Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ive now started eating pineapple after avoiding it all through pregnancy! I'll start on the rasberry leaf tea next week. I refuse to let this baby be late!!

To add to my stress DS has been offered a January placement at nursery, 4 mornings and 1 full day. He's really excited, trouble is Ive been invited to meeting on the 8th Which is a tues and my Childminder cant do Tuesdays, so need to arse about finding ch9ildcare for that and then DS has an induction on the 10th!! The day before im due!!!
Feel slightly bad about it too because im scared he'll think im packing him off to some strange place whilst me and the baby stay at home.

GoldenSnitch · 15/11/2009 10:18

When's the earliest you're allowed to start taking Raspberry leaf and pineapple?

Consultant said they no longer to ELCS before 39 weeks (20th December) to give the baby's lungs time to develop properly so I don't want her out too soon but it would be nice if I wasn't in hospital for Christmas as DS is just getting excited this year and I'm heartbroken at the thought of missing it

GS, I'm feeling like that too.

I'm going to try to push for 38+6 which will be 18th of Dec or 39+2 which will be 21st. Refuse to be in hospital on Xmas Day for the sake of dd (3.6).

GoldenSnitch · 15/11/2009 10:50

Those are my choices of dates too LaDiDaDi

I'm going to ask for the 18th I think - I'll be 38+5 but will settle for the 21st (39+1) at a push.

Stupid, grinning, condescending consultant was telling me that they can leave me to go over 40 weeks for a section if necessary - obviously having not listened to a word I'd said about not being comfortable attempting a VBAC in a hospital that made such a hash of DS's birth! There is no way I want to go overdue and risk going into labour! A 2nd EMCS is by far the most dangerous option for both of us according to what I've read - surely far more dangerous than being a day or 2 before the magic 39 weeks!!

Oh yes, the doc I saw in clinic last time did suggest to me not giving me a date until after my due date. Ha Ha Ha! No way. I want this baby out for Xmas!

I've got a midwive apt on Monday and then I'm next at hospital at 36+ weeks. I will not be leaving clinic without a date!

GoldenSnitch · 15/11/2009 12:19

Always a day behind!! My Midwife appointment is Tuesday. She's promised me that she's going to try and get my Placenta scan done before we go to CP just in case it is still low as obviously I don't want to be hiking round Elveden with a Placenta Previa!! Otherwise, it's booked to be done on the 2nd December which might be for the best as I've already been warned that I could be admitted for the last few weeks if it is. That really scared DH as he started panicing about what we would do with DS

Hopefully it'll have moved as it was low lying anterior at 20 weeks - which is right where they need to cut for the section! - and would mean I need a consultant surgeon, a consultant anethstatist and someone else special as they'd need to cut right through it! Not a bad thing in terms of quality of care but a bit of a pain for bleeding and jeapordising getting out of hospital quickly.

Next consultant appointment is 37+1 and I WILL get my date then

Woke up last night with a 4 min braxtonh contraction - wondered if the real thing but nothing afterwards fortunately. Was too tired to contemplate giving birth!

Scorps · 15/11/2009 16:45

Seems funny you all picking your dates

I am fretting about what to do with dc if afternoon labour during xmas eve or day or something...will have to ask some people if they mind!

I'm 34+2 and just feeling so full of baby. She feels really low down and i feel all ratty. Sigh.

Catz · 15/11/2009 20:57

Mybox - I've been woken up with BH for the past few nights too. Last night I had some that were more like the real thing too (after pineapple and raspberry leaf tea at dinner) but unfortunately not.

Hope all is well Claire.

GoldenSnitch · 15/11/2009 22:26

Yey! Catherine's room is cleared and painted. The curtains are ironed and hung on the new curtain rail, the light shade is up and her drawers are slowly filling with clean clothes and my hospital bag stuff.

Hoping to give it a good vac tomorrow and put the cot up.

Feel like we're getting there now and we might actually be ready for when she arrives

Such a relief!

Catz - had my dc5 three weeks early in super quick time so wondering if dc6 will also be putting in an early appearence. So the strong bh's make me think goodness is this it. The difference was the combination of backache but with dc3-5 I didn't think I was in labour when I went to the hospital - was my dh who insisted!!

GS - good going on the room - sounds like you'll be completely ready very soon.

madmissy · 16/11/2009 11:05

arrrgghhh im anemic was hoping i had got away with it this time around.

hate iron tabs

sparklycheerymummy · 16/11/2009 11:43

My morning sickness is back can you believe it.... I am 38 +2 Its no fair!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2009 12:29

sparkly, I know how you feel I often have mornings/days where im really sick. Its definitely not fair!

I either have a stomach bug or pineapple doesnt agree with me

Took DS upto the nursery today, the walk wasnt to bad even in my horrible fat state. Ive let them know about being due on 11th and they said its ok if someone else comes to meetings or they wont worry if I dont turn up!

Scorps · 16/11/2009 12:36

Sparkly - another other signs? If you are being sick/poohing alot thats a sign your body is emptying out for labour

sparklycheerymummy · 16/11/2009 12:44

I have been terribly constipated and so taking lactulose..... yes been a lot this morning but i dont know if its the medicine or what..... also have a niggly headache, baby less energetic...... would love to think i was starting labour. Am def restless..... can't sit, sleep, rest etc AM concerned I wont recognise the signs..... with my dd my waters broke first so i went straight in. I carry strep B so have to go in and if my waters dont go first what if i dont realise. Labour has to be at least 4 hours long so i can have 2 doses of anti biotics!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2009 12:49

What date are you due sparkly?

sparklycheerymummy · 16/11/2009 12:58

scan dates have all been 28th NOv but my LMP date is 4th December!

GoldenSnitch · 16/11/2009 13:02

Don't want to be alarmist but I thought my MS had come back when I was near the end of my pregnancy with DS - but it turned out that I had pre-eclampsia!

Headaches are another sign. And DS slowed down moving...

I was induced so never got to the restless, body clearout stage so wouldn't recognise it and it may well be the same but if I start feeling sick again, I'll definitely be calling the midwife after last time.

OP posts:
Scorps · 16/11/2009 13:07

I have the clearout each time, a good hour or more before anything else starts, but i never recognise it until hindsight.

If baby is moving less you should ring MW, better they pop out and check

Stigaloid · 16/11/2009 13:13

I have had MS everyday of this pregnancy I can't wait to not be pregnant again so i can eat without running to upchuck.

Sparkly - am strep b positive too and my DS got infected - have same concerns as you - although i had some pre-labour pains before my 'active' labour was only 5 hours so am really worried i will go so fast this time they wont get the AB's in and i will be in hospital for a week again giving baby post birth AB's, which means being in for Xmas

Unless she comes early......(reaches for pineapple)

GoldenSnitch · 16/11/2009 13:23

They haven't even checked me for GBS but I have a big yellow sticker on my notes anyway cause I had it last time!

OP posts:
AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2009 13:30

careful Stig, Ive made a new best friend in the toilet because of bloody pineapple!! Either that or my body is doing that clearout thing that scorps mentioned, baby is being far to active for that though I think. 3 weeks to go for me (im ignoring the other 4 days) so im kind of hoping to hold on a teeny little bit longer (but not too much!)

anniebigpants · 16/11/2009 13:42

Im another one who was Group B strep positive last pregnancy, DS was not affected but still have to have iv abs 4 hours apart two lots. They didnt bother swabbing me this pregnancy as said i could be carrier one week and not the next and vice versa. Was going to decline iv abs, but have changed my mind after reading some of the desperately sad stories on MN of newborns who either died shortly after birth, or were seriously ill because they were infected with GBS.

I feel, well, a bit strange, cant put my finger on it. Loads of BH, some lasting a good couple of minutes or more, im restless, was up and down during the night, having loads of discharge (sorry if TMI), having almost constant mild period type pains. My due date is 2 weeks tomorrow.

sparklycheerymummy · 16/11/2009 13:49

I havent been checked for GBS this time but because I had a heavy growth of it last time i am in the high risk group. dd had it on her cord but fortunately not in her blood so after 72 hours of anti bs she was allowed home..... she was treated before blood test came back as a precaution...... but looking back noone explained what it was or what the risks were. My bp is slightly high but not bad.... 140/68. NO swelling etc or protein so not that. My friend is still suffering with is and her son is 4 weeks old poor things!!! My waters broke at 7.30 in morning and labour didnt start till 9.30pm that day..... she was born 10 hours later. They only tested for it because she was born 24 hours after waters broke otherwise i wouldnt know xx
