erika the time when I went to the doctor's and she told me that, I had just moved in with DP and he only had a shower attachment in the bath - so I think there might be something in it. It's a bit of a pain, but I just washed my body with the ph neutral, perfume free shower gel in the bath, then knelt up so that my bottom was out of the water when I did my hair at the end. Probably a bit more complicated when you're 8 months pregnant! You could wash your hair over the sink I suppose. I don't know if I'm completely uncoordinated, but I've always found that really hard...

BeckyBendyLegs · 24/10/2009 11:39

Trikken my waters have broken naturally twice and they have GUSHED if that helps, ie there was no doubt at all. I also felt a very strong popping sensation as they went. Mine have broken during labour though both times.

I'm feeling very emotional and hormonal at the moment. Just cried because I shouted at DS1 for leaving his milk on the side and the cat knocked it over trying to get her head in the cup. I was more cross with the cat than DS1 so now feel terrible for shouting at him.

Hope everyone is ok today

skorpion · 24/10/2009 12:25

Morning!

pavlov Thanks for your concern, I managed to get out of the bath OK. I did chuckle though, just imagine, dh not back until later today. Might start taking my phone in with me. Dirty Dancing wasn't as good as I remembered from when I was 13 or so... Coraline however was a good film, properly scary, just like kids like it.

becky I hope your mood improves.

kyte Take it easy.

Rainy day today, may just watch some more films all day. Well, after I clean the bathroom, as it definitely looks yucky now.

Just read a leaflet I got from MW re perineal massage. With drawings. Nice...

Hope you enjoy your day. Trikken, could this be it?

helips · 24/10/2009 12:30

Morning everyone!

T'was dh's birthday yesterday but we didn't do much, just watched a dvd and had a takeaway. I went to bed before the film finished though as was feeling a bit funny. Couldn't concentrate and felt really restless and when dh offered me some birthday chocolate I said no, which is soooo not like me

Went to bed and woke up an hour later with a stomach ache like I needed a poo (sorry!) but went to the loo and nothing happened. My stomach kept going really hard and I thought oh no, this is it. Then I started panicking as I was really tired, the house is a tip (not good when your planning a home birth!) still haven't got my tens machine and the liner for my birth pool hasn't arrived!

Anyway, thankfully it was all nothing and baby has decided to stay put for now! Dh has taken ds out this morning and I am meant to be resting but have been frantically tidying, washing and general nesting just in case! Have also shaved legs and underarms and attacked the lady garden so I'm all prepared there too! Will send dh out later to buy a tens machine and now just need to write my birth plan, phew!

Hope everyone else is well, having a good weekend and generally nesting or resting! Who'll be next I wonder?!

southernbelle77 · 24/10/2009 13:22

Oh Trikken I wonder if this is the start for you!

Pavlov - I can't use any sort of products in the bath or shower that isn't completely unperfumed and ph neutral otherwise I get thrush, so could well be that, combined with pregnancy.

Helips Don't go doing too much today! You might send yourself into actual labour with all the exertion!

Enjoy watching films (after cleaning the bathroom!) Skorpion Becky hope you are ok. I get overly emotional all the time at the moment and feel really bad for dd as the smallest things seem so annoying so I tell her off

Kyte how did the out of hours doctors go?

I've just FINALLY been able to find the present that dd really wants for Christmas! I was just looking on Argos, without any hope really, and found it in a store about half an hour away so quickly rushed out to get it! It's now hidden in the garage so a 5 year olds prying eyes doesn't find it, lol! DD and DH are out at Chessington World of Adventures for the day and having a great time by the sounds of it. I feel that I should be doing something but most of the cleaning is done so not really got much to do!!

beepbeep · 24/10/2009 14:32

Trikken - first time mine went with a gush - DH was there and says he heard them 'pop'!! This was in labour and DD followed literally minutes later. Second time they leaked a bit for a couple of hours - only really knew cause i put a pad on and it was damp in about 20 mins, apparently this was the 'back' waters then I had to have rest broken as I was trying to push him out and they still hadn't gone - these didn't gush like DD's had but not sure how much i had leaked over course of the labour! I started 'leaking' about 6 hours before he was born.

I took DD out this morning for a 'cup of tea' (babyccino) and cake, it should have been nice, but she's playing up at the moment and i'm shattered and emotional s wasn't great, so now i feel guilty for wasting precious time with her, poor little thing. She did get up at 4.45 this mornng though and think we were both shattered!

Just finised wrapping christmas presents, need to get sme tags this aft otherwise will forget who they're for, but realised can't deliver them early as we need to put the baby's name on them and don't know sex/what it will be called!!

hobnob57 · 24/10/2009 14:34

I can't believe it's yet another windy and rainy day AGAIN this week. I've totally run out of rainy day things to do with DD, thank goodness her GPs are back from holiday and paying a visit this afternoon! We've had a bit of a tragedy here as a local farmer died on Thursday trying to rescue cattle from the banks of the river which had burst when his tractor went headfirst into the river. It's so ; his farmhouse is at the end of our road and DD and all the kids from our housing development always look forward to going past to see if the tractor is out to wave at it.

trikken I hope that things get moving for you soon

We've generally been feeling a bit bleurgh in this house this week - weather and viruses I think. All nesting instinct has gone and now I have moved on to Can't Be Arsed. I've also been really inactive which I think isn't helping things. I just hoovered downstairs (prior to GPs arriving) and have had to sit down to catch my breath!

The good news is that LO has worked out that there is a space in the middle of my pelvis and occasionally uses it, instead of headbanging the corners. It was really stretching out down there last night and setting off some massive BHs. But don't get excited - DD did that too. I can't believe I've potentially got 4 or 5 weeks of this left to go if I want to wait for labour to set in naturally. I can see the temptation of a CS becoming more appealing as time goes on! saying that, there are small signs that things are progressing. The most significant one (sorry if tmi) is that I am finally, occasionally, actually getting some discharge! Has been so odd not getting any as I was swimming in the stuff last time. I almost feel like an old friend has returned

pav how's the decorating?

SB good news on the Christmas present front!

ebayers did you know that you can find out the going rate for things by clicking the 'completed listings' box when you do an advanced search? I realised, like helips that I actually didn't have a TENS despite relying heavily on one last time so went on ebay and got one last night. I had to pay a bit more than other similar listings had gone for, but I figured that time is of the essence (maybe, hopefully?). I hope that it arrives soon with these postal srikes!

Kyte take it easy! yey for lovely doctors and cakes.

Trikken mine broke in the middle of the night and woke up with little wet spot in bed. Then used pad to go to hospital, which was more than enough to catch. At hospital they couldn't see anyhting come out, but used special syringe thing and there it was.

Here they give you 24 hrs after water breaks to deliver before em cs, because of infections. Is that different in GB? Was a bit stressful to have time limit.

My belly hurts. My back hurts. The baby moves like gigantic eel, pushing butt into my lungs. I feel sick to the stomach, coffee prob didn't help. Had to get up at 5;30 with dd, so yuck. Hope my energy will pick up, as is DH only day off for last two weeks.

Ninjacat · 24/10/2009 17:40

It's my birthday tomorrow so just keeping an eye out to see if any of your lovely babies are going to be joining me in the celebrations

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 24/10/2009 17:49

Oh, just in case I don't get on tomorrow, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ninja! (i still have not got all the way through the hypnobirth cd btw!)

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 24/10/2009 17:52

My house smells. It smells of house guest. I know it is him as the car also smells, just after DH and he got out of it, then I got in it.

I cannot wait until tomorrow. I do not like visitors. I have decided I prefer to be miserable and enjoy my own company if thats ok with you....

BeckyBendyLegs · 24/10/2009 18:21

Hello everyone. I've had a nice day. My sister popped up on facebook (that instant messenger thing) saying she was coming over to pick up her daughter from a sleepover and would I like to pootle around the shops with her so her, DS2 and I went to all the charity shops in town and had a drink in Cafe Nero and it was really nice. DS1 stayed at home and watched Star Wars with DH.

I don't know why I am feeling so emotional - must just be hormones. Does not feel as if the baby is coming yet though. The bump is still high up.

I talked to my sister about the swine flu jab as she is a nurse and she said 'get it done'. I wasn't going to bother but not sure now... I'm going to ask the midwife next week. Anyone else getting the jab??

Trikken how are you feeling now?

Southernbelle well done on finding and getting the Christmas present

Helips hope you are ok now. I had a similar thing the other night - stomach suddenly felt dodgy but was ok. A sign of impending labour previously but not in this case. Perhaps just a practice!

Happy birthday tomorrow Ninjacat!

helips · 24/10/2009 18:29

bbl I too am feeling very emotional, must be the hormones! feel quite anxious too, maybe it's because it's all getting so close now.

Pavlov bet you can't wait to get rid of BIL, he sounds like a right pain, not long now! Is he still leaving tomorrow?

Dh is cooking my dinner but i'm not that hungry, not like me at all, whats going on?!

Trikken · 24/10/2009 18:40

hi all, not much changed here, have had a little bit of backache but no more signs of gushing or even trickling, which is a shame, cos i really would like the baby out now. am more tired than anything. it would have been convienient if she'd have decided to come out today as ds is at my mums tonight. ah well.

Ninjacat · 24/10/2009 19:00

can raspberry leaf tea cause a dodgy tummy?

OP posts:
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 24/10/2009 19:18

bbl i have been emotional for a long time I cry, snap, am quick to anger, paranoid etc very quickly these days. I have generally had at least one lot of tears by lunch time atm . Not today though!

helips I cannot wait. He will be gone tomorrow. Even if I have to boot him out with my DM sandals myself.

Ninja don't know about raspberry leave tea, sorry...

kyte I love my closest friends staying over. But I guess that is because they are my friends, so have similar tastes, qualities, expectations, and they try to ensure they behave - they help clean after tea, they respect our no smoking in the house rules, they take their shoes off, they are good company. Family, they always seem to stress me out, no matter how much I say they will not do it this time.

I hate, more than anything...smelliness and interfering. This one, he does both. But, soon, and the clocks go back so he is leaving an hour earlier than we thought - or he thought when I kick him out!!!

Enjoy your ice cream - sounds great!

claired21 · 24/10/2009 21:04

ninja I've had a cup of raspberry leaf tea every day since 33wks, will increase to 2cups from 35wks tmrw for a fortnight. It's the teabags from holland & Barrett, think they are made by NIMH? I definitely haven't felt stoned (if it was you who asked that recently, can't remember who posted it) and haven't had an upset tummy either but I know H&B do it in capsule form as well if you wanted to try that?

I've heard mixed reports about the effectiveness of rasp leaf but I actually don't mind the taste so figure I might as well stick with it.

hobnob57 · 24/10/2009 21:19

erika so excited - SIL turned up today with an old ipod nano she no longer wants so I'm just uploading those CDs and will be off upstairs to have a quiet listen as soon as the thing is charged! A very belated thank you...

I don't know about anyone else but I'm finding myself very disinterested in anything at the moment. I think I've had my fill of project planning and am at the stage where I'll happily do whatever anyone suggests to me (or nothing, if that is an alternative option). Maybe I'm just bored?

Give me some stuff to think about!

beepbeep · 25/10/2009 06:20

Happy birthday Ninjacat!

got up so early this morning, forgot the clocks had changed! Up before DH & DCs (which was quite nice) tho DS is now up. DD is asleep in our bed with DH - not sure what we can do to stop this, she does seem to sleep better there, but don't want it to become a habit (which i suppose it is already!)

Had the most horrendous stabbling pains in my tailbone last night, haehad it quite a bit but last night was the worst, had a bath and took some paracetamol but still have it this morning so hobbling around abit.

Helips - i'm really off food at the moment too - if it's put in front of me i'll eat it but not that bothered or feeling hungry - strange in comparison with my scoffing of a few weeks ago!

helips · 25/10/2009 06:58

Morning all, yawn! Hate it when the clocks change I kindly decided to let dh have a lie-in this morning and got up early with ds.

Happy birthday Ninja hope you managed to have a lie-in and get lots of lovely presents!

beep beep I did manage to eat dinner in the end. Dh cooked some lovely beef Hash with home made chips and a fried egg, yummy! And then I managed to polish off some lime cheesecake whilst watching Strictly, the perfect evening!

pavlov have you managed to boot bil out yet? bet you can't wait for him to go so that you can start fumergating!

Trikken hope things start happening for you soon.

Fruitpastels · 25/10/2009 07:07

Just dropping in. Hope everyone is doing ok.

This extra hour sleep has made me get out of bed even earlier than normal.

Lot's of BH's (false contractions!) whatever they are called. Baby is still floating around and hasn't snuck down to my pelvis for a couple of days. Beep my appetite has tailed off the last couple of days as well. From what I remember, it's normal as our tummies are so squashed and anxiety about the baby arriving can make us feel less hungry.

Hobnob I'm bored out of my mind! I'm going to buy a new book today and try and relax and have a good read this afternoon.

Fruitpastels · 25/10/2009 07:09
