic on my profile as soon as i get it

Also cant fit into jeans, i have to have the top button undone all the time. Also top button came right off work trousers and i havent bothered to sew it back on as they now fit perfectly!

stac14 · 22/12/2009 11:52

Hi everyone

How are you all? I can't believe how close it is to xmas, just want the next couple of weeks to fly by so I can get my scan, hearing about everyone elses scans has made me look more forward to mine lol

Do any of you have a big age gap between kids? My ds will be 11 and step ds will be 12 when this ones born and I was just wondering how your kids were with the baby?

Hope everyone is well, chuffed for everyone who have had lovely scans and those of you who are going in the next couple of days.

violet is your scan with nhs tomorrow?

Is everything ok gracie or have I missed your post.

End of school here today thank goodness its only housework I have left to do xx

TishTosh21 · 22/12/2009 11:58

Hi stac i know what you mean about the next 2 weeks, ive been looking forward to xmas so much this year as its me and DP's first xmas living together, but I also want it to go fast so i can have my scan.

Have been getting slight abdmoninal twinges in the last half hour or so. Not too sure what that could mean.

stac14 · 22/12/2009 12:05

tish its probs just your ligaments, I have had them all the way through, try not to worry hun. Remember your uterus is expanding all the time just now. If your sore take paracetemal they are safe for now. xxx

Gracie123 · 22/12/2009 12:41

Hello all!

I'm back, having been admitted in the end on Sunday. Scan was great though, just one baby in there (phew!) which has managed to grow 3wks +5 in 12 days . Terribly accurate these Nhs scans...

Got some new drugs as promethazine wasn't working. Dr gave me a bollocking about homeopathic medicine this morning. All I could think was 'shut up you knob!' but I smiled sweetly in the hope that he would discharge me and he did
soooo... I have another scan booked for 15th of jan, as mw is having trouble dating. She says we'll just accept whatever that scan date says.

Anyway, very happy to be home in time for Christmas.

violetbubbles · 22/12/2009 12:51

Great to hear about everyone's scans and so happy that you've been discharged from the hospital Gracie123

Stac14 - my scan yesterday was at the Nuffield with a Consultant called Professor Alan Cameron. He was amazing - really put me at ease and chatted to me like I was a mature human being. He also seemed as excited as we were to see the baby and the heartbeat, which was nice. I would definitely recommend him. If I need some reassurance about anything further down the line I'd definitely go see him again.

beckyg123 · 22/12/2009 13:31

Hi Everyone,
Not been on for a few days so just been catching up.

I'm 12 weeks today!!! WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!

Got scan a week on thurs so really looking forward to it! All this talk is giving me butterflies! Had last scan at 8 weeks and it was amazing although just looked like a globug!

Tishtosh i have been having some pains up each side of abdomen, some quite sharp and others are pulling, Dr said it is prop a mix of stretching pains and some prob wind!
Yesterday I sneezed and could have screamed in pain. It went right through my belly button down to my bum! Not sure what this was and DH just rolled his eyes when I was worried, just said "of course your going to have pains" - OMG, like he is some sort of expert!!!! I just stayed quiet and didn't shout at him but it was hard work!

Gracie so happy to hear everything is ok and baby has grown so much! its amazing how much difference in development rates there can be!

stac14 · 22/12/2009 13:35

Thats fab news gracie, how many weeks does that make you? So glad your home for crimbo.

violet I knew yesterday was your private scan but I thought you were to have an nhs scan on 22nd or was that someone else? I so have nappy brain at the mo lol. Thats good to know the nuffield are good, DP and I are thinking about the wellbeing scan at about 30 weeks. Did you go to the westend or cardonald?

CurlyCasper · 22/12/2009 13:45

becky i'm having evil sneezing pains too! It's all to do with the muscles changing and while it's perfectly normal and harmless in terms of the baby, it doesn't half hurt!

Gracie123 · 22/12/2009 14:41

That makes us 9 weeks. LO should be due on July 28th ish (although obviously if the 12 scan moves it back we could still end up back to our original date of July 24th)

Spirael · 22/12/2009 14:45

I can relate with the pains, beckyg123 and CurlyCasper. Though mine was when I was blowing my nose the other day. It's never hurt my lower abdomen before, when blowing my nose! Oh well, it all went away when I stopped, so I'm assuming that it wasn't a problem.

Currently my main complaint is the dreaded MS which, despite giving me respite last week, appears to be back again. Been feeling pretty bleh for the last two days and eating a ton of rubbish trying to keep it under control enough to function. My poor healthy diet. RIP...

Another issue that's materialised is relentless itching! All over my torso, front and back. I'm kinda assuming it's normal to itch..? I was mostly figuring dry skin combined with being stretched as I become fat change shape as being the cause. Putting some oil or moisturiser on seems to help a little... Does anyone have any other tips?

Lastly, I've broken out everywhere with acne! I'm starting to look like I have some kind of plague. People are going to stop wanting to be in the same room as me soon, at this rate. It also isn't helping with the itching, especially on my back. Grr!

It'll all disappear and there'll be a glow soon...right?? ... Right..?

Anyway... I'll stop whining now. It helps to vent sometimes. Good luck to everyone with scans coming up soon! Hopefully everything will be fine, and you'll get some nice clear pictures of your LO doing a happy little dance.

I'm glad you're out of the hospital now, Gracie123. Hopefully everything will stay fine for you to have a nice relaxing Christmas... Sounds like you've earnt it!

How is everyone else doing today?

ApuskiDusky · 22/12/2009 14:55

Glad to hear about everyone's scans - mine is tomorrow, we're trying to get a neighbour to watch ds so that dh can come too. It'll be a relief (all being well) to have it - last time I'd already had two scans by now!(though I'm glad I haven't had the panic of a suspected ectopic pregnancy like last time - GP sending me straight to A&E - "don't go home first, go straight there").

And today is my first day of trying to be medication-free - and I've not had any adverse feelings so far. I wasn't going to stop today, but a big work meeting was cancelled and I'm at home, so I thought I may as well chance it. And it's my last work day today - time to get the board games out!!

Becky and Casper - I know well those sneezing pains, the trick is to curl up before you sneeze I find. Lying down is the worst.

CurlyCasper · 22/12/2009 15:03

spirael I had the itching too. Pleased to say it stopped last week. Hang in there! And I already had acne so can't complain. Although I do want to know where me healthy pregnancy glow is!

apuski glad things are improving and good luck tomorrow. Agree - curling up/holding belly really helps. Unfortunately I've been sneezing and coughing while lying stretched face down in bed - OUCH!

And the cough nearly made me puke this morning

But nevermind, it's nearly Christmas!
