CantThinkofFunnyName · 28/10/2009 17:11

Oh lord - candles on the table... I lost my mum in February and after Mama mentioend about her mum, it hit me that this will be the first without my mum too. don't think i could do candle on the table etc - it would actually be too much of a reminder IYKWIM?

Also on the Xmas front - my stepkids (19, 16 and 14) have not let us know what they want (and are usually quite specific). I've asked them a few times for their Xmas lists, they know the situation, I've told them that they need to get the list to me asap because quite frankly their dad is useless and in the case of SD (16), she will probably want clothes and no way will she want her Dad buying them! So - i'm thinking of getting snotty too if they want to receive anything!

FifiForgot · 28/10/2009 17:15

Afternoon all.

quirkychick sorry you felt so rubbish after the GTT. I haven't had that pleasure either this time or with DD, but I am waiting for my Midwife to suggest it. I'm measuring 2cms to big for my weeks, but I'm hoping that having growth scan in December will do instead.

mistletoekisses I'm still undecided about the SF jab. I can't seem to make any decisions at the moment, DH isn't helping either! I'm going to speak to my GP and see what she suggests. Lucky you with only 4 days left at work. I've only got 12 days left, I finish on 18 November and CAN'T WAIT! Mind you, after the day I've just had, I'm considering ways of not going in again!

I've just collected DD from Nursery and mentioned to the manager about registering the baby for a place next year and she said that she has 8 children registered already for 6 places. People must put names down as soon as they get a positive test result! We have no choice now but to register this one, even though I won't be going back to work until January 2010 - how mad is that?!

somewhathorrified · 28/10/2009 17:20

The candle suggestion was more along the lines of wanting to include a lost one, I understand that it could be a step too far. I was 8 when I lost my mum and my dad did everything to erase her from the house (xmas dinner that year was beans on toast!) needless to say that my perspective on this comes from a very different place. My christmas memories of her are orientated around the christmas tree and I always say something to her (in my head) when I turn on the tree lights for the first time. OMG just reread that and it sounds really gooey...sorry. My point was that everyone finds their own way, which is the way it should be.

Mama2b5 · 28/10/2009 17:37

hi all yeh i totally understand about the candle thing but i think it will be hard my mum was my rock and we always had christmas dinner at hers and made a big deal of us all being together! now its coming up i just don't want to face it! i know she would say stop being silly i also feel very emotional when i think of her smiling face! Its bday coming starting the 10th, 11th,16th,23th and 24th - then Christmas!

I cant face bday and christmas shopping so i may just get token gifts for kids, have to use wisdom and money will be tight the familys can all get board games for all to share! or game for wii to play as family i think!

i shouldnt feel down but it just a constant reminder that my mummy aint here anymore xx

quirkychick · 28/10/2009 21:15

Oh Mama2b5 that's so sad. I'm sure you will find something to remember her by.

I'm not that organised! But have decided to have small party for dd as in month's time and will find it knackering exhausting! I know I will not be able to shop too much more for pressies so am getting stuff as I see it rather than "ooh, I'll get that later" as I usually do.

I can't believe I'm so tired, if I don't get a nap in the day I've absolutely had it. The let's-put-a-dvd-on while I sleep mostly works with dd, who just says "go back to sleep mummy". Bless.

devotion · 29/10/2009 13:34

Mama2b5 - sending you a great big massive warm cuddly hug. I wish I had something to say to make you feel better xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

quirkychick - glad to hear i am not the only one feeling exhausted. I just can not get out of bed, I have having the most lovely deep sleeps each night as I go off listening to my relaxation cds and actually wake to do a wee in the night and I find myself in the exact same position i started off in which is unsual for me. I normally twist and turn for a good 30 mins before i go off and then i'm all over the bed.

but in the day i would pay for someone to come and look after my kids so i could sleep. especially at 3pm each day.

x

CantThinkofFunnyName · 29/10/2009 13:47

I need my sleep too! This has only just hit me - was exhausted first trimester, some of second and then ok. Now the past 2 days just want to sleep sleep and sleep - yawn. Not brilliant with kids at home in half term!!

Now for another moan (sorry). A old work friend of mine who lives v close (10 min drive) is due in Jan too. I have been to visit her since we got back in touch when we were both around 8/9 wks pg and she has not been to me yet. I do the trip in between dropping off kids to/from school. She has an 18 month old at home. We were due to visit another friend in Brighton a few weeks back but she cancelled day before as she felt the journey would be too much for her toddler [sceptical]. Due to SPD and not driving anymore, we arranged that she would come to me tomorrow. She has just cancelled again saying that she thinks it would be too difficult to visit in between her DSs nap times [sceptical]. It's a 10 min drive FFS. How hard can it be? Just feeling really pissed off about this. I seem to be the one who always travels to visit friends/family and now that I can't travel because of being 30 wks pg with SPD, no bugger will put themselves out to come and visit me!!!!

Harumph.

somewhathorrified · 29/10/2009 15:53

Ctofn some people are just like that, however annoying that it is you're not going to change them so why bother even trying or getting wound up! My IL's have never been to this house (3 yrs we've been here) it's just expected that we go to them. I am waiting to see if they think I'm travelling 50 miles each way with a newborn. Could be interesting .

Completely zonked here too btw, maybe it's something in the air, not just the tummy.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 29/10/2009 16:57

My sister lives 30 min drive away and the last time she visited me was at my DD christening, nearly 7 years ago! I know what you're saying Somewhat - just feeling a little fractious today I think . Counting the hours til I think its a reasonable time to go to bed!

alibobins · 29/10/2009 17:58

Evening haven't been on here all week i've been so shattered but can't seem to sleep
Ds at hospital tomorrow for surgery so going to be a long stressfull day as he doesn't respond well to the GA

On a brighter note only 1 more week at work whoop whoop. I got my surestart grant paid into my bank today so baby shopping here i come
I haven't got my health inpregnancy grant through as my midwife apparently wrote my due date as 1st October 2010 so its been sent to head office

Hope everyone is well

lilacpink · 29/10/2009 22:02

Hi all

alibobins - talking about grants, I only got 1 form from my midwife, should I be looking out for another form for a second grant? Or did you apply through work? (I work P/T, but not heard much from HR except agreement on my Mat leave dates).

On subject of SPD, my physiotherapist did say as my SPD started early (16 weeks) I may be one of the few who have it middle trimester only, and it seems to be the case. Having said that, now I can walk up stairs without pelvic pain, my bump is squashing my lungs so much that I run out of breath after 1 flight (I'm short so not much room left!). I'm also feeling v breathless at night: last night I had 6 pillows to keep me upright. I can't remember this with DD, is anyone else feeling squashed inside?

devotion · 29/10/2009 22:08

CantThinkofFunnyName - that is so annoying and some people are just not up for making an effort it seems. I've experience similar before.

Or I know a few people who are so anal about their routines that they wont budge and expect everyone to work around them. Don't get me wrong, having a routine for small babies is great and I did second time around but they all need to be flexible and if things are different one day then so what?

Try not to let yourself get stressed about, try not to take it personally, she isnt so dont waste your energy.

I have been so short tempered today and shrt fused about stuff that my 6 year old said a few times - "Thats a bad word mummy!" - Ooops!

I am just fed up as both girls have been sick since last Wed and one is still sick. Took her to gp and he said it sounds like she is at the end of a virus and if it has not gone by Sunday to start a course of antibiotics. She has a cough (mild) cold and keeps getting a fever every 12 hours for some reason.

hope you are all feeling well.

x

alibobins · 30/10/2009 08:17

lilacpink I got the surestart form from the job centre you can claim if you get tax credits really didn't think i'd qualify as me and dh both work.
Off to spend the day at the hospital with ds now

CantThinkofFunnyName · 30/10/2009 09:34

Morning all. V v v bad tempered today. Cleaner comes today so that means the house needs to be somewhat tidy and have blown my stack at DCs and DH for never bothering to tidy up after themselves. DH tells me to get a cleaner and then proceeds to bring 3 archive boxes of files home from an old office 3 weeks ago, they sit on the living room floor, threatening to trip me up all bloody day and basically are winding me up BIG TIME!!! Do you think he will move them? Will he f*ck! Later, I get in response. 3 weeks later I've had enough. And the kids - harumph, don't get me started. And do you know what DH had the gall to say (7 years after promising to get the bloody snip and then chickening out and STILL not getting it done) - I know you're uncomfortable but there's not need to take it out on the rest of it. Jesus - he's lucky he is alive this morning!!!!!!!

Anyway, hey ho - sorry everyone, that's how I'm feeling today. The joys the joys of pregnancy hey!

somewhathorrified · 30/10/2009 10:14

Devotion have you tried giving you dd onion soup, garlic bread etc...can help loads with breaking fevers and viral infections.

Ctofn, I'm sure the cleaner won't mind cleaning aound the boxes. Why don't you stick the kids in front of TV with a pile of dvd's and go back to bed, have a bath, or just do something that indulges you...sounds like you need it.

showmethemummy · 30/10/2009 10:48

erhmm hello everyone ...yes it's me having not posted for a while but lurking and reading only...

alibobins hope when you read this all has gone well with your ds at hospital.

devotion must be really frustrating with sick kids for a week! My DD2 vomited twice on Wed eve and I thought AND SO IT BEGINS ... winter season of illness is upon us.

However she was fine yesterday, but I'm not! yesterday i was having ridiculous harsh cramps in tummy, everytime I drank or ate anything (even water!). will see how today goes.

ctofn please do not attempt to remove my crown for being officially the Grumpiest Pregnant Woman In the World. The only person who has not felt the Wrath of this PGW is the baby. Maybe we should start a grump thread!

btw am having a (third) girl. Anyone with two of same having third same getting annoyed with the 'oooh will you be trying for a whatever' and also [sympathetically] 'do you mind it's another...'
(see i told you i'm grumpy.)

CantThinkofFunnyName · 30/10/2009 13:51

LOL at showmethemummy - grumpiest pregnant woman in the world!

Anyone else getting night sweats / really really hot whilst sleeping?

Lord something not right with me today, feel quite unwell, stomach, exhausted etc and of course grumpy!

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 30/10/2009 14:08

Hi everyone!

well i have been lurking reading everyones updates I never know realy what to say!

Seem in similar boat as most of you problems with night sleeping and I end up being awake through the night and then from about 3/4am am up properly! I need to sleep in the afternoon and am contemplating having a nap soon. I have finished work now am on holiday till 5th November then I start maternity leave! So having a very long break before he arrives

just over 12 weeks till his due date!

FifiForgot · 30/10/2009 16:28

Hi All

devotion/showmethemummy DD is ill too. She woke up this morning and was promptly sick twice. We have both been laying on the sofa today (me too exhausted to move) and she seems better now. At least she is eating which is a good sign!

iate I don't seem to have too much trouble sleeping at night, I do wake up in the night for a bathroom trip, but seem to get back to sleep again reasonably easily. I still need to sleep in the afternoon though. I'm hoping that this will ease once I finish work on 18 November (11 days .....).

ctofn I have a similar DH, it takes him ages to do anything, it often ends up in a stand off!

alibobins I hope today went OK with DS and it wasn't too stressful for you.

We have people coming for Halloween tomorrow - as long as DD is OK. It will be total chaos in the Fifi household and I am going to be shattered, but the children will have a ball!

Have a good weekend all

shinybaubles · 30/10/2009 17:05

Hi everyone I also have trouble sleeping and seem to spend half the night going to the loo. I am also waking at 5.30 every morning for no good reason .

I also have a strange burning pain on the left side of my tummy button - anyone else?

Half term starts now so I have ds to entertain - thankfully we are going to visit my sis halfway through next week and she can take charge .

Hope all your little ones are feeling better soon.

alibobins · 30/10/2009 19:21

Thanks for the messages we home an ds is currently asleep next to me everything went as well as it could and ds has has some pain relief whilst in theatre so should be okay till morning.
Me I'm shattered so early night I think.
Baby doing weird things with his toes lol

showmethemummy · 30/10/2009 20:31

glad to hear that alibobins. how do you know it's the toes you're feeling?
i'm convinced this one has 4 elbows. she's definitely far more active than the other two were.

dd1 also complained of tummy ache this evening... blergh.

hope all have good weekend

alibobins · 30/10/2009 20:33

I'm hoping its his toes lol sometimes I wonder

quirkychick · 30/10/2009 21:09

alibobins glad your ds is ok.

I too am very uncomfortable, heartburn, still some sickness, tired etc. My bump is very low this time which means sitting is uncomfortable. Does anyone know if those support bands are any good?

I had a growth scan today, all ok and normal. It still looks like a girl. I booked my c-section too and am now booked for delivery on 12th rather than due 21st. So I will amend the list.

hope all is well and kids are well enough for halloween!
cant believe i have 9 weeks to go!
my sister in law had her first baby 9 days early so cant wait to go visit as soon as they are more settled.
i ahve not been on as it is half term and the creche also closes so took a week off to get used to the SAHM experience and blimey, my hats go off to those who do it. it is bloody hard especially as i have always been one for me me me time! but it has been nice and sure it will get better once i get into some sort of routine as i have never been one for that!
