Hi all - a new thread for all our new chat as teh old one is nearly full. No idea how to do a link though !

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
alibobins · 30/11/2009 08:23

Well I went to hospital and contractions were quite strong on the monitor and every 5 mins they examined me and I was 2cm dilated
Well at about 2.30 it all stopped and all i felt was a bit of backache and low pressure was still only 2cm so at at 6 this morning they let me home.
Midwife said people can go full term even being dilated and they don't class you as establised labour till 4-5cm.
She could feel my waters and babies head through cervix.
I just feel shattered one min I thought it was braxton hicks next it was all so real then it stopped so a whole rollercoster of emotions.
Thanks for all the well wishes and fingers crossed I make it to 37 weeks x x

shinybaubles · 30/11/2009 08:23

alibobins would you not go to the hospital anyway - it is early but your baby will be a good size.

mistletoekisses - I have one ds 3.8 and this is also probably our last, well unless finances pick up drastically . I have not had a normal birth and stupidly feel I have missed out on something - although dh thinks I am crazy for wanting contractions. It's wait and see till the next appointment in 2 weeks then I will have to decide..

Hope things calm down and you get to 37 weeks alibobins xx

somewhathorrified · 30/11/2009 11:24

Ali hope you can relax a bit now, have a chilled out day and get DH to pamper you big time.

You guys have scared the hell out of me with how unprepared I am if baby decides to turn up early (haven't got a hopspital bag, or stuff to put in one yet!). So am off shopping this afternoon to get everything together...just in case.

devotion · 30/11/2009 11:44

alibobins - the perfect excuse for putting your feet up all day everyday until 37 weeks - fingers crossed for you.

take care x

alibobins · 30/11/2009 11:46

Had a little lie down but not very comfortable.
Had a major panic that I would not be ready if baby did decide to come threw a few things in a bag last night but nothing for bump I'm going to pack my proper bag today and do one for bump too.
Going to get Dh to sort our bedroom out as it needs moving round to fit a cot in. Even if he does come on due date I haven't got that long left.

Hope everyone is enjoying this cold Monday

shinybaubles · 30/11/2009 11:51

Hi alibobins I had a minor panic last night and realised I needed to get things ready. Glad to hear you're ok. Try to take it easy.
So have packed baby bag, am washing pram covers and have the car seat out, I need a few more things for my bag and I'll be good to go.

C section scheduled for 24 days time - yikes that's just a bit more than three weeks. Although it feels like he is trying to fight his way out right now.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 30/11/2009 12:08

Hate to gloat but my bags been packed for AGES! Apart from toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush - those last minute toiletries (but a list to one side so DH can throw those in bag) plus Ipod and earphones and money. That's the only things left to go in bags....

3rd day now of having very icky tummy (waves of horrid nausea) and irregular tightenings - bleurgh indeed. Beyond tired but MIL paying me a visit today at some point. Think I'm going to have a snooze now....

Mama2b5 · 30/11/2009 12:13

Ahh wow alibobins what a hectic and emotional time, thinking is baby comin and having contractions then being sent home to !
but yes this must be a wake up to us all who are due to get our stuff together and not waste any time!"
My mum used to say Babies dont asked to come they just come"!
First morning of freedom and with the weather out side so glad to be in door nice and warm!
i looked at DH while he was getting kids ready for school and thought so glad im not goin out!

crumpette · 30/11/2009 13:00

alibobins wow am crossing fingers and toes for you that bump settles down for a bit! FYI though if your contractions pick up again and are regular go back to the hospital, I went from 3cm to 10cm in 27 mins with DD....aaaah.. anyway yes, don't worry about them being cross if you have the slightest inkling you need to be there, just go. You can never predict if you're going to have a 50 hour labour or a 2 hour one..

Also, if bump is almost ready to arrive, I'm sure your little dc in there is ready to come out and will be a fine healthy little weight. 35 is nearly 37 weeks, so nearly fully cooked.. good luck!!!

As for hospital bags, I haven't packed anything yet! Work has been so hectic, and every night I just flop out exhausted... hmm perhaps had better think about that...I have, however, been a bit more organised. This weekend I have ordered furniture (bookcase, drawers etc from ikea) as there are currently hundreds of unhoused books stacked up, loads of socks on the loose and nowhere to change a baby! and, I have also... got a pushchair! whooo!! I didnt really need one as I had one from dd but I wasted money anyway and got a sparkly new one, hasn't been delivered yet, but yay!

showmethemummy · 30/11/2009 13:53

hi all,
alibobins- hope things settle down for a bit!

I've lost track completely of who's having which dc, and also when... was looking for the list couldn't find it on the thread...start a new one??

devotion - so hate involving hospital or anyone; silly I know but if any other symptoms i'll definitely call them.

CTOFN- I found your Bag Lists earlier in the thread you are seriously organised woman... in my case it's still 'bag - what bag??!?

must remember snacks in my bag like biscuits and snack bars and crisps! last time had to wait a long time to eat something and i was starving!!!!

My word i really am one of the last ones to have my baby although i believe this baby is goin to come out before due date! and i have never felt like that before!

Alibobin - hope you are ok!
maybe its a 3rd baby thing,i may be early too!

FifiForgot · 30/11/2009 17:46

I've been looking for this too! I've moved my date (planned section). I keep thinking about packing my bag, but can't actually seem to summon up the enthusiasm! I must do it at the weekend - I'll add it to the list of jobs! I seem to have less time on my hands now I've finished work, how has that happened?

alibobins I hope things have settled down and the baby stays put for a couple more weeks.

I'm still here although I'm very tired.
Ds has been really clingy since I picked him up from school he says he just needs me bless him.
Still feeling a bit sore but no major pains going to have an early night and go back to thinking bump will be late lol
Can't believe we will soon be congratulating each other and sharing our lovely calm birth stories
Anyone heard anything from londonlottie? wonder if she has her little twins x x

alibobins hope all is alright with you now.

londonlottie fantastic news! Sounds as if the care there is really great which must be reassuring.

mistletoekisses I could have written your post about c/s! Those are my reasons too, I really don't feel I've missed out on natural birth and just want some control this time, unlike very scary emergency experience last time, and a safe delivery.

I had my pandemrix swine flu jab this morning, it didn't really hurt and arm is now just a bit itchy. I have made appointment for dd for next week too. I will be a bit more relaxed when I feel we are protected. The doctor's was heaving.

We went shopping yesterday pm and I really struggled to walk home (we live walking dist from city centre). I kept having to stop for Braxton Hicks. I have said to dp, he will have to get stuff for me or I will have to buy online as I felt dreadful yesterday evening. I think on top of 4yr olds party on sat it was all too much, even though we didn't actually do much more than look around a few shops!!!

mistletoekisses · 30/11/2009 19:58

Ali - so relieved for you! Glad to hear you are back home. I tell you what; you didnt half put the wind up me. I had all my stuff ready and washed, but it was in various drawers etc. Last night I too packed my essentials hospital bag and got a few more bits today. DH looked very confused as he watched me wandering back and forth and asked me what the rush was. When I told him about you, he agreed that getting packed was a good call! All that is left is superstrength arnica...will order that tomorrow. CTFN - you are uber organised!

Lottie - great to hear from you too! Enjoy being at home and make sure you rest up!

Shiny - I dont think there is anything silly about wanting to experience natural childbirth. I think I am very much in the minority for feeling the way I do.

Quirky - Glad I am not totally alone. I do get vibes from people in RL who quite clearly think I should try natural this time and who think my reasons for going for cs are quite shallow. Have definitely been put in the 'too posh to push camp'.

Hello to everyone else!!

Our final parts of nursery furniture arrived today! And 99.9% of my christmas shopping has also been done, so am starting to feel a little calmer and more organised. I didnt anticipate how much work it would create expecting a baby near to Christmas!

Fraochsmum · 01/12/2009 10:16

Hi there, just changed myself after DH pointed out my date didn't match the scan
Glad things are settling down a bit Alibobins, bit of a scare though!
Brilliant news about getting out Londonlottie you must be delighted!
I still have to pack my hospital bag, unlike you organised people. However, if I do have the baby in the town I will be out before I know it - a matter of hours to be exact! They do have a very good aftercare service (mw visits once/twice a day and call out anytime we need help feeding), but just don't have enough people to staff the mat unit overnights.
Better get back to work, all the best x

morning ladies, had so much to catch up on! lottie out of hospital and alibobins nearly in labour!!!
i ma just over 35 weeks now and feel like a moose! i think i will be early though more like wishful thinking. xp is being nice saying he realises now he was treating me wrong and is trying ot see a councellor, i just thik it may be to the point of no return now for me as i have been put through so much abuse dont think i would risk going back there at all even though i love him. when he talks on the phone saying how sorry he is and how wrong he was i just feel as though it is an abuser trying ot worm himself back in wiht false hope, that is how badly this whole thing has affected me and i cant see him any other way. the guy i met last year and fell for has gone to me. i was at his house on sunday for dinner and he asked me if i would be having male friends around as he could not cope wiht that so even though we are not together he is still dictating sthi to me and me feelign guilty for no reason will probalby still not talk to men! so now i am sneaking around as got in touch wiht someone from years ago and he is being really supportive like so mnay other friends but if xp finds out i woul have to justify this!!! rant over sorry ladies!!
anyway not getting made redundant so stuck in my littel two bed house wiht third dc on
way. i think it is all a ploy as there is no job for me really but i think the companies plan is for me to voluntarily resign hence no redundancy payout!!! so a bit pissed as was hoping ot move back up north but cant quit job as council will frown upon that as was employed and now not!!

somewhathorrified · 01/12/2009 11:33

Anyone know what strength arnica tablets to get? Holland and Barret sell 2 different ones 96cc and 30 cc) and are they ok to take while BF? They also sell raspberry leaf tea for 99p atm (typically found this out after I bought for twice the amount 10 mins previously).

Bethoo I don't understand why you are still tolerating your XP, is he dad to you kids?

bethoo · 01/12/2009 11:49

somewhathorrified he is not the fatherto hte two i have though even now when we talk on the phone he asks to see them and says how much he misses them ((now i see it as a ploy to win me back!!)) see i cant help but read int oevery action or thing he says!! anyhoo he is the dad to the one i am carrying though i am surprised he is not accusing it of being someone elses!!
getting cramps daily now and pain on walking as baby is head in pelvis.
does anyone else find that if they have been sat down for a while when they get up it is hard to walk, i am waddling!!!!

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 01/12/2009 13:45

Hello everyone

Just catching up as not been on for a while.
bethoo stay strong and don't let him back in unless your sure he's really sincere, I'd be very wary.
alibobins hope everything stays calm and relaxed and if anything happens I think at this point we have to go with the flow.
london I'm very pleased for you, getting to go home, take care and REST.

Hope everyone else is ok.

I had my booking appointment to transfer care to new hospital yesterday. Got a student, bless! who was really nice but because they have to have everything checked by someone else, I was there ages. They see me as low risk so fingers crossed it stays that way and I can have a water birth in the mw led unit. (if the pool is free)

Blood came back from fbs ok so no diabetes.
But was told I need to take one iron tab per day, I told her that my iron was even lower 3 wks ago so I am on 3 iron tabs. OH she said carry on then. Then got a voicemail from another mw saying please contact surgery for a prescription as my iron is low. Talk about iron overkill.!!

BH very very painful over last wk or so. So much so I am breathing through them, poor dh keeps giving me sideways glances as if to say please stop your scaring me!! I'm scaring myself!
