Good luck Claire - hope all goes well.

I'm 37 wks today so theoretically could be any day now, but in reality am thinking will be at least a month... I have bought much raspberry leaf tea and a pineapple and am bouncing on my ball but hosp bag not yet packed and Christmas far from sorted so I think I'd be shocked if anything did happen!

ViktoriaMac · 13/11/2009 16:21

Good luck Claire!!!!

I have waited in all day for the consultant haemotologist to get back to me about the bloody awful blood test results I got back this morning. Have been taking vast amounts of iron, but body is not absorbing. My print out says URGENT TREATMENT REQUIRED but have left messages with everyone all day and GP, Midwife, and myself can not get through to haemotologist. My mother keeps texting saying "have you heard yet?" Which is only stressing me out more. Just want some answers from someone. 35 weeks today, yay!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 13/11/2009 16:29

Ive just had a bizarre experience in ASDA.
Was meandering down the wine aisle admiring all the lovely bottles...
When I felt something that felt like when I come on my period, was a bit unsure so hurredly went to check out and pay for shopping, listen to nice check out lady talk about her son being born on 20th Dec etc etc, when I felt it again but more of it, at this point Im convinced my waters are slowly leaking (have no experience of this last time midwife broke my waters for me)
Didnt mention anything to my dad, who was with me, didnt want to panic him. So anyway get home, go loo, check, NOTHING THERE!

Now it felt like (TMI here) a considerable amount of liquid leaked from me because I was paranoid it could be seen as I walked to the car, how is that possible?

sparklycheerymummy · 13/11/2009 16:43

NOt sure but I have been wearing pads for a while due to little leaks and the fear of them

AmazingBouncingFerret · 13/11/2009 16:45

Yes I think I might start wearing them!

cairnterrier · 13/11/2009 17:09

Just to say good luck too Claire!

LaDiDaDi · 13/11/2009 17:19

Good Luck Claire! Keep us up to date if you can x

Thank you AmazingBouncingFerret! Glad to have found the thread again...really missed reading everyone's comments! x

GoldenSnitch · 13/11/2009 20:57

I went through a feeling faint stage too...the doctor did a blood count and I had low blood iron and needed tablets. Might be worth getting it checked out Millie?

Welcome back JoseyM

Had my bloods done 2 weeks ago and all was ok. I was anaemic with DS but have been ok this time round. Do however have low BP, 90/60. Feel ok now, just sleepy, think it was just a sign that I needed to stop and sit down for 5 but with a 2yo and a DP with manflu (a cold!) its not easy.

Wonder how claire's getting on???

madmissy · 13/11/2009 23:00

MM we're so similar! i have dd1 whos nearly 4 and dd2 who was 2 in sept. my bp is low all the time just take it easy i avoided anemia this time so far too had it horridly with the girls i was on the awful iron tabs

claire hope you're doing ok!

cairnterrier · 14/11/2009 08:14

Hi MM

I get this lots too - I've been rescued from all sorts of situations where I've had to sit down v quickly Usually I'm not too bad getting around the supermarket cause I'm walking but standing at the checkout is a complete no-no!

Unfortunately no words of wisdom other than sit down as soon as you start to feel faint (otherwise you WILL go over) and stick your head between your knees and make sure that you're getting enough to eat and regularly. Also make sure that you're drinking enough so that you're not dehydrated.

Hope you feel better soon.

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 14/11/2009 09:26

I've been taking spatone iron supplements which are liquid and you add to orange juice, just for a boost. My iron levels were on the low side, as well as low BP, and MW said it doesn't hurt just to keep them topped up. It definitely helps and I even notice the difference on the days when I forget to take one.

Agree with Cairnterrier though, just make sure you sit down as soon as you can. Standing at checkouts etc is definitely the worst part.

x

Claire236 · 14/11/2009 13:51

Thanks for all the support. I'm still at home. Been having contractions about every 15 mins since early hours of yesterday but they're still no stronger. Hope things don't go on like this too much longer - also hope I don't go into proper labour during X Factor.

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 14/11/2009 13:52

My mw recommended liquid iron supplements too or vitamins esp for pregnant woman just to top up my iron levels. Am now on Pregnacare tablets and they work a treat. Only feel dizzy on the days I forget to take one.

Moosy - I've booked a hb too, had double appointment with mw last week and we talked all through it and she's filled in the forms (including the detailed directions from hospital to our house. Very helpful that it'll be Christmas and therefore easy to spot our house by the outside tree lights ). However she's not mentioned dropping off a bag/box of things before hand. Had heard from other threads that it is usual for the bag/box to be dropped off early. Can you tell me what's in there? And do you think I should ask her about it next time?

Mybox · 14/11/2009 14:06

Hope you can get some rest Claire - best wishes

Milliemuffin · 14/11/2009 15:26

I had a home birth with DS (or would have done had we not transferred in at the last minute as i wasnt able to push him out) but we never had anything delivered prior to delivery. Our MW's (in herts) keep everything in their cars and if they need more g&a (other than the 2 cannisters they carry) APPARENTLY someone else brings some round but cant say for sure on that.

Keep us posted claire, enjoy x factor! xx

Moosy · 14/11/2009 15:48

Biscuits, in the box is: a load of the waterproof mat things they use, some pads, gloves, sharps bin, yellow bin bag, that kind of thing. On the day they'll bring their own box of stuff which is all the more medical stuff and the G&A. I think it varies depending on where you are but it might be worth mentioning - I think my MW had forgotten before I reminded her!

Scorps · 14/11/2009 16:05

I had millie at home; they bring everything on the day.

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 14/11/2009 17:42

Cheers for the info ladies. Will be seeing someone next week who was also booked in for a hb with the same hospital so will see if she had anything early. Was told by mw that they only carry one cannister of g&a, anymore has to be collected from the hospital by someone known to us!!

Fingers crossed for you Claire, getting excited for you

Told DH about Claire and all of a sudden progress is being made on Catherine's room

We got the old wardrobes down today and all the holes in the walls filled. Hopefully will get some paint on the walls tomorrow and then the cot can go back up and we can fit the blinds and we'll be 90% of the way there.

Feel so much better now.

She's kicking like crazy too so I think she's pleased.

Now if we could only think of a middle name for her....

Hi I had a HB with DD1 and had a box of stuff (as mentioned mats/gloves/label) also Vitamin K and synto for third stage placenta delivery if required and G&A delivered on 5 November and she arrived 29th. The physio dept of local hospital also lent me a TENS machine.

This time I had my bag of stuff dropped off on Monday last week, no G&A, no TENS but now have synto in fridge and vitamin K in the cupboard. I am in a different area now though so it seems different things apply.

Signed my life away and did risk assessment with MW on Monday as high risk now apparently as CS last time.

Good luck everyone, home straight now.
