CTOFN I have similar bump and now put on 1.5 stone, still about 10-12 all over and not too wide from the front, but side on have a full on bump.

After a few days of less movement, he's giving me full on kicks tonight and making me 'jump' with strength. I did just remember that I'm supposed to do pelvic floor exercises though so perhaps I've pushed him up and encouraged this!

Sleep patterns still awful, going to try to sleep now, have to be up at 7am.

devotion · 04/10/2009 23:26

Mama2b5 - that is so annoying!

I think a letter for now should do the trick.
Some people need to be pointed out the obvious so just send a short note saying you do not mind loud music being played now and then on weekends but after 11 is not on and before 10 on weekends.

I would say it wakes your children and you have a new baby on the way too so you need your rest.

Most normal people would respond by saying apologising and promising not to do it.

If they continue I think you need to call your local council Noise Pollution people who have to come out whilst its happening to catch them in the act and they measure the volume. So if you were to do that I would choose to do it when it was late.

For all who are nervous about birth I can not go on enough about the Hypnobirthing book I am reading, think I pasted the link before. I was terrified of giving birth until I read this and I am actually looking forward to it so try it!

I stopped weighing myseld last month when I saw I put 1 and a half stone on, I am now almost 24 weeks so I dread to know what it is now. Think I will not find out

devotion · 04/10/2009 23:32

excuse terrible spelling and grammar.

i was out dancing my belly away at a club until 3am this morning...

no I am not mad , it was a one off.

i use to work in the music business and my old company had a big party and I did not want to miss out on seeing lots of old faces.

we actually booked the taxi for 2am and i wondered if i would last that long but i made dh call and change time to 3am. i felt like i wanted to stay even longer but i thought that it was not normal for someone almost 6 months pregnant to dancing like a loon (so excited to be out... been a long time ). I noticed some people give me an odd look and i wanted to say, "No, I'm not on drugs or drunk... just excited!"

Do not know the next time I will be in a club again, not that I am bothered that much now anyway. But had a great time... beeeeeeeeeed!

Also - anyone going to the Babyshow at Earls Court?

Mama2b5 · 05/10/2009 09:39

Hi all - well no more loud music!!!!! yet!!!!
i feel like a party pooper but the time was abit extreme! i think
Wow devotion i can barely stay awake after 1.30am never alone dance with my this lil man inside me playing on my bladder!
back in the days i was a club hopper and went out all the time that was over 10 years now!
I FEEL SO OLD!when i dance around the house my DD 15 says "mum please stop, please mum!" if she could only see what i used to do in the clubs! well!!!! alas thats all behind me going to the clubs with all those younger crowd with hardly any clothes on makes me feel so uncomfortable i find myself saying "what has she got on"Old!!!!
i would just like to chill now and put feet up but, dont know when i should stop work so will keep it up as long as i can bare it!
Mumsnet is my new face book and i love it!
oh well better get work -

timmette · 05/10/2009 09:42

Hi everyone nice new shiny board. Mil was here for the weekend and kept mentioning my lack of bump - I know what she means when pregnant with ds I was huge already really big. Oh well I guess every pregnancy is diiferent. Had a good time with pils but am so tired today I will lounge about all day I think.
Have bought ds a fire engine as a present from the baby I will have to try really hard not to give it to him before the baby arrives.

devotion · 05/10/2009 10:44

timmette - ah thats sweet, I got my dd a doll from her little sister and she was more interested in that the first couple of days

This is my third and I am definitely smaller than with the other two but my ass and thighs are bigger!

Mama2b5 - my exboss laughed when I turned up at the club and joked that i would be the youngest in there. It was full of all the original ravers, back to old house and the majority were over 45. Still not old but no-one looked under 35. I am 30.

Just want to say 45 is not old but in clubbing terms ykwim

Most nights I am shattered by 10am, think I was just so excited to be out that the adrenalin kept me going!

Glad to hear no loud music at the mo, I would still drop the note in so they know that they have cheesed you off. 8am is far too early and I would do that to my neighbours.

We love music in my household and play it alot throughout the day and probably loud at times. But we never play it loud after 8pm (our kids in bed) and def not before 10am on the weekends.

x

devotion · 05/10/2009 10:45

sorry - i would NOT do that to my neighbours

somewhathorrified · 05/10/2009 11:19

Neighbours and their music! Last house I lived in had a teenager who thought he played his rebellious music loudly, ha! Lets just say our stereo with preamp and my taste in death metal soon put an end to having to listen to his music. Not entirely sure what to do about new neighbours grandchildren, not sure I want to go down the one-up-manship
road with screaming kids.

sockmonkey · 05/10/2009 11:28

I have started to panic a little bit. DS2 starts reception on 6th Jan for half days, then from 12th for full days. I'm due on 18th... so if baby is early, will miss settling DS2 in. (Plus not looking forward to waddling to school and back while very pregnant, cos it's hard work already).

I'm panicing that if birth is not straight forward how much pain it will cause doing the school run.

Not to upset any of you first timers, but birth of DS1 was pretty bad and I had a week in hospital, followed by a couple of months not really being able to sit down, never mind walking any great distance. I think DH will get 1 week paternity leave, and have not really got any family close by to take boys to school if I can't. DS2 was a dream birth in comparison. MW laughed at me when I said I felt I could do cartwheels in compared to last time. I'm really hoping this one will be the same.

sazlocks · 05/10/2009 12:18

maygirl that's reassuring to hear what you have planned and got agreement for from the senior midwife.
devotion - am in awe and respect !
No idea how much weight I have put on - lots by the way I feel lumbering around ! Still trying not to worry about it as it will come off again in the end.
Its strange how real the birth is starting to feel now - seems like a few others are starting to think about it too. I think I have been in denial up until now !
sockmonkey - hopefully it will all go as swimmingly as last time

Oh Mama2b5 is there a noise officer from the council where you live that you can phone? There is nothing more irritating than loud music. We had problems with noise (still some intermittent probs, but that's another story) when I was trying to settle dd into her own room, aahhhhhh! You have my sympathy.

maygirl · 05/10/2009 15:17

I felt the same out clubbing devotion! SO excited to be out, I kept looking around thinking, wow, it's going to be ages until I can do this again. I wanted to keep going, but a group of the less drunken people were leaving at midnight, so I thought I'd better leave with them as didn't want to have to leave later on my own if started to fade before the others! The bump enjoyed a wiggle to Shakira 'Hips don't lie', I've been learning bump belly dancing moves ! Everyone else too drunk to notice the bump I think! I did have to have a long afternoon nap to recover yesterday!

Hope your neighbours have calmed down on the noise front mama2b5

Just been ID'd buying wine for DH in supermarket. I'm 34! Not sure whether the be flattered or concerned that I must look 17, with number 2 on the way and a 3 year old in the trolley, so would have been 14 when started family!

Try not to worry sockmonkey, hopefully timing will work out and it will be lovely that you'll be off work for your DS starting school.

Fraochsmum · 05/10/2009 17:08

"La la la la la la la" (has fingers in ears while hearing horror birth stories)
I too am starting to think about the whole 'getting him out' scenario, though to be fair it is the only think throughout that has concerned me. I developed fantastic selective hearing after years of working behind bars (and really didn't want to hear about the previous night's exploits), and have regained it while listening to other people go on about their terrible time during labour/childbirth. Now I can only remember the ones where they got to 7cm with a TENS machine then went in the pool and didn't even have to push etc. That will do me nicely OK, I realise it won't be a walk in the park, but I think it is far worse to freak yourself out about it!
Go maygirl - Shakira, superb!
Sympathy from me mama2b5, not nice to be disturbed with the dull thud of the bass through the wall
CTOFN, I couldn't see your pics
Woke up yesterday with strech marks on me boobs I thought that as they had inflated by 14 weeks I was out of the woods. Still, it's worth it to have an impressive pair for the first time ever!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 05/10/2009 17:39

Maygirl - v impressed you got ID'd - I'd be flattered!!!!

Mama2b5 · 05/10/2009 21:07

Hi STBMAOFT-(soontobemumsagainorfirsttime)
yes Q.C,SWH,M.G, Devo,F.M- am on top of this noise issue, trust me i aint a pushover but trying to maintain abit of peace nothing worse then neighbours from hell!
Maygirl you bellydancing guru -
ahh sockmonkey - try not to fret it will all work out for DS2
im sure the school will understand if your in labour or in hospital! my DS has just started reception and it was his first day of full time he loved it and was all talk from the school door to the car to the front door to the kitchen table
bless, he talked my ears off!
oh boy todays weather sucked and walking down hill was fine it was walking back up that was hard and with my big coat i must of looked like an old women trying to get up the hill, small bump under coat so barely notice it!
this child seems to be in my bum and thighs because my belly isnt big so have gone up to a size 14/16 in most clothes!
Sore throat now i think! not happy!!

Have visions of self deciding to belly dance whilst high on gas n air in labour mama2b5 !
The belly dancing came about in a weird way, I had a strange dream I gave birth to this baby while belly dancing in my bathroom! We're thinking of getting a doula, and the morning after the dream I logged on and did a search in my area, the first one up on google had a link to a belly dancing for bumps DVD! I was freaked out for a bit, but then bought it thinking must be a sign!! Still not arranged a doula.
Got my MATB1, so can make it all official at work tomorrow, plan to finish on 23rd Dec, and go on annual leave till due date 28th Jan, cannot wait!!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 06/10/2009 14:40

I was just watching some daytime TV programme on home births and there was a lady on there who frequents belly dancing classes and swears by them for pregnancy fitness!!

Anyway - feeling quite pleased with myself as have just completed my hospital bag packing checklist, together with compiling a complete list of people and their home/mobile numbers for DH to call once deed is done!

So.... the list is done (separated by Labour/Op bag, toiletry bag, bag 2 (ward) and bag 3 (to bring in later) - think I can have a rest and no need to pack JUST yet !!!

ampster · 06/10/2009 16:16

I studied Egyptian dance ('raqs sharqi') for about five years and they taught us that the dance had its origins as a birth dance. Apparently the movements mimic some of the movements that can be used during labour to help ease pain. So I guess it makes sense. I've been meaning to take it up again for ages - maybe this would be a good time!

sazlocks · 06/10/2009 19:32

Evening all -
I am finishing work on 18th December which cos I work part time is 30 ish days - YAY. Can't come soon enough although I have a ton to do before I go
OMG CToFN - you are so organised. I don't think I did the whole bag list thing until about 35 weeks last time !
Do you think 7.45 is too early to go to bed ?!
DH gone out and I am quite excited about the prospect of watching crap TV in bed and having an early night. 37 ? feeling more like 97 today !

timmette · 07/10/2009 07:43

CTOFN you are so organised that's a great idea - I may have to copy it - lol.
Sazlocks I was in my pyjamas on the sofa at 6 yesterday evening - so no not to early.

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 07/10/2009 08:22

Hiya all!!

Hope all is good with everyone! Is anyone thinking time is flying by .

I realised its less than 16 weeks till i get to meet my little boy now but that means 16 weeks till i actually have to give birth!

Is it to early to be thinking about my birth plan now? I see the midwife tommorrow so i suppose i could try mentioning it to her.

Bump support - how do I go about it in the middle of the night? Last night i put a pillow under the bump while lying on my side as it feels quite uncofortable without one! If I need one always now where on earth with DH sleep!

As for maternity leave has anyone else got dates sorted? I go on 3 weeks holiday after my shift tommorrow and then straight onto mat leave! So im of to Illfracombe for a week, then 2 weeks of chill time, and then it will be sort the flat out for baby time! 2 more shifts till I leave work!! yayyyyyy
Yes leaving early as I cant face working 8 hour shifts on my feet serving customers with no sit down break or chance to eat, time to put my son first now i think!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 07/10/2009 09:18

Uh oh xx

CantThinkofFunnyName · 07/10/2009 09:51

I'm only 26+6 weeks ha ha!!! Due on 7 Jan but c/s likely for 17 Dec (so that only leaves me 10 weeks to go). And I've panicked a bit as Xmas is looming, I'm also coming into the midst of our family birthday season (!) so I know I've got lots of shopping to do - which I hate - so want to do EVERYTHING early early early and then put feet up and not move for the last few weeks!!

As I'm likely to be in hospital for at least 4-5 days, my bag is on the heavy side and I'd heard that taking in your own pillow and a single duvet is a bit of a godsend as the pillows and sheets/blankets hospital provide you with are not great. Will spend the first night and then decide on that one!

You will certainly need 2 different bags though even for natural labour - one for the actual labour and another one for when you go onto the ward - but your partner/hubby can bring that one up once he's been outside to make all the phone calls.

And for those saying I'm organised... many say anal!!
