Pussycatmomma & Madmissy - Thanks for the welcome!

DC1 has just turned 5, so I've almost had time to forget what it's all like (save for the pain and trauma of labour ).
Is anyone on here considering a homebirth or had one previously? I had a hospital birth last time and did not much "enjoy" the experience. I am wondering whether doing it at home might be an altogether better option - would love to hear your opinions/ experiences

TheBlairSnitchProject · 12/10/2009 15:56

What about this for my new halloween name?

ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 12/10/2009 16:03

Aha I love it!!!

LaDiDaDi · 12/10/2009 16:42

Hello everyone, no puffiness to day!

Love the new name Snitch.

I wish I had thought of a better name to start with, mine's a real bugger to think of anything good to change it to.

I've bought cheap fleecy button front pjs from Primark along with big knickers. Not bought any new nursing bras yet, will hunt out my old ones for a try on first and will also hopefully treat myself to one or two hotmilk ones.

Claire236 · 12/10/2009 19:30

You can get hotmilk on the Figleaves website. I hate to think what I'd be wearing if it wasn't for the internet as where I live the choice of maternity wear is shocking.

Milliemuffin · 13/10/2009 11:18

Hi ladies, just been reading all the posts going back to thursday and there's alot!

Cant remember who asked but you can get Hot Milk from Figleaves and asos.com.

I'm planning a home birth again as with DS we bought a ball/tens/birthing pool and I was in the pool for a couple of hours (was 5cm when mw arrived at midnight so could get straight in) but after drinking about 7 bottles of lucozade was in desparate need for a wee but couldnt and baby was right there so ambulance came and took me to hospital and 1h later with the help of forceps ds was born. I've already put in my birth plan make sure I wee! Our midwifes are really pro home birth so that helps.

DS was 10 days early which was a nice surprise, really hope this one is early aswell, with a due date of 27th any time before 24th would be lovely!

Mybox · 13/10/2009 11:54

How's everyone doing?

Here I've got all the first clothes sorted out & ready. Today did a huge shop for all the other things and have everything apart from the car seat. Will leave that for dh to get. Will be co-sleeping so no bedroom sorted out for dd - she'll move into dc5 room when dc1 moves into the new room.

Also nearly ready for xmas - just a few more pressies & xmas treats to get! Feeling organized

TheBlairSnitchProject · 13/10/2009 12:43

Very fed up today.

Not only do I have a cold but the 2 weeks within which my new P&T should have been ready to pick up was up today so I just called the shop. Apparently, all the accessories are there but there is no buggy!

Manager just called back and said that the suppliers are due to get the pushchair in at the end of this week so it will be more like the middle of next week before it's with them for me to pick up!!

Wouldn't be so annoyed but they assured me that 2 weeks was the maximum I would wait (even wrote 2 weeks on my invoice!) as a load had been ordered the day before I went in and they usually arrived quickly. Manager has just told me that they usually quote 2-3 weeks and she's not sure why I was told within 2 weeks.

It's not the end of the world obviously cause I still have my old buggy and baby's not due till December but I hate being messed around...

If I'd have ordered it from Kiddicare, it'd be here by now!

Hospital bag week 36 ish i think. I'm home birthing again though, and just pack a very small bag incase.

Bad bad week, weekend, but am still alive

Not much left to get for baby; local babyshop always has P&T in stock so will do that in a few weeks. Then just need a bouncy chair.

What are you putting baby in in the P&T cocoons people?

TheBlairSnitchProject · 13/10/2009 16:18

I was going for vest and babygrow, hat and a thick, cuddly blanket...

Maybe a snowsuit if it's really cold.

Need to get it here and have a proper look before I decide what will be too hot...

TheBlairSnitchProject · 13/10/2009 16:21

Charleymouse are you around?

I still have your VBAC book and wondered if you'd like me to post it back to you?

Moosy · 13/10/2009 17:03

When DD2 was tiny in Februay I used to put her in a vest, babygro, hat and lightweight blanket. Also added a cardigan if it was really cold, never had a need for snowsuit too. In the cocoon and with the plastic flap thing over the back to keep the wind out it's really quite snuggly in there

madmissy · 13/10/2009 20:10

helloooo

i've lapsed behind! where are we at?

i am making sure i dont forget mittens this time! dd1 was a dec baby and i forgot mittens for her tiny hands!

who was suffering migranes?? i got them very bad with dd1 and 4head was life saver!!

ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 13/10/2009 20:13

Hello ladies, ive been given the annual friends and family vouchers from work (ELC and Mothercare) and wondered if any of you would be interested in them? I think they are just general 20% off during November and some of December.
I have 5 of them spare.

TheBlairSnitchProject · 13/10/2009 20:18

I have a friends little girl on my ELC Big Birthday list who's birthday is at the end of November so I got a 20% off voucher last week which I'll add a few christmas presents to.

Unless no-one bites your hand off for them, in which case the Mothercare one might be useful.

That's very kind of you Arghh

madmissy · 14/10/2009 08:29

i am going to use boots for girls as they have the 3 for 2 going on toys

Scorps · 14/10/2009 12:19

Ok thanks, I wasn't sure but it seems they are very warm in there. I just have little scratch mitts for her.

Got my HIPG today, only 10 days after posting! Spent some on pads for various parts of my body and some pampers for first 2 weeks, then we are cloth. Boots had half price breast pads yay. Just waiting for buggy now and I'm pretty much done.

We have decided to call baby Maisie Star (surname). Happy with that!

Love to all!

BlueChampagne · 14/10/2009 13:53

Have spent the last couple of days feeling nauseous - we went away for the weekend and methinks I might have overdone it. Anyone else's bod telling them to slow down? Glad to say I'm feeling better now.

ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 14/10/2009 14:40

BlueChampagne I had a week off work last week and it was great, First full day back at work was yesterday and I couldnt half tell, my back was aching and my bump was very tight. It was definitely my body telling me to either slow down or not do anything at all. (I prefer the latter)

ViktoriaMac · 14/10/2009 14:57

Scorps, Maisie Star is a really, really lovely name. Before we knew we were having a boy we were keen on Seren, which is a Welsh name meaning star.
Sorry to those feeling rough, hope all feel better soon.
