Mw appt today, 34 weeks.

Millie - I have a new baby (7.8lb) size next one, and a new baby (10lbs) mothercare snowsuit. I have a p&t and tbh I think a cardi hat and blanket is enough in there!! Maisie will have blankets for first few weeks then grobag. We have a stokke sleepi mini crib for her so had to get big blankets. She will wear vest and sleepsuit in bed.

GoldenSnitch · 11/11/2009 08:28

My Mum has told me not to buy a snowsuit as "that's the kind of thing someone will buy for you" So I'm taking that as a hint and holding off.

Like Scorps, I have a P&T with a cocoon though so I doubt she'll need a snowsuit most of the time. Cardigans, hats and a cuddly blanket will probably be enough. One would be handy for car journeys but I'll probably go with blankets over having to take the thing on and off every time she goes in the buggy.

Catherine will be sleeping in a crib for the first few months so won't fit in a huge sleeping bag. She'll have a vest and sleepsuit, a sheet and a blanket at night time. We'll have the heating on low anyway as I won't want to be freezing when I'm up feeding in the night!!

I've had some major pain in my pubic bone area too. It often feels like someone's kicked me hard right between the legs. It's just this stage of pregnancy I think. Babies are all moving down and getting ready to make their appearances...

Baby all good, measuring a week less but then she is 2/5 engaged apparently they are short staffed for HBs this time, i have to ring early in labour to try to het someone - I may have to trek the 35 miles to the hospital. Really really want to avoid that. I'm sure it will be fine, I doubt I will realise labour and be able to make it there anyway!

Yes Maisie has cocoon too, so snug!

anniebigpants · 11/11/2009 12:54

I must admit to being a tad at all these babies engaging, im 37+1 and saw mw yest and he is still free, thought he should be starting to engage now with being my DC2....

GoldenSnitch · 11/11/2009 13:04

I'm very at all these people getting to 37 weeks!

I'm only 33 weeks and already sore and miserable

Claire236 · 11/11/2009 13:58

Saw mw earlier & still 3/5 engaged same as last week.

I've got Grobags for baby from day 1 as he'll be going straight in his cot in our room. My house is pretty cold so will be vest, sleepsuit, grobag & blanket to start with I think. I've got 2 0-3 month snowsuits but not sure I'll actually need them as his pram is lovely & snuggly. I've had the carseat out making sure I know how it works & been playing with the pram, bouncer & stuff & now really want a baby to put in them. I know it's alarmingly childish to want a baby to play with but I want to put him in his lovely clothes & take him out in his pram & generally play mummy. ds1 is also desperate to be a big brother & told baby yesterday that he could have all his teddies which I thought was very sweet of him.

Did anyone see the Kym Marsh programme about prem babies the other night? I cried all the way through it.

I'm completely addicted to Farmville & have been going on it about 3 times a day since I've been signed off work.

ViktoriaMac · 11/11/2009 14:36

Engaged? We're still breech over here.
Asked about HB last week, midwife just said that I shouldn't really have my heart set on it, because of my sick blood. Seeing consultant on Friday.

Claire - I tried Farmville for all of 3 minutes, didn't get into it, but keep getting annoying messages from people trying to help me out with my farm.

Scorps · 11/11/2009 15:01

Dont worry about baby being 'free', my dc3 was free a day before she arrived!

I got the snowsuits from eBay, really cheap and hardly used.

anniebigpants · 11/11/2009 15:07

Thats reassured me Scorps-thanks

GoldenSnitch · 11/11/2009 15:18

I always thought it was first babies that engaged early. Subsequent babies have more room thanks to pre-stretched tummy muscles and make the most of it until the very last minute

legscrossed · 11/11/2009 15:29

thanks for advice, and anyone ........ what is hb?

legscrossed · 11/11/2009 15:31

ignore me........ home birth! der

Milliemuffin · 11/11/2009 16:02

Thanks for the comments re sleeping bags etc. My DS will be in a moses for a bit so I'll stick with vest/sleepsuit/blanket until spring. I got some really cute dungaree sets for DS so looking forward to using them again.
My asda order arrived earlier and its so nice to have someone else do it all for me! I'm gradually buying stuff in bulk so should have all the basics to get us through to hopefully february. Will just need to buy fresh food and fruit etc.
I've emptied out the bottom of my larder and now in one corner is my birthing pool and in the other my hospital bag (about 1/3 packed) so when things do get going DP and MW will know where everything is and we wont be hunting round for stuff.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/11/2009 19:19

As I type baby is trying to tear out my bladder/ovaries/any other organ that happens to be in that general area. Its horrible. My bump is definitly lower it no longer looks like its attatched to my boobs. Big fit of energy has gone am now wallowing around in my largeness and feeling miserable about it.
DS seems to be getting cheekier or maybe its my temper being shorter!

LaDiDaDi · 11/11/2009 20:01

Hello everyone.

I had a fit of energy this evening and did some more packing of my hospital bag. I've now only got to add some tissues and some wipes.

Need to buy some more sleepsuits and sort out a shelf and some stacking boxes etc from ikea for the baby's room.

Still no further forward on a name, makes me when you're talking about Maisie and Catherine!

Mybox · 12/11/2009 09:41

Wondering who'll be first!!

sparklycheerymummy · 12/11/2009 12:25

I am sat on my gym ball thing hoping this baby will be out soon...... I really cant survive on no sleep....... ha ha ha yes i know in a few weeks i won't get any anyway but everything hurts in bed..... if on my side its every bit that touches the bed and if on my back i can't breathe! I heard its subsewuent babies thatengage earlier but who knows my dd was engaged fully for ages before she was born!!!! Yet my friends was never engaged until labour and she had a shorter labour!

anniebigpants · 12/11/2009 12:30

Im with you on the 'everything hurts in bed' sparkly. I keep finding myself lying on my back during the night and im gasping for air like a stranded goldfish! when i lie on my hips i have to change sides frequently as my hips start to ache. Ive got a folded duvet under the sheet that i lie on and numerous pillows as well. I find that i get really bad period type pains when im in bed on a night as well.

damnitdamnit · 12/11/2009 14:03

Do I hold the record for going to bed earliest? 6.30 last night! I was totally exhausted yesterday all day and as soon as DH got in I gave in and went to bed!

(Mind you woke up again at 9.30 having major anxiety attack about labour, and giving up my business tomorrow, and just everything seemed really awful and so was crying for a few hours. Feel totally embarrassed about it today because I don't feel the same at all but DH must think I'm a nutter!)

GoldenSnitch · 12/11/2009 17:06

We bought one of those super, memory foam topped, sprung mattresses just before DS was born and i still can't sleep sparkly

I also have a pillow between my knees and another in front of me to lay my top arm on to stop me pulling my neck!

How can someone so padded still be so uncomfortable!?!?!

Sleep deprivation with a newborn is totally different to pregnant sleeplessness. At least once they're born you can get comfy and actually sleep for an hour or 2 between feeds! What with achey hips, heartburn, a dancing tummy and being unable to sleep on my front or back, I'm not sure I'm ever getting comfy enough to properly fall asleep recently!!

madmissy · 12/11/2009 20:37

glad i am not the only one who is getting increasingly attention seeking daughters! dd1 nearly 4 is ok and just very excited! dd2 who was 2 in sept is bit of nightmare at the mo!

BexJ78 · 12/11/2009 20:42

terrible heartburn and have run out of gaviscon....but have finished work today so can just about put up with it!!

cairnterrier · 12/11/2009 22:35

I'm going for vest, sleepsuit, sheet and blanket. Am saving gro-bag for later on but not entirely sure why. Ordered all bedding on-line then when it was delivered found that I'd ordered cot sized blankets rather than moses basket - GRRR. Still all swapped now so peace has been restored.

I got v excited earlier this week as bump had dropped - went to aquanatal class and all the jumping up and down seems to have dislodged bump so am back to not being able to breathe, eat anything, bad heartburn etc.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 13/11/2009 08:09

Day off today. DS at the childminders alllll day and I can rest! YAY.
