Thanks SF, at least I gave birth in your dream Good luck for the sweep.
mumsylady, if this baby wants you unshaven and scruffy than damn well give it to him/her!!
Ikwym though, I'm the same with the housework, get the washing done, floors clean, all ready to go into labour and then a few days later the washing basket's full again and the floor's covered in rubbish.

StealthPolarBear · 17/09/2009 13:32

BORED!
Are you all off having babies?

Snowfalls108 · 17/09/2009 13:38

nope no baby here. Went and meant a friend for lunch.
Had a phone call from my grandmother, during which she told me that one of her babies was 3 weeks late! 3 weeks.
aaaaaaaaaa

Thank god I've got the induction booked for Tuesday, so nice knowing there is an end date.

StealthPolarBear · 17/09/2009 13:50

at 3 weeks, although I probably shouldn't be - this one is probably going to end up an October baby

Congratulations Blue

Well MW wouldnt do a sweep and also told me that they now dont book in for induction until T13/14 FFS!!!! I said no way was i waiting that long. BP was super high (for me) 143/93 so she has booked me in for a home visit on Sunday. All she could tell me was that baby seemed to be in a OA position which is good as she was back to back the last time, oh and that she was sure it wouldnt be too much longer. She was happy to agree to my date of the 14/9 rather than the scan of 18/9 so will take that into consideration if i need to be induced.

Am so close to tears its not funny

StealthPolarBear · 17/09/2009 16:21

oh AM
Surely if your BP stays high, then that's sa reason for either a sweep or induction? Hope it stays (safely!) high until Sunday.

Ladyem · 17/09/2009 16:24

Ahhh, boo to your MW, April. Let's hope she is right about it not being much longer!

Congratulations Blue!! Beautiful name, too! Hope you are recovering well and that Amelia is doing well!

Thusnelda · 17/09/2009 17:08

Congratulations Blue!
I'm glad the caesarian went well and little Amelia is feeding well.

Well, I didn't win the sweepstakes either. Had an appointment today at 39+4 to get things on the way but they couldn't do a sweep because the baby's head is still free! First doctor said can't and won't because of risk of cord prolapse if you go into labour and let's scan you to see whether it really is the head and not the bum that's not engaged. The doctor that did the scan (head down alright and she's facing my right hip apparently), said the head is nearly in the pelvis and she will try to sweep. No luck though, the head is bouncing back when prodded so no sweep but she said the cervix is a little softened and shortened so something is happening but the head will have to engage for anything to really move on properly.

I don't mind waiting a little longer as I'm still feeling quite well and mobile and no piles in sight but it's the induction I'm not keen on. They were threatening induction at 40 weeks as I'm 38 and risk of stillbirth goes up sooner in older women, but now they seem to be quite happy to let me go over by a week or ten days after all. So I'm having an appointment next Friday (if nothing happens) and will then be induced Monday or Tuesday or thereabouts, so I should end up with a September baby, if only just.

Snowfalls108 · 17/09/2009 18:24

Boo to your midwife AprilMeadow - isn't it weird how much it varies from one place to the next. My midwife was more than happy to give me a sweep when I asked and I'm booked in for an induction at 40 +9 (could have had it at 40+5 but DH wasn't keen).

Poor you Thusnelda - it's so depressing when they say that things aren't happening.

Oh just have to say - I love my cleaner!! I can't believe I have one. She's amazing. My flat has never looked so clean, and that's just 3 hours work. Amazing. Do you think my nesting by proxy will work!!

Congratulations, Blue!! and welcome Amelia. Hope your recovery continues to go so well.

Glad you are feeling a bit more positive, bigbang.

AprilMeadow - at least mw agreed with your date (trying to look on the bright side)...

StayFrosty - you have my sympathy over OH with a terrible sense of humour Hope the sweep turns out to have been a good trigger.

I'm just hanging around - not really expecting anything to happen for a while yet, so just hope that I have more days with sufficient energy to get out and about than days like today where a trip to tesco wiped me out. Couldn't even face a gentle stroll in the sun.
