Happy Friday everyone! How are we all?

I can't believe how quickly the nausea and exhaustion has come on this time - I went to bed at 8.15 last night (!) and woke up feeling really sicky

Luckily at the moment constant eating is warding it off, but my period was only due today so I'm amazed I'm feeling the effects already.

How early do we need to see the midwife? When do you get your first scan?? In New York I was given a vaginal scan at 6.5 weeks but I can't imagine they'll do that over here!

GibbonInARibbon · 06/11/2009 10:01

Hello all!

Norky, I would make an appointment with your GP, I have mine today funnily enough. Not much usually happens but you are put onto the system for a booking in appointment with a midwife (that is what happens here) your GP will be able to advise what you need to do.

Nausea started here a little yesterday and today, starting to get that excess saliva (sorry if TMI) and weird taste in my mouth.

Hope everyone is well and thinking of you LC today, hope all goes well with your mum

Have a good day all

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 10:56

Morning all!

Good luck today latest

norky ditto gibbon...I've had a brief appointment with the mw to get me on the system and to throw leaflets at me. I'll get a scan between 8 and 12 weeks and another mw appt to do the bloods (argh) etc at 10 weeks. And then because it's a second baby I'll get largely ignored!

Oh yesterday they wanted to know where I wanted to give birth

Quick q from me, what's everyone eating to get through the sickness? It's come on with a vengenace this morning It's salt for me, just eaten some ready salted crisps and feel way better. Probably not a long term solution tho!!

NorkyButNice · 06/11/2009 11:04

Thanks WWSW and gibbon - I've got an appt with my doctor next Friday so will be 5 weeks then.

We're going to moving house early next year so I've no idea where I'm going to be giving birth!

So far today I've eaten a croissant, a bowl of Greek yoghurt with granola, and a packet of Hula Hoops. Not to mention 4 cups of decaf tea and gallons of water.

FlowerBee · 06/11/2009 11:10

Ugh, feeling as sick as a parrot! Nausea seems to be a constant companion now. I'd love to stuff my face but just feel much too green at the moment.

Norky, I also went to bed ridiculously early last night - 8:30pm and my DH thought i was insane.

Also, bless him, DH was cooking (make that, attempting to cook and really just making an ungodly mess in the kitchen) chicken soup "for you" last night, and i had to feign delight whilst trying not to inhale the cooking smells. Ick! Gibbon i also have the excess saliva thing which just adds to the joy of nausea!

WWSW its lovely that your midwife remembers you DD. I am looking forward to seeing my GP next week to get on the antenatal bandwagon! Yes - salt seems to be the way forward for me too, especially ready salted crisps! I'm not sure how useful that will be for baby this week since it's building its' heart! Oh well, i'm sure it'll find some protein from somewhere.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 11:20

ergh I can't shake it this morning...dd wants to walk home from school today (it's a half hour walk, so an hour for me there and back!) but I feel too rubbish...plus it's freezing and damp today!

flower my house smells of veg chilli (cooked it last night for tonight)and it's turning my stomach!

norky I wonder how they'll sort your care out? I'm not sure why they need to know where you want to give birth and this stage.

FactsAndFigures · 06/11/2009 13:56

Hi, may I join you?

Waves to all those from the July bus

After 2 BFNs last week I recieved a BFP yesterday Albeit, one line was lighter than the other but a BFP none the less!

I decided to POAS yesterday as I had dull achey tummy cramps and remembered I had this early PG with DC#1. I'm sat with a hot water bottle on me again today as it's still very achey.

I'm not too sure when to make a Drs appointment as I had an abnormal cycle last month 39 days instead of the normal 28. My LMP started 1 October, which if I had reverted back to 28 days this month I would have been 5wks yesterday or -3 days if it were to be another 39 day cycle.

Anyway that's all about me - sorry for wittling on

GibbonInARibbon · 06/11/2009 17:43

Welcome F&F and congrats!

Doctor gave me same due date and did my full booking in which I wasn't expecting, got my mat record book and he said should hear by 10 weeks with a date for first scan. So now it's look at the calendar till scan day

Hope everyone had had a good day

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 18:00

Congratulations f&f! We'll have to add you to our list when you get yourself an edd God knows how to sort that one out though! I'd get in touch with the gp sooner rather than later so they can get a dating san lined up for you

gibbon I've got my book too! Juliet (mw) said "look they've revamped the books!" I said "they're still massive though aren't they?"! WHY do they have to be so huge?!

Still feel sick...

Irishfairy · 06/11/2009 18:20

Hi everyone!

Welcome F&F and congratulations!

to all those suffering from ms. I'm still waiting to feel sick... expecting it any day now. I have had an out of control appetite and feel starving every half hour! Today have developed a liking for really sour satsumas, have had 6 so far and surely will have a couple more before bed

I went to my GP on Tues and like Gibbon and WWSW she didn't do too much. I scheduled my booking in app with the mw for November 26th which seems like an eternity away especially considering how slow the past week has gone!

Also I'll be 12 weeks on the 24th Dec so I really want my scan before Christmas since DH and I are going back to Ireland on 23rd and we'd like to be able to tell everyone, all going well. Do you think if I ask the mw she'll be able to try book me in for the scan before we travel? Or are they usually not accommodating like that? I suppose it can't hurt to ask anyway

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 18:25

Hiya irishfairy, my area doesn't do standard 12 wk scans anymore, they do a general dating scan between 8 and 12 wks. Did you get your maternity notes given to you? Mine has a schedule of care in it. If not, give the mw a call and ask what the policy is! If you explain the circumstances they might well swing it for you

Hello All!!!

Can I join too?

Tested a couple of weeks back but just hasn't sunk in - we started trying a couple of months back and now its actually happened!!!

I am due on the 3rd of July and its my first pg. Due to have my first antenatal appointment with the GP on the 17th ..... nervous and excited at the same time. (No family around so any tips around what to ask etc most welcome ....)

No morning sickness yet ( hope that's normal...) but feel quite tired and super achy boobs!!!

signing off now ... take care all you lovelies

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 19:18

Congratulations daisy! It appears that EVERYTHING is normal in pregnancy!! Only worry if you have bright red blood with cramping otherwise embrace the weirdness! There probably won't be any need to ask q's at your first appointment - you'll be too busy answering them! Make sure you know your medical history back to front lol. There's alot of us here having the second or subsequent so ask away

GibbonInARibbon · 06/11/2009 19:40

Congrats Daisy! as the lovely and wise WWSW said everything is normal in pregnancy, some have lots of symptoms, some have little or none

And yes WWSW the books are HUGE whar an earth do they need all those pages for?

I have just eaten a huge dinner and feel bloated now, going to relax a bit then early night (now there's a shock )

grumpypumpkin · 06/11/2009 20:17

Hello!
Mind if I join you? Just found out I am up the duff with my first! According to MN calculator I am due on 15th July. No idea how accurate that is as I have really long cycles that have been getting shorter so won't know anything more exact until scans I expect.

Think I am 5 weeks (since last period- is that the right way to calculate?)

Have a few fluttery/crampy feelings and sore boobies, bit of dizziness, no sickness.

Very excited and can't think about anything else at the moment!!

I am seeing my parents tomorrow and desperate to tell them, what is the norm and is this too ridiculously early to spill the beans?

Nice to meet you all!!

NorkyButNice · 06/11/2009 20:23

Congrats to all the newcomers! I'm looking forward to the next 8 months with you all

We told the parents at 6 weeks last time as we couldn't wait to share the news. This time we're a bit more relaxed about it (not to mention more paranoid about things going wrong for some reason) so will be waiting till Xmas.

lazyemma · 06/11/2009 20:28

congratulations to all newbies (well, newbie-er than me anyway, I only said hello yesterday)

Daisy I didn't have morning sickness at all during my last pregnancy, and spent the entire time worrying that wasn't normal! But if you're going to get it, I think it's still quite early days for morning sickness anyway.

grumpypumpkin not sure what the norm is but I told my parents last time at 5 weeks too. I figured that if anything went wrong I'd want family support anyway. As it happened, we only made it to about 7 weeks before telling absolutely everyone else and I'm going to try not to do that this time.

Although! My brother-in-law and his missus came round for dinner tonight and told us they're 7 weeks pregnant with their first. We dithered a bit and then told them our news too - would have felt weird otherwise, even though I'm still only just preg. Now terrified that something will go wrong for one of us and it'll be hideously awkward all round.

Still a little crampy, but today is mostly about the BLOAT. I've been trumping merrily away all evening (apologies if TMI)

grumpypumpkin · 06/11/2009 20:39

I know lazyemma, if someone told me that they were preggers I would deffo have to spill the beans too.

I was out with some friends last night and they were making jokes about me being pregnant (they have been suspicious ever since I admitted I was off the pill) and I was itching to tell but could not tell anyone before my parents. They may have also been suspicious by the fact I was tired, not drinking (v. unusual!!!!) and eating remegel for my killer trapped wind!

Ridiculously excited- congrats everyone, and heres to the next nine months/40 weeks/ however long this thing takes

MelissaM · 06/11/2009 20:41

Hi All

Mind if I join in too? Got my BFP this morning (after having a sudden realisation last night that AF was few days late). Been trying for over a year. Due date is 14th
July (6 days after DDs 3rd B'day. The news hasn't sunk in yet and feel fine, if a little tired.

Congrats to everyone else.

I can't remember when my morning sickness started with DD. About 5 or 6 wks, but it went on forever, so not looking forward to that! We told parents on Christmas Day as coincided with 12wk date. My mum wasn't happy though - she thought we should have told her straight away. Will probably wait again as with my family this Christmas too. Will expect unhappy mum again though as my brother and his wife drove round to my parents as soon as they got BFP.

grumpypumpkin · 06/11/2009 20:53

Yes, I don't want the folks to be upset I have not told them early, but am a teeny bit worried that my mum (a very practical, pragmatic woman) will say "oh thats very early, don't get excited, anything can happen" etc etc and piss all over my bonfire. (topical! )Then I will have an almighty strop and flounce out of the restaurant and be in tears on the tube.... Am I overthinking this one?

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 21:03

Helloooo all! Wow we're getting busy!

Congrats to all the new bfp's!

I've told my parents, the in-laws and sisters as well as a couple of close friends who knew we were trying and having trouble. Basically my parents live round the corner from us and all help is invaluable! If I'm feeling really ill I'll need my mum to help me with dd Also we're going on hol with the outlaws and dh's sisters so I'm planning on sitting on my bum for a week!

Oh I've felt soooo ill today! Nausea seems to have passed a little now and as long as I keep eating and drinking I'm ok. It started at 10am this morning!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/11/2009 21:06

grumpypumpkin lol! my mum has a similar attitude re it being early but she's gone the other way and is insisting on my looking after myself and resting as much as possible to hold onto Beanie! I think we've all been freaked out at how strong my symptoms are and how early we found out! (had progesterone tests on cd24 of 31 day cycle and they came back bfp). I think it's because there weren't really over the counter hpt's, you HAD to go to the gp so you left it til you were absolutely certain!
