Evening! And congratulations to the new thread arrivals!

I've had such a busy day today, but managed to get a lot done so can relax into my weekend knowing I've made next week a little easier. When I read that some of you have been going to the GPs, I thought, oh yes, I'll call tomorrow, then realised today is Friday... where did this week just go?!

I can't believe I'm feeling sick this early, I wasn't nauseous last time until around 8 weeks (just as I was starting to wonder if I was going to get away with it!), so it feels odd to have it so early. Does this mean it's a girl? Or twins? Or just different? Who knows!

And I've started drifting into the baby names threads.... that way lies the road to madness...

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 21:33

Don't. Mention. The. T. Word!

ApuskiDusky · 06/11/2009 21:41

Ah, yes, WWSW, your very strong early bfp, indicating high HCG levels.....

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 22:07

watch it apuski! There are no twins anywhere in the family and therefore it would be a complete freak of nature if it were to happen. So it won't . (Dying to know what is going on in there though...)

ApuskiDusky · 06/11/2009 22:17

Just checked the pregnancy bible, it's a 1 in 80 probability apparently. I can't be smug, there are twins in my family.....

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 22:18

lol it's more likely to be you then!

WhatSheSaid · 06/11/2009 22:22

My gp asked me if there were any twins in my family when I went to see her...I think it's because I got a BFP at 3wk and 4 days since my last period...I put the early BFP down to having a short cycle, it was this early with dd too. I did say somehting to her like "Don't scare me like that!"

Congrats and welcome to all the newcomers, I guess we'll get quite a few more as the due dates are only up to half way through July so far.

Right, off to get ready for the wedding we're going to this afternoon, it's a lovely warm sunny day. Don't get too envious though - you'll all have lovely summer babies while I'll have a winter one.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 22:25

oh thats ok then whatshesaid, this bfp showed up 3 wks 2 days after first day of period, hopefully it's just a good strong beanie! I have no idea with dd coz I stopped taking the pill and just never got a cycle...because I was pregnant lol. That doesn't make you popular with the health care professionals though

beaufies · 06/11/2009 22:36

Good Evening Ladies and welcome and congrats to our new comrades

I have had a pretty rubbish week all told so I'm glad the weekend is here. I have had a stinking cold and with DS being just a year old he doesn't slow up because I'm feeling ill and tired. No family locally and all friends work so no help either - it's been really tough

On the positive side though I have booked an 8week scan (just to check everything is ok) and my booking appointment with the midwife so made some progress. And I don't feel sick. I'm not expecting to as I didn't when expecting DS. MS is meant to be due to nutritional deficiencies and as I take so many supplements I rattle I hope and expect to get away with it again

Another moan - I have a blog that I was planning to do a series of posts on about TTC, pregnancy etc and was really looking forward to doing it but have felt so rank this week that I haven't got around to it

I'll finish on a lighter note...I want to buy some new maternity clothes...just a few bits to freshen up what I had last time. Can anyone recommend where to go for stylish, comfortable, flattering maternity clothes that won't break the bank ? As this will be my last pregnancy I don't want to spend very much as it won't be worn much. I would love to know your thoughts.

Off to bed now and apologies for such a largely miserable post. I promise to be cheerier tomorrow

Take care all x

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 22:42

oh beaufies what a rubbish week! I'm so glad my mum is near by I don't know how I would cope without her....

As for maternity clothes...I have H&M, Topshop and DP's from last time, oh and Red Herring t shirts. River Island are now doing maternity wear too apparently. Depends on your style I guess!

Hope you're feeling better x

WinterMadness · 07/11/2009 07:13

Morning everyone!

Gosh I'm so tired. DS was up for over an hour in the early hours he's about to turn one and only ocassionally sleeps through. I expect I'll feel better before I get worse through the first trimester - I remember how exhausted I was last time!

As for telling people...first time round only told my mother and 2 very close friends until the 12 week scan. This time however I'm not so concerned with keeping it a secret. Won't tell work till my scan though. My mother would have a fit if I didn't tell her! She's already asked 3 times if we're going to find out what we're having this time (and each time the answers 'I don't know' by the way)

Round here we don't see the doctor either. Once you get a bfp you just book an appointment with mw for AT LEAST 8 weeks. I stress that because they're so adamant they made me feel I hope I've got my dates right or they might tell me off, lol. Had big me problems with DS so not going to stand for that this time

Typing this on Iphone, feels like I've been typing forever, lol. Hope everone's ms is manageable today, have a lovely day wherever you are!

WhatSheSaid · 07/11/2009 07:29

I reckon it's up to each individual when they tell people...obviously some people wait till they are out of the first trimester and have had their scan (if they have one) but really there is no right or wrong time, it's up to each person.

I do know someone who told everyone straight away, bought the cot etc, then found out at her 12 week scan that she had had a MMC - obviously something you would tell your family and close friends about but you might not appreciate having to explaing to everyone about it.

We won't tell anyone until after the 12 week scan, I'm 38 and want to get the first trimester over, isn't it something like 90% of miscarriages are in the first trimester? So we won't be telling people till after Christmas - we had planned on a quiet Christmas Day anyway, just me, dh and dd, so I won't have to make excuses to anyone about why I'm not drinking

Firerise · 07/11/2009 08:26

Hello all, lovely to see friendly faces from the July ttc bus! [waves hello].

Would you lovely ladies mind if I join you please?

We got our BFP yesterday for our first lo and have been grinning like loons ever since! Due on 15th July according to mn calculator.

Couldn't keep it to ourselves so both sets of parents have been sworn to secrecy.

Only thing is may have to tell 2 other people as I have been asked to be a bridesmaid for 2 weddings next year...one in April and going to buy dresses in a few weeks and the other one they are looking to book a venue today for sometime in the summer. What should I do?

xoxoxo

WickedWitchSouthWest · 07/11/2009 10:59

Oh firerise lovely news! Congratulations! Feel free to add other info to the stats if you like Hmm tricky dilemma. You definitely have to tell the one who's buying the dresses, but is the other one part of the same friend group? Coz you could probably get away with leaving that one for a few more weeks if they haven't got around to dresses just yet!

As for telling everyone else, I'll wait til I've had a scan. I'm dying to tell everyone though!

Daisy2010 · 07/11/2009 12:34

Thanks for the lovely messages ladies and hello & congratulations to all the new joiners !!! I spoke with my mum about the lack of ms and she said that she didn't have any with both her children either so am hoping it stays like this ( weird I know - everyone is complaining about ms and I am complaining about lack of it!!!! )

Anyway ....I have been a bit poorly since last night - very achy throat , very very achy body - been gargling and drinking warm water...any other suggestions to get over this really rough /sick feeling? ( wish I had taken that flu jab last week !!!!! , also DH has just recovered from a very nasty bout of flu so a bit scared )

I know I cant take any OTC medication but any home remedies most welcome....

Speak soon xxx

keevamum · 07/11/2009 15:00

Can I join please? Have just got my BFP...am excited but also very scared Hopefully I will get to stay on this thread. I am completely in shock at the moment....

Firerise · 07/11/2009 16:11

Congratulations on your bfp Keeva! Daisy, lots of vitimin c - either orange juice or eat some kiwis! Hot water with honey and slice of lemon studded with a couple of cloves will help the sore throat too. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks WWSW, the first dress being bought is for my brothers wedding so don't mind telling them a bit early. Second wedding is for my best friend and just worried I will see her tonight and she will tell me they have set the date for 15th July! I think I would laugh hysterically and no one will know why! Ha ha ha

FlowerBee · 07/11/2009 18:07

Afternoon ladies! Welcome and congratulations all newbies. Firerise you made me lol with ur last post about our friend setting the date for her wedding!!

Daisy i've already told my parents and my DHs parents and my MIL told me (along with every detail of her pregnancies and births ) that she didn't have any MS with either of her two boys.

I on the otherhand am feeling unbeleivably nauseous and it's not even 6 weeks yet. So far today i have not got out of my PJs, have eaten half a piece of toast with marmite and two packets of walkers ready salted crisps!! Oh and my folic acid. Have also had a 3 hour nap and been carrying around a bucket! My DH has insisted i eat something so i am about to try some oven chips............we'll see what happens!

Celery · 07/11/2009 19:31

MS truly is the pits, flowerbee. I've had it all four times, though much worse with the girl pregnancy. I'm never sick, just badly nauseous 24 hours a day. Eating helps, try and force yourself, it usually makes you feel better, if you can keep it down. I'm surviving on orange lucozade, cheese and pickle sandwiches, bicuits and satsumas.

I just keep nibbling the

xx

Hello everyone and congratulations to all. Can I join the thread too please?

I've lurked on mumsnet for ages but hardly ever post (and since we're not planning to tell anyone in real life yet, it's even making me nervous typing here).

I look forwards to having some people to chat to over the coming months because I remember it feeling like it took ages last time!

Welcome YellowYoYo I've only told my mum and one close friend and we're not telling anyone until after scan so know how you feel and it is great being able to chat about it all on here otherwise would feel like bursting with keeping it secret from everyone!

Congrats too Keeva and firerise

Hope you feel better soon Daisy If you take Vitamin C you should take Zinc too to help the body absorb it, and gargling salt water might help your throat. I feel the same as you about the ms, almost wish I had it as a sign that things were progressing but when I do get it I'll be wishing I didn't!

Hope everyone has been having a brilliant Saturday... think I'm going to head to bed now... I'm quite the party animal since getting pg!

keevamum · 08/11/2009 07:44

Thanks for your congratulations. My due date according to the calculator thingy is 3rd July and it will be #3. Can't work out how to update all the stats though.

violetbubbles · 08/11/2009 08:54

Hi everyone!

Got my BFP last Thursday. According to the calculator on this website my due date will be 4th July 2010. This is my first so I'm both excited and petrified! Haven't told anyone yet, except DH of course . Despite TTC for the last ten months it still feels a bit unreal!

Firerise suggested I check out this thread and I'm glad that I did - great to see so many of us in the same boat!

Hope you're all having a good Sunday!
xx

violetbubbles · 08/11/2009 08:59

I've added myself to the list - hope that's ok

Sorry I have been quiet here for a while, but it looks like I might be about to leave this lovely group. It looks very likely that I am about to miscarry. I might go to the EPU this week to have it confirmed, but having been through this so many times before I am not sure whether I will go just to be told what I already know. I will not say goodbye yet, until it is confirmed, but I am not hopeful.
