Hmm, really want to have the scan next week ... arrrgggghhhhhhh. Maybe I will sleep on it.

I went back to bed and tossed and turned, had a very nasty dream, got woken up by dd at 5am for cuddles (so cute) which went on for half an hour at least then back to sleep til 7, up for a wee and then back to bed for another half hour. Feel soooooooooo tired.

FlowerBee · 19/11/2009 11:10

Hello ladies, and welcome all newcomers i haven't met yet. Recently been in hospital for 6 days for hyperemesis and still feel very icky. Care at my local hospital was genuinely shocking. Despite there being some gems of nurses the general management and nuring care was so poor it made me think i'd get better care if i was a pet dog (i'm a vet)!

Was vomiting non-stop for about 6 days. Lost 4 kilos in this time. Tried phenergen, cyclizine, metoclopromide. Was put on iv fluids. Nothing worked till the ondansteron injection.

Still vomiting but only occasionally now. Trying desperately not to vomit and trying to force down fluids and something to eat every 4 hours. Feel horrible and woozy. Is still a struggle but at least i'm out of hospital. Had a scan in hospital (was spotting) at 6+1. Saw heart beating which made me smile, but they advised me not yet guarenteed. Am not coping with this pregnancy very well at all.

Sorry this post is a bit depressing but mainly posting it to help other women that experience hyperemesis!

MissWooWoo · 19/11/2009 11:20

oooh Flowebee poor you

hope you feel better soon

skihorse · 19/11/2009 11:22

hi FlowerBee - I'm sorry to hear you're having such a rough time of things right now - can't you just bung in your own IV? I'm delighted to meet a nice Lady Vet - I'm the proud mummy of two doglets and one horse and I haven't killed a pet for years so I've high hopes for a real live baby!

givecarrotsachance · 19/11/2009 11:29

flowerbee how awful. My friend had it and I know how utterly dreadful it is. I'm so glad you're out of hospital now. Is this your first pregnancy? If not, did you experience this before?

casper that is remarkably sweet of your DH. I need to give mine a kick

Anyway, got the 12 week scan booked now (NF) and am considering an earlier one just for the heck of it as I need some reassurance. Finally got the genetic testing people calling us back for an appointment (I'm in court that day they had!!) but should get that before Christmas so hopefully will get an idea of the viability soon enough. Still so hard to wait

In the meantime been having lots of achy feelings which was worrying me, but no bleeding so I'm assuming it's just settling down and snuggling in for the ride. Nausea coming and going but currently manageable - but feel like I'm in a fog a lot of the time.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 19/11/2009 11:46

morning all

just been to get my legs and fanjo area defluffed and by god I'd forgotten how much worse it was when pg!! OUCH. Tis done now for a month

flowerbee oh no how awful I really hope you can keep yourself well now. Hopefully the sickness will lift when you hit 12 weeks.

lol @ski...your parenting skills can't be called into question with experience like that!!

carrots good luck with the genetic testing ppl. Pls excuse my poor memory, but I can't remember why you were having to go through it? Oh and get yourself that extra scan I'm in that awful fog too...have to keep reminding myself to concentrate!

Have been really productive so far today so I guess that means this afternoon will be a write off lol.

Hope everyone has a good day

givecarrotsachance · 19/11/2009 13:09

WWSW My DH and I both have various genetic problems. Mine is a history of spina bifida/hydrocephalus and also some severe bowel problems. DH has other issues which we don't really understand which we're trying to get the testing for. In him it's not really a problem but from what we understand the gene could cause anything from missing limbs to severe mental disability.

We were trying to get the genetic testing on DH's side done before getting pregnant but they don't prioritise it until I am (in other words they ignore it) so we decided to go for it anyway and cross our fingers.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 19/11/2009 13:26

Oh gosh, that is a big worry. I hope they do the testing quickly and you get the right result. Fingers crossed for you. Sorry for being so nosy my mental filters aren't working too well...

givecarrotsachance · 19/11/2009 13:36

Thanks WWSW. Not at all nosy, don't mind at all. It's not something I talk about IRL, to anyone, other than DH and my mum! So it's useful to be able to here.

Wonderstuff · 19/11/2009 14:53

Flowerbee, so sorry you are having such a rough time of it. I had awful sickness during my last pg, wasn't hospitalised, but lost a lot of weight and was miserable. If it's any consolation my birth was amazing, focused on not being pg anymore, was on a high for months afterwards, it felt so good being me again.

givecarrotsachance I hope that the testing gets done soon and gives you some positive outcomes

DD had a 2.5 hour nap which was lovely, I got an hour and still feel knackered. She is now focusing on being a pita, drawing on the furniture and generally making more mess. DH is in bed, I'm really hoping he doesn't have swine flu.

Spoke to our solicitor today and we may actually exchange contracts tomorrow (currently selling 1 bed flat, its taken months and months)

Firerise · 19/11/2009 15:17

Flowerbee sorry you have been having such a rotten time of it and I hope you feel lots better soon.

WWSW was thinking of getting my monthly defluffing this weekend ...does it hurt a lot more when up duffed? If so I may be a wuss and consider alternatives!

Carrots hope the testing goes well and gives you the results you want so you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy relaxing knowing it is all ok.

Wonderstuff congratulations on exchanging! That's great news!

I am feeling really positive today and know I have a little fighter tucked away in there - it is so nice to start to be hopeful and excited again!!

BettyButterknife · 19/11/2009 16:05

Glad to hear things are more positive for you firerise. And poor you flowerbee, that sounds horrendous

My symptoms have been coming and going - sometimes sicky, really hungry other times, very clear idea of what I want to eat (and what I really can't face). Knackered and fuzzy-headed the whole time. Bit achey and crampy.

I've been getting the night sweats too, so I'm glad other people have them as well - makes me feel a bit more normal. Half the time I'm cold and shivery so it really is extremes for me at the moment.

I'd forgotten the needing-the-loo-in-the-night thing. DS is sleeping badly at night, and we have the world's creakiest floorboards so I don't really want to walk past his room in case he wakes. I'm considering investing in a chamber pot!

Can't believe I've only known for a week... feels like much longer.

Oh and I had a brilliantly vivid dream about Johnny Depp! Pregnancy dreams are intense

lazyemma · 19/11/2009 16:38

lucky you, BettyButterknife. Last night I dreamt I was a washer-upper in a busy restaurant (this was a job of mine a long time ago); the dishwasher had broken and dirty plates were piling up everywhere and the chef was shouting at me.

Flowerbee that sounds horrific! I won't wish for morning sickness ever again (I know hyperemesis is v. extreme, but still). I hope the worst is over soon.

I caved and went to the GP today. Total anti-climax, as I'd predicted, and I wussed out of asking for an early scan. I think I'll get extra monitoring though because my last pregnancy triggered Graves' disease, which is lifelong, and will probably flare up again after or even during this one.

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

lifeistooshort · 19/11/2009 17:27

ow flowerbee sounds horrible poor you

berberis · 19/11/2009 19:02

Hello everyone,

Haven't been on for couple of days so just catching up - Firerise, that's great news, very pleased for you.

MissWooWoo - what you said yesterday re the curry, exactly same happened to me this week, I was suffering for a whole 24 hours afterwards, and was only the dish I usually have. I checked it out and it is something to do with being more sensitive to spicy foods, so am going to have more plain food from now on.

Does anyone have any tips about this wretched fatigue? At 3pm every day, at work, I feel like am about to slip into deep slumber. Cannot tell anyone at work because I don't want them to know, so they probably think I've got a hangover, but it's very annoying. Even going to bed early doesn't seem to help.

On the up side, I went to buy new bras today and I have gone up 2 sizes already, woo hoo! (Which if you've been an A cup since age 12 like me is nothing short of a miracle)

berberis · 19/11/2009 19:04

Also Flowerbee, have just read your message, sounds awful and hope you feel better soon - sorry makes my grumbling about the curry sound v trivial.

MissWooWoo · 19/11/2009 19:21

berberis I'll probably go off spicy food sometime soon anyhow - either way I'm not going through that again if I can help it. Can you sneak off somewhere for a crafty snooze at lunchtime?

I hope to god I don't get any bigger this time around in the bazooma department - mine still haven't gone down properly from last pregnancy, my back size has gone back to normal but the cup size has stayed the same ...34G FFS!

berberis · 19/11/2009 19:30

MissWooWoo - wow! I hope mine stay bigger... I might try to rest at lunch, though there's nowhere to sleep, that's probably a good idea.

violetbubbles · 19/11/2009 19:39

Hey everyone

Been away from my laptop all day so just spent the last half hour catching up on all of your posts

So sorry to hear that you're having a crappy time at the moment flowerbee - hopefully things will improve for you over the next few days!

I'm also struggling with extreme fatigue berberis. Despite getting to bed no later than 9.30pm each night I am exhausted pretty much all day It hits me really bad at about 3.30pm. I'm also unable to sleep more than two hours during the night without waking up with a full bladder! I know fatigue is one of the symptoms but if it's getting you down you might want to consider requesting a blood test to check for anemia. I did and I get my results on Monday. I can normally get by on 5 hours a night and am usually able to get to the gym at least 5 times a week but for the past few weeks I'm exhausted just walking up the stairs!

WickedWitchSouthWest - your waxing story made me giggle!

It's been great catching up with all of your chat tonight!

berberis · 19/11/2009 19:49

Thanks violetbubbles, I am seeing GP on Monday so will ask about that. I should probably do a bit more exercise, that might help

LittleSilver · 19/11/2009 20:35

Just sticking my head around door, not sure whether to come in or not as had very faint pos test this am. Thing is, haven't had period since July 2008 as have been pg and bf since then, so no idea really when I conceived! Think am prob 4/40 though, which makes me due 29th July. I don't usually have scans but might have one this time just as am very unsure over date!

sevans · 19/11/2009 20:49

curly, are you still temping? I haven't brought myself to stop. I guess it is just a little reassurance that I actually am pregnant!

I made an appointment on Dec 1 and I will be getting an ultrasound. I'm pretty anxious! If I am calculating correcting, I would be 7 weeks exactly so hopefully there is something to see or hear!

I'm not having major symptoms at this point. Just peeing more during the day (thank goodness not at night to interrupt my sleep), some fatigue, and occasional stomach cramps which only last a few minutes. I will be hitting 6 weeks next Tuesday and from what I have heard, that is when the sickness usually comes.

Welcome LittleSilver!

sleb1 · 19/11/2009 20:59

Dear all

I had my first scan today at 7 weeks. I was awake at 4 am, went to the loo and started spotting. Awful thoughts of loosing this little fella kept me awake. Suffice to say I was expecting the worse, but there he/she was, with a heartbeat and everything. Evidently a little on teh small side and they are going to scan again next week just to be on the safe side. Just amazing.(grin) It must have been the trigger I needed because within an hour of teh scan I fely exhausted, have suffered from feeling really sick, needing to eat every hour or son and been very hormonal ( had to stop myself crying on the tube today at the thought of thsi time next year getting ready for our first Christmas together) It didn't help that I had to travel from Brighton up North today for work. However I feel mighty relieved that everything is ok. For all of you thinking about an early scan do it - it will put your mind at ease if you are anything like me.

Night night all

CurlyCasper · 19/11/2009 21:01

welcome and congrats little sevans I am still temping, but it can be scary as I've had a couple of dips - one below the coverline! seems like that is not unusual though, and it's a sustained drop we should worry about. Most sites I've read say ditch the thermometer and stop worrying!

Seeing GP a week today (at exactly six weeks), then private scan Dec 7 (I'll be 7+5 I think)

peeing a lot - but i did that anyway. fewer cramps than before but boy have I been feeling the cold! Had some funny tum feelings that make me think sickness is not far off...

Been googling early scan images tonight - i did not know you could see so much so soon! . Just praying we make it safely to the scan and beyond, so I can make my Christmas announcement

WickedWitchSouthWest · 19/11/2009 21:29

berberis, is there a sick room you could go to? most big offices have one oh an my boobs reached the dizzying heights of 36GG. However the actual timeline is this: 32C starting point - 36C thru pg - 36GG bf - 32B after bf but was also a whole stone lighter so can't comlain lol...I'm up to 36C but starting to spill out so up to a D next week I think.

violet - it was NOT funny lol. oh firerise, I'm sure it's actually not more painful than usual, it's just I'd left it 6 weeks and what with the pg hormones sending my hair growth mental, there was quite alot to do going 4 weeks next time so will see! I wimped out in my last pregnancy completely, but with this being a summer baby I don't think that's an option! Plus if I get retained placenta again the thought of another roomful of ppl peering at my unkempt fanjo makes me feel quite nauseous!

welcome littlesilver! sevans yep, 6 weeks it is! That's when there's a massive development spurt

curly I have a 10 wk scan on 7 December! V excited

Have a huge announcement to make: I ATE FRUIT. Yes indeed, a whole apple, satsuma and even a pear (I hate pears normally). This is first. I actually feel loads better today so maybe the extra vitamins from the fruit have helped I've even eaten my dinner!

Tummy is embarrassingly massive, and getting hard too! Those scary thoughts about twins have come back again....please god no!
