Memorylapse - great news and lovely pic!

Sorry to all with bleeding gums, that sounds really miserable Luckily I'm able to brush my teeth this time round - oddly, I think the electric toothbrush helps.

MoggMum · 25/10/2009 19:43

LuckyC I feel the same and really down in the dumps too
ml congrats re your scan - will look at your profile photo when I figure out how to do it!
Kazmog try taking your folic acid tabs with meal. My problem is I keep forgetting to take them - in fact I keep forgetting lots of things at the moment!

Just told MIL about pregnancy and she's upset me a little by going on about Amniocentesis test when I haven't even had my 12 week scan yet. I know it's because of my age and she's got me paranoid now .

Is anyone considering having the test?

pamelat · 25/10/2009 19:43

Congrats ML and great pic

Had never heard of the nub theory but have found the photos of my DD from her 12 week ish scan and it would have worked on her!! I now can not wait for the scan date to come through, please no more postal strikes

I still feel dreadful in terms of cold. Waking most of the night too, is anyone else? I go to bed about 9, asleep by 10 (quite usual for me) but then I wake around 2 or 3am for about 2 hours, including to wee, but that isnt what wakes me initially. I am shattered as DD wakes about 630 and I am just drfint back off by 5am.

Do you think it would be terrible to take tomorrow off work ill? I am able to do basic things, post on here, clean, look after DD but I feel exhuasted and feel a day in bed with DD at nursery would work wonders. Is that a bit naughty? It is only a cold but I do feel bad.

itshappenedagain · 25/10/2009 19:51

hi moggmum, i will be having the test for amnio test for downs and i am 25. freinds of mine have ahd it too and some are younger than me. it is routinely offered, but tell your MIL to mind her own business, as only you and DH will decide what is best for you.
hope that hepls

itshappenedagain · 25/10/2009 19:52

excus the spelling...im having a melt down as my TV seems to have packed up!

pamelat · 25/10/2009 19:53

My midwife mentioned amnio test but I wont be having it. I'm 31 but would rather not know and just deal with what happens. Appreciate a lot of people might want to know. I would be offended if family members asked me, I think its down to health professionals and yourself, in confidence.

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 20:03

Moggmum..Its nothing to do with your MIL..its a decision for you and your DH to make..Im 37 but im not having an amnio

Pamelat..if you are really poorly take a day off work..otherwise you may end up more run down and need more time off..hope you feel better soon

MoggMum · 25/10/2009 20:08

Thanks itshapp and pamelat for your advice. Would love to tell MIL to mind her own (and probably will very soon !). There's so much to contend with at this stage (not helped by constant MS) and we all want good scan results and healthy babies.

MoggMum · 25/10/2009 20:10

Thanks ml, we're a similar age so that's good to hear. Can I take a day off work tomorrow too due to emotional stress?

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 20:17

I think everyone should have a day off tomorrow due to illness, stress, MS etc

MoggMum · 25/10/2009 20:18

Excellent, I'll tell my boss ml said it was ok

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 20:27

ok..but I take no responsibility for shoutyness from boss

LolaAnn · 25/10/2009 20:32

wow ML great news on the scan that is fantastic stink that you were all worked up for an avoidable situation though, oh well I guess all MWs see it differently.

pamelat I would definately have a sickie tomorrow. If not you are likely to get into a worse situation due to stress and lack of sleep etc just do it and don't feel bad about taking it either.

itshappenedagain · 25/10/2009 20:34

would love to have a job to take a day off from...could you all possibly take 1 day off after each other and i will go and get some more work experience!

suey2 · 25/10/2009 20:59

Great news ml!

Moggmum I will wait to see the results of the nuchal test plus bloods before deciding on amnio or cvs. Last time my risk was 1/3500 so I didn't test further: I was 37 then and am 39 now. I will obviously discuss with my ob, but I guess if the risk is greater than say 1 in 100? But I'll follow her advice

thanks all. have had toothache for 6 weeks (on and off but always at night) so may take day off with my cold and also try to get emergency dental appointment. It sort of justifies it to me then. Works been too busy to go (and it never hurt much in the day) and then I cant imagine taking DD to the dentist, what if I were to need treatment? She does not really do sitting still yet.

I will sleep for everyone, if the guilt does not over whelm me.

TomlinTowers · 25/10/2009 21:32

Hi All

ML - lovely pic, what a relief to have a positive scan! Still feel a bit about the original MW who caused so much worry, sometimes they can give you too much info imo.

I have a week's holiday this week - lovely! DH was away last night so I went to stay with my mum, was back in my old room with DS1 in the room that my dsis used to sleep in - mum got all emotional about how time moves on etc etc! It was so lovely to go back home and get my dinner cooked and go to bed without having to do washing, ironing, cleaning, packed lunches, etc etc - may go and stay there forever, or at least until I feel better!

Sorry to all those still getting ms - mine seems to be easing a bit in that I get it later in the day now, but still have to eat small but regular meals every 1.5 - 2 hours to stave off the nausea.

DH has been on a beer festival yesterday with his mates from uni - he has come home stinking of old beer and curry (he says he had garlic tikka). It is all I have been able to smell all day. Usually doesn't bother me, but with my super smell-sense, the stench just makes me retch! He has had to stay at least 5 metres away from me all day to prevent vom-disaster! Garlic tikka and all curry is now off the menu until such time as I am ready to actually give birth, and then we can have curry every day!!

Lolaann - we used to have cottage hospitals up here which sound similar to the NZ set up. My mum remembers giving birth to my dsis in the main hospital, and then being transferred for a week to the cottage hospital where you got all meals etc, could sit and chat with other mums, get support with feeding (although that was mainly learning about sterilising bottles as it was the early 1980s) and all in an atmosphere that was much more like a friendly hotel than a hospital. Sounds great to me - I wish we still had them....but it has now all been converted to an out-of-town shopping centre .

cupcakefairy · 25/10/2009 21:38

Evening ladies... 5 more sleeps to go til my scan and dh has commented that my boobs seem to have grown overnight good sign I hope!

ML lovely scan pic..I showed dh that that's what ours should look like on Friday and he was quite stunned! Can't believe something so small has a face already.

Ooh we need a new home soon don't we.. maybe I'll toddle off to create one so we still have room to link to it!

cupcakefairy · 25/10/2009 21:42

new thread!

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 22:18

cupcakefairy- thanks for starting a new thread will pop over there in a bit.
Dh and I have been examining the pic and it looks like the baby is sticking its tongue out which makes us chuckle!

schipo · 25/10/2009 22:36

MoggMum, my sympathies re your mil. I'm a couple of years older than you and decided not to tell any family until all those tests are well behind me. This time next week i'll be very nervous!

ML - I'm pleased your scan went well - i'm amazed actually that you can even get a scan on a sunday. congrats

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 22:39

schipo..its a private clinic based in stockport called Ultrasoundnow, they scan every other sunday at a small clinic near me in St Asaph

pamelat · 26/10/2009 08:37

ML,St Asaph, thats where my DH's family live! Small world.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 26/10/2009 10:57

Just in case anyone misses it...

NEW THREAD, FOLKS!!

MoggMum · 26/10/2009 12:25

schipo.. wish we'd kept it quiet too but following early scan at 8 weeks have only told family close. Work don't know yet but at the rate I'm expanding they must be wondering if I've been eating all the pies!
Is this your first too?
