wickedwitch yay ! We're in foal together!

I have my first (ever) appointment with the midwife next Tuesday - I'll be just 6 weeks and not sure whether they'll dildocam me or not - I suppose if it's in the room why not? I shall emphasise my age and neurosis and demand to be dildoed!

fairy I was off the fags since Sat and had one last night - made me want to barf and I got horrible guilts. Maybe that's the trick? Stay off the fuckers for a few days and then when you have one you just think "grooooooooo"

My boobs are starting to increase in size - the real reason they're doing this is that 3 weeks ago I spent more on lingerie in one day than I've spent in the last 12 months.

Wonderstuff · 18/11/2009 08:49

Well I really struggled to get out of bed and am shattered, despite actually having a decent nights sleep, DD slept til 6.40 - amazing, telling everyone I was up half the night to explain my obvious tiredness.

Feeling queasy in the mornings and generally a bit rotten, but manageing to eat regularly and haven't been actually sick yet, so vast improvement on pgs 1 and 2 were I lost weight during the first tri. Haven't actually weighed myself since before dd was born ('lost' my scales during that pg) so no idea if I'm putting on weight. I absolutly balloon after dinner though, my tummy sticks right out, think I will have to tell people before 12 weeks as I think it might start to look a bit obvious, hopefully the kids won't notice.

Don't know what the PCT policy is on swine flu vaccines in my area, but work in school and so want to get it, thought of flu on top of being pg is just yuck. Thanks for the post yesway, really helpful.

Best get back to work

NorkyButNice · 18/11/2009 10:04

Good luck today Firerise - I hope they find your bean snuggled in safely in the right place.

My nausea is bad first thing in the morning, gets better with breakfast, then builds up again throughout the day. By bedtime I'm struggling to keep down my dinner and have been going to bed by 9 for the last week or so!

NorkyButNice · 18/11/2009 10:12

Oh I have a "what would you do" question for you all.

My sister is getting married on August 13th next year and I'm one of her two bridesmaids. I'm due on July 16th and really don't know whether it's realistic to think I'll be able to do my duties.

Say baby is a couple of weeks late (and worst case I ended up with a C-section), then I'd have a 2/3 week old to look after - yes DH would help but he's not going to be able to breast-feed obviously! Any bridesmaid dress isn't likely to be BF friendly either.

We weren't planning on telling anyone till Xmas that I'm pregnant, but should I give her as much notice as possible that I may not be able to do it?

Champagneforlunch · 18/11/2009 10:14

I've not had any problems sleeping, although getting the weirdest dreams already, Frankie Boyle was in one the other night????
Had a night out planned for my birthday last night, mum taking both the girls for the night, meal at posh resturant, then the theatre and a couple of drinks (or coffees in my case) at the bar near by. Managed the meal and the theatre but had to come home as I was so tired. Not helped by the fact I have a stinking cold thanks to Dd2(just drank a mug of beechams before wonderning if I should acually take it).
wickedwitchsouthwest I thought I was bad for having started looking at prams. In my defence I was thinking about seling my gecko before I used the seat unit and buying something like a phil and teds. But Dd needs to be in the seat alreday so will get as much use out of it as possible before now trading it in.
firesrise hope you get some answers today, fingers crosssed.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 18/11/2009 11:35

Hi kk I know what you mean about feeling rough! It's a good sign tho, we've just got to remind ourselves of that Cramps after sex is normal - all your ligaments and muscles are softer and more pliable than normal, they're also stretching out so when you use them, be it sex or lifting things you will get a bit crampy. Only worry if it's very bad pain and with red blood. Look, re the smoking, you're doing the best you can. Keep going and cutting back I've got booking in the same day as my scan = 7 December and I can't wait

ski!!! I missed your bfp! Oh, so pleased to see you here too Demand the dildocam! From 6 wks they might be able to see the heart... My boobs are about to hit another cup size up, I'm going to look more page 3 than pregnant at this rate!

Wonderstuff my dh is enjoying laughing at my belly at night - it's stupidly huge. I've ordered some maternity jeans from DP's since I really can't get into any of mine already

norky yes I would confide in her now. She's your sister after all A 2/3 wk old is such hard work and will probably be attached to your boob more often than not - the hen night would be pretty hard work! I'd tell her now (I'm sure she'll be thrilled for you) and maybe you could still be involved in the ceremony by giving a nice reading?

champagne what a shame about your birthday night out...at least you made the theatre. My 30th is in May - I'm going to be very fat and grumpy by then!

Have I done the wrong thing buying the pram? I just love it and it won't be stored in the house, but it will be in the garage. Then when we've moved the old man's office at Christmas I'll put the carry cot in the room so it doesn't get garage-musty!

Good luck Firerise

Spirael · 18/11/2009 11:55

Morning everyone. How is everyone doing today? Hopefully you feel bad or not, depending on your preferences at the moment. Also, hello to everyone new that's appeared over the last few days! [Waves to Sevans]

Mild panic here over the last day or two with some light spotting (At exactly the same point my MC started last time around - argh!) but I've had nothing further for 24 hours now so fingers crossed it was just some belated implantation bleeding working its way out of my system, or something. The symptoms had faded, but I'm definitely back to having an achy chest now, so I'm taking that as a good sign!

Anyway, on a different note I have a request: Will someone reassure me that eating the occasional alcoholic truffle is not going to cause any problems in the first trimester??

The reason I'm asking is that my sweetheart of a DH bought a really nice "Truffles for Two" advent calendar from Hotel Chocolat for us to share in December and to cheer me up. However, some of the truffles are alcoholic. I've been working really hard to stay completely tee-total... But I don't want his gift to go to waste - and eating the chocs would be pretty nice too.

I've been restraining myself from buying anything baby related yet, telling myself that the post-Christmas sales are definitely the way forward, since I'll have reached 12 weeks by then and hopefully have had a scan. I'll also have mostly ruled out the possibility of multiple births by then, though they don't run in my family so I should be ok.

However I have set up wishlists at Amazon and Mothercare for what I want and keep adding to them when I feel the urge. I've also picked out prams and stuff and currently I'm pondering the decorating for the nursery...

skihorse · 18/11/2009 12:11

Spirael You're being mad. I hope this helps! x I think alcoholic truffles are probably as alcoholic as cans of shandy we used to drink as children which contained 0.000003% alcohol.

GibbonInARibbon · 18/11/2009 12:43

The chocs will be fine

yesterday was a bad one for me but not so much nausea today thank God. Anyone else getting dreadful headaches?

Have my scan dates through, booked a private thinking NHS would not come before Christmas but got a letter with a date the week before private one so really pleased. Going to keep private one as it is so detailed and has 75% accuracy with regards to the sex at 12 weeks

GibbonInARibbon · 18/11/2009 12:43

oh and please excuse my rudeness, welcome newbies and congrats!

kkfairybrains · 18/11/2009 12:45

violet im in stitches here thinkin about u lying on the bathroom floor! have to say i was the same last week once and was thinkin if dp didnt know any better he'd think i was on something!
skihorse yeah that sounds like a plan but its just stayin off them thats the prob! started reading 'the only way to stop smoking' and its hard to read but gonna persevere! also feel ya on the boobs front! mine have gone humongous! popppin out of my 34e bras but real reluctant to buy anythin bigger yet cos feel as though id b temptin fate!
norky i think u should tell her.i dont think 1 person told will hurt and at least its some1 who'l get excited with u and its one more person 2 b able to talk 2!
thanks 4 that advise wickedwitch puts my mind at ease! as soon as i told dp about pains he just said 'right no more sex then'! i was like'noooooooooo thats not wat i meant' but he said he feels really bad as if its him inflictin the pain on me! wish i never said anythin now!
spireal i really dont think u should worry its purely the taste in the truffles and if they were to have any effect whatsoever alcohol wise they would have the age limit on them.its like baileys cheesecake! really dont b beatin urself up about the small things. everything in moderation and all that! im allowing myself the odd drink.flyin to london 2moro for a cousins party friday night and plannin on having 2 or 3 bottles over the course of the night 1.cos the doctors say that the occasional drink wil do no harm and 2. i wont raise any suspisions cos i am known 2 have a good time and love my nights out and never do it without drink!

kkfairybrains · 18/11/2009 12:50

gibbon yeah the odd day id have really bad headache all day but not everyday.mybe 3 times since i found out. r u hoping to find out the sex already! ah wish i could do it but dp is totally against finding out so not even gonna mention it!cant wait 4 a scan! only 4 weeks at the most hopefully! dont mind as long as i have it 4 christmas day!glad ur feeling bit better 2day

WickedWitchSouthWest · 18/11/2009 12:58

oo gibbon are you going to find out the sex at 12 weeks? How exciting! We're going to have another surprise but I'm a bit grumpy about the slightly rubbish nursery sets for unisex. Any ideas where to look for some interesting ones?!

I've had a couple of headaches - took some paracetamol for one (on advice of a pharmacist) since I was feeling completely incapable but it was pointless and didn't make a difference at all.

lol at spireal! love the sound of the calendar though, I might get one for me & dh I guess if I order it now it should arrive by the 1st

kk oof I can't entertain the thought of alcohol at the mo! Hoping to feel like a nice glass of red with xmas dinner though!

I'm a bit at being the thread mentalist in having bought something as massive as a pram already! I'll be getting stuff in the winter sales too - hoping to get nursery decoration then.

Just stuffed 5 mini sausage rolls in my face...this is what I did with dd too. Another girl then??

skihorse · 18/11/2009 13:07

wicked I'll be buying everything I need in the January sales but my excuse is that I'm tight, not menkul!

Wonderstuff · 18/11/2009 13:20

wicked Ikea do some nice unisex bits I think. We have recently brought some nice duvet covers for dd's cot there.

Truffles definitly fine, 2 units a week is not known to have any negative effects in the first trimester and 4 units in the second and third (though not all at once). I think you would have to eat the whole calandar to get close to half a unit tbh.

I would tell your sister norky, is a diffcult one, nothing being certain in the first trimester, but the logistics of getting a dress to fit 3 weeks post partum will be a nightmare.

I'm trying to get the balance of making decisions based on the fact I am not certain to have a baby in June, yet have good chance of carrying baby to term. Can't remember the research I read but I'm sure the likelyhood of carrying to term even after one mc is over 90%. I'm sticking to part time hours at the moment but signing up to a training course that runs until June..

I hate this bit - just want to know it will all be fine. When I had a mc I planned loads, thought about names, worked out where the cot would go, wandered round mothercare, and I'm sure that doing those things made it worse when we lost the baby. I feel quite confident I feel better than I have before in pg but still feel sick. Dunno, its a nightmare

Firerise · 18/11/2009 13:28

I'm back from the hospital and not out of the woods yet but things are definitely looking up. They have confirmed that it is not ectopic and we actually saw our little bean on the scan. They did warn us still high risk of mc cos of levels.

The consultant first said she didn't thisnk with my low hcg that she would see anything but we saw the sac and yolk! YAYYYYY!!!!

Going back for another scan in 10 days so hopefully, fingers crossed and touch wood that all will be ok!

yesway · 18/11/2009 13:36

hooray for firerise.

GibbonInARibbon · 18/11/2009 13:58

Wonderful Firerise!!! am so pleased for you

lmao at WWSW and her at pram buying I did giggle but in a very affectionate way and I think it's FAB you got a lovely new pram

With DD we did not want to know the sex at all but we are torn this time. I got the nursery set from John Lewis last time, not sure what their ranges are like now?

I have eaten like a bastard today in an attempt to stave off the morning sickness. It has helped but I feel like gluttony personified

GibbonInARibbon · 18/11/2009 13:59

annnnnd I'm back to my emoticon overload.

givecarrotsachance · 18/11/2009 14:04

FIRERISE Brilliant news. As you say, it's not entirely 100% tops but much, much better than it may have been. I'm really pleased for you.

norky agree with everyone else. Tell her. If I was the sister I'd want to know.

Feeling lots of discomfort down below today. Has been on and off but today has come back again. Boobs bigger and sore but no nausea at all - just not really fancying food much.

Total babybrain going on. Can't think at all.

Spirael · 18/11/2009 14:13

Thanks all for your words of wisdom regarding my Truffle Trauma. I will definitely partake in the tasty goodness then, and not feel guilty about it!

Roll on December 1st...

lazyemma · 18/11/2009 14:14

hurrah firerise! that sounds like very promising news - hope things continue to improve HCG-wise.

sevans · 18/11/2009 15:13

Hello spireal and curly...my dear old friends!

I am officially all the way in the door now. Got the results from my blood test and it confirmed my BFP! My doctor is supposed to call me today with further instructions.

It is going to take me forever to read this whole thread and catch up with you ladies! For the time being, I will just read the more recent posts and pretend that I know you all already!

What a fun journey this will be!

violetbubbles · 18/11/2009 15:13

Oh I'm so relieved & pleased for you firerise - everything seems to be moving in the right direction with your little bean!

kkfairybrains - Happy to make you laugh!

Glad to hear we've cleared up the truffle query, spirael - I'll add them to my list of things that should be ok to eat over Xmas. I'm googling all of my food choices at the moment. It's difficult trying to remember which are safe or unsafe foods. And there seems to be lots of myths / old wives tales as well Confused.

iggypiggy · 18/11/2009 15:23

violet I just follow this list of foods from the FSA:

FSA Eating in Pregnancy

plus am allowing myself red lion stamped eggs and not worrying too much apart from that

Can I just add the caveat that I am so para about losing a second pregnancy that I may be over cautious

Firerise excellent news!
