Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
itshappenedagain · 20/10/2009 21:53

hello all! im still worried about my scan on friday, have had spotting and pain and sickness stopped a week and a bit ago.
fingers crossed all is well...a friend is coming with me and she is s midwife, but has told me she wont touch me till ive had this scan incase she makes me worry more.
fingers crossed for you all xx

memorylapse · 20/10/2009 22:39

itshappenedagain- how far on are you?? it may be just time for the nausea to stop

Hollyoaks- Thank goodness your DH is ok.I know they say things come in 3's but the 3rd thing could be something boring like your phone bill..fingers crossed

Hollyoaks · 20/10/2009 22:42

Hi Brightred

My ds lost her ds last year at 28 weeks as she had a liver infection that crossed into her bloodstream and eventually infected the placenta and waters. This made her waters break but the little one was too sick with infection. This time was completely unexpected and unexplained at the moment apart from the consultant mentioning that you have higher risk of premature labour if you've had one previously. Glad this time has been a better outcome.

Dh has been back and has now gone to A&E with the other lad who was in the van as the paramedics encouraged them to be checked over after a high speed collision. Thankfully it just looks like whiplash and lots of bruising but by the looks of the van if they hadn't had their seatbelts on the outcome could have been significantly worse. It turns out they skidded across the dual carriageway because of the rain and then flipped and rolled twice taking out two trees.

Don't know if these last few days make me feel extremely lucky r unlucky. Just pleased I've been carrying a cross in my jeans pocket for the last two days. I wasn't that religious before but think I'm changing my mind.

itshappenedagain · 21/10/2009 09:48

im 12+1 but have had previous miscarrages at 16+4, 17 and 18+6, so we will have to see. it may just be time for the nausea to stop, but i will worry till i see little heart beat again on friday. im very glad that this thread is here, as i dont want to tell family and have only told baby daddy and 1 friend and that was because she saw me in emergancy room, dont want to tempt fait.

AnAngelWithin · 21/10/2009 09:50

morning all. i feel so tired and awful. dd2 been up since 4am being sick.

hollyoaks hope your DH isn't too sore this morning. I remember my DH having an accident last year, he was sore a few days after for a while. Your DH sounds like he got out pretty unscathed considering!

LuckyC · 21/10/2009 09:54

well, I think I spoke too soon about nausea being over. Lats night was very grim. Poor DH with me in bathroom making terrible 'RAAAAAAAH' noises (sorry disgusting image). Back on the crackers this morning then!

lizzie I am so pleased about your news, we were on tenterhooks here waiting to see if scan was all good.

hollyoaks congrats to your dsis too.

schipo loads of my friends did not have a days' sickness and have wonderful dds and dss, so you I reckon you should just feel lucky!

Viv at your wedding dress fitting comment - please save me going back through the thread and tell me where I can go and see your dress again? It's SO exciting, I love weddings.

LuckyC · 21/10/2009 09:56

hollyoaks goodness, just read your post properly! Hope DH OK. Sounds terrifying tbh.

pigleychez · 21/10/2009 15:20

Hollyoaks- Hope your DH is ok
Congrats on yout new baby neice

not much to report here. Terribly tired which is currently being made worse by DD. I think we have some more teeth coming through making her very unsettled at night. Only got 3.5 hours sleep last night so feel like a walking zombie now!

10 weeks here now and have my booking in appointment on friday.

memorylapse · 21/10/2009 15:58

itshappenedagain-I can understand why you feel worried..my last two pregs ended in miscarriage at 16 and 23 weeks, so tbh I will not relax until Im holding a baby in my arms.

12+1 today and still being as sick as a dog

brightredballoon · 21/10/2009 16:10

Hollyoaks what awful circumstances for your Dsis with her previous baby, how is your niece doing?

Sorry for all those with sick children/other halves. It's tiring enough being pregnant and having to be nurse on top really takes it out of you.

I had my scan this morning and all looked ok, I still feel a bit nervous about telling people though, even my Mum said I should wait until 16wks . Baby was being a bit lazy which concerned me but the Doctor said it was fine. Then had the massive booking in appointment. The only downer on my appointment is when the lovely consultant came in and said I couldn't use the Midwife led unit as I have had a cs before and that I will require constant monitoring so hooked up to the CTG monitor for the whole of my labour surely that doesn't sound right? I know some people go for a homebirth after cs sure asking for intermittent monitoring isn't putting my baby at risk? I would never risk my baby's health but am wondering if I should just opt for an elective now as I don't think a labour laid on my back with those uncomfy plastic tight stretched monitors round my bump is going to bode well for a successfull VBAC?

brightredballoon · 21/10/2009 16:12

Itshappenedagain and Memorylapse gees really sorry to hear about your losses at those gestations, of course it is very sad to lose a baby at any time but mostly you sort of relax a bit once you've had the 12wk scan don't you. Here's praying that the next 6/7months prove uneventful for all of use and that the moment of holding babes in arms arrives xx

memorylapse · 21/10/2009 17:05

Brightredballon..it took us 4 years to pluck up the courage to try again and weve agreed that whatever happens..this is the last time.

Glad your scan went well..dont worry about baby being lazy..when I had my scan at 12 weeks with ds2 he was absoloutely still..after much prodding and poking..the sonographer turned round and said.."this baby is asleep and I cannot wake it up for love nor money!"
he is still a laid back child to this day

Hollyoaks · 21/10/2009 18:20

Thanks for all the messages. Dh and his work partner were checked out at hospital last night and both have got away with whiplash and a few scratches. Very lucky when I saw the state of the van today at the scrap yard. The roof and side were ripped off and I think the cab would have caved in had not been for the reinforced bulk head.

Niece is doing well, been off the oxygen today for short periods of time and coping well. She could be home in a few short weeks .

So, I'm counting myself and my family as very lucky this week. I think someones been watching over us all. Just wish they could take this ms away

brightredballoon · 21/10/2009 18:21

Ohh ML hopefully this baby will be chilled and relaxed then as my other two are quite the opposite!!

Lola how was your scan today?

memorylapse · 21/10/2009 18:40

Hollyoaks-youve definitely had a protective hand over your family this week, glad to hear DN is doing well and that DH and his friend are ok, DH will probably find that he aches like blazes for a few days so I hope the hospital gave him some painkillers.

BRB-they reckon that unborn babies personalities are already apparent by the end of the first trimester so I guess it could be looking like you have a laid back baby

lizzie9442 · 21/10/2009 18:50

hi everyone, have added my 12 week scan to my profile if anyone would like to see it. I am still feeling so sick really thought it would be getting better by now. So tired all the time as well. Normally in the second trimester I have lots of energy so hoping that will happen soon xx

memorylapse · 21/10/2009 19:03

aww lizzie what a lovely pic..I was really disappointed with my 12 week scan pic..you can hardly make it out

sweetkitty · 21/10/2009 21:36

Evening all nothing new to report here tough rough day, just feel so rubbish all the time.

memorylapse - hope time speeds up for you a bit, I agree though you don't breathe a sigh of relief until you see that baby

lizzie - nice pic glad it all went well

brightred - I am the same we don't make chilled laid back babies, fiesty wee madams here who know their own mind and aren't afraid to tell you and they seem to be getting worse the more I have, DD3 is frightening. Which hospital was this at, did you get to RAH (was it RAH cannot remember?) MW was going on at me about the risk of PPH with a fourth baby and saying you would be home in 6 hours trying to convince me to go to Wishaw but I'm not so sure.

Hollyoaks- what a week, so glad your DH is OK and your niece will come along fine too

pigley - hope you get a better night tonight, B has cut her fourth molar she didn't fuss well we probably wouldn't have noticed anyway she is so grumpy at times.

I'm off need to find a hiding place for some of the toys I bought today, Boots were doing a double discount thing, then I'm off to bed.

brightredballoon · 21/10/2009 22:36

SK yes it was RAH. The consultant was very nice and said he is following the NICE guidelines. I just couldnt face being hooked upto those monitors for the duration of labour, I mean how do you deal with the pain and help dialation by lying on your back!?
Pressies sound good, I was going to have a look online as think they have a 3 for 2 offer on don't they?

ML ooh that's given me hope then that not all my children will be as adventurous and enthusiastic as the other 2! THey are adorable but hard work sometimes!
Same with my scan pics, they are very hard to make out.

Lizzie great pic awwww.

LolaAnn · 22/10/2009 11:44

BRB thanks for asking!! My scan was so cool I was very excited, had a lovely lady doing it who even snuck me the pic for free haha!! So turns out I am only 10 weeks exactly today, slightly disappointing but so excited, to be honest I didn't believe there was a baby in there at all - I haven't had MS or anything and only really feel a little tired.

Anyway I could see its little arms and legs wriggling away and it did some sit ups, and heard/saw the super fast heart beat it was incredible. Sorry if im going on lol but wow I was totally blown away and kept saying oh my gosh oh my gosh. I hope this little alien baby stays stuck in there!!

Anyway because I am only 10 weeks they booked another appt for me for my 12 week scan, I must be winning the luck of the draw for scans where I am or something! So yeah Nov 6 I have my real 12 week scan will be 12+1.

Anyway I have put my alien babeh pic up on my profile its a bit hard to see because I took the photo of the photo with my phone camera :S but I still am in love hehe.

memorylapse · 22/10/2009 11:55

glad the scan went well Lola..I still never fail to be blown away by scans, despite having had 4 children!

well as of today everyone except me in the household has suspected swine flu..gp went through a questionaire and they tick all the boxes as it were..gonna paint a red cross on the door
still feeling horrificalloy sick am back on the cyclizine to try and get some restbite

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 22/10/2009 13:01

Golly, I need to get better at keeping up! Feeling so terrible at the moment that most of the time I can't even face sitting at the computer

Sorry to everyone with bad news

Congratulations on all the lovely scans! I'm so impatient for mine. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow but still have to wait till the 9th November.

Re: swine flu jab - My BIL is a very pro-vaccination doctor and said that he wouldn't want to have a vaccination until it had been licensed for a few years so I'm not going to have it for that reason. As far as I understand it the main risk is that swine flu will affect a pregnant woman more because we don't have the ability to fight things off as well but that there shouldn't too many inherent risks? DD was asked to be part of a swine flu jab trial but I don't want her to do it. She'd have to have loads of blood tests as part of the trial and I don't want to put her through that unless it was necessary.

Memorylapse - hope your family are all OK with SF!

VivClicquot · 22/10/2009 13:03

LuckyC Sorry for the delayed response - was mental busy at work yesterday. My dress is Ceylon by Ian Stuart. My concern is that at my last fitting (the day that we conceived - hahaha!), they decided to take quite a lot in around the bust and waist. So now I'm fretting that we should have left it as it was... Anyway, the fitting is tomorrow, so I will come back and let you all know if I'm spilling out of the top like some busty milkmaid.

Lola Your post made me well up a bit - it's such a strange feeling to fall head over heels in love with a grainy bean on a screen, but I know exactly what you mean.

LittleOneMum · 22/10/2009 16:22

SnowBunny1 · 22/10/2009 16:40

Hi All

this is a bit long, so sorry in advance.

Firstly a big congrats to everyone and sorry to those who have had bad news.

I have been reading but I haven't posted on this thread as don't like to be too optimistic until I've had scans etc as I mc'd at 12wks previously and had already told everyone. Fingers crossed this time.

However just had to speak to someone and I know what good listeners you all are.

My stats are Snowbunny1 EDD 22 May DC#2

I was really excited today as I had my booking appt but when I got there it was a bit of a let down.

I'm a bit concerned about the mw actually as she wasn't interested in anything other than filling out a form for my blood test.

When I had DD the mw spent ages asking questions regarding my health but this time they didn't even ask if I smoke or drink or am taking folic acid. She gave me my file to take away and said to fill in the relevant sections and see her again in 4 weeks, didn't even write my name on the top or tell me my EDD. No blood pressure, weight or questions about morning sickness or other symptoms. When I asked if it was safe to carry on running she only said as long as I don't use my stomach muscles?!?!

Not even a mention of Swine flu vaccine, which I thought was supposed to be rolling out next week.

My other concern is that I have an underactive thyroid and when I told her she didn't know what it is so I'm assuming that she doesn't know that it can affect the baby.

Am I overeacting and being a bit hormonal or should I be concerned?
