GibbonInARibbon · 04/11/2009 09:27

Welcome kkfairybrains, Page and Norky and congrats!!

Oh we are gowing now aren't we

Still no sickness here either but still exhausted due to my weird 5.30am wake ups.

Anyone else really bloated? I though I must have put on half a stone my jeans feel so tight but not put on a pound yet so why do I feel twice my usual size?

Thinking of having a private scan this time, to put my mind at rest, been looking at the calendar our first scans are right around Christmas time aren't they?

So much going round my head and I fear I am rambling now so I shall quietly step away from the message box

NorkyStrokesMice · 04/11/2009 10:35

Can anyone fill me in on when I have to tell the docs/see midwife/have scans? DS was born in New York and it's all different there!

And what's the latest on what not to eat?

Page62 · 04/11/2009 10:42

i work FT and i am wondering if i will start showing before i am ready to tell people (though to be fair, i am gagging to tell as many people as possible). this is #3 for me. the thing is, i have a black tie event at the end of nov and now thinking --should i buy the dress now? i might be quite podgy by then! hmmmmm........maybe get a billowy style.
i had very severe ms previously (the loo was my best friend) -- it would be interesting to see if that's still the case.....
it's nice to be with others!

NorkyStrokesMice · 04/11/2009 10:52

It's only 3 weeks away isn't it - you should be OK as long as it's not too fitted!

Do people mind saying whereabouts in the country they are? Might be nice to know if there's someone local when we get towards D-day! I'm in SE London.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 04/11/2009 11:04

thats a good idea norky we could add it to our stats list

Re your question, I'd tell your gp straight away. The gp may need to refer you to the mw (they don't at my practice I had to make an appt directly with the mw). Most mw's don't see you until 8weeks but we have an early bird clinic here so I'm going tomorrow! I'd give your practice a call and see what the procedure is there If you don't know your dates you get given a dating scan which will probably be around 10 weeks, otherwise I only get 12week and 20week routine scans. However my best mate is a vet nurse and she'll get the practice doppler out on me anytime I feel like it lol

page you should be ok I think! But go for something loose just in case

gibbon yes 12 weeks is the week of Christmas for me. Seriously hope to get a scan before christmas!

i live in clapham (SW london), so have updated stats too. Am hoping i can have an elective CS -- i had natural with DD, an emergency CS with DS and i have this irrational fear #3 will burst all the CS stitches (nice!)

beaufies · 04/11/2009 14:17

Hello Ladies

Just thought I'd pop by and say hello. I am due on 3rd July

To give you a little background I'm 40 and have DS1 who was one a few weeks ago. Both this one and DS1 were conceived using IUI, this one on the first attempt - yay !

Sorry for taking so long to get here. I first posted my BFP on the July TTC thread and then I was looking for you on the pregnancy board - Doh, the brain has gone already

Mcdreamy · 04/11/2009 14:20

I don't belong on this thread as I don't fit the criteria but just wanted to give Norky a massive

GibbonInARibbon · 04/11/2009 14:31

Welcome beaufies and congrats!
and on first attempt too! wonderful

I am having a lazy few hours while DD at pre school, off to pick her up in a mo.

Still eating like a bastard btw

latestincarnation · 04/11/2009 14:45

Hello newbies - many congratulations to you all!!

The Latest household are gradually returning to normally after the incredible vomiting baby (and mum) although appetites are poor. I am absolutely exhausted though, and trying to pack for a trip tomorrow that should be fun but is rapidly turning into a chore

So pg symptoms, ummm very stroppy, very tired and a bit bloated, not sure if the nausea is all day sickness or left over from bug.

Seeing my mum on friday and petrified: she is going to guess straight away, and she will disapprove. She kinda has every right too, but I hope she can be supportive. I guess thats playing on my mind in addition to everything else!

WWSW I'm starting to think I must know you ?!! I moved up from Bristol last year.

Current location: Co.Durham, Location for Birth - in the hands of an Interview panel.

latestincarnation · 04/11/2009 14:48

Mummyannabella Ghouls Flowerbee and all those we haven't seen for a while I hope all is going ok and that RL has got in the way - pop in and say hi!

GibbonInARibbon · 04/11/2009 15:34

I noticed that Mummyannabella started the thread but not seen her, do hope all is ok.

FlowerBee · 04/11/2009 15:55

Welcome all newbies! So good to see our stats list starting to expand. If poss, would be great to know vicinity too, as not completely sorted with my local Mumsnet site at the moment. I?m in Hertfordshire. I?ll update the stats list.

Glad to hear you and your family are on the mend latest. Sounds like you?ve been through the wars! How come you?re thinking of having a private scan Gibbon? And at what stage?

How?s your tooth Mousey? I?m convinced I?ve got some lovely cavities developing in one or two of my back teeth (despite having a root canal this year) and I?m just hoping I wont have to do anything about them till after 40 weeks. Futile really! They say dental care is really important for pregnant women.

And Apuski, know what you mean about dairy (though I?m still able to eat chocolate thank the lord!) ? used to love having my bowl of cereal in the morning now forcing down a dry bit of toast. Great. Can cope with the waves of nausea as long as I don?t end up with my head permanently down the loo!

WWSW am loving your chilled yoga moods!! Tried an Aquanatal class today and all the other women with their giant bumps about to explode from jumping up and down in the pool freaked me out a bit! I don?t think I?m ready to get that huge yet, let alone think about getting the baby out! Think I?ll stick to a little light running for now.

On a random side post (got this is turning into a novel, sorry ladies), I rescued a stray horse from running onto the main road from our lane today!! How random. Felt like I was in Wuthering Heights or something with all the wind blowing and the horse sorting and calming down to my touch!! Are there any horses in Wuthering Heights. No, probably not!!

latestincarnation · 04/11/2009 16:26

gibbon long story, but the short is that my son is only 12mths, I got PND after a very difficult 12 months running up to his birth, which included a MMC and moving many many miles away from friends and family at 30 wks. We are possibly having to move again, and mum didn't want me to do it pg (understandably) but dh and I know that the path to a dc is not smooth, and the move may not happen, so we thought we would start trying, and hey presto, first month. we were even going to leave it until the new year if things didn't happen in october.

I know she worries about me, and hated being so far away, but she doesn't seem to get beyond that concern sometimes. I've not seen her in 3 months, so its going to be strange (we speak daily, but its not the same as seeing someone frequently)

that felt cathartic - its been playing on my mind alot this week. I've told my sis and she was teasing me that "she would be the goldenn daughter now". The weekend is a huge family get together, but too soon to tell all our parents?

Sorry about the venting. As you were, ladies...

GibbonInARibbon · 04/11/2009 16:29

I'm in Essex and they do not sex the baby at my hospital which was fab when pregnant with DD as neither DH or I wanted to know but for some reason we are leaning towards knowing this time, so to find out we would need a private scan.

Will think on it in the next few weeks and see what we decide

WhatSheSaid · 04/11/2009 17:28

My scan will be due between Christmas and new year, they don't get too booked up here as there are lots of places you can go to get a scan - clinics separate from hospital that do X-rays/mammograms/ultrasounds etc. You just get a list of them all and phone up the one nearest you to make the appointment. I definitely want to find out the gender at the 20 wk scan too - I'm too impatient to wait 40 weeks when I only have to wait 20!

Dh and I are going to a wedding (locally)this Saturday, we were going to get a taxi home but now I'm going to drive and use that as the excuse why I'm not drinking. It's only about the 5th time we've been out together since dd was born so it would have been nice to have a few drinks together, but not to be!

No symptoms here yet but the ms didn't kick in till 6 weeks last time. And I never got sore boobs which seems to be the symptom that virtually everyone gets.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 04/11/2009 18:23

congratulations beaufies!

crikey latest that would be scary altho I'm amazed I haven't run into anyone I know in RL on here yet! I'm actually just outside Bristol in Nailsea I'm a real bumpkin, been here all my life apart from a brief and much hated dally with Surrey . Hope your mum doesn't give you too much grief...tis tricky tho and mums are prone to worrying (as we know!) but like you said there is NEVER a good time to have a baby. Good luck!

flower lol at aquanatal. I did a bit of that in the late stages with dd but found it all a bit bonkers really. I did normal aqua aerobics up until 30weeks, and yoga and gym work up until my due date. Then I spent 4 days on my arse sulking coz dd hadn't turned up on time! Oh and there are plenty of horses in WH . My most random moment was waiting for the school bus one morning and a cow galloped past. I actually thought I was hallucinating!

gibbon we're not finding out again this time, but I'd really like to do a proper nursery and I'm not over keen on beige.

whatshesaid the only symptoms I had with dd were nausea throughout the day from weeks 6 to 11 and aching ribs. Nothing else! Am 5 wks today and my boobs are massive and even do that tingling like when you're milk first comes down! Very freaky. Expecting the nausea to be worse from next week. I've read that 6 weeks is when there's a massive development push so I guess that's why it kicks in then.

omg! look look

GibbonInARibbon · 04/11/2009 18:54

LC so sorry you must think me rude and that I ignored your post but I was typing slowly and missed that you had posted.

Your mum will no doubt worry, that (as we well know ) is what parents do. It will be because she loves you. You will feel so much better when you tell her, like a weight has been lifted I'm sure. Take a deep breath and tell her, follow it with 'and we are thrilled', that is the hardest bit over. After that it will get better I'm sure

Will be thinking of you and I truly hope it goes well

Yes am loving the too

randomama · 04/11/2009 19:30

Hey ladies,

Hope all's well and that everyone is feeling happy and positive.

I went to docs this morning to tell him I was PG, etc. was lovely. he is so cool!!! so laid back! he reckoned the only thing I should watch out for is "lambing ewes" !!! from about November onwards. (apparently they carry a bacteria or something which can make women miscarry? anyway, we have a lambing field behind out house so I guess that's where he was coming from.

Sending loads of love and luck to all. Hope the mum telling goes well latest. thinking of you. mums are the locus of all our most intense feelings eh? maximum love AND maximum anxiety!

have updated with new DD from doctor who clearly doesn't use the mumsnet DD calculator!

beaufies · 04/11/2009 19:51

Hi Ladies

I don't know why but I've suddenly become very anxious. I'm suddenly terrified that I have/will miscarry. I've had nothing to suggest that and have no history but I can't think about anything else.

I do remember being similarly anxious with DS and being in floods of tears at my booking appointment because I wanted them to check for HCG levels and they initially refused.

I am 40 so I know that my chances of miscarrying are higher but is it just hormones, or could it be that I've got a horrid cold and am feeling sorry for myself ?

Sorry for bringing up the subject

latestincarnation · 04/11/2009 20:08

Gibbon lol I do the same, I guessed you had not refreshed it. Not taken personally, no matter how neurotic I feel at the moment!

WWSW I was in Wrington for a couple of years, but don't worry, I'm sure we've not met

randomama - yes, beware of lambing ewes, lambs and afterbirth etc, especially abortions. Best not to be involved - admire their cuteness from afar!

Well, I had better get packing, Mum is on the phone to dh, I'm sure her ears are burning - as I say, I bet she already has guessed!!

Irishfairy · 04/11/2009 20:32

Hi all

beaufies I have felt the same as you all day today. For some reason I've felt really scared that something will go wrong... I think it was from reading my pregnancy book today and things like statistics made me freak out. I am feeling a bit hormonal today anyway so I think it is probably that. Just burst into tears on the phone when DH called to say he had a work dinner Never done that before so must be the hormones!
Actually feeling better after a bit of a cry I am just going to try and relax and go with the flow from now on (easier said than done I'm sure) This pregnancy business really is a roller coaster of emotions!

randomama at the 'lambing ewes' still good to know if you are near sheep for some reason...

FlowerBee love the image of you going all 'Wuthering Heights' and rescuing a horse... well done!

WWSW love these too I like yellow for a unisex nursery saw some pics of a nice one in a magazine today... think we'll probably end up finding out if we can though because we're both impatient types !
