anyone else getting pain/cramps after bowel movements? It's weird, cause when i had period pain it was eased by going to the loo, and now I have what feels the same, but the opposite IYSWIM. The diarh doesn't help either sorry! I've been very uncomfortable and just want to know I'm not alone

we'll be catching up on the 7th then witchy! Congrats on the fruit munching

WickedWitchSouthWest · 19/11/2009 21:45

a bowel movement! Oh that's a weekly treat for me at the mo, so it's only ever relief . What you're getting does NOT sound nice at all Hope it eases soon for you, curly

welcome EmsieRo! I am so sorry to hear about your last pregnancy - what an awful decision to have to make (I certainly wouldn't judge you for it - impossible to know what one would do until in your situation). I hope you have a more straightforward pregnancy this time around.

And welcome too, littlesilver!

I had a dream about the baby last night - dreamt I went to a scan and could see and hear the heartbeat (must be all the chat on here) - the feeling of relief in the dream was immense. Woke up feeling very emotional - I must be more worried than I thought about this pregnancy (and I thought I was pretty worried to start with)

But I think I've got a symptom, finally! YEAH! (Apart from my norks, which are also increasingly massive) I had fearful rhinitis last pregnancy and it's returned with a vengeance. I thought I had a cold until I remembered.

lazyemma · 20/11/2009 06:37

also - sleb1 - glad to hear your scan went well. Hope your little bean continues to grow.

Spirael · 20/11/2009 08:13

Morning all!

All this talk of struggling with spicy food seems a bit weird to me... As I've been craving anything spicy!! I've been putting chillis into virtually everything over the last week or two, and even just eating them straight. I take it I probably shouldn't worry about this and just go with it..?

Mind you, I seem to be backwards in a few things. Everything I've read says that my hair is meant to stop falling out quite so much and turn all nice and thick... Well, mine is coming out by the handful at the moment, and it was pretty thin and whispy to start. Baah...

I'd be more concerned, but I took another cheapy test this morning to reassure myself and the positive line came up in moments, before the control line, and was a lot darker than it. So I'm guessing everything is ok.

Good luck to everyone trying to give up smoking! I've never smoked myself and don't seem particularly prone to addictions of any type, so I really have no idea what you're going through. But I hope you succeed!

Hello to everyone new! It's hard to keep track at the moment, the topic is moving so fast. Particular hi to EmsieRo!

MissWooWoo · 20/11/2009 09:11

Morning all and a big hello to anyone new

sleb1 fantastic news!!! I have decided to keep my scan appointment for when I will be 6+6 as they very kindly said that if there was no heartbeat they would have me back in a week later free of charge! Your post makes me hopeful.

EmsieRo no judgements here, you have to do what's right for you don't you?

Another shit night, awake at 3am again and unfortunately so was dd who then stayed awake til 4 bloody thirty aaarrrrggghhhh. Feeling very foggy in the head (and tired obv) and have resorted to sticking the tv on already ... just can't face playing seasides/vets/tea parties at the moment. Numberjacks is very educational, right?

confession time ... I ate almost a whole (small) tube of choc digestives yesterday in the car coming home from the supermarket

violetbubbles · 20/11/2009 09:18

Big warm welcome to EmsieRo and littlesilver! And a big congratulations to lazyemma and the arrival of her symptoms! .

My symptoms seem to be decreasing a bit. Feeling less sick and less tired but experiencing really uncomfortable cramps - all day yesterday, throughout the night and again this morning. So, I've taken the plunge and booked in for an early scan tonight at a private scanning clinic. Not sure what to expect at 8 weeks + 4 days... Feeling very anxious about the scan but I know it's the right thing to do at this point.

I'll let you all know how it goes! Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me and my little bean
x

iggypiggy · 20/11/2009 09:23

Morning all - am a little worried at my lack of symptoms at the mo... Am hoping they will start to kick in cos wierdly I'd feel happier if I had some!

All I really have is falling asleep early and tender boobs!

Happy Friday!
Morning all and welcome to all the newbies!

I've been keeping up with all the chat over the last few days but have been struggling with asthma and a horrible chest infection and have not had the energy to type. Feeling better today so think I have managed to fight it off hurray!!! The doctor didn't give me antibiotics so I had to fight it myself. Is it really bad to take antibiotics in early pregnancy? I seem to remember a good few people on MN taking them for various reasons.

My symptoms have been up and down, I think being ill has masked them a bit... boobs still increasing in size and tenderness though, they are my gauge check that I'm still pg, I randomly squeeze them during the day to make sure they still hurt! Went off most foods for a couple of days but now massive appetite back.

My booking in appointment with the midwife is next Thursday, I'll be exactly 8 weeks then. I'm looking forward to getting everything started. If the midwife says my scan won't be before Christmas I will book a private one. I've found a place in Reading that do dating/reassurance scans from 8 weeks for 65 pounds which seems like a good price compared to other places I've seen. Then at least fingers crossed we can tell everyone at Christmas

givecarrotsachance · 20/11/2009 10:33

emsiero really good to hear your story. For various reasons we have a high risk of abnormalities and I'm really trying to be positive but like you, we have already decided that we would be unlikely to continue under certain circumstances. Of course, we can't second guess what we would actually do if the time came (gods forbid) but at the same time we had to have the conversation. Let's hope this works well for both of us.

casper I am getting similar things although bowel discomfort is not a stranger to me anyway. Certainly things have changed and I'm getting a lot of cramps which are definately caused by that area. Pregnancy does change your digestion so much... so it sounds ok to me, what you're saying. Personally I eat loads of fruit and veg anyway and I am trying to keep doing that even when I just don't fancy stuff.

iggy I know what you mean - I'm still smiling as I feel sick but I go 2-3 days without anything other than sore norks. I'm sure it will all change soon...

MIL just turned up - gotta run to break the news!

to all

this is no. 3 for me so should be old hand at this, but has anyone found an effective relief from nausea/vomiting? i work ft and i am at a busy period and all i can think about is how not to retch whilst at my desk.

has anybody tried acupuncture or anything i saw seabands are ok to wear, but not past the 8th week (didn't explain why not) and with my past 2 pregnancies, being sick lasted till about 24 weeks.....

i know should be a good sign etc (by my count, I am 6+2) but anybody with helpful tips, gratefully appreciated

givecarrotsachance · 20/11/2009 14:02

page62 as this is your 3rd I guess you know most of the stuff but I've been eating some candied ginger from Holland and Barrett. Can't remember the name but it's in a green box and is called something like Ginger Chews from The Ginger People. Don't have here to look at. Really is helping me but I'm not as bad as you by the sounds of it - yet. Have you tried preggie pops? I didn't get MS in my last pregnancy so this is new to me but I may get some.

If there's a Chinese doctor in your town they would be worth a try as they are really good with things that conventional medicine can do nothing for.

givecarrotsachance · 20/11/2009 14:07

Just found this (Casper this may interest you too)

No idea if it is any good but if anyone tries it, send back feedback!!!

www.nctshop.co.uk/MorningWell-CD/productinfo/1901/

Anyone tried homeopathy? A friend did and it really helped but I would go to a homeopath for a proper consultation rather than buying off the shelf. Again, I'm not back enough for now to worry about it but if I do I'll report back.

Page62 · 20/11/2009 14:25

thank you -- i will try these and report back... i just keep thinking, the next one will be different and yet the loo is my best friend!!!!

ApuskiDusky · 20/11/2009 14:28

Hi all, I've been catching up on all the news! It's been forever since I posted, as despite the acupuncture helping a bit, I am still feeling rough 24/7 (I didn't think it was possible to feel queasy whilst sleeping, but somehow I am) and find that just ignoring the pregnancy aspect makes it easier to deal with, treating it more like illness instead. But I can't moan too much, many people suffer far worse - sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time, flowerbee.

Page62, I had heard good things about the acupuncture, and I think it has helped a bit, but I have it, then feel truly dreadful for the next day, before then feeling better, so I'm not sure I'm going to continue with it. But that's not a typical response I understand.

We're telling my MIL later today, so that'll be good - there's no way I could have got through a weekend at her house without explaining why I'm behaving so weirdly!

Oh, I got an invitation for a swine flu jab yesterday - I was surprised as I thought they were only targeting second and third trimester, but apparently not. But I've decide to postpone having it until second trimester, as the serious risks seem to arise in later pregnancy.

sevans · 20/11/2009 14:58

Welcome EmsieRo, my old buddy! Are we thinking we are due the same day? July 20? I really don't know if I am calculating correctly so I guess I can't be sure until I go to the doctor.

sleb, that is great news. That makes me really look forward to my ultrasound when I am right at 7 weeks! I thought it may be too early to see/hear anything, but maybe not!

iggypiggy · 20/11/2009 15:08

sevans ooh are you due same day as me? Have you got any symptoms

carrots I really not feeling sick at all now... i know I should be pleased - but can't be!

tjtheminx · 20/11/2009 15:17

Hi
can I join you? Just got a positive test five mins ago. Think I am 6 weeks.
I already seem to have preg brain and think my LMP was 9th October.
I have been in denial for the past week - hence only tested today after a week of bigger norks, cramping and chucking up twice yesterday as well as feeling exhausted.
I walked past a guy smoking a cigarette on the street this morning and thought I was going to vom there and then ...... duh! thought I'd better do a test pronto.
This is my 4th pregnancy - 1st m/c at 12 weeks, then normal preg my DS is 2 1/2 and had another m/c earlier this year at 18 weeks.
Fingers crossed for this one
I've never really had ms and I definitely have had that for the past 2 days so that's a good sign. I also already feel about a stone heavier and craving diet coke.
Just called the obs and have my first scan on 15th December.Hoped they might do it earlier because of previous mc but am in the US where they suit themselves.
Looking forward to chatting.

sevans · 20/11/2009 15:21

iggypiggy, july 20 also, yay! No major symptoms. Just peeing more and a little fatigue. I get occasional stomach cramps but they don't last long. What about you?

sevans · 20/11/2009 15:24

Posted my message at the same time as you tj. Welcome! I am in the US also!

iggypiggy · 20/11/2009 15:45

sevans not much - a bit tired in the evenings, sore boobs (but not much) and occasioanl cramps too - feel bit better you have same!
Last time (when I had an MC) i felt far sicker - so have been totally paranoid!

My mum said this to me yesterday - bless her - ah well at least if this one doesn't work out, you haven't spend your time staring into the porcelain...

CurlyCasper · 20/11/2009 16:10

afternoon all. I feel really crappy today. diar worse (sorry) and now have the constant need to pee and extreme fatigue. Ended up taking today off because was chained to loo overnight. spend most of day sleeping. then when I felt better around lunchtime I attempted to do a bit of tidying up and ended up roasting hot and short of breath very quickly. so went back to bed again. Can't work out if I perhaps have a bit of a bug or if this is the pregnancy hitting me. Either way, been very glad to have loads of snuggles from the dog

iggs I've not been sick/got bigger boobs or anything like that. we're only just into the sixth week, so give it time... As you say, it's been different to last time, which can only be a good thing. at your mum x

CurlyCasper · 20/11/2009 16:12
