Well, I've not been able to decide whether to start preparing 'stuff' for baby..... We're supposed to be moving house in a month, but the sale of our house fell through..... we'll have to have baby in our room... Oh but I'd love to be able to be settled and getting sorted. It doesn't really feel worth even washing the clothes we have got.... Oh i don't know!!

Anyone know anything about birthing pools?!!

pussycatmomma · 09/10/2009 20:17

Hi everyone Thanks for the lovely welcomes. I will try my best to catch up but you are a chatty lot and my poor preg-head is feeling struggling to keep up!
From what I can gather from the (very long!) register there are lots of us due our second or more child - makes me feel alot better i can tell you. I sometimes feel quite worried about how I will cope with such a little ds still (he'll be 22 months) plus a teeny tiny newborn, so if anyone can give me a bit of moral support id be grateful.
Stigaloid mentioned earlier on that she is fearful of the birth - i feel exactly the same. In some respects I feel almost as if i'll be going through onset of labour for first time as I was induced last time, and although I had an ok birth, there was nothing natural about it all, from start to finish. So my worries are pretty much same as when i had ds, but terrifed I will go over and need another induction. Which i certainly would like to avoid On top of that when midwife came to see me last she said baby was lying transverse. Before this it was breech. Im like - " how long have i got to get the babe pointing in the right direction?!" Also said if was breech up to birth they wouldnt consider trying to turn it as I have a high amount of amniotic fluid, which means things arent as straight forward as they should be. Ho Hum..........the extra fluid issue also rules out any poss of me having a home birth, which is something i seriously thought about, but tbh, I went off the idea once I'd decorated our bedroom , how sad am i?!!! I just cant stand the thought of all that mess to clear up at home, plus recover from having a baby, plus look after my toddler!!! Speaking of decorating, my new baby im sure is going to have the smallest room in the world. We do have 3 bedrooms, but the third is little, and we used to just use it as a little office really. But office no more! I was on the case about a month ago and now it has been emptied, clutter sent to oxfam, computer rehomed in the dining room, had a mamas and papas makeover and a lovely new floor. It just needs furniture now!! Collected the cot today, and hopefully dh will put it up when he gets in from driving range. (He doesnt know it yet)Cant believe I only have 8 weeks to go before Im having a baby!!!! Am so excited, but still feels like i have so much to sort, to do, plus christmas shopping! omg......
Sorry to waffle on, hope to catch some of you to speak to soon
lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxx pcm

pussycatmomma · 09/10/2009 20:40

apologies at seriously long first post!!

madmissy · 09/10/2009 21:43

pussycatmum

hiya i am due dc3 i already have 2 dd's 3 and 2 don't worry you will be fine!!!

ds has been breech- transverse- breech- head down/ceph- and now i am oblique lol im almost 30 weeks
i guess he has more room to move where dd's made my tum so lax!

as for being nervous and scared on labour you are not alone a couple of us have had tough time last time. have you spoken about it with your midwife? i just had a great chat with mine and she went through my notes on last labour was a real eye opener

so you're amongst a few in same position lots of support if you need it

thanks ladies. I have spoken to my mw about it and although she is lovely, she is not really "getting" how if feel, iykwim. Thoughts of being away from ds is really getting to me aswell, ive never been away from him during the night, i know it sounds daft and i will have more than enough on my plate to deal with, but atm im worrying about being apart from him. I cant imagine not seeing him in the night checking on him etc and seeing his face first thing in the morning. Told you im a saddo.
Me and dh just been putting the cot up - now come on to computer to find the tiniest wardrobe and chair i can - room looks so small now its got something in it again!
xxxxxxx night night all

ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 10/10/2009 13:28

Ohh I had an awful day yesterday, I think it was hormones and stress! I had made a list of things that needed to be done, then another of things that needed to be bought, then another of things I needed to pack in my hospital bag, then I made my usual christmas plan list and then I cried. REALLY cried, I worried the dog so much she stopped comforting me and went and hid in a corner shaking like a leaf!

DH came home because he phoned during this little episode and he got all worried, cue me ranting about having no room and not being able to eat properly because I have no appetite.
So he helped me take aload of things to charity shop and then took me to Ikea and we bought a chest of drawers for the bedroom so at least now we have somewhere to keep baby clothes. He then treated me to a KFC!!
So feeling a bit happier in regards to space and storage just need to work on my eating.

Hope everyone else is getting on ok!

pussycatmomma · 10/10/2009 15:00

aaaghamazingbouncingspider........bless you sweetie ((((hugs))) to you!! I know exactly how you feel re. making the lists. If its your way and your habit to make lists and stick to them, as is mine, its hard when they are just so long and costly isnt it! I feel it may even be a bit counterproductive sometime too, making the list is supposed to help me order my mind and feel organised but sometimes seeing it all written down i just think "omg when the f* am i gonna get all that done??" which stresses me out!
You sound like you have a lovely dh, he sounds like he really stepped up to the mark and tried to make you feel better. Bless him, he can have a brownie point for that. At least he went to Ikea voluntarilly - we are going shortly and it is not without a huge deal of lingering from dh.
Ever feel like just saying " look we're going. This is what we're having. No you dont have a choice. Yes we need it now. No it cant wait. No we cant buy a second hand one because a) I cant be bothered the hassle of looking and measuring and b) this one will fit. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
im not normally so intolerant
hope you feeling better soon bouncyspider and that your appetite comes back soon xxxx

ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 10/10/2009 15:30

PCM, yes DH is very good like that plus the trip to ikea involved driving back up the horrible junctions 3-9 of the M6 which is what he has to commute every day so it was doubly painful for him!!
Yes the lists thing is very much a thing I do, but I feel a bit better now that I have at least one thing crossed out!

GoldenSnitch · 10/10/2009 15:33

I'm having one of those days too. We used to have the smaller of the two big bedrooms and put our wardrobes in the box room - now we're having the very slightly larger big bedroom and the box room will be the nursery.

We're going to end up with about half the storage space we had and I have no idea where everything is going to go.

I'm just not in the mood for "decluttering" today and yet I feel we're running out of time and I'm fed up of living in a dump.

Plus, I want to get the nursery finished so I can get the baby clothes down from the loft and wash them but theres no point doing that unless I have somewhere to put them away.

Definitely a day today.

My DH is being brilliant too, trying to sort things but I'm too tired to really appreciate it.

Hope everyone feels brighter soon.

Thanks to my parents coming over after I got out of hospital babys room is ready with all his clothes washed & put away. I just wish I could have got prepared myself rather than relying on other people to do it but never mind. On the plus side everything is still ok & baby is now head down. Seeing both midwife & obstetrician fortnightly now with the appts arranged so I see one or the other every week which is reassuring.

What are everyones feeding plans? I'm hoping to bf but if ds2 arrives early I'll express initially & then ff. Had a nightmare feeding ds1 as he was early & had jaundice so I have no intention of putting myself or dh through that again.

ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 10/10/2009 19:20

Well drawers are up and baby clothes are now in them! yay!

DH drilled through to an electric cable putting DS nightlight on the wall, all I can smell is burning now, its driving me mad.

But at least I have a new set of drawers! (plus another 2 bin liners for the charity shop I dont know where it all comes from!)

Hello ladies. I'm at work today and feeling stressed because I'm getting swollen legs, was running about yesterday so thought that was the cause but have been much less busy today. I've dipsticked my wee (the perks of the nhs eh?) and I've only got a trace of protein. My BP is normal range but is def. higher than my booking BP. Feeling ok in myself. Anyone else getting puffy yet?

madmissy · 11/10/2009 17:57

yep me in face though lol

BexJ78 · 11/10/2009 20:21

my hands have been a bit puffy, I can't wear my wedding rings anymore.

Have felt poop all day today; spent day on sofa under the duvet...

GoldenSnitch · 11/10/2009 20:21

Yep, have had to ditch my engagement ring already - rest of my body is sure to follow soon

hi everyone, welcome to milly1980. How old is your dc1? mine is 20 months, im due 1st dec- hurray 7 weeks to go and counting!!!
Well we now have the wardrobe up, and bouncyspider has her drawers not only up, but filled, and another lady has her nursery finished and clothes put away so i think we all deserve a bit of a pat on the back ((pat pat to all)) I have visions of ikea being packed to the rafters with heaving pregnant women (us!) desperate to buy small furniture to fit in our tiny nurserys just so we can feel better and cross it off! and all the dh's huffing and puffing with the flat bed trolleys. I would challenge anyone who has a smaller box room than we have (box room? it has no box. as big as a box but no box)I think I am going to get one of those cot top changer things and forgoe a changing table for a small chair. The one we put in ds's room has been a vital bit of equipment, when he was bfing 10 times a night to now when we have cuddles and stories in it. Thats the thing when they're in cots isnt it, theres no bed to snuggle up to them on!
Someone mentioned pushchairs earlier on, we bought a phil and teds a couple of months ago and it went straight into the loft in boxes, so we just have to judge the right time to get it down. Bit worried though, madmissy, you worry me with talk of wanting a new pushchair when you already have the p and t!!! why? whats wrong with them? no! dont tell me, its bought now and theres nothing i can do about it We also have my silver cross linear ,only as old as ds but will be useless unless ds decides he wants to walk everywhere (v.doubtful) and a quinny zapp we bought second hand for our hols. Think I will clean up silvercross and maybe sell? But i cant bear thought of it, its my babys pram! im a sentimental old thing just now full of too many hormones i suspect.
On the plus side no puffiness to report here. Am back at work next week after having been signed off for a while with my back pain, half of me looking forward to going back, other half of me thinks "crazy fool" . Anyone else working right up to having babe more or less?
I only work 2 days so its not so bad i guess.
Right, am now a very tired person, but just want to say am loving this thread and its nice to be around mn again. I think i kind of missed it.
love to all, and no stressing about nurserys or baby clothes in loft or furniture, ok ladies? These babies are being born to us out of pure blessing, not cause they read about the bedrooms in a travel review!!! xxxx

GoldenSnitch · 12/10/2009 07:27

Think I'm coming down with a cold

Had a sort throat and a headache all day yesterday and by dinner time, I felt sick and went to bed...good job as DS was up at 6.15 this morning!

I've still got the sore throat now although it's not as bad but it's gone tickly and I have a runny nose.

Going to ditch toddler time and DS's swimming lesson I think and have a duvet day. He was up 2 or 3 times last night too and the last thing he needs is to get cold and wet if he's coming down with it too!

OP posts:
ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 12/10/2009 07:45

Snitch, DS has an awful cold too, not so much snotty but he has the worst chesty cough and temperature. Ive been up since half 3 with him watching Jurassic Park, we are currently watching the one where the dinosaur chases the bus

My mum took me shopping yesterday and bought lots of baby clothes and birth essentials.
I think all I need is a changing mat and bag and then all I need to do is relax.

Claire236 · 12/10/2009 13:18

I've discovered we still need to buy a few bits but nothing too urgent so will have to wait until baby arrives & I'm allowed shopping myself. Can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to not being restricted anymore. Except for by a new born baby of course.

We've bought a Cosatto Cabi which I love more & more every time I look at it.

No puffiness here. Cough's gone, heartburn's vanished since baby turned but don't know if that's just a coincidence. If I can get rid of these almost daily migraines I might start feeling somewhere near human again. Anyone else suffer from migraines when pregnant or is it just me?

We really are getting close to meeting our babies now aren't we. Can't believe it. 8 weeks to go for me. Whats the betting that after all this worry about him coming early he'll be late?

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 12/10/2009 13:45

There was me quite happily going about my business, getting bigger every minute thinking I'd got lots of time till DC2 due and I come on here to discover
-people counting the weeks till their due date rather than saying "I'm X weeks pregnant"
-Nurseries being organised
-lists being made and items bought
-hospital bags packed

Had major panic and have now made a list of things we need (thanks to Mothercare for their checklist in the catalogue ). Made me realise we have a lots of stuff from DD1 but just need to sort out where they are ie loft/parents house. Also now have crib stand, buggy board and new buggy. Will be using our SC Freeway Linear again, with DD on buggy board if needed (half price on Boots.com). She turns 3 tomorrow so hopefully she'll be walking everywhere. Did purchase new stroller though as old one was cheap at the time and is starting to look worn but will do as a spare at Grandmas. New buggy is the Silver Cross Dazzle, which I declared ugly on first sight but now love. Everyone else still thinks it's ugly including DH, but he doesn't get a say as he had nothing of value to add to the discussion! ("Whatever you're happy with Biscuits" )
Am planning a home birth and am discussing it in detail with mw on my next but one appointment. Am aware though I need to pack a hospital bag, and overnight bag for DD for when she has to go stay with Grandparents/Aunts. Might make that my mission for the next fortnight. One step at a time! Just need to go buy some cotton wool/wipes/nappy sacks and those oh so attractive maternity towels.
Has anyone seen on their shopping travels, a pair of pj's that have a vest top that has breast feeding option and extra support? Am currently wearing a normal M&S one but doesn't cover tum, and bottoms are a tad snug round the old bottom. Mothercare ones are still short on top, and Hot Milk do so lovely ones, but can't find where to buy them from.
So what else do I need to do? Ah yes, a new border for the Nursery. DD pulled the old one off ages ago, and don't want to re-paint so need border that matches colour on walls, and curtains (blue & yellow).
Starting to get excited now!
