we must be all on the same wave length with nemo as its the first dvd that i just bought my DD along with jungle book and so far she is captivated for up to an hour which is fantastic! thought trying to explain where mummy nemo is gone is abit trickey...

hobnob57 · 25/10/2009 22:08

DD just accepted 'the big fish got her' without question. Which is unusual for her (not to question). I think the cute egg had caught her attention by then!

Ninjacat · 25/10/2009 23:12

Thank you for all the birthday wishes

Woke this morning, went to the loo, wiped, blood, hospital. Not the best start to a birthday. Was told at the hospital that as I'd had a bleed I'd have to stay 24hrs . I managed to persuade doc to let me go on the promise I would come straight back if I had any more bleeding or pain.

Went to friends for lovely roast dinner then spent the evening with family so turned out well in the end

Sorry to hear some of you are struggling with your emotions. Hope things settle soon.

Raspberry leaf tea - Ihave the Holland and Barratt one too. Everything in my local H&B is buy 1 get one 1/2 price. I think it's quite tasty too.

Sending lots of hugs and good baby birthing vibes

Ninja - like you said, not the best start to your birthday, hope all's ok now and you enjoyed the res of your day.

Re Nemo - we did get a lot of 'what his daddy doing?' 'trying to find Nemo' 'why?' - er cause he's lost him and that's the point of the film!! Thanks for reccommendations on Jungle book, that may be the next one - Disney are buy one get one free in our Sainsburys at the moment, so got nephew WAL-I (sp?) but may have to get a couple more as I now know they'll keep madam quiet for a while- may be invaluable in a few weeks!

Katster - was it you wh asked about the sling? I have a 'Close' sling and it's great, it's basically a wrap sling without that faff of learning how to tie it. It is the first sling I had ever used (other than baby bjorn when they're older) and didn't find it daunting. (I'm quite lazy with these thingsand if I'd have struggled wth it I just wouldn't have used it - it's enough having a newborn!). This is the link www.closeparent.com/shop/close-carrier/close-carrier.dot I didn't realise they were that expensive, but you can quite often pick them up second hand for about £30 (I did!).

Hae changed DS's nursery day and he is going there today and so DH and I have a day to smother attention on DD, she wants to make biscuits to roll in 'oots' (oats) and put strawberries (cherries) on top - ie melting moments, we're also going to make some mincemeat for christmas and some more of Kytes cookies! Think we might take her out for a pizza for lunch too. She's currently playing snap with DH!

Laugs · 26/10/2009 07:08

Yawn. We've been up since 5. Whoever dreamed up Daylight Saving was not a parent.

Ninja what a rubbish start to your birthday - I'm glad it all turned out well in the end. I hope you're taking it easy too (bossy, bossy )

Beepbeep It sounds like you have a lovely day planned with DD.

On the Close sling, did you manage to BF in it (if you BF'd)? I like the idea of a sling (have a Baby Bjorn already) but only if I can use it for feeding too.

helips · 26/10/2009 07:19

Morning all,

Ninja glad you got to enjoy your birthday in the end after your rough start.

Ds is only 2 but both me and dh have decided that Finding Nemo will be his first film, we love it! Think I'll wait another 6 months though before introducing him to dvd's, cbeebies will do for now!

It's made me feel so much better hearing everyone else talking about being emotional. I don't remember feeling like this with ds, sometimes I feel quite overwhelmed by it all. I think as well that I am nervous about going into labour, not the pain but more the tiredness. With ds I went into labour at night just as I was going to bed and remember feeling quite cross that I'd not got to have any sleep first! Now, every evening when I go to bed and am shattered I think, please not tonight! Hopefully I'll go into labour when I wake in the morning!

Fruitpastels · 26/10/2009 07:33

Morning, Ninja sorry you had a bad start to your birthday. Did they give you an idea as to why you were bleeding? Glad to hear you're home and enjoyed the rest of your day

An early start in this house as well. DS is normally a late sleeper. I'm at the point where sleep is a thing of the past. I manage a couple of hours and then I wake each hour needing a wee/having BH's/feeling sore from the weight of the bump! Hoping DS will let me snooze later.

It's that time of the week - list time! I think we'll be starting a new thread as well.

Gosh Ninja what a start to your birthday. Hope everything is ok, and sounds like the rest of the day was lovely so that's good

I'm going to join the emotional/irrational group too! I'm either getting upset for no reason, or snapping for hardly anything. I know I'm doing it, but can't seem to stop it.

Had a morning of sickness so far this morning Not sure what happened really as when I got up with dd I felt sick from not eating so had toast and marmite, and then quickly threw the whole lot back up again Not pleasant (sorry to make you read that at this time in the morning when you're probably eating breakfast . Feel perfectly fine apart from that though so don't think it's a bug or anything! Hey ho!

I've been really lucky with dd and the daylight saving time thing. Usually she is the worlds worst sleeper and wakes up really early, but for some unknown reason, since the clocks went back yesterday she hasn't got up til 6ish (which is good for her!) when I was expecting at least 4.30 - 5am! Long may it continue (and if she could sleep til 7 that would be even nice

Have caught up on all your news but can't remember specifics!

Ninja happy birthday for yesterday and hope there's been no more bleeding or worry.
erika good luck for your scan today and glad the shower went well. Which restaurant was being rubbish? We'll boycott it!!

Had a lovely weekend - up to my DB for my neice's birthday and then my Mum came down with us for a visit and heads off this morning. Was hoping baby might come as Mum is here for DS but no. Think I've still got at least a week to go. 38+3 today though so hopefully not too much longer!

OMG in my absence I have missed the arrival of baby Tamlin!!! Congratulations!! I hope you are recovering well and baby Felix is living up to his name, and proving a happy little fella! Was it an emcs because he was breech? I hope his big brother is ok too.

EasyEggs hope all goes well at the hospital.

DH's cousin gave us literally a giant holdall of neutral baby newborn sized clothes yesterday, some of them only worn once. They are all gorgeous, I am so excited sorting them all out! Trying to get organised this week. Hope people are feeling a bit less tearful. Mine seems to get worse in the evenings.

You all get up so early! We've been up earlier than normal. The clocks going back is the culprit I think... The DSs were fine yesterday but woke early today.

Southernbelle sorry you had sickness today - sounds like morning sickness. Hope you feel better now. You didn't put me off my breakfast

katster37 · 26/10/2009 08:51

BEcky I don't normally get up too early, but have recently lost the ability to sleep, which is helpful as I have a ton of stuff to do today!

Southernbelle I hope you're feeling better. I have recently been quite sick. Apparently it can come back? Anyway hope it has gone off for you.

weston · 26/10/2009 09:05

Usigurke I can't believe you are nearly at your due date!! Are you feeling anything else unusual? Def think the back pain is a good sign. I am not even at 37 weeks yet, and still scrutinise every single physical sensation and obsessively check knickers for any sign of, ahem, plug coming away or anything! It's worse than the symptom spotting 9 months ago!

Thanks for the good wishes, sorry I haven't read through everything am so frightened about today. My MW is away on holiday too, so can't even text her and be told its normal or whatever!! So glad DP is coming with me. Bryn is wiggling around very happily still, and I've been having BHs and contractions pretty much constantly for 48hrs now. So very very scared

Ninjacat · 26/10/2009 09:30

you'll be ok lovely. If he's wriggling that is a very good sign that he is well.

OP posts:
Laugs · 26/10/2009 09:41

Erika ((hugs)) I'm sure everything will be fine. Let us know how you get on. Can you speak to your mum's friend who is a midwife?

Katster on checking for mucus plugs etc: I went to the toilet last night and was staring in the bowl for ages. Went in nervously to DH:
"Umm, I don't suppose there was something strange in the toilet when you last looked?" DH: pause "Oh yeah, I found some cherry lips on the floor so I just chucked them in the toilet"
You don't do that to a pregnant woman! (And God only knows where the cherry lips came from. I could have eaten those!)
