I stayed there for a couple of years after I graduated, I was there six years in all. I have been back a few times, it all looks very different now around the city centre. My sister embarks on her university career next year, I just can't imagine her putting up with the accommodation I lived in... I was too tight to pay for anything half decent though, I just wanted cheap! Broomhall.. nice but handy for the union. I started off in Broomhill, then Crookes and then Walkley after I had graduated.

My parents met as students in Sheffield, and we used to visit some of their old friends there when I was little, so have some good memories of the place.

HV has been (barely heard the knock, but had been keeping my eye out for her this time). It was a courtesy call to ensure that the details they have on the initial paperwork are correct and to explain what happens with regards their care after the baby comes.

Congratulations SoS , sorry to hear it was such an extended ordeal.

How are you getting on Stealth????? Hmmmm??? Looks like I'll be getting the 12/9 wooden spoon [wry ]

Peachygirl there is a PN thread already I think

Mumsylady, moan away, you are in good company. It really helps to offload I find. I did feel a lot better after my outburst earlier this afternoon.

I may well allow myself a glass of wine whilst watching Strictly tonight.

Snowfalls108 · 18/09/2009 18:33

Congratulations SoS

Think I might join you in that glass of wine Crouching.

Minshu · 18/09/2009 18:37

Congratulations, SoS!!!

Thusnelda · 18/09/2009 18:41

Uhh, glass of wine sounds nice.

Congratulations Sprinkle and hulihoops! But what an ordeal Sprinkle! If you post the birth story I may have to save it for later...

Here's the post natal thread by the way. Not that I seem to be in a hurry to join it...

Did some more shopping with my mother today, lovely sheep skin among other things - can't wait to take those obligatory nude pictures!

hulihoops · 18/09/2009 18:53

thanks so much everyone!
It was a difficult choice, really difficult, but I had a few things go wrong, so I ended up with a c-section. A planned c-section can be pretty good though. It all goes so smoothly and slowly, and they're so friendly. I had an emergency section last time, after induction, which wouldn't be my first choice of birth plan! If you have problems and have to think about c-section as a choice, then get a good consultant - ask the midwives to recommend one, meet them and decide for yourself. Don't just do as you're told, ask questions and find out if anything can be changed to make it better for you. One thing I asked for was for them to announce the sex of the baby, don't know why, but I liked the idea.

I'm sorry for those feeling heavy and grumpy, I was there not so long ago.

We'll all be done very soon, and the cute babies will all be here and the aches and pains will soon fade (I hope!) See you on the postnatal thread.

cherrylips · 18/09/2009 19:16

I have only posted once or twice on this thread, but have followed everyones pregnancies with interest. I had a baby girl on 10th September. Lovely C section (planned) Her name is Louisa Katharine. She is our third dc and dd number 2. Recovering at home is lovely. Congratulations to everyone else who is having their September baby.

Labella77 · 18/09/2009 19:53

Hello everyone, so fabulous to hear all the good news stories. For all those ladies out there overdue and waiting, i hand you a massive glass of wine.

I'm now 38.4 with c-section booked for next Wednesday but am more than happy for her to come out sooner. If this baby wriggles around outside the tummy as much as she does inside i am never going to sleep for the rest of my life.

I can't walk still and am running out of Jilly Cooper books and Come dine with me episodes. Do you think wiggling maniacally in the tummy could be a sign? [hopeful] please please please please.

Annoyingly my husband seems to think that going out all week is justified as i have a cs booked now, so i'm all alone in the house with the wriggler. And somehow I'm going to have to cook myself something to eat, which is a pretty hard task when on crutches. i think tonight i will dine on cheese on toast.

Good luck over this weekend girls and i hope to see more good news soon.

StealthPolarBear · 18/09/2009 21:06

in and out again
I said if i was 2cm I would cry
I was 2cm. I cried.
Had a sweep and was 3cm dring that.
Having really really bad contractions now, about every 4 mins.

BabyLady · 18/09/2009 21:25

ohh Stealth, good luck. At 3cm I got my epidural and then had to hang out for 9 hours until DS was born! Fingers crossed that the next bit speeds up for you!!
