Happy Birthday Ninja!

This clock-changing is rubbish - DH enjoying a lie-in but can;t seem to get DD to understand the benefits of an extra hour in bed! Even though she's really tired as she's had a cough and stomachbug so has been throwing up for the last two nights - nice.

I'm tired too as was up yesterday with contractions at 4.30am. Got quite excited as they were quite regular for about four hours, but then all tailed off again. Hope it's all heading in the right direction though. Didn;t have any of this with DD, no BH, nothing. Waters broke with the very first cx and then it was just v long and painful until she came out.

Have almost finished all the jobs on my list (finally) so feel that actually if she came now I'm almost ready. Door is finally fixed from where we had to break in when I locked myself out, so house is a bit warmer. Although managed to take the side off my car on thursday, which is less good- must be the week for it BBL. At least it's only the paintwork, and at least it was on our own wall instead of somebody else's car, but did feel v silly. Still, in the grand scheme of all the crap we've had recently, it's just one more little thing, so refuse to worry.

Has finally stopped raining here, so hopefully can get DD out in the fresh air. Hope everyone has a good day!

EasyEggs · 25/10/2009 08:48

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NINJA !! Hope you have a lovely day

How is everyone today?

Tabby I forgot the clocks went back so when ds woke up this morning at what I thought was 7.30 it actually wasn't, oops. Made dp go get him a bottle then we all got up half an hour later. I stuck dd and ds in the bath then realised it was still only 7.30am lol!

Agree though it's a shame the little ones don't understand the need for the extra bad time!

Sounds like things are definately on the move for you with all those contractions. It's so annoying when they just stop though. I had the same with dd a a few days before I actually had her. I wasn't impressed. Fingers crossed they start up again soon.

Pav how's it going with the guest!? I can't stand having people to stay these days. I like lounging about not having to worry what I look like or who is looking at me too much to have anyone to stay. Luckily nobody has invited themselves for ages, hope you get your house back to yourselves soon

Erika good luck at your scan Monday. I bet I don't even get one. They will measure me say everything is fine and send me home!! I won't be impressed if they don't scan me as I want to know everything is ok and dp is taking the morning off which is really hard atm as they are absolutely mega packed at work and it took a lot of juggling to sort. Never mind.

Still got 2 snotty, hot, poorly dc's. Other 2 seem ok touch wood and hopefully they're over the worst of it now, seem to be a bit brighter today. Hope nobody else is ill before next week as my aunt is/was planning on bringing new baby to see us for the 1st time.I am desperate to meet her but obv if we are full of germs she can't come

Not doing much here today. Dp has to work this afternoon so I'm just getting on with the washing. I haven't done any all week and I have the most enormous washing mountain ever. Think I need to buy an extra machine to cope with it all lol.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Anyone fancy supplying us with a new arrival today?!

skorpion · 25/10/2009 08:49

Good morning!

It's a nice day here, DH has gone out on his bicycle club run. We forgot about the clocks so he got up an hour earlier. Bless him, he just came back to bed for an extra hour of cuddles.

Happy Birthday Ninjacat!!! Hope you have a smashing day.

IL are coming over for a couple of days to help out with cleaning and sorting things out. A bit strange to have MIL cleaning my windows, but my back really gives up on me after even small jobs around the house, so I've decided not to feel weird, just be thankful.

Right, off to make Kyte's cookies. Have a lovely day everyone.

weston · 25/10/2009 09:32

Happy Birthday Ninjacat hope its a good one.

DD slept till 7am (old time) usually 6:25am so was sadly thankful for a 6am get up..

Had lots of fun last nite, stomach cramps and on the toilet every couple of hours...bleurgh..am assuming must me a stomach bug but slightly concerned when 'what to expect' says its a sign of labour...sending DH &DD out for the day so hope its not! Do I need to contact midwife etc or just see how I get on today?

I seem to have moved straight into the 'cant be arsed' to do the 100 things on my list phase and bypassed the nesting/sorting phase..

EasyEggs · 25/10/2009 09:51

weston I'd just see how it goes. Possibly a tummy bug but also maybe a sign of things getting ready. I had an upset tummy for 3 days last week and was hoping it was something baby related but alas, not to be! Hope you're feeling better soon though.

Bloody hormones. I am currently very with dp and not speaking to him, why.....??

Because he went to the shops and came back with crumpets, cooked them for us and the dc's then when he gave me them I took one bite and they were so horrible I couldn't eat them, he hadn't put enough butter on them lol. So now I'm very irrationally upset and annoyed that I had no crumpets.

I can't wait to be back to normal, I expect dp can't either .....

skorpion · 25/10/2009 10:29

Ladies, if you haven't tried them yet, kyte's cookies are fab! I put some hazelnuts into mine and am currently practicing will power not to scoff the lot on my own. Thanks again, Vicar!

beepbeep · 25/10/2009 10:35

Can second Kyte's cookies being great!! hazlenuts is a good idea, may have to go out and get some more choc chips later and make some more (they didn't last long), I used mix of dark, milk & white choc chips - yum yum!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 25/10/2009 11:17

My guest is still here. He is fussing and flapping, packing up, cleaning his bike helmet, smoking 'waking up', FFS, its bloody 11:15am, which in theory is 12:15noon.

Why wont he leave? He keeps saying he will be out of our hair in an hour, but that has been hours now. GO NOW PLEASE?!!

He says he would like to come back in Feb or March...but did also say he would stay in a hotel or something as we will have a newborn. Thankfully.

{grin]

I wonder if we will see any babies arriving in the next week? We are due some i think!

weston how are you feeling now? Its difficult isn't it this stage of pg as everything is like 'is that labour signs? or a bug, or just incontinence, or just getting ready pains, or that i did too much etc etc' every twinge I am thinking is this it? And I hav weeks yet!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 25/10/2009 11:26

Oh, he appears to be going. He has left the building, but DH has not come back in yet....oh, the bike engine has just started...

Could it be true? I won't open the windows just yet

BeckyBendyLegs · 25/10/2009 12:03

I can feel it in the air - there may be some babies coming soon

DH is in a strop with me for ... cleaning the bathroom! Men! I give up. At least be in a strop for something worthwhile. Thing is, he isn't showing any signs of doing the cleaning instead so what do I do? Just let the house get scuzzy?

No babies coming from me today though - just feel the same as usual.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 25/10/2009 12:07

becky i agree, some babies are on their way! But not mine either. If it is at all possible, I feel less ready to have a baby physically in the last few days that i did before! I had been convinced he was ready to come out any time, and now I don't feel at all like he wants to come out. I actually feel, apart from tired and walking like a heavily pregnant woman, healthier than I have for the entire pregnancy!!! I have reached my glowing period! I just can't do much.

ErikaMaye · 25/10/2009 12:21

Ninja happy birthday

EasyEggs I hope they do a scan for you, am so worried about everything, so imagine you must be the same.

I had my baby shower last night I really did not want one - way too much fuss - but was actually lovely. Went out for a meal, and the Godmother-to-be had arranged a lot of really touching suprises for me. She had twizzlers for the glasses printed with "Erika's Baby Shower - 24.10.09", a little book in which everyone wrote me a message, and had everyone write a card with advice about being the age they were for Bryn. Very touching, I did cry. The restaurant were horrible though - they'd set us up on two separate tables, and then came over to blame ME for the fact they were loosing custom because we were taking up so much space I got very upset, everyone got rather angry because they upset me, so we refused to pay the service charge. I won't be going back again.

Found a total bargin in Borders yesterday - a hard back, gorgeously presented, entire collection of Hans Christen Anderson's tales - for £10 This child is going to have so many books he won't know what to do with them

Hope you're all well.

Fruitpastels · 25/10/2009 13:02

Glad you had a lovely baby shower Erika, shame that the restaurant were not very nice though. I love the Hans Christen Anderson tales and can't wait to read them to my DS, he is just starting to enjoy the longer stories, without all the pop ups and things he can do on each page. I'm sure the scan will be fine tomorrow. Try not to worry, you'll get to see your baby boy on the screen

EasyEggs I'm sure they will scan you and everything will be fine as well.

I was about to crack on with making Kyte's cookies and realised my choc chips were out of date, so I'm waiting for DH & DS to come home and we can all head to the shop get some food and the choc!

BeckyBendyLegs · 25/10/2009 14:50

Oh god disaster alert. The DSs and I have been making biscuits and I dropped the food processor and broke the handle off it and then we made a lovely batch of biscuits ... without sugar. We forgot to put sugar in the mix. They taste ok but well, not quite right. The DSs are lovely though and say they like them while I sit there tears pouring down! DH is still stropped off for some reason so the atmosphere around here is terribe. He's sitting in the study with his coat on (I've told him to put the heating on if he is cold - but he won't, strange bloke). DS2 and I are escaping to the swings. Can't cope anymore!!!! I can't do atmospheres. DH is off for half term and now I am wishing he would just go to work tomorrow!

raggie · 25/10/2009 14:54

claire I've been the same as you with rasp leaf tea, the stuff from Holland & Barrett too and I actually quite like it as well. Normally I detest herbal tea - it always smells nice but tastes rank!

BBL on the babies on the way front, have you noticed that lissyglitter hasn't been around this weekend? And she was having lots of signs last week...! And where's katster?

We have now officially moved into our new house! Have a mountain to climb before it's ready but will be taking it nice and slow. After moving out/cleaning yesterday I was having regular(ish) braxton hicks, like every 6-8 mins! And my feet/hands are very swollen Sure it's not as I've just been over-doing it but when do you have to worry about it being a sign of pre-eclampsia?

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY ninjacat!

ursigurke · 25/10/2009 15:08

Happy birthday ninjacat, I hope you can enjoy your day!
There should really be some babies on their way but not mine even if I would be due on Saturday. I got HEARTBURN again over the last couples of days!!!!! I haven't had it since weeks!
BBL, could you maybe "glue" cookies together with jam or melted chocolate or decorate them with icing sugar.. That would probably make them a bit sweeter and you would have created your own recipe.

katster37 · 25/10/2009 15:28

Hello ladies!

Sorry I haven't been on for aaaages, I have been so, so busy and just not stopped. Now I have stopped, temporarily, and all I can do is cry!! Am glad to see Pav and BBL are also feeling emotional, and it's not just me. Just burst into tears on the phone to my mum, for no other reason other than I feel so huge and uncomfortable, and I could technically still be pregnant for over 5 weeks if he is two weeks late....

Erika your baby shower sounds lovely. Sorry the restaurant were arsey though, def don't go book. But love the idea of the book.

Ninja I have been drinking the tea that Claired has - yes, it's NIMH recommended, and from GNC or Holland and Barrett. They taste quite nice as they use the fruit as well as the leaves. I've also been taking the capsules from GNC. My NCT teacher said you can't take too much of the stuff, apparently Oh, and Happy Birthday!

My DH is up visiting his mother this weekend. I couldn't face the mammoth trip and all the fussing, so my best friend has come down from Manchester. She's gone now though, so need to somehow clean the house and tidy everything away before DH gets back this evening. Could really do with a snooze....

BBL re biscuits with no sugar - if it's any consolation, I made three cups of tea yesterday for me and two friends that had no teabag in. Served them hot water with milk.

BeckyBendyLegs · 25/10/2009 16:19

Uurisgurke you are a genius! What a great idea. I like it.

Katster glad I'm not the only dippy one!

I hope Lissyglitter is ok. I just get a feeling we're going to have more than one baby this week...

Glad I'm not the only emotional one. I've cried every day for the last three days. Today my eyes are sore from crying over DH's strop, the food processor, the lack of sugar in our biscuits, what next? It is just like being 15 again. I wonder whether there is a hormonal surge at this late stage? I haven't been this bad since the first few weeks.

Fruitpastels · 25/10/2009 16:29

I hope my baby is due this week. These twinges and cramps are driving me around the bend!! Also I've been very emotional the past 2 days, not felt like this for most of this pregnancy. I'm crying at anything sad on the TV and feel like I'm having a complete meltdown at times. Glad to here some of you feel like this too

VenusInfers · 25/10/2009 16:47

Katser love your low caffine tea!

raggie congrats on being officially moved in. It's a lot of hard work, I hope you can rest a little more now, 'cos it does sound like you've been overdoing it.

Erika sounds like your Godmother-to-be is a lovely and thoughtful woman. What a great person to have in your LO's life. Just a shame the restaurant people were such arses.

My overemotional outburst came whilst watching a matinee of 'Up' a couple of days ago. Sat on my own in a cinema full of parents with kids and 10 mins in started blubbing like a demented fool. Recommend it as a film though, bloody marvelous.

Things are beginning to warm up here - having more BH and stronger ones, but still prob a good way off adding to the baby count.

weston · 25/10/2009 16:48

feel like i have been run over by a bus, must be some sort of virus...aggghh...thankfully DH off for mid term of i would never be able to look after the hyperactive one..fingers crossed its of the 24 hour variety...

katster37 · 25/10/2009 17:03

Venus also having lots of fairly strong BHs. When the midwife was prodding me on Friday, she had to stop as my stomach was so hard!

Ooo what has happened to LissyGlitter What have I missed?

Fruitpastels Are you due this week? I wish I was. I still have ages, and I am really feeling it Would be v happy for an early arrival!

Weston I have had an ongoing virus/cold thing since WEdnesday. I keep thinking it's gone, and then it re-emerges. Not nice. Hope you're staying warm inside.

BBL Yep, think it is this stage of pregnancy. Or atleast I hope so, and I am not permanently a blubbering wreck! Are you 37 weeks now?

Laugs · 25/10/2009 17:05

I have cried every day for the past 3 days too. Today's the first day I've only cried once though...

katster nice to see you back. We have been speculating on your whereabouts

erika your baby shower sounds lovely (except the restaurant) - nice that your friends went to such an effort

weston Get well soon! I hope it's short-lived.

Laugs · 25/10/2009 17:07

katster Lissy was having lots of BH, contractions, leaky boobs etc for a few days.

Ninja HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you got Ben and Jerrys in bed

PootleTheFlump · 25/10/2009 17:11

Hi everyone,

Desperately trying to catch up as always!! Am so glad it's not just me that's all weepy. Am feeling really emotional and quite irritable - but know am not being rational. Poor DP is struggling to work out what's going on!!

I have had loads of BH's over the weekend and have started on the fresh pineapple as well as the RLT (have only got the leaves not the tablets and really don't like it!). Does anyone know if tinned pineapple or juice is meant to be any good? Cutting the fresh is a bit of a pain!!!

At least we have even more reason to snuggle on the sofa/ball now it'll be dark earlier!!
