Mama2b5 - if you've never had one then you deserve one. I think its nicer for you if you are not organising it.

Everyone should have one at least

Love the sound of your resting day... was kind of wishing when I went to the hospital on Fri that they would suggest I had to have bed rest for a couple of days... that would be lovely!

I rush about so much everyday I feel like I need it. I look so pale and tired all the time. Had my bloods taken last week so if I am low on iron I guess they will let me know.

I have not weighed myself and dont think I will I know I have put more weight on this time than last two times. Its funny because all that training I did for the marathon, I was the fittest and slimmest I have been since I was younger but yet my ass has doubled with this pregnancy ... all that sweat and training.

Ah well... food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Mrs Jammi - I've been having really awful - and quite frankly - niggly painful - BH since about 1pm today.....

bethoo · 10/11/2009 09:36

i think the only time i got bh was after an orgasm later in pregnancy
i wonder how many early babies there will be apart from the obvious ladies i am hoping this one comes late december so i can perhaps celebrate new year with a glass of bubbly and bring the new year in with all three of my children! purely selfish reasons really!!!
my day never seems to end, finish work pick up kidies housework prepare tea, wash up after tea and clean kitchen, feed animals, put washing on and put out, iron kiddies clothes for following day. cant expect dp to do anything as he works long hours so feel as though not pregnant half the time as never have time to relax, even going otbed is depressing as i am up every half hour weeing! am shattered. gosh i am moaning but i am so jealous of all these caring partners who actually acknowledge you are heavily pregnant! i only had a cup of tea at 7 and still weed gallons last night! getting to the stage where dehydration may be the way forward!

bethoo · 10/11/2009 09:37

i know it is pathetic that i am moaning about something so trivial when some ladies here have been through much more hectic things than me!

sorry ladies x

Hello everyone. Hope you lovely ladies are well today?

I've had my consultant appointment today to finalise c/s stuff and am a little disappointed as the date we were originally discussing has been put back. We were looking to do c/s at 37 wks but consultant has today informed me (as opposed to registrar I saw last time) that they will not do an elective c/s before 39 wks due to government guidelines unless there are obstetric reasons rather than mother health reasons. Baby's lungs not quite ready and all that. Apparently though with natural labour, the baby's lungs are prepared more because they are squeezed in the pelvis and birth canal and all the fluid is squeezed out, meaning their lungs are not wet anymore. However, the method of c/s delivery means that their lungs are not prepared in this way - even at term, their lungs can be "wet". Also, have it confirmed that they will sterilise me at the same time - woohoo!!!

So - I have a new date of 29 December and update the list below....

Bethoo - I'll definitely be having a glass of something nice for New Year. In fact, my mouth is watering at the thought of a glass of my favourite Rioja and some brie, stilton and biscuits om nom nom nom nom......

Hi all

Nice to hear from you london

Belated birthday wishes ctoafn bethoo your days sound so much like mine

Any way, went back to GP yesterday (the one who should of discussed bloods at sf appt) she is really lovely, all bloods back to normal, yah!!! so just to carry on and enjoy rest of pg.

Although i'm not up at all in the night for a wee, the spd when turning over wakes me up and then i can't get back to sleep, was awake from 1am until 6am on sun.

The spd is getting worse but have seen physio and theres not much they can do although I can buy a belt, got one free last time. Don't know if I want to spend anything when hopefully it will resolve after birth [fingers crossed emotion]

Only 16 days until mat leave. woo hoo!

30+3 and counting

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 10/11/2009 13:24

What date did you originally have? ctoafn and it will be a special day as thats my birthday.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 10/11/2009 13:30

Party - 17 Dec (37 wks exactly) which was ok'ed in principle by the registrar on last visit. Anyway, only 1.5 wks later and better for baby so I'll just have to put up with it. Am v pleased that it is all absolutely confirmed and booked now.

Outrageous they expect you to buy a belt! They should give you one for free!!!! I have one and crutches too - all free

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 10/11/2009 14:43

can't think was only waiting a couple of days for an apt (work with another pyhsio who referred me) but was told funding for belts has been withdrawn but if it gets really bad that I can't walk I can go back and get a pair of crutches

Its just nice to know things are sorted out - when they was umming and arring about my liver bloods, they were saying need to be delivered at 37wks (christmas weekend) which is fine but need to know as father christmas needs to be prepared for the other 4 dcs.
Drama over though but the professionals don't seem to realise that some of us would like to be a bit organised, especially over the festive period.

Could still need delivering a bit early depending on results from glucose test but will wait to hear on that one. happy days!

somewhathorrified · 10/11/2009 15:15

bethoo I agree no harm in having a glass or 2 of something at new years after all it's so close to your edd that your baby's basically cooked and ready to pop!

devotion · 10/11/2009 15:43

Two of my best friends both gave birth today at the same hospital -

First had her second child, was 10 days over and had a girl 7.14lbs

Second had her third and was due tomorrow and had a boy just over 9lbs.

So happy for them both and can not WAIT to see them.

Babieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!

My dh shakes his head and sighs, "women and babies, just like little girls with dolls!"

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 10/11/2009 15:55

awwwwwww babies. I do love em.

shinybaubles · 10/11/2009 15:56

Hi CTOFN glad you have a date now something to aim for and try and get organised - well I am trying anyway. DS was delivered at 38 weeks and he grunted a lot and had very strange breathing sounds because of wet lungs - was a bit alarming.

londonlottie nice to see you back.

Can I just ask tmi info warning has anyone else gone a bit nymphomaniac like this pregnancy or am I just strange .

quirkychick · 10/11/2009 16:06

CFTN my c-section is for 38+5. It was originally discussed for 39wks but this time the consultant said between 38 & 39 weeks. We just didn't want it on 10th as dp's birthday. I was told baby ready to come out from 37wks, but as you say, vaginal birth helps prepare babies' lungs better.

bethoo my dp has been helping out as I've been ill but I agree looking after dcs and being pg is very difficult! The getting up, bedtime routine is very hard work. All the clearing away after meals, cooking etc. is very wearing. Dp was shattered helping out last week, saying it was never-ending keeping the house tidy. True.

This morning we visited the school where I used to work on Open Day as we have to choose schools for dd next year. It was lovely to see people and have lots of congratulations. A lot of people didn't notice I was pregnant but I think I look enormous. I was wearing a black raincoat which does rather cover it up. It was especially nice to see lots of friendly faces as I have been inside the house for so long!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 10/11/2009 16:41

Hey ladies - Quirky yes, I'm going to be 38+5 too! It's actually 7 weeks today so I'm on a proper countdown now!

Shiny - no, I can honestly say I have not gone nymph like in any way, shape or form. My 2nd pg I did - but this one, I just am not interested . Have tried a few times but lately with the SPD, have told DH to forget it as I can't open my legs wide enough

And a big TMI alert coming up - for those that start going overdue and want to start it off - in my 2nd pg, DH was the one not interested in "a bit of the other" - didn't fancy pg women and all that , so when I was 10 days late, I woke him with (ahem) a BJ complete with porn star swallowing (sorry sorry sorry). Anyway, suffice to say, 2 hours later contractions started without any previous notice whatsoever!! for some reason, I'd read that the hormone necessary is absorbed quicker via the gut than via the cervix and I'd got the stage where I was willing to try anything. don't think DH was too unhappy either .

Devotion - so happy for your friends - what lovely news

FifiForgot · 10/11/2009 17:32

CToFN when I saw my Consultant to discuss having a section he told me the same thing, i.e. NICE guidelines state planned sections at 39 weeks for the reasons you were given. I just sat there and wailed said "you promised 38 weeks" so he gave in. At the time I was fed up with being pregnant (at 24 weeks!!) and would have happily delivered the baby there and then given the opportunity! We're looking 18/19 January which will be 38+1/2, I have to go back in December to finally confirm the date. My Consultant is delivering this one himself, at my request, so it depends on his schedule.

Shiny sorry, me neither! Positively the LAST thing I feel like! I couldn't even manage it when I was 12 days over with DD.

Party glad your bloods are back to normal

Devotion enjoy your cuddles!

Lottie glad to see you back and that things are OK

I'm off to the midwife tomorrow and then only have 4 more days at work - yippee. I just can't wait to have time to sort everything out for this one. Everything is still in the loft and s/he has nowhere to sleep at the moment!

shinybaubles · 10/11/2009 18:08

Yikes I am def a bit strange then

CantThinkofFunnyName · 10/11/2009 18:39

Shiny - I really wouldn't worry about it, it's quite norrmal - just not with our lot here !

You know, I really am v v v v happy now about booking the c/s. Am celebrating with a shandy - oooh get me!!

Mama2b5 · 10/11/2009 19:33

Hi all- congrats on getting dates, all clear results, plenty of rest and confirmations on C/S.
I suppose with C/S you can plan which must be great! i wish i could know when this baby is coming! have had so much hands off approach with GP/MW that by the time i go i forget to asked if i can have a water birth!!!
was looking at my room and getting flustered because so dont have space for anything in there!ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
This baby is doing some serious exercise in there! i actually wake up if i get a big kick and cant get back to sleep!
glad i get so much support from the family the oldest DD does so much she says shes the 2cond mum in the house to this baby, well shes 15 and so cant wait!
DH cooked a wonderful meal tonight, kids washed up and then went off to have baths so i never done anything all day LOVED IT!
More days like this is much welcomed!!!!!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 10/11/2009 19:51

Mama - that's wonderful. Quite right that you should be pampered now.

One of the good things about having the particular date I've got is that my 3 stepchildren will be with us, over from Ireland, so we really will have all of our Brady Bunch family together. This little one will be number 6 for DH. It also means we dont need to worry about babysitters as the 3 stepkids are 19, 16 and 14 so will be quite capable of looking after the 10 and 6 year old whilst me and DH are at the hospital having op. I then reckon we can call them and they can come up on the bus once baby is born, well, once I'm out of recovery anyway

Fraochsmum · 10/11/2009 22:02

That sounds lovely - a real family occasion
Shiny - I'm not one way or the other at the mo, but DP is very interested in the pregnant me! He stated yesterday that he loves me being pg and I'd better watch out! I am much more interested during the day cause I tend to get tired at night early, but is difficult to find comfy positions (and DP is paranoid about squashing cashew!). My friend only made love once when pg as she found it weird, have to say I felt very sorry for her partner!
Glad you are all getting your dates sorted out x
