sparklycheerymummy · 16/11/2009 13:50

was referring to pre eclampsia above!

GoldenSnitch · 16/11/2009 13:52

I've got loads of discharge too Annie. Been going on for about a week now. I'm only 34 weeks though!!

I will definitely not be refusing the IV ABS. My MIL is a respite carer and cares for a little girl who was born perfectly normal, then got a GBS infection and is now blind, deaf, dumb, brain damaged and not expected to live past about 6.

hi all,

amazingbouncingferret i too have made a new best friend with the toilet but mine due to the lactulose (i love it, never felt so good).

Had MW appointment on friday and she told me i have high blood pressure she told me to make a doctors appointment for today. Been today, Doctor said my blood pressure has returned to normal range but now have protein in my water, another appointment made for thursday for blood pressure and to check sample again. In the meantime they sent a sample off. MW also wants to see me again this week, so i have week full of appointments. Had an argument with the doctors receptionist about booking another appointment on doctors request she just kept telling me they were full, and i said doctor had asked me to come back. She was really unhelpful so i asked her what she suggested i did then. Now have appointment booked. They should have taken my blood pressure after that.

on top of this MW mentioned a couple of things on friday during appointment that makes me think baby could come early, she said the baby was engaged alreay, which is unusual in second pregnancy . She asked me 3 times if i had my hospital bag packed just in case. and when making my next weeks appointment she siad if you have not given birth by then . I am not due for another three weeks. I also think i may be early though as i was with dd.

Not sure i am ready though, sort of cant wait as not sleeping much etc.. but really enjoying time with dd since i broke up for maternity leave.

Any news claire?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2009 14:01

I also think im abnormal (well actually know I am but thats another thread...) Alot of you mention not being able to breathe when lying on your back but I cant breathe when lying on either side and find lying on my back the most wonderful thing ever, wonder why that is?

I was also wondering how Claire is getting on. Hope she got to see XFactor.

sparklycheerymummy · 16/11/2009 14:32

Yes hope CLaire is ok and maybe we will have some news soon!!! Just had some heinz veg soup ....yum yum. am needing constant snacky meals to ward off sickness only its not really working.School run again shortly!

BexJ78 · 16/11/2009 15:30

hi all, baby feels like it is really pressing down on my bladder now, lots of the time. It is a good job I have finished work! I have packed my bag for hosp and finished all my antenatal classes, so now just need to wait! seeing MW on friday for 38 wk appt, so that is something to look forward to. hope everyone is ok and that we get some news from Claire soon!

Milliemuffin · 16/11/2009 16:13

Hi all, totally bored now. DP took the day off work and DS is at his grandparents as MW was supposed to turn up for our first home booking appt but still no sign so we've waited in all day and now i'm really sleepy and a bit p'd off

We've got some more sorting out done but didnt wanna start anything big incase she turned up.

Someone cheer me up please!

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 16/11/2009 16:14

Damnit damnit - I think GP receptionists must be like this everywhere in the country - ours definitely are and I have had several near-rows over the phone when trying to book appointments either for me or DS - they seem to think their job is to guard the GPs and not let anybody see them!

Try and relax and enjoy the short time you'll have with DD on your own - that's what I'm concentrating on with DS now. Things feel like they are going to change so much when the little one comes

x

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 16/11/2009 16:16

Grr Millimuffin your MW sounds like mine - totally unreliable. I know they have emergencies to deal with but a 20 second call to let people know wouldn't hurt would it?

Anyone else finding it really painful to lie on either side now because of hip ache all night? It is such an annoying pain, just a dull ache, almost not worth moaning about, but just annoying enough to keep me awake.

I feel like moaning should be an olympic sport and I would get the gold no problem at the moment

x

madmissy · 16/11/2009 16:50

wow we were busy chatting today! trying to catch up lol

final stretch girls 35 weeks today i suppose i best start thinking of packing a bag!

felt rotten all day where i had my anti-d yuk yuk yuk

Claire236 · 16/11/2009 18:38

Still no baby folks. Still having contractions which seemed to be getting stronger earlier on then I had diarrhea & thought things were really starting to progress but contractions have eased off again now. Thinking about going into hibernation to avoid people asking if I've had the baby yet. Does it damn well look like I have. Feeling tired, frustrated & generally hacked off in case you hadn't noticed.

LaDiDaDi · 16/11/2009 18:43

Lots of stuff going on on this thread today!

I've got to go for another growth scan at 8.50am tomorrow as I'm only measuring 30cm at 34+2 weeks. I'm feeling a bit worried about it.

BP etc fine and baby's heart sounded fine today, scan 2 weeks ago gave an estimated weight on the 50th centile so shouldn't be scared but I am .

Scorps · 16/11/2009 18:43

I'm ok on my sides, it's just sitting up that makes me really breathless unless i'm poker straight!

My MW is fantastic, i really love her .

They are short staffed round here for home births; I really want to birth at home. My hospital is 40 minutes clear traffic away in a city, i can't help but think Xmas traffic may be worse. Last time i laboured for about 2 hours at home until she was born so i don't think i can make it to hospital this time, but what happens if there are no MW's?? I suppose i will know when i labour, they will tell me what to do on the phone i suppose. Though i won't try to get there if i think i can't iyswim, maybe it will be a paramedic birth. Feel a bit unsettled, though MW will clarify next week at 36 week appt.

Have got final things (big nightie and pants) today for birth prep. Big nightie to labour in - its short and has lots of buttons so when dd2 is born i can undo them and put her up my nightie. Pants for after, as i don't own pants that take sanitary/maternity towels. To any first timers, you need alot of maternity towels as for first 24 hrs ish you need 2 at once. I like Boots ones. I have to pack a small bag incase now

Seems funny some of you talking about your labour is it/isnt it, when i'm still only 34+3 (try sex!)

Scorps · 16/11/2009 18:46

Oh LaDi dont be scared, MW may not have felt baby right or measured correctly I'm measuring 32 wks at 34 weeks - are you normally a small lady? What was other dc/s weight?

I got rushed (literally!) to have ds2 growth scanned at 35 weeks - they thought he was very small. Immediately sonographer said all ok, and i had an 8lb 1oz boy at 39+1

Catz · 16/11/2009 19:16

Ladi - I was measuring 3 cm too small with DD and she was exactly on the 50th centile at birth. Also measuring a couple of cm small with this one - indeed the woman in Holland and Barrett almost refused to sell me any raspberry leaf tea today as didn't believe I was in last 6 weeks (am 37+3). Despite this, according to the scan I had last week some of his measurements are off the scale - went in worrying about too small and came out worrying about too big!

Also having a - ahem - close relationship with the toilet at the moment.... Hoping it's an early sign but not sure how to tell that from just being ill...

LaDiDaDi · 16/11/2009 19:33

Thanks Scorps and Catz.

I am normally slim but I had been thinking that I wasn't getting ny bigger iyswim.

Dd was 3lb 3oz at 32+6 weeks which placed her betweein 2nd and 9th centiles but I had pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome last time so my placenta musn't have been doing a good job for a couple of weeks before I had her at least. It also means that I'm not that trusting of growth scans as I had one at 30w last time and got an estimated fetal weight of 4lb .

GoldenSnitch · 16/11/2009 19:36

Cot is up

Starting to feel prepared now.

DH has admitted that he has looked up which is the closest hospital to CP - just in case

Mybox · 16/11/2009 19:40

Have a check up tomorrow. I've had gbs with two of my dc - but labour too quick for antibiotics so dc had antibiotics for one or two days in hospital afterwards.

Think dd has moved as back not aching as much - she was back to back. Plus feel really hungry when I'd not normally be. Off for some toast!!

Milliemuffin · 16/11/2009 23:02

Typical - I post at 4.15 moaning about the MW not turning up and guess who knocks on the door at 4.25!

BP 100/65, babies heart rate 140 and I'm also measuring 32 for 34wks but not worried. Head is down and bum is to one side although he was wriggling around loads!

Its actually starting to sink in now that we're going to have a newborn in the house, that i'm not worried about but a newborn AND a 2yo? DP reckons DS will be fine but I'm still worried, he's so used to being a mummy's boy, gonna be hard being torn between the two and trying to still be there for DP aswell, not gonna be easy but its gotta be done!

Anyway, seeing as MW did turn up and DS was out DP and I went to pizza hut which was lovely (really quiet in there) but as you can imagine my acid indigestion is pretty horrible at the mo, worth it though, was nice to eat out and just the two of us, no rush, no child to watch, clean up etc. I highly recommend it!

sleepychunky · 17/11/2009 06:36

Hi everyone, rejoining the thread after not posting for months. I'm 37+1 today and this is my first day of maternity leave, which is why I've got time to read and post! DS is going to childminder and DH is at work so I have got a whole day to myself and I know exactly where I'm going to be, and it's warm and soft with a big duvet! DS has moved from his old room into his new room with big bed, and his sleep has gone to pot. From sleeping 12 hours every night plus a nap up to 2 hours every day, he's now not napping at all (or hardly) and we're having a real battle getting him to sleep and stay in bed. I'm exhausted and although I'm really looking forward to the baby arriving, I don't want it to be early at all as I want DS to have a few more weeks to settle down in the new room.
I had a scan at 35 weeks and baby weighed about 6lb 4, so guessing it's going to be around the 8lb mark this time - DS was 7lb exactly so I'm pretty sure it's going to be bigger than he was. Head is down but not engaged, but all the limbs are down at the bottom as well, so I'm not sure how that's all going to work - I have the picture in my head of the midwife attaching a rope to all the limbs and pulling him out like a vet would do to a calf!
Anyway, will check back in more often now I've got more time

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/11/2009 08:13

Has anyone else got the stretchmarks from hell?
I didnt have any last time, well not until afterwards anyway, but this time sometimes I can almost feel my skin around the bellybutton stretching it can be so painful. Ive almost used up all my mum to be cream so I might go and treat myself (!) to some bio oil, see if thats any different/better.

Milliemuffin · 17/11/2009 09:37

Hi girls, does anyone have days where they wake up feeling really down for no reason at all? How do you snap out of it? Going to a friends later this morning which will cheer me up but dont know why i feel so down. Have no patients with DS this morning and thats not fair on him. Just feel v

GoldenSnitch · 17/11/2009 10:22

I was like that yesterday Millie, then I took DS swimming and he was super well behaved and did everything the instructor asked him to and it snapped me out of it and we had a much better afternoon.

I was so grumpy in the morning with him and I felt awful.

Feeling very of everyone who's DS's have nursery or CM at the moment as I could really do with a day just to potter and nest. At the same time I feel awful for wanting to have some time out when we should be making the most of our last few weeks together. Feeling very mixed up and hormonal.

I feel like I'm just one big stretch mark from boobs down to my knees ABF. I was doing really well until the last few weeks with DS then I got loads and this time I seem to have developed stretch marks on my stretch marks!!
