Hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
memorylapse · 24/10/2009 13:19

my hospital dont charge for prints and certainly dont charge to tell you the sex!..

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 24/10/2009 14:32

No my last hospital didn't charge either, so this is why it seems like a scam. Plus it says if the baby has its legs closed, they might let you have a quick walk round, but if the genitals aren't visible on the day it's tough sh!t and you'll have to pay for another scan! At least with somewhere like babyvision they'll try again another day free of charge if they can't see the first time.

Had a big bowl of shreddies around 9.30am, then it got to 12.30 and I was so hungry I felt sick and faint, and kept having to sit down while I cooked some lunch! Felt better after a big bowl of pasta and half a baguette, think my other half is amazed at how much I can eat (or how often?) at the moment, but the sudden attacks of hunger are totally overwhelming aren't they??

Hello - sorry i havent posted for a while. My sympathies to anyone having difficulties or losses.

I was wondering if anyone else is struggling to take the folic acid tablets? They don't make me feel so good...

I have my booking in on Thursday evening and scan on Friday morning (fingers crossed)

pamelat · 24/10/2009 20:00

Hi all, my DD had a lunch nap today so I did too (TWO whole hours!!!). I was still tired afterwards.

Fortunately DD behaved wonderfully for most of the afternoon (new trend in last few weeks, thank goodness!!!!). Am already dressed for bed though, with yet another roast dinner in the oven.

suey2 · 24/10/2009 20:35

Kazmog I was, when I was ttc. Switched to folic acid only. Since being pg, I have gone back onto pregnacare, but only on a full stomach and I'm ok. HTH

LolaAnn - I would love to meet up, but unfortunately I am based in Manchester.

James - That's really strange, to pay extra for finding out the sex of the baby.

As far as I know, it is possible to tell the sex after 12 weeks. Does anyone know, if I go for private scanning, will they tell me it earlier?.. I don't really know why I am so obssessed with finding out the sex as soon as possible, while I will be happy for both .

memorylapse · 24/10/2009 22:08

Im a bit worried about DH today..its over a week and a half since he first became ill..and he is feeling breathless, I want him to get checked out but he refuses..he had pnuemonia last December so its a bit worrying.
The DC'S seem to be over the worst..Im wondering when I will get it, my GP does not seem keen on the vaccine when I phoned to ask for advice because the others were ill, I mentioned the vaccine and she changed the subject.

going for a private scan tomorrow and am really nervous

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 24/10/2009 22:55

Tamuna, if you read about nub theory then I think in many cases it is possible to guess the gender at the 12 week scan, but you'd need a clear scan and to have a pic taken down the centre of the body so the direction of the genitals can be seen.

As far as I know, most hospitals won't hazard a guess at the gender at 12 weeks, but if you get an obliging scanner she might take you a suitable pic so you can make up your own mind. (This is what we're hoping, although I doubt I'll get a clear enough scan as I'm overweight) It's all about the angle of the dangle apparently!

ML, sorry your dh is so poorly, maybe you could ring NHSdirect, see what they think?

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 25/10/2009 09:00

I think they can't be as sure of the gender at 12 weeks either, but there's no harm in asking! My MW told me early on last time that she thought it was a girl because of the heartbeat (very fast) - although apparently that's just an old wives tale.

Memorylapse - sorry to hear about your DH Hope the private scan today goes well.

I'm get very hungry at the moment too! I really ant a roast dinner today

AnAngelWithin · 25/10/2009 09:44

hi all. hope you are all ok. my gums are bleeding really badly, and i am finding it hard to clean my teeth without retching

ML I hope your DH is better soon .I would get him to the docs asap. Hope the scan goes ok today for you.

We are all starting to get over this horrid bug we have had all week, even DH had it and couldn't go into work yesterday which isn't like him, he NEVER has time off ill! Poor dd1 is still throwing up everything that dares to pass her lips though bless her.

Just debating starting the pre-christmas clear out of the kids bedrooms....ho-hum....

suey2 · 25/10/2009 10:24

I thought they couldn't tell until 16 weeks? I'm not going to find out anyway. LOL, though my brother said he saw a 'hamburger' on the 20 weeks scan so knew it was a girl, although they weren't planning to find out.

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 25/10/2009 10:52

The private place we go to won't tell you the gender until 20 weeks in case they get it wrong, won't be that long until 20 weeks though. Don't think anywhere NHS would guess at 12 weeks.

I am more miserable than usual today, have stinking cold, nose and sinuses all blocked up, head throbbing and chesty cough oh on top of the usual MS have taken 2 paracetamol whoppee.

anangelwithing - I am the same bleeding gums, retching whilst brushing teeth, usually I brish, throw up, then brush again. Your poor family hope you are all on the mend soon.

memorylapse - good luck for tomorrow

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 11:27

DH has promised to go to the doctors tomorrow..Im off for my private scan at 2 pm and am really nervous.
Sweetkitty and angel..I have bleeding gums too..good old hormones eh??

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 11:31

Sweetkitty..sorry you are feeling so poorly..if you think its become an infection at any time do get along to your gp..I had a chest infection at 31 weeks with ds1 which was not nice.
in the meantime steaming helps and its safe to sniff olbas oil

AnAngelWithin · 25/10/2009 11:59

yeah hormones have a hell of a lot to answer for!!! Hope the scan goes ok ML. x

SK hope you feel better soon x x

suey2 · 25/10/2009 14:02

Back from scan

Ive uploaded my pic to my profile..everything looked fine..baby was really active and at one point looked as though it was sucking its thumb!...you can make out its facial profile, little nose etc..I could see its tiny hands waving about...HR was 158 and nuchal was 1.5mm which sonographer said was fine..she could also see the nasal bone as well. My placenta is posterior this time which is good as I had an anterior placenta with dd2 and I couldnt feel her movememts very well..the clot is still there but small..the songrapher said that in her day job she is lead sonographer at wynthenshawe hospital in manchester and they see loads of timy SCH's at 12 week scans..she said had I come to her as an NHS patient for my normal dating scan..she wouldnt have even mentioned it to me, she said they only worry if it is big, keeps getting bigger etc and she said by big, they mean, the same size as the gestaional sac..she is convinced it will be gone by 20 weeks...I hope so...

AnAngelWithin · 25/10/2009 15:33

thats fantastic news ML!!

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 15:36

thanks Angel..have popped one of the piccies on my profile

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 25/10/2009 15:51

That's brilliant news ML, congrats!! (PS, I may be completely wrong but according to the nub theory thingy, that looks like a girl to me!)

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 15:59

OOh do you reckon?? I forgot about that nub theory..I keep thinking Im sure I know what sex this baby is from my sickness but I keep changing my mind!
Scan put me at 12+5 two days off 13 weeks but I still feel horrific!

itshappenedagain · 25/10/2009 16:11

hello all! im feeling much better today, like something has suddenly clicked and all has become real. im off to a party this evening ( and have been trying on clothes for days which conseal but do not make it obvious, fingers crossed all works out!
hope all of you that still have sickness get some respite soon.
take care
xx

itshappenedagain · 25/10/2009 16:13

ps great nes ML, lets hope it gets smaller as time goes on.

Hollyoaks · 25/10/2009 16:44

Ahh ML gorgeous pic, glad everything went well and its all good news. [hsmile}

I'm retching whilst brushing my teeth too, and if I cough or get hiccups. I've also noticed too that my sense of smell has got much more sensitive much quicker. At the moment I can't stand the smell of tea, coffee, dh's deoderant, mint, our washing powder, dh and dd. I find this one of the worst symptoms as it feels like it will never return to normal.

LuckyC · 25/10/2009 18:06

hollyoaks and angel I could have written exactly the same post as you. I feel like MS is really peaking now - but don't just feel nauseous, feel really grim - ill, shaky?, weird. Wonder if this is low iron/ bp? Might go and ask. If it is, I would rather know now than wait 6 weeks til next mw app.

ml great news!

Roll on my scan Weds....
