Babylady, enjoy the movie. i saw it on saturday and thought it was okay, but the book was far far better.

FairySparkles · 26/08/2009 13:16

Phew - mega catch up - that's all I seem to be doing lately, everyone's really stepped up the posting since maternity leave!! I'm finishing work tomorrow [does a little dance]

OMFG I cannot believe how many babies are coming so soon - I'm 36+1 today so still feels like I've got ages to go - knowing my luck I may aswell just join the october thread and have done with it!!

Welcome to Zippy'sMum

GOOD LUCK tomorrow Neddie, can't wait to hear birth anouncement

Very belated best of luck to Mrs Chemist - although like you said frosty - probably all over and done with now with a belly full of tea and toast

Babylady - enjoy the cinema - very jealous, been trying to go see harry potter for weeks now but it just ain't happening!! [boo hoo]

Gonnabamummy - WTF!! How rude is that woman! - well within your rights to have given her a slap in the face I'd say - some people!!

...still haven't written my birth plan; frosty I think your sounds perfect so I'm gonna pinch that one if you don't mind, if nothing else it'll fit on a post-it on the front of my notes - job done!!

ZippysMum · 26/08/2009 13:35

Frosty - love your birth plan!
Good luck for tomorrow Neddie.
No, don't know the sex of my 2.

TigerFeet · 26/08/2009 15:27

Oh god, don't talk to me about birth plans. I've been meaning to do mine for ages. I'll join the StayFrosty Birth Plan Appreciation Society I think and have done with it

Good luck for tomorrow Neddie

Oooh MrsChemist I do hope you're cuddling your baby as I type!

Hope you're all having a good day.

Thanks, Stealth. Hope your last day was ok, too. I finished work at lunchtime!!! Wasn't too bad a morning, just not a good way to be leaving - me being all happy, leaving other people (including DP) to deal with the ongoing bad news. It's been horrible recently, but I'll miss the people and the banter. Got some bath stuff for me and for baby, a zebra (toy, not real ) and lots of vouchers from the team.

I've ordered the travel system and my birthday boots, having failed to get anything last week, so a very successful afternoon. Now relaxing with a nice cup of RLT and trying to keep up with you lot!

This is getting exciting!!

Looking forward to MrsChemist's news!

StayFrosty & Fairysparkles - I'm due the same time as you and due to be talking birth plans with mw tomorrow. Was also thinking of the "don't tell me if I poo" clause What I want is simple and quick with only G&A (would love a G&T, though). But, reality may catch up with me and I'll be begging for all the drugs they can pump into me... [now sticks head firmly back into sand bucket].

I went into labour the day after watching a comedy and laughing til I cried. Now, some of you may laugh, some may want to report me to the RSPCA, but we had our shih tzu cut today and fancied a kinky change. Went for a faux hawk. To use someone else's words, he looked like a tit - so we've shaved it off.

You could also test your pelvic floor by looking at the pic I've just posted off him on my profile. I had to run to the loo when dp came home with him earlier - still giggling now

nitnat84 · 26/08/2009 18:02

Blue- how funny does your dog look?!!! That was just mean having him cut like that, lol. Very funny though!

bratnav · 26/08/2009 18:17

Hi Bexaa, nice to know that there are a couple of us in the same boat. I have always measured 2-3cm over dates, but last week at 37 weeks it suddenly went crazy and I measured 44, hence being sent off for the scan. Finally got hold of my MW who said that she very much doubts that the GTT will come back positive, and that as long as it is negative she would be happy for me to have a HB still, given that I managed DD1 with no issues.

Where is that MrsChemist? Not posting between contractions is just slack

Good luck for tomorrow neddie, do you know what time your CS is, or do you just have to go in and wait?

JRocks · 26/08/2009 18:30

Bratnav - spoke to consultant about my cord fears earlier, she said that as the baby already has it's head just above my pelvis it will most likely shoot straight down when my waters break before anything else.

I think I read too much about what might happen, I need to calm down and look forward to hopefully a good birth.

TrixieBelden · 26/08/2009 19:04

Wishing a straightforward time for both MrsChemist and Neddie! Gonnabemumma - could that have been the same woman who today looked at my belly and asked if I was having twins? I just glared at her. People are unbelievable, aren't they?

38 weeks tomorrow and no action here. I've actually been telling myself I have another four weeks to go (DD was a week late) so I don't burst into tears the morning after my EDD comes and goes. I'm convinced I've forgotten what contractions feel like anyway, so knowing me I'll ignore them and just assume it's a wee foot stretching out my uterus in a particularly nasty way.

I'm also having slightly unreasonable panic that because this isn't my first time, my labour will be super-short and I won't get to the hospital in time. There's no reason for me to think this will happen, and yet it's all I can think about. Silly. Must stop reading the Daily Mail.

evie2000 · 26/08/2009 19:47

hello all, haven't posted in ages but have popped by periodically. Hope you are all doing well and good luck/congratulations to those currently being induced, c-sectioned, in labour or already delivered! Cant' read back all and ay it individually!
I'm 39 weeks on friday and all going fine. I was 16 days late with my first so feel I could be again however feel pretty achey this time around so may be sooner.
Anyway - just wishing everyone all the very best for the coming weeks, so much to think about and get done I think.Last night I had 3 hours of Braxton Hicks through the night and did wonder if this was it - gave me a kick up the arse to get sorted toay that's for sure! Haven't obviously achieved a thing but at least I meant to!
love to you all.

blue76 · 26/08/2009 20:01

Trixie - if you don't make it to the hospital, you could always sell your own story to the daily mail

Bratnav - it's good that your mw is still supportive of your hb. Off to see mine tomorrow and probably a scan to check position. If LO is still breech, hb may be out of the question for me. Canister of G&A standing there staring at me in the front room...fingers crossed!!

LadyStealthPolarBear · 26/08/2009 20:20

Minshu - that's the birth I had last time so it's not unreasonable Knowing my luck this time will be a nightmare Glad you enjoyed your last half day but I know what you mean about leaving others to deal with it - and mine's just the usual rubbish

SprinkleofStardust · 26/08/2009 20:29

Bratnav, I really hope it works out for you, I feel terrible now, as I had my consultant appointment today and although he tried to scare me into going to hospital he admitted there was no medical reason that I can't be at home so agreed that I could have one and signed me off quite excited now!!!

I have no advice as it's my first, but I would say bratnav just do loads of research and bombard them with questions to find out why and what the risks are and what you can do to reduce them maybe??

SprinkleofStardust · 26/08/2009 20:53

Missed MrsChemists post before, how exciting!! Babies coming thick and fast now!!

Good Luck for tomorrow Neddie xx

bigbang · 26/08/2009 21:51

Hey all,

Good luck MrsChemist and Neddie!

Last time I tried everything to get labour going and failed, except nipple stimulation, so that is my first port of call this time I know that breast feeding induces uterine contractions when the baby is born (to stem bleeding and expel the placenta) and know several people who got labour going by using a breast pump for a while. Now I wish ds was still breast feeding!

Bratnav- sorry no advice about the hb. Its so hard to know if they are being over cautious or if it really is necessary. I would listen to a midwife over the doc tbh, as they will be the ones to deliver the baby. My mws have all been very supportive of hb and so I know if one said hospital would be safer for whatever reason I would trust that. I guess it depends on the kind of relationship you have with them really. I hope you can make a choice you are happy with.

Just discovered we are off to Reading Carling festival this weekend. Not sure if its a good idea or not! My cousin's band are playing (not 'famous' I doubt anyone would know them) and have got us guest tickets at the last minute Thankfully my mum lives in Reading so will have a babysitter/house to use rather than camping. Its only for the Saturday which means not seeing Radiohead but hey, free tickets are not to be sniffed at. Not sure if I will cope with the noise/crowd/standing for ages so may have to go home early but I guess it could bring on labour!

Sorry to hear loads of people are on the receiving end of insensitive comments, people seem to think you become public property when you are pg.

Why do my posts keep coming out twice!?

TheTickListQueen · 27/08/2009 05:41

Well I'm officially on the countdown now I've got less than 3 hours to go until I have to be at the hospital. (time difference cause I'm not in the UK) Am all teary after just waving DS off. So not normally like this its bizarre. I was so much calmer first time round.

I look forward to hearing everyone's developments when I get back.

bratnav · 27/08/2009 06:47

Good luck TickList, hope it all goes well for you

LadyStealthPolarBear · 27/08/2009 06:50
