Its all getting exciting and real now
Getting really busy at work so all I want to do is sleep which is not possible with my other monster lol ;)

CTOFN Can't believe the PTA can turn into such a drama think its one thing that I will happily stay away from.

Finally got a graduation date 21st Nov hope the cap and gown will cover the bump on my picture

Hope everyone else is okay.

somewhathorrified · 03/10/2009 09:43

Ooh, nice shiny new thread. Thanks saz

Have to admit last night I used a cushion in bed as a bump support...so much more comfortable. Also started reading the hypnobirthing book I bought, it's very good if a little 'hippy' in places.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 03/10/2009 10:58

Hello everyone - I've found the new thread too. Londonlottie - I have to wait til 10 Nov for my next consultant appointment but at that date will set date for my c/s and I'm really hoping for a private room too. I figure that way I should get more sleep than in an open ward. I remember with the other 2 that I was kept awake most of the night with other people's babies crying - at that stage, I couldn't tell if it was mine or not!

Went out last night and stayed at MILs in town but I am absolutely exhausted today. It wasn't a hugely late night but her beds are sooooo soft I just cannot sleep there. Kids had an awful night sleep too on bumpy lumpy sofa bed and think I only managed about 2-3 hours solid! Urgh - once tennis and swimming lessons for kids are done today think I will get into PJs and curl up on sofa... mmmmmm

devotion · 03/10/2009 11:22

Hooray, well done for the new link.

Londonlottie - good plan. I think you deserve that private room for a very reasonable £600 for 14 nights is fantastic.

Although after 14 days you will be feeling serious cabin fever, will you able to go outside in the grounds for a walk after a few days?

I ended up staying three days with my first dd and I am so glad because it really helped me on the road to bf. When pregnant I knew no bfeeders and because we were moving about I never did go to an antental classes except for a 1 day active birth workshop at 39 weeks so I never really got to discuss it with mums and books just made it sounds very straightforward? Which in my case was not

So being in hospital a few days and surrounded by lovely patient midwifes who told me i could buzz them in any time of the day when i was starting a feed and checked my latch. One lovely midwife would actually stay for a bit and watch me to check I was doing it right.

You will get a good chance of getting your bf established and their sleep pattern too which of course is priceless

So exciting!

I have a few friends due their babies next month and I just can not wait to see them, it will make me even more impatient.

Everyone is surprised I did not find out the sex of this baby again (third baby) and then they say, "Dont you want to know this time?" and then, "Are you hoping for a boy this time?" and I never really know what to say to the last one. I have two girls so yes it would be lovely to have a boy but I would also me just as happy with a girl, because I have three sisters and I always loved it! We had great times and fights But I almost feel like I am justifying it when I say it. I can see a look of sympathy on their faces

My mum said I was born (third girl) people would look in the pram and then say, "ahhh maybe next time"

Of course she was not bothered and she had five, a boy after me (they were all right) and then another girl! But my brother was SO naughty because I guess he was spoild with all our attention that we prayed the 5th would be a girl and she was the most calmest and sweet girl ever. I remember her so well and when pregnant alway hope I would have a baby like my youngest sister.

Has anyone bought their pram yet, I got mine early fro Kiddicare as they were on sale being 2009 stock. I love it!

Need so much, I gave all my baby things away as dd2 was not an easy baby due to her reflux and refusal to sleep (bless her). I said then I am never having a baby again... and here I am. I will say from 14mths she has been an angel and feel bad to say she was a hard baby now.

alibobins - good idea to steer clear from PTA, my PTA are actually lovely and I get involved every now and then but just basic stuff like running a stall at an event. But I hear awful stories from friends PTA's. I also stay out of the playground politics. You can see all the groups in the playground and I stay at of all that and speak to whoever is standing next to me. But I am in and outta that playground quick time

somewhathorrified - i read that book and really enjoyed it. Agree a bit hippy in places. But it has really helped me. I had a bit of a scary birth 2nd time and was terrified about giving birth again but since reading the book and listening to the relaxation cds I am actually looking forward to it and now plan a homebirth. My friends can not believe how my attitude changed, its all down to the book.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 03/10/2009 11:31

Hi again everyone - I've put a couple of pics on my profile page so you can see my big bump at 26 weeks!!

Dizzyclarebear · 03/10/2009 11:59

new thread, yay!

(RANT ALERT) anyone else had a mare getting their 'health in pregnancy' forms??? Tried to get it this week. The dragons reception staff at my GP's told my GP when he tried to get a form for me that I had to get it off the Direct.gov website. I said the website said GP or Midwife (the midwife is based at the GP's too so same admin staff). They said I was wrong and gave me a booklet all about the various benefits expectant mums are entitled too. So I opened it to the bit about 'Health in Pregnancy' grant and pointed to them where it also said 'Forms from GP or Midwife'.

The moose receptionist then said "well no one's told me about that" as if the Health Secretary should have called her directly to ask permission before starting this grant.

Anyway, I got a call late yesterday saying they'd checked and I should get a form from the GPs, and he'd signed one for me and I need to go back on Monday morning to pick it up. Might be worth printing out the bit from the Direct.gov to show them, save yourself an extra trip... (of course you might have a dragon free GP reception)

sazlocks · 03/10/2009 14:35

Hello all - DS asleep and putting off doing some housework by faffing about on here ! Grim weather so we have an afternoon of indoor play and painting lined up when he wakes up !
For those with little ones already I got a few lovely books to read with my DS about new babies - got the Topsy and Tim one and Anne Kubler ones as both have breastfeeding mummies in there as well as being lovely books generally. Also there is a house inside my mummy - very cute story and in my hormonal state makes me cry whenever we read it. DS has started patting my tummy a lot and likes to kiss the baby who he thinks lives inside my tummy button ! Has also developed a habit of wanting to lift up my top to show other people where the baby is. I am sure other people can live without seeing my big round tum tums though
londonlottie defo agree to get a private room. I did with DS and it ws well worth it. I had a CS as well and stayed in hosp for 6 days afterwards which was well needed.
I am just about to get in touch with our hypnobirthing tutor from last time and arrange a refresher course. I have to have a meeting with the Head of Midwifery to get her to agree to a waterbirth as I am apparently high risk after having a c section last time. We'll see about that !

downbutnotout · 03/10/2009 20:35

Just wanted to say a massive congrats to anniemac - I remember you from the Hut and I have only just noticed you're expecting. Hurrah!

Btw, my own ds is now eight months And we thought it'd never happen!

flyingma · 04/10/2009 00:26

Hi all new joiner to the board and the group. Can't believe it's taken me this long to come into a pregnancy forum (normally am the first one there) but been having a particularly trying few days so came on to find some answers to aches and pains.

First for the intro, EDD 11 Jan 2010, my first child. Don't want to know the sex of the baby but from the way I've been kicked, I'd say boy or woman-footballer-in-the-making.

Location, currently Reading but will move north come December.

somewhathorrified · 04/10/2009 09:44

Welcome flyingma don't envy you moving in Dec!

saz how do they justify the high risk category after a cs, or is it just the waterbirth after a cs? I'd have thought that anything you find relaxing would be good.

sazlocks · 04/10/2009 11:38

Morning all
Hi somewhat - don't know if its a local policy or what but the consultant was not up for a waterbirth as it is for low risk women, would be midwife led in the midwife led unit. The consultant led unit is down the corridor so its hardly miles away. I think its because the consultant would want me strapped to a bed where they can perform continous fetal monitoring. Anyhows I need to have a meet with the Head Midwife to assess the risks and see if she is willing to allow her staff to support me to have a water birth. After starting out this time thinking I wouldn't bother with a birth plan , the list of things I am not having is growing by the day ! Don't want to be induced again, don't want an instrumental delivery and want a CS in pref to instruments being used, don't want to give birth on dry land, don't want to be strapped to a bed etc etc
Sorry to first timers for bringing all this lot up ! Now I am 24 weeks I am suddenly starting to focus on the BIRTH.

OP posts:
sazlocks · 04/10/2009 11:40

oh and welcome flyingma I don't know what I am having either but I would put a bet on it being a girl.

OP posts:
crumpette · 04/10/2009 12:54

welcome flyingma sazlocks, I agree a waterbirth sounds lovely. I wouldn't want to be strapped to a monitor again either, I hated being forced to stay lying down on my back- could they have made that any more painful for a woman in labour with no pain relief!?

Ehem, have woken up today and suddenly panicked...think I am 26 or 27 weeks now

Anyway it has suddenly dawned on me that I have got to get this thing outta there... I don't remember panicking like this with DD, but yeah I'm totally freaking out today! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggghhhh!!! I think it's realising that if I am likely to be induced at 37 weeks then I only have 10 weeks left of normality before it's agony followed by more agony followed by months with no sleep!!!

is it really bad to panic like that?! I should know better by now, right?

Argh

Anyway other than that also weighed myself this morning [oink] and have now gained 2 stone [oink oink]

Sorry for the vent! Will go and hide under duvet eating chocolate cookies until the feeling passes................

crumpette · 04/10/2009 12:57

It's actually 2 stone 4 pounds [bit fat piglet emoticon]

I am also worried that by the end of this pregnancy I will be completely HUGE!!!

Sorry for the vent

CantThinkofFunnyName · 04/10/2009 13:17

Crumpette - I too am 26+ weeks and c/s is on the cards for 37 weeks, which means I only have 11 weeks to go.... fair to say I'm starting to panic about the birth/recovery and this is my 3rd. I NEVER worried about the birth with either of the other two!

2 stone gain for me too [big fat piglet emoticon] and am also worried that I will be HUGE.

PS - why oh why do people say, god, I was that size when I was full term - or, are you sure there's not twins in there and other such moronic comments? It really is irritating. Tbh, I know I'm absolutely average size for my dates, a good friend of mine due 2 weeks after me has a much much much bigger bump - although the rest of her is a size 6/8 compared with my 12/14 size so I don't think I'm too big, under the circumstances. Just some people are bloody stupid - wouldn't you agree?

quirkychick · 04/10/2009 13:22

crumpette thanks for link to this thread!

I know what you mean about panicking about the birth. One of the reasons I want an elective c-section this time is that I was told as I was so crap unresponsive to the attempts to induce me last time (even though I had some contractions) they wouldn't let me try for very long, I would have to be monitored ie strapped to a bed and I shouldn't be induced due to previous c-section so I don't hold out much hope, really! I really want a date booked so that I can organise my parents to come over (from France) to help look after dd while I'm in hospital.

This baby is really active now, I have started these CDs called "Music for the Unborn Child" which I used for dd. It is supposed to stimulate the baby (makes me go to sleep). Dd was definitely very alert, eye contact, unclenched fists etc. Even if all it does is give me an excuse to lie down for half an hour twice a day it must be good!

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 04/10/2009 16:16

hi all

i though i'd lost the plot when i signed in couldn't find the thread. thanks saz for the new one.

hope you are all feeling well this sunday afternoon. i am being extremely lazy, and my wonderful dh is making a roast dinner. with toffee pud for afters, mmmmmmmmm. wil will be huge.

i don't really weigh myself but when i did i hadn't put any weight on. but i have days when my bump looks really huge and get all the usual comments!! but then days like today when i looks really small and is quite soft as if theres nothing in there. pnut will then wallop me to remaind me that there is, but its really freaky.

not heard from you for a while london hope you and the girls are ok.

somewhathorrified · 04/10/2009 16:35

crumpette 10 weeks is 2 1/2 months still! Or 1/4 of a pregnancy.

Have to say feel sorry for the person told to strap me to a bed.

And isn't a bigger bump better...I mean more space to swim, better muscle development, footy practice etc. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

maygirl · 04/10/2009 17:17

I've seen the senior midwife sazlocks and they have agreed to pretty much your birthplan for waterbirth after csec (WBAC!)with intermittant monitoring instead of continous. They have also agreed to local midwifes coming to check me at home to be sure have established labour, so don't go into hospital too early. Birthplan also growing longer and longer by the day with my demands requests! For the times I will be on the monitor I plan to do it sat on the birth pool, my biggest mistake last time was giving in and getting on the bed for monitoring during my induction. No induction this time, if i get to 42 weeks I'll go straight for a c-sec.
Shattered after hen weekend, took the bump clubbing and got to bed at 1am!
Had a wonderful mother-to-be treatment while other hens did pole dancing class! She massaged my lower back for what seemed like forever, then went on the couch for leg and foot massage. Then she applied a moisture mask to my bump, covered with silk cloths, then gave me a mini facial! 1hr 30mins of lovelyness, I'd really recommend it!!

I can't go to the wedding in 2 weeks time, and had lots of hens assume was because was the baby was due, and were shocked not due till Jan as i'm sooo 'well-developed'!! Further twins comments too.

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 04/10/2009 17:18

see i am so lazy i can't even spell properly!!

impressive bump ctofn

i will conquer my IT illiteracy and post some pics sometime soon. Or i might just get my 11 yr old to do it for me.

Roast dinner all gone now off for toffee pud speak later.

Mama2b5 · 04/10/2009 19:29

SORRY I NEEDED TO VENT THIS ONE! ahhhh better!

flyingma · 04/10/2009 21:06

Thanks all for the lovely warm welcome. Mama2b5 I don't know where I have been these last few weeks... been running around like mad until I got grounded by the belly aches.

Don't know how I am going to go another 15 weeks at this rate

somewhat, I am hoping to have most of it done by then. I'm not moving furniture and stuff so it is mainly clothes, kitchen stuff and some books. That's the theory at least but is a real shame that I have to turn down all the free/cheap baby furniture that is being offered to me.
