Well am still here with bump. All afternoon I've experienced dull ache, like period pain. Occasionally I get a belt of pain but is mainly just always there.
Am currently sitting on the bed with my jeans undone having a cup of tea, leaving DH in charge of DD mopping the kitchen floor . He has no idea how much water she gets everywhere when she "helps" mop! Am trying to relax but it's a bit hard. Have contingency plans in place for tonight with my parents (10min drive across town), and luckily DD has 2 stockings so one can go to Grandmas if needed. At the moment though am planning to leave things as they are, and putting her to bed here. She's happy that we have Father Christmas phone number so we can call him if she's not here

After all this whats the betting it's another couple of days before baby puts in an appearance?

1petshortofazoo · 24/12/2009 19:31

Good luck biscuit!

Say midwife today for 5 day check. Ds has lost 10% of body weight, she was going to ring hosp then he did a big poo and as it looks normal she will just keep an eye on him.
I also caved and gave ds a bottle last night after feeding for an hour at 2am and ds spending most of that asleep! But not settling and obviously hungry. He gulped it down and slept til 6.30! So decided to bf during the day and bottle feed at night.

Merry christmas! X

anniebigpants · 24/12/2009 20:25

What's happened to the list? I'm back as an awaitee! If I get time tomorrow I'll go through and make sure it's up to date.

Merry Christmas mums and mums to be xxx

sparklycheerymummy · 25/12/2009 13:50

My big baby is always hungry and just wants mummy and i feel bad that he just wants me noone else..... am scared my PND is returning as i am so so tearful. the initial euphoria of giving birth naturally to a 10 lb 11oz baby has worn off. he is calmer at night but my friends baby born 2 days before mine sounds like a dream. am wondering if i should persevere with bf or put him on firmula in an attemot to fill him more...... he latches on well but not sure if he ends up still hungry or windy!!!!...... its christmas day and i feel sad xxx

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 25/12/2009 16:47

Currently sitting here feeding my new daughter everyone DD2 put in an appearance at 12.01 this morning after a quick 4 hr labour! Born at home but time is correct as my sister who was here as backup should DD1 wake up, made sure clocks were set to talking clock time!! Midwife had bet when she left the labour ward that she thought "her" baby would be born at 12.01 and be the first Christmas baby, whereas the other midwife left said no, they would be first with a first time mum already labouring. So when Baby Lucy came into the world at 12.01, she made my sister ring the delivery suite to swear that was the time DD2 was born

So that's me with delivery Lucy DD2 born 7lbs 5oz (4 days late)

Milliemuffin · 25/12/2009 21:38

Congratulations biscuits! Great news, well done xxx

mwncigirl · 25/12/2009 21:43

Well happy christmas to everyone. I gave birth to DS William John on the 23rd Dec at home in the living room on a birthing pool. Everything went really well after what seemed like an eternity of contractions..... 5 days before labour proper began.

We had a nightmare with the midwives as we live on the edge of a village and it had started snowing and they refused to come to the house for the planned homebirth becauseof possible access problems. We had struggled to even contact the midwives over the days as they were all off sick or not answering their phones......Still, we stuck to our guns and got the wonderful homebirth we wanted. I'm feeling really lucky and loving being a first time mum. Ooo its so exciting!

Hope everyone is doing well and hang in there if you're still waiting!

Bump02 · 25/12/2009 22:06

Congrats biscuits..same due date and I'm still waiting...boo hoo It's a good story, I can just imagine the midwives now lol Well done again

And congrats to you mwncigirl

Good luck anyone waititng Think I had proper show earlier so fingers crossed, feel like I've been in labour for a couple days actually so hopefully things will be speedy when the time comes...but who knows?! Hope you had a lovely christmas with bumps and those of you with babies x

lolianja · 25/12/2009 23:38

Congrats to mwncigirl and biscuits!

Well it appears I'm in slow labour, mild contractions about ten minutes apart since this morning. If they intensify I'll have to go in but they're perfectly manageable at the moment so will try and get some sleep for now. Feels very different to last time round (1hr 57 minutes from first contraction to baby!).

Good luck to everybody else still waiting!

sparklycheerymummy · 26/12/2009 11:33

Perhaps i shouldnt worry about the feeding..... he slept for 5 hours straIght last night!!!!!

congratulations new mummies!!!!!

GoldenSnitch · 26/12/2009 11:35

Midwife is coming back to reweigh Catherine today.

Wish me luck that she's put on weight like normal and her losing 13ozs was just down to the hospital mis-weighing her at birth.

Otherwise I'll be back in hospital by tonight.

sparklycheerymummy · 26/12/2009 11:38

that must be a mistake i am sure!!!!!! Good luck snitch!!!

GoldenSnitch · 26/12/2009 11:50

She's been feeding really well and looks really healthy and is having good periods of being awake and alert so I think it's a mistake - as did the midwife who weighed her on day 6.

Thanks Sparkly 5 ours sleep must have been bliss. I seem to wake up after 3 or 4 and then bother Catherine so I can feed her if she hasn't woken up by herself. I know she's OK but I can't help worrying!

Didn't need to worry last night - she woke up about every half hour between 9 and 1am wanting a feed and had about 5 dirty nappies in that time too!!

sparklycheerymummy · 26/12/2009 14:19

Ha ha bless her..... i have said before but i do so love the name catherine! Toby sleeps better at night and settles easily back to sleep after..... but he is 2 weeks old so this could change!! I dont wake him to feed as he is already 10lb 13ozs and i am sure he can survive!! He cluster feeds in evenin and so doesnt need it..... i try to space the feeds out but its not working out that way at times. i am just worried about my tearfulness and my obsession with the fact i am doing it wrong and other mums have happier babies and are better at it all than me!! Am so worried about the PND returning. Need some support ladies and dont want to admit to anyone here how i am feeling co they keep telling me how well i am doing and i dont want to let them down!

ok, so I have given up.... I gave my last bf at bed time last night. after ds loosing 10% of his birth weight i didnt feel confident enough to carry on, and he just wouln't settle. my boobs are paying for it now though lol.

he is using his arm a bit better but not as well as he should, hopfully i'll hear from the hosp soon.

congrats on the new arrivals

LittleMonkeysMummysAXmasFairy · 26/12/2009 17:14

Happy belated Christmas everyone.

Got all excited at 2 this morning when I was having regular contractions every 7-10 minutes Only lasted for an hour and there hasn't been even a twinge since. Oh well

Hope everyone had a good day yesterday. Am now off to try and tackle the HUGE amount of thank you cards I have to write on behalf off DD. Wish me luck!!

GoldenSnitch · 26/12/2009 17:52

So sorry you're struggling Sparkly.

I know that where you are it probably won't help much but Lee is right, if Toby is sleeping so well and putting on weight then you must be doing it right. He sounds very contented.

I agree that you should probably admit how you're feeling to those around you too. If you try to deal with this alone, you're likely to end up putting too much pressure on yourself until you can't cope anymore and that wouldn't be good for you or Toby. If you get the support in place now, you'll have people who can help you through this without it getting that bad.

If you really don't want to tell anyone then we're all here for you and you are welcome to CAT me or I can give you my e-mail for a chat. I'm just worried that I/we might not necessarily be around when you really need us and I hate to think of you alone. I've never had PND but I was depressed for many, many years and know how isolating it can be. A friend of mine had PND and her symptoms were very similar to mine.

I'm glad you like the name Catherine too Midwife weighed her this afternoon and she's put in 4oz in 3 days We're not being discharged at day 10 though (tomorrow) because they still want to watch her so we're due another visit on Tuesday to make sure she's carried on putting on weight.

Today's midwife thinks Catherine might have actually lost the 13ozs!!. She was 10 days early so could have had a weak suck apparently - although it certainly didn't feel like it! and as she was born by C-section, it would have taken extra time for my milk to come in which added together could have caused a large weight loss. I'm not sure anymore. Just glad she's doing well now.

Oh and all the Toby's I've ever known are lovely. I think you picked a great name too

GoldenSnitch · 26/12/2009 17:53

And Alexander is my DS's name

Claire236 · 26/12/2009 18:14

Congratulations on the new arrivals. Haven't been on the thread for a bit so can't remember who I've congratulated & who I haven't.

Sparkly - haven't admitted it to anyone except my sister until now but I'm feeling really down. Told sis as she had PND after having my niece but tried to keep it quiet. I didn't have PND after ds1 but do suffer with depression. Started with bf which I stopped after a week because the pressure I was putting myself under was dragging me down. Now feel guilty about quitting after only a week & generally overwhelmed with everything. ds2 is 4 weeks today & doesn't seem to like sleeping which isn't helping matters. Also find all these quick labours on here are making me feel even more miserable about my traumatic experience this time round.
