I am still her, pregnant, and sobbing silently into my pillow at night wishing pregnancy was over.

If she doesn't appear of her own accord tomorrow then i am being induced at 8am on Monday.

JoseyM · 26/12/2009 22:04

Hi All!

Hope you have all had a fab Christmas. It has been lovely reading how you are all getting on with your little bundles! I am so grateful to have this thread to be able to ask advice. Think i will be picking your brains a lot when i finally pop!

Since having contractions/aches from Monday through to Thursday on and off i haven't had anything at all since

I have to say i am quite relieved that it stayed put over Christmas. I am due Friday 1st Jan so not long to go. Seeing the Midwife Monday 4th Jan and she said if i am still hanging on she will due a sweep (can't wait...not)

Will keep you posted, hopefully i won't go over but we will see, i was so sure that things were getting going, i cant believe it has all gone so quiet!

jumblies · 27/12/2009 08:17

Hi Everyone,

Congrats to everyone waiting and hope everyone else isn't getting too restless!

Robin Edward turned up early for christmas on the 23rd December at 10.30pm...guess he didn't want to miss out on all the presents He weighed 9lbs

After having mild contractions all day on the 23rd they started ramping up in the evening - the actual labour was so fast and I managed to get my home waterbirth too so it all feels so special and I feel truly blessed at the moment...give me a couple of weeks for the sleep deprivation to set in though

Love to all xx.

Bump02 · 27/12/2009 12:49

Congrats Jumbilies Good luck with the sleep too

Oh Stigs Chin up sweetie, I feel just like you, only a few days behind you Hopefully we won't have to wait much longer now eh (got fingers crossed)

Hi JoseyM I also feel like you, I have had on and off for over a week big BH and 2 shows...but noting!!

Now got swelling in right leg, only a little. Called midwife who is going to come round this afternoon to check blood pressure, think all is okay though. Had twinges all morning but again...NOTHING happening! Starting to feel I am not pregnant at all and it's all been one big FAT lie

Hopefully the end is near...I've never wanted to be in pain so much in my life

Good luck everyone

sparklycheerymummy · 27/12/2009 14:59

Claire..... I will read back on here about your birth experience...... my labour was quick in the end honey but i tore from front to back ...... just missing and going round the side of my bottom hole!!!! I did manage with gas and air..... but only cos it was so quick after they popped my waters. My first major contraction at 6cm dilated lasted 10 mins and i was stood up trying to go to the loo..... i thought i was dying..... couldnt move... stood in a puddle of meconium stained fluid..... that i thought had already come out. the midwife had her head between my legs thinking the baby was literally going to fall out!!! I had planned lovely music and balls and walking and in the end once i started for real it was a lie on the bed job cos this baby is coming and you cant have an epidural. And as for whether i pooed or not..... my dp and midwife said no but i am sure i did!!!!!! I am still bleeding heavily and he is 13 days old. But as for hte depression.... i just cant decide if i am really heading down or whether its just that the euphoric feeling and all the attention focused on me has gone..... in hospital and when you first get home you are checked and taken care of.....now i feel like noone cares and i am fighting back the tears every time i speak to anyone who i care about. Toby is not colicky i dont think ..... just busy and windy.... my dd had colic so i know the difference..... you walk to the kitchen with toby and he stops crying...... so just wind i think. BUt ultimately i dont want to tell people because everyone is so proud that I am eating and sleeping and smiling..... things i didnt or couldnt do with dd. for once in my life i am succeeding and the fact that i am breastfeeding a nearly 11lb newborn is amazing everyone.... i feel so special...... i have many many issues with my self confidence and self worth. my son is gorgeous and has smiled at me and his daddy today. dp has had flu and his snoring is still bad so i am sleeping alone mist nights and i imagined him bringing me drinks and rocking baby while i go back to sleep. i did put ds down to sleep awake today and he fell straight to sleep.... he was mucking around looking up at me for hours before. this is real waffle isnt it.... sorry everyone!!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 27/12/2009 15:00

And sending big hugs to the ladies still waiting xxxxx

Bump02 · 27/12/2009 15:47

Well legs are feeling better so called midwife off. Had another bit of a show a minute a go, pink tinged this time and have been wiping what I can only describe as slime all day (sorry for the graphic description but I'm sure you'll let me off) And I think I'm having some contractions every 15 minutes, give or take a minute or so, but if the past week is anything to go by it'll result in a big fat nothing again!!

I can't wait to tell my birth story...how sad is that lol and have to admit sparkly that you have scared me a bit now, but you have lived to tell the tale so that makes it better Hope you are going easy yourself a bit more, you have all the time in the world to feel super great..if that is EVER possible! You have been through lots and need to praise yourself, forget everyone and pat yourself on the back woman

Stigaloid · 27/12/2009 18:54

oooh Bump keeping fingers crossed for you. My induction is set for 8am tomorrow morning so going to try and get one final nights sleep before it all kicks off.

Sparkly - hope you are doing better - i had horrendous PND too so can relate - although your tearing story has now got me pretty scared too - eeek! Hope you heal quick.

GoldenSnitch · 27/12/2009 19:21

Waffle away Sparkly. So sad to hear you're feeling bad. Sending you a very un-MNet Hug.I'm still here if you need someone to chat to.

I decided to have a short wander round Tesco today and it was a disaster!

I've been feeling fine. Haven't needed painkillers since Christmas day. I thought a quick wader round Tesco would be easy. We didn't need much, just some lunch and cotton woll balls for Catherine's nappy changes....

But I started feeling tight chested while we were in there and by the time we got to the checkouts I felt really quite wobbly. Sat down with the children while DH packed and paid and we went to walk out - at which point I pretty much fainted!

Managed to get myself sat on the floor rather than falling over but the whole world went grey and I couldn't see! Ended up in a wheelchair being taken back to our car. The security guard wanted to call an ambulance!!!

Been on the sofa with a headache ever since

Can't decide whether to get a doctors appointment for tomorrow or to wait till the midwife visits again on Tuesday to mention it.

Hope everyone else is feeling good.

Good luck for tomorrow Stig. Fingers crossed for you that the induction goes well.

Good luck Bump. I hope things are getting started for you

Good luck to all those still waiting

Stigaloid · 27/12/2009 20:23

Oooh Snitch i hope you are okay

AmazingBouncingFerret · 28/12/2009 08:00

Hey everyone.
Hope you are ok snitch.
Stig fingers crossed for you today.
Sparkly, you sound like you are doing really well and that Toby is a really happy contented baby.

Ive got thrush
DS has a viral chest infection and has been really ill all christmas.
Elizabeth has been up all night snorting like a pig, thankfully she hasnt got a temperature, but ive been told to watch out for it. She is really struggling to feed.
DH has been the only healthy one for once! He spent the night placating Elizabeth and trying to feed her.
I have now got her in the car seat (I know, I know its bad but atm all she wants to do is be upright!) sat next to me on sofa.

sparklycheerymummy · 28/12/2009 11:50

just wrote a long message and now it has gone ..... i am fine ish, worrying about why baby was birn so big and if i am obese. i did tear but all is fine now and i delivered a 10lb 11oz baby on gas and air alone with no interventions!! bucket fa**y!!!! still losing blood but because he was so big the placenta was hug so need more time to heal..... is worse when i anxious..... it sort of gushes!!!he fed well last night.....9pm, 2am, 4.30am and8am and i slept inbetween and he hardly cried except when i changed his bum...... have to confess to using wipes not cotton wool though!!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 28/12/2009 11:54

my friends baby loved the car seat and toby always nods off in his,,,,, dont feel bad ABF just do what you need to! TOBY SLEEPS ON HIS TUMMY..... he can lift his own head easily!!! Am cuddling him while he sleeps now........naughty me!! dd is belting out some karaoke songs on her machine she got from santa. xxxx

anniebigpants · 28/12/2009 12:52

Welcome to all the new arrivals, about time we had a postnatal thread, any Sorry to hear sparkly and claire sorry to hear your feeling down, make sure you keep talking, and claire sweetheart, donr feel a failure for giving up on bf, you made the decision which was right for you at the time, i can relate to things you,ve said, i only lasted 2 weeks bf with DS and gave up as he was feeding constantly and never settled in between feeds and lost 10% of his birth weight, i still gave 3 bf a day as well as formula feeds for the week or so after but am now formula feeding, i do feel guilty as wanted it to work well this time, but developed mastitis again and had mouth full of coldsores as was so run down. DS is only going 3 hours, sometimes less between feeds so we arent getting a great deal of sleep, but i wouldnt change him for the world!

LaDiDaDi · 28/12/2009 13:52

Hello everyone, hoping that those who are feeling down start to feel a bit better soon.

DS fed constantly yesterday but gave me the best night's sleep that I've had so far, fed at midnight, 5am and 9am! Bet it doesn't last though.

We def need a postnatal thread before this one fills up. What shall we call it?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 28/12/2009 19:03

Well midwife came to visit earlier and phoned Newdoc to get us an appt, When finally got in touch with them we got an appt for 8:20pm and that was them bumping us in the queue!!! I was really worried earlier because Lizzy wasnt feeding at all and I couldnt wake her. Turned out she was just rather sleepy and when she finally woke up she guzzled 4oz.

Sparkly just because you had a big baby doesnt mean you are obese. You did amazingly well, I thought I did well having no pain relief with my little 7lb 11ouncer!

Mybox · 28/12/2009 19:48

Hope everyone is doing well. Here I'm bf & co-sleeping. dd is happy to be carried about n my arms & babysling when out.

sparklycheerymummy · 28/12/2009 20:30

Think i should stop worrying.... we are all doing it diffeently and as long as our babes are happy who cares..... am perseverng with bf but he really is one hungry boy so not sure! I am worrying about everything but am still proud of myself at the end of the day!!!! We should all be so proud of ourselves.... motherhood is a challenge from start to ...... well forever!!!! as for those feeling guilty about not bf..... i didnt with my dd..... and she is healthy, happy, sleeps well and eats well so i really dont care if i keep going or not now!!!!

kirriemummy · 28/12/2009 20:39

Hiya everyone,

I'm not a regular contributor to this thread at all (I'm shy!) but I am starting to go a wee bit crazy and I was wondering whether any of you who've had their babies (congratualations!) could give me a bit of advice? I was due with my first baby on 21 december and she still hasnt shown up yet. I went for my second sweep yesterday ant the midwife said that all of the waters were sitting below the baby's head, my cervix is effaced, but not dilated, and she is bobbing about somewhere on top = she's not even engaged. I asked the midwife if there was any chance that she would be showing up soon, and she said probably not. She said that I could come in for another sweep on wednesday, and she booked me in for an induction on sat. I got the impression from what she was saying that anything short of breaking my waters will not really have any effect. It's my birthday tomorrow, and as I live a wee way away from all of my family, I've not really had much of a christmas as i've been here by myself driving my dh mental in case I went into labour. So I know it's selfish, but I'm now really fed up and I cant sleep ( I know, the world's smallest violin is launching into an aria) and I freely admit that I'm really not the nicest person to be around at the moment. So, my questions to you all are whether you all think there is any point at all in going though the indignity of another sweep when the other 2 did diddly squat, and whether it is possible to phone the hospital and ask if they have any, erm, cancellations to see if they can put me in for an induction earlier than Saturday? and also whether there is any way (other than the obvious stuff - I've tried bouncing on birth balls, pineapples, tea, baths, sex etc. a lot)to encourage your waters to break? I'm not blessed with the most patience in the world at the best of times, and that and insomina means that I'm about at the end of my tether here! Sorry for ranting (I figured that my lovely husband deserved a break and it was only fair I share round my grumpiness online!) Thanks in advance x

sparklycheerymummy · 28/12/2009 20:45

I had 2 sweeps..... was 75% effaced and 2-3cm dilated at the last one nad they still did nothing..... except hurt..... but they do work for some! In the end I had my waters broken and didnt need anything else...... labour was then quick. The sweeps gave me some hope and kept me occupied. NOTHING ELSE WORKS!!!!

kirriemummy · 28/12/2009 21:00

oooh - that's what I was afraid you might say!!!thanks though x

sparklycheerymummy · 28/12/2009 21:26

Anything is worth a try though..... stay positive xx

Hi ladies thanks for best wishes etc

Went to hospital last night around 6.30pm, was a long wait in triage as they were very busy, but at 8pm it was confirmed I was in labour at 4 to 5cm. To cut a long story short, because it's not very long Labour progressed well and with just gas and air (and biting of my lip) our baby girl Emily Sydney arrived at 00.56 on 28/12/09. (at 41 weeks)

All at home, breast feeding well, I feel great...might as well make most of it as I'm sure I'll be pooped in a few days.

damnitdamnit · 29/12/2009 02:18

Agggahh.

I have just spent the best part of an hour updating the list. (Ebony decided to be awake all night again) I had just about got it up to date and lost internet connection. when it refreshed lost my message.

I should have done it in word then transfered as i normally do.

Congratulations to all with arrivals. Good luck to everyone else.

May try to update the list again later but need to calm down first

Hopefully Ebony will let me go to bed now.
