OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Fraochsmum · 28/10/2009 08:11

Oh what a shame that you're not feeling so good hopefully they ease soon. I have to admit that I haven't had any yet, though I was expecting them to kick in before now.
If it's any consolation I had a really crap sleep. I have discovered the only thing worse than not getting in a comfy sleep position is DH not being able to get in a comfy sleep position! Then after ages of turning round and just drifting off...DH's fire brigade pager goes off! Still wondering how that will work with a new baby in the room...
Sorry to hear of the wheel trouble too, my sis had one of those and have had to change inner tubes several times and recommended that I went for one with solid wheels. Still, I wouldn't be fussy if I got one for nowt!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 28/10/2009 08:20

Yey - all gone for now! Not looking forward to these becoming regular occurrences over next few weeks. With my first DC, I was in and out of hospital so many times with "false labour". The BHs were really quite painful and were just like period pain cramps. Nobody seemed to say that real contractions were so much worse than period pain and that period pain just doesn't describe them!

And another thing, why can't my body/baby realise that it doesn't need to do BHs? I'm have an elective C/S so really no point (humph again)!!!

shinybaubles · 28/10/2009 09:26

CTOFN I am also having really quite painful braxton hicks, the good news is it has made dh actuallyh realise there will be a baby here soon lol. And I am also having a csection.

By the way were you looking for londonlottie? I can point you in the right direction.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 28/10/2009 10:01

Yes - I saw she was on another thread and mentioned she was in hospital on bedrest. She hasn't been on here in a while so I was just wondering how she and the little ones were doing?

shinybaubles · 28/10/2009 10:06

She is in hospital and getting very bored here. But she hasn't been back recently.

somewhathorrified · 28/10/2009 10:30

Ctofn, bless, you really are having a crap time. The only words of comfort I can offer are 'not long now'.

Poor Londonlottie, hope she's ok.

Am insistant that today I'm going to get off my ass and do something constructive, maybe make some more nappies. I'm so lazy it's not funny, currently wondering whether the new arrival will force me to change my ways.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 28/10/2009 10:54

Thanks Somewhat - I'm really feeling like a moaning minnie actually. I don't stop moaning do I?

I am sitting at the dining room table wrapping more Christmas presents this morning with DD. She is insiting upon writing out the gift tags in her best writing (bless). Have to keep moving though as back aches and let's not forget the heartburn (moan moan, whinge whinge)

On the upside - 7 weeks tomorrow!!!!!

somewhathorrified · 28/10/2009 11:24

Hey if you can't vent here about the pain in the ass that is pregnancy, where else are you gonna do it!

Please note the fact that I am still yet to get off my butt and do something...it's not looking good is it, d'oh.

shinybaubles · 28/10/2009 11:55

CTOFN do you have a csection date?

CantThinkofFunnyName · 28/10/2009 12:29

17 December!!!! Guess I'm going to be the first?

shinybaubles · 28/10/2009 12:59

Hello everyone!

Hope everyone is ok, have not posted in an AGE! Things have been so ridiculously manic the last month, have felt too overwhelmed to post tbh.

The good news is lots has settled down. Have stopped agonising about swine flu...and bit the bullet, just got back from the GP's having had the first vaccination. Am back in 3 weeks for the 2nd one. I think I have made the best decision for me and my family based on the info I have been given.

Have also pulled my maternity leave forward, so with annual leave, now only have 4 days of work left! Hoorah!

As a result, feel a lot less stressed and am looking forward to next few months.

Has Londonlottie been back to update us since she was put in hospital? ANyone know whether they have let her home yet?

Fibilou · 28/10/2009 16:01

I'm due on the 24th January, first baby. Booked in at Crowborough midwife unit and expecting a girl, Katharine Beatrice.

Had an extremely easy pregnancy so far, only problems have been loss of appetite (so much so that I'm still mainly in prepregnancy clothes but I'm a big girl - size 18 so not too distressed about that haha !)and a recent nasty bout of thrush.

Hoping for a waterbirth

quirkychick · 28/10/2009 16:15

Hello, how is everyone?

I had my Glucose Tolerance Test today, not something I hope to repeat. The Buccastem tablets from the gp stopped me being sick, so I managed the fasting and drinking of the (almost) pint of lucozade. I was just thinking that it wasn't too bad at that point. It's the waiting 1hr and then 2hrs without eating and feeling very light headed. I was then really sick on coming home.

Apparently the swine flu jabs haven't come in at the surgery yet. But they said in light of postal strikes they would find other ways to contact if necessary.

I have definitely been getting some BH but not painful ones. Usually when I am tired or hungry/thirsty.

I am much bigger this pg and I am just remembering how uncomfortable, tired you get at the end. I have another scan/ obgyn appt on Fri so I will see if I can book a c-section this time, was put on my notes but not a definite date.

I am somewhat organised for Christmas/birthdays. We have dd's presents and need to organise party (next month). We think we have decided on food for Christmas but need to order it. Feeling better as 6 family birthdays, Christmas and new baby will keep us very busy!

sockmonkey · 28/10/2009 16:35

What is it with all the birthdays around christmas? We have 8 family birthdays in dec/jan

Why am I adding to that number?

Glad you are organised quirky... do you fancy sorting out my family as well??

Mama2b5 · 28/10/2009 16:38

Hi SB - sorry you"ll be in hospital on christmas day but what a wonderful gift!
oh FL - sorry to hear about the thrush thing that so aint pleasent but easily treated!
QC- i am due to have mine done soon but i think im going to opt out this time, i hope it doesnt effect me wanting a waterbirth though!

Im so not looking forwards to christmas - this is the first christmas without my mum and just the though of business as usual just doesnt feel right! i know i have to make an effort for the kids but also loads of birthdays in december and so more money to spend!

shinybaubles · 28/10/2009 16:51

Hi quirkychick I have to go have that sugar test soon and have been delaying it doesn't sound much fun. Also feeling tired, huge and uncomfortable.
Also quite organised about Christmas at the moment.
mama2b5 I know what you mean I lost my mum when I was 20, but made an effort because she would have wanted it and ended up enjoying myself with a bit of sadness here and there.
No swineflu jabs here - I think... well the gynaecologist has not mentioned them? Maybe I should ask? Or maybe ignorance is bliss.

somewhathorrified · 28/10/2009 17:04

Ok so my good intentions for today have gone out of the window. Thought I'd have a listen to the hypnobirthing cd (as it's been sitting there for months) only to fall asleep on the sofa for 2 hrs...oooops . I only woke up because DH phoned.

fibilou welcome. I can't believe you are still in prepreggy clothes, I seem to be growing out of my preggy clothes!

Mama, I know a lot of peeps who have a candle on the table for absent ones at xmas. My friend had a candle for her dad at her wedding that stood where he would have stood.

Quriky how organised are you! I did ask Sil's for pressie requests for kids as I didn't want to be shopping in Dec this year, but have heard nothing! I'm gonna have to get snotty about it, or they'll all end up with a £5 boots voucher or something equally unwanted.
