tasjaSAmuminSA · 26/10/2009 09:46

Hi everyone

sorry that I've been so quiet. Have been busy with my learners reports at school the last couple of weeks and went on maternity leave 2 weeks earlier.

have been to hospital since I couldn't keep anything down thanks to the phlegm that makes me vomit all the time. Feeling better now just coughing still but not so much.

Had contractions last night. was very sore. didn't sleep the whole night. just from 5-7 this morning. Think it was false labour pains. Was 3-10min apart and lasting10-30 seconds.

Adding myself

tasjaSAmuminSA dd 26th Nov; 36+4

Congrats to all of you who had your darling babies already

tasjaSAmuminSA · 26/10/2009 09:49

Katster I have frozen milk before (not in glass obv!) and don't think it tastes quite the same but perfectly usable for tea etc.

Fingers crossed for Erika! My BH's have completely gone now but not without helping my DH to realise that we are having a baby, and soon, so they were v useful!!

Poor ninja, hope all isd well now, can you nominate another day as your bday and start all over again?!

I am seeing the midwife today, and looking forward to her opinion on position, as I am really uncomfortable under my ribs again. I know exactly what you all mean when you say about the baby being transverse, sometimes I can feel hard bits and both sides!! Midwife has always found a head low down though, so I am trying not to worry.

Hope the day pans out well for all!

Ooh, getting close now! Made the mistake of reading the 'what do contractions feel like?' thread on the Birth section of talk. Other first timers DO NOT READ IT! Full of the worst kind of horror stories. Lots of pain oneupmanship.

Ninja Well done for talking yourself out of the hospital and rescuing your birthday. It would have been miserable if you'd had to stay in all day. Of course, the main thing is that you and LO are fine.

Lissy Loving the sound of your weekend with DH. Just sounds so relaxing and full of fun. We've only just drawn a line under the DIY, tonight we put away the tools and do the cleaning up. Hope we can go out for a meal if baby holds on for another couple of days.

Laugs Tee-hee at the cherry lips in the loo! Just fabulously random.

Had a practice with the TENS machine last night. It's a weird feeling, isn't it? Still feels unreal that I'll be using it for real in the next week or two....

katster37 · 26/10/2009 10:17

Erika just wanted to say thinking of you and I am SURE you will be fine. A wriggly baby is a happy baby according to my midwife. Let us know how you get on.

Pootle I don't get the bits you can feel around your tummy- it's mad! I suppose there must be bits all over by now though, but it would be so good to have some sort of camera whereby you could spy on them a bit!!

Three babies from my antenatal class have now been born -one was born at 37 weeks so I am holding out hope!

BeepBeep THANKS for the sling info - looks v easy. I don't think I have the perseverance for a wrap one to be honest, so that ones looks perfect. Thank you!!

katster37 · 26/10/2009 10:18

Laugs - ha about the cherry lips in the toilet!!! That is just what I would do!! In fact, knowing me, I would already have gone to the labour ward and announced I was in labour

ursigurke · 26/10/2009 10:48

katster, nothing else unusual. rather the opposite. I think I've mentioned it before but I have started to get heartburn again and I didn't have it for weeks. So it doesn't really feel as if she ever wants to come out. Well, the other reason might be that she is just getting bigger and bigger... or maybe she has just very long legs. That's my favourite reason for it.
I don't actually mind being still pregnant even though sometimes it is uncomfortable. But it annoys me to not know when it actually happens. I want a date and a time!!!! (When I told my mum, she just said something like: Oh really, do you!? - seems I'm not the first one with that problem)

katster37 · 26/10/2009 11:24

Usigurke If you find out how to get the exact date and time, let me know!! Just heard of another friend from antenatal class who had a baby yesterday, at exactly 37 weeks, so am trying to figure out if this makes it more likely that mine will be 37 weeks!! MW didn't seem to think many babies arrived before 39 weeks though, so am not holding out much hope for a while yet. Still, it gives me time to get that washing done and iron a few bits. Hope the heartburn is not too bad. Are you swigging the Gaviscon?

southernbelle77 · 26/10/2009 11:33

Note to self: Must remember to do pelvic floor exercises! Nearly wet myself reading your 'cherry lips' story laugs Erika I'm sure all will be fine. It's totally understandable to worry, but Bryn is moving about lots which is a great sign. Good luck and we are all here to virtually hold your hand.

ursigurke I had really bad heartburn all the way to the end of my pregnancy with dd so it doesn't always go when baby has dropped! It's bloody horrible though and as I have it again this time, I can sympathise with you.

Really hope my Tesco shop turns up soon. After the sickness this morning I am now feeling famished but we have practically nothing in the house until the food arrives!! I'm shattered already having already done loads with dd - we've made jelly, made bead bracelets for her and two of her friends, and made cards for them too. We have played Littlest Pet Shop top trumps and have finally got her to sit down and watch Barbie magic of the Rainbow so I can come on here!!

katster37 · 26/10/2009 11:57

Wow southerbelle your DD has a lovely mummy! I want to make bead bracelets - I wonder if my little boy will be into that?!

After my mad exertion from 7.30am this morning, I have worn myself out and may need an afternoon nap! Ooo I love half term!

Eek, consultant appointment at 2.20, to discuss the fact that I have changed my mind and now want a section. It is the obvious choice according to the NICE guidelines, given my history, but a couple of weeks ago they still hadn't got my notes from DDs birth, so I am worried that they will try and persuade me into a VBAC.

Is it wrong that I am kind of hoping they find a reason to give me a section today? Nothing harmful to the baby or anything, just something that requires her to be born as a precaution would be good. Feeling loads better in myself, I'm mainly just bored and impatient now!

Laugs you can bf in a wrap of sling without anybody seeing anything. It's fantastic. I was bf and doing other stuff at the same time, which is bit strange feeling but given all the time you spend bf, v. useful.

I bought a bunch of used VHS Disney movies ob ebay to entertain dd in a pinch..but lots of them a kind of scary at times. Cinderella, Aristocats, robin Hood have not had v scary witches or tigres in them...Snowwhite is just plain weird.

Sorry everybody, just got up and cannot remember anything anybody wrote or what I meant to report from my exciting life....Will have some coffee. All the best to everybody for today!

scarlotti · 26/10/2009 13:17

Mum has just headed off home. Was hoping the baby might have made an appearance as now she'll drive the 5 hours back just to still be on stand by to come back here!
Nothing I could have done but now I hope that he at least gives them a few days at home to relax before making me summon them!!

Getting all sorts of twinges here. Every time I stand up I get a pain in the front of my bits not sure if that's a pelvic thing or not. Heartburn has reappeared over the last week or two, pretty certain it's down to a growing baby and a small mum. DS was born with bent feet as they hadn't had any room so had been squished! They're fine now!
Turning over in bed has become a real mission, I can literally feel 7lbs of baby and heaps of water sloshing about inside while I turn. And my poor hips are struggling to support my weight when I sleep on my side - feel like I should be sent to the knackers yard!!!

Tamlin · 26/10/2009 13:22

If it's any consolation, people, I've found that my pelvic pain has disappeared now that the baby is actually OUT. No more SPD, and my hips are only a bit achy. I didn't even realize until DH commented that I was sitting cross-legged to nurse the baby, and I haven't been able to separate my legs that far without pain for months.

Arthur is feeding like a champion - no latch problems or nipple pain at all this time around - but he's also at it every hour and a half around the clock. Last night, I pumped 5 oz and handed a bottle to DH so I could sleep between 9 and midnight - he came and woke me apologetically at 11.30, saying 'I'm sorry but he sucked back all 5 oz and he's still asking for more!' I wonder if this is because he's a bit on the early side..?

Trikken · 26/10/2009 13:24

sounds like he's just got a good appetite. good to hear he's doing well, and that you are feeling better.

Fruitpastels · 26/10/2009 13:30

Scarlotti I feel just like you and I'm feeling rather sorry for myself.

Just popped to Sainsburys and my bits were hurting so much, I was so worried that my waters would break and having DS with me. I've felt like this for over a week now and it's hard to venture anywhere.

I am going to make Kyte's cookies in a moment, DS is looking forward to getting messy in the kitchen. I'm being a complete tidy freak and will be stressing out over all the flour and sugar going everywhere!

Just to let you lovely ladies know. Saninsburys have an offer on their New Covent Garden soups £1 per carton on most of their flavours - bargain! You can freeze them for a month, but I would imagine in a tupperware and not the carton.

Laugs · 26/10/2009 13:33

Aw I love the name Arthur. I quite fancy Artie/ Arty as a nickname too

comma thanks for the info about slings. I actually liked not being able to do anything else when I was feeding last time, but I'm guessing now with DD to run around after I won't have that luxury. Which sling did you have?

DD and I are off to my mum and dad's this afternoon until Friday. Really looking forward to it, though I'll be glad when the train journey is over. I rang the station this morning to ask if someone can help me on the train. I explained the situation: heavily pregnant, toddler, suitcase and pushchair and they said I could ask at the station but it's really only a service for people who are elderly or disabled. That's made me really cross. I mean, surely you can either get on the train by yourself or you can't? Who is Mr Call Centre to decide that for me? And I am only asking for about three seconds of somebody's precious time.

I'm getting quite excited looking at that list and seeing the 38 and 39-weekers who could be perfectly poppable any minute now. Ooh - who's it going to be...?
